Good pastry selection, cheap prices, and very friendly service. All you need for a casual lunch in DTLA.

I’ve never thought much of this place, even more so once I saw the rotating hot dog machine behind the counter. What could have possibly been a somewhat decent bakery, turned out to be nothing more than a confusing mix between a half-ass deli and a 7⁄11. With the name«Pastry» Place, you would at least expect the bread to be somewhat decent; but that couldn’t be farther from reality. As harsh as it may sound, the bread was my least favorite part of the meal. Maybe my expectations we’re too high, but it’s disappointing knowing that nothing is made fresh here or baked fresh for that matter. Everything looks store bought: the bagels, the muffins, the bread, the macaroni salad, heck probably even the fruit salad. On that note, I question how often their stock is rotated… the bread my sandwich was made from tasted like it was 2 days from stale; it had that hard but soggy texture that’ll put a frown on any kid’s face. Everything was just so mediocre and the only thing that was somewhat enjoyable was honestly the fruit salad, It’s sad that this place turned out to be such a disappointment, especially considering that this place seems family owned. Unfortunately, with little effort comes even smaller results.

I wasn’t in the mood for burgers, so opted for a hot dog today. Not many places in my area that served hot dogs, but found this hole-in-the-wall place inside LA Mall. I was greeted by two Asian workers with smiles. Their friendliness was a nice change of pace for downtown! They recommended the sandwiches, but i said I was craving a hot dog. So that’s all I got. It cost $ 2.75 with all the fixin’s: onions, relish, mustard, and ketchup. The dog was a good size, like Ball Park Franks(not like Oscar Meyer dogs), and the bun was soft. I would eat it again. My next visit, I’ll try their sandwiches.

This was to go to place for sandwiches at city hall. They’ve changed their menu, offering very little selection. Won’t be coming here again ; :(they do make their own bread which is a plus

My coworkers and I used to come to have lunch here at least once a week. Then we started having some bad experiences. First the dressing for my green salad was spoiled. The next time one of my coworkers found a piece of metal in her tuna salad sandwich. When she went to take it back the owner gave her a hard time. The final straw was when my coworker ordered a sandwich and 2 sides. The potato salad was sour. Upon further inspection the styrofoam container was DIRTY and had MOLD all on the inside. It was absolutely disguisting! We will not be going back to this place.

The sandwich’s are good here but I have had better. I ordered a turkey sandwich and the lady who prepared it did a descent job. I guess you can’t really go wrong with a sandwich unless the bread is stale and the cold cuts/veggies are rotten. The owner is a nice Korean lady but I couldn’t understand her well due to her accent. The bread is NOT freshly baked. I will most likely not return to this place.

Wheatbread stale, mac salad bland, 5 pieces of fruit, i ordered turkey, later discover it was two small slices of ham. If you’re craving a fresh sandwich just go to Marie’s Coffee on 7th and flower(right off the metro stop)…after all the bad experiences with sandwich shops around im convinced its the best. I’d rather pay $ 2 extra for better quality and taste, bigger portion and service with a smile. I agree with the above reviewer, instead of putting sandwiches in paper they have sides in fridge in individual styrofoam boxes ready to go, the place wasn’t even busy @ 1:30pm and already had stale wheat bread…

Freshly baked bread. They often run out of the wheat which sucks, but when you get it it’s great. Fresh everything and their desserts aren’t bad either. It’s in a shabby place but it’s the best sandwich shop near City Hall.

FRESHLYBAKEDBREAD! yum! pasty place is definitely one of the better places to eat at the ugly mall. i usually opt for the ½ sandwich + 2 sides. add a bottled water, and you got yourself a six dollar meal! i’ve only tried the veggie and turkey delight sandwiches, but others who i have dined there with have said that the turkey + cranberry sandwich and the pastrami sandwiches are also v. delicious. the fact that it is found in a little corner of the ugly mall is a bit shady, but i’ll vouch for this place. it’s one of the more popular places to grab a bite there anyway.

This shop serves sandwiches, pastries, frozen yogurt, fruit, salads, and soup. Note: This shop has an «A» rating in the window. I am giving them one star for these reasons: 1. Food is heated in a microwave before serving to the customer. 2. Food is served in polystyrene/styrofoam containers and then put into the microwave before serving to customers. 3. There was a bug in the side salad that came with my sandwich. The use of polystyrene bothers me for these reasons: 1. On 7÷22÷08 City Council unanimously voted to ban Styrofoam use at City events or in City facilities.(If I’m not mistaken, the City is the landlord for this shop.) 2. Styrene is classified as a possible human carcinogen by the EPA and by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. 3. Toxic chemicals leach out of these products into the food that they contain(especially when heated in a microwave). These chemicals threaten human health and reproductive systems. 4. The manufacturing and decomposition of polystyrene are harmful to the environment(it causes air pollution, ozone destruction, pollutes our land and water, and kills animals who eat it).
