The food is delicious!!! The earlier you get there the less you’ll have to wait, you will wait but the food worth it. Friendly staff always! Everything is delicious, my favorite is the machaca!

Great food, the wait to be seated was 10 minutes max. Staff is very friendly. Unfortunately 3 stars due to the extremely long wait after ordering. No one checked in with us except for the occasional coffee refill, I started to think they forgot about our orders.

OMG at that menu!!! It has everything you have ever wanted and eaten on it! I have had breakfast and lunch there many times. I love the 4 salad plate that has fresh(made right in front of me) egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, regular salad. It is yummm. For breakfast you cannot go wrong. The grits are a great and rare item in L.A. and these are made perfectly. I also love the hashbrowns, BLT’s, crinkle fries, sausage and biscuits and the good olé cheeseburger. GREAT service and really good food. Expect a wait on the weekends-normally 30 – 45 min so have a snack before just to be safe

I would not normally rate a breakfast place or diner, as it’s pretty hard to mess up eggs. The food here is good but I am rating this place on its old school ambiance and vibe. Being a New Yorker I definitely miss diners and places like this. It has a chill laid back atmosphere with very friendly attentive staff. It has that family oriented small town diner feel which is great. Just moved into the neighborhood and have a feeling I will be frequenting this place as it doesn’t have that snobby LA attitude but a welcoming chill environment.

The atmosphere is best part of Nick’s, but the food is no slouch either. This is a diner, so don’t expect anything too fancy. That said, they deliver on exactly what you need — good, hearty food(that’s healthy, if you order something appropriate). I’ll be back!

Good service, good food and good prices. Food may take a bit during busy times but service makes up for it making sure coffee filled.

This is a great breakfast spot. Family owned and operated. All of the employees were extremely friendly and accommodating. We sat at the main counter area. It was nice to watch them cook. The place was packed but it only took 5 minutes to be seated. The wait was about 20 minutes for the food which was reasonable. The food was like every diner’s food. They have a lot of menu items and you can order your food how you like it cooked. The atmosphere is old fashioned and friendly.

My favorite place to get breakfast in LA. Great family-owned restaurant with good food and friendly service. Just make sure you call in ahead of time to get your name on the wait list — save yourself the time. The food can sometimes take a while when they’re really packed, but the super-friendly staff and the consistent quality of the food makes the wait worthwhile if you have the time to kill.

First time delivery through Postmates . We shared Breakfast sandwich with Bacon with Hash Browns and Pancake Sandwich which came with 2 gigantic fluffy Pancakes, perfect scrambled eggs, and handmade sausage, plus coffee. A feast… So delicious. This place is a gem !!! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Besides having the greatest diner food in the area, quick service, funky casual, historic atmosphere; the servers just are always so wonderful with positive personalities and great great service. Delicious food. What more can I say? Try to hit them at nonpeak hours because a place this great is packed at those times.

Today was our first time here. We actually were going to Nicks Café in Chinatown but they were unexpectedly closed due to construction. Luckily, Nick’s Coffeeshop was also highlighted as well which made it our second choice. It should have been our first choice! Service and food was and is TOPNOTCH!!! Came on a Monday. Can’t imagine the crowd during the weekends. We will definitely return. Worth the drive from the valley.

EGGcellent scrambled eggs. Delicious pancakes(huge and fluffy). Good hash browns. It was busy, so the coffee was nice and pretty fresh. Nice friendly service and a very happy owner. It gets a bit busy for breakfast on weekends, but it’s just so cozy and worth the wait. Sit at the counter for free entertainment(watch the chefs cook). Breakfast fare is a yum! Will come try again!

The huge menu makes choosing what to eat an almost impossible task for an indecisive person like me, but whatever you choose, it’s most likely going to be great. The staff is always super helpful and friendly, and they encourage you to customize your dish as much as you want. You don’t even have to order something off the menu, if you don’t want to! Their walnut french toast is really different and worth trying, and their sausage links are to die for!

This place is truly as good as it gets for breakfast. It’s the place you drive all the way from other counties to get your LA fix. Warm and friendly service, a great neighborhood vibe, good food and great coffee! I just found my favorite breakfast spot! Few tips: Pay attention to parking. One hour may not be enough. This is a tiny place with a tiny kitchen and gets absolutely PACKED with regulars. Do the math. This means this is not the place to rush in and out except maybe if it’s super early before the rush but even then I wouldn’t count on it. You come here to ENJOY your time here. Take in the warm and fuzzy feeling of eating at your old neighborhood favorite, will you? You can call in advance to have your name put on the list too. Yes! What a concept! A place that believes in serving their fellow angelinos; a luxury not found in a lot of places, including the fact that about 3 – 4 other breakfast spots were closed on a Saturday morning. Oh well. Our gain… As we sat down, our server went through the menu with me(for breakfast mind you), and in 5 seconds, I knew what to order. I told her what my husband liked and she turned the menu to that page and the order was done! I will definitely be back. This is Canters in a box with more color, more comforts and, ok I’ll just say it, a lot of charm. Oh, and yes — there is a TV. I didn’t see it when I put down what it had. It’s an old 80’s color TV above the refrigerated food that had a surfing competition going on. Love it! This place has it right. Sometimes we just want a place we know that in years to come, we’ll recognize an ambiance of old music, tons of old photos on the wall, warm people and a good breakfast. And lastly, I’ll have to add about the gentleman outside as we were walking towards the door who replied to my morning greeting who was still sitting there when we left. When I told him to have a good day he replied for me to have a better one. Yep — it just doesn’t get any better than that.

If you love diners, this is the place to go! I will definitely make this place a «Go To» when I’m in the area. I was very skeptical about ordering the corned beef hash, but Oscar, our wonderful server, said it was the best and to try it. So I did… I loved it! Great texture, not mushy, great flavor, not too salty. Crispy outside and moist inside with just the right amount of diced potatoes. Hash browns were prepared crispy and eggs cooked perfect. They lost a point on the rye bread and average coffee. Not enough rye taste in the bread. The service was top notch. 10 stars for Oscar. He was helpful, patient, and attentive. Great friendly hometown feeling. Everyone seems to know one another. Great neighborhood diner!

The menu here is huge! Great standard diner fare with some interesting additions such as teriyaki bowls and cactus omelettes. I got a sloppy joe sandwich on garlic toast(special request) with sautéed mushrooms(standard add-on) and hash browns on the side. Holy cow this was the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time! It’s served open-faced(see photo) with lots of grilled onions and peppers and sauce. I have only been here once but it’s already on my list of LA favorites. Service was great. Lots of interesting autographed pics on the walls. Awesomely retro diner feel. Can’t wait to try more of their menu. Heads up… A friend who lives nearby says the line on weekends is insane! We were there on a Fri morning and got a table right away.

Fantastic service! Food is hit or miss. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful, and they obviously work very hard. You cannot go wrong with the pancakes here! If you add chocolate chips, the pancakes are out of this world. The waffles, on the other, hand are more like big Eggos than«Belgian» waffles, as they are described on the menu. I would not order the waffles again. For straight up diner food, like bacon, eggs, and hash browns, it’s great. However, if you want good Mexican food, I would go somewhere else. I recently ordered the chorizo & eggs plate with beans and rice. The chorizo and eggs were good. The beans and rice were terrible. The beans were incredibly watered down, and the rice tasted old and was lacking in flavor.

This is what you call a diner! It’s a small restaurant but has plenty of space. Breakfast items here are very traditional and huge. I could not finish my plate(but I did). The coffee itself is so simple and so damn good! It’s not strong, just very smooth. Prices are very reasonable and cheap. Service super awesome! There’s no parking structure but plenty of street parking that require a little bit of walking sometimes.

Let’s talk about Nick’s. Better yet let’s mention the phenomenal customer service that happens here. Since moving to the mid-city area I’ve been looking for a place to hit up for breakfast/brunch with a neighborhood diner feel. My roommate and I had heard about this place and decided to pull up. It’s not a big location but it has a genuine family feel to it. The staff is tight knit with great communication skills between one another. After I noticed how they looked out for each individual patron I said I would definitely come back. Prior my second trip to Nick’s I called ahead. I could tell the voice on the phone was the same gentlemen that worked behind the counter during my first visit. After dropping my name he was able to recall on my first visit(over the phone) and assured me that I would have a table ready in 20 min. or so. Which would be about the time I’d arrive anyway. PARKING I don’t remember seeing a designated lot for Nick’s – I’ve always gotten by on street parking. This location is only a few blocks west of La Cienega on Pico so there might be instances where you’re circling the block, looking for a spot. BACKTOTHEREVIEW So when I walked in, it was indeed The Homie from the first visit and he indeed remembered me as well as my name(which is a shame because I can’t for the life of me remember his…) He had a table ready for me within minutes. After gettin’ my party and I seated, he had dope recommendations and alterations for breakfast selections on the menu. THEFOOD It’s authentic diner food. I don’t know how else to describe it. Except the toast– the toast from here is uniquely golden brown, buttered to perfection. Never had toast that made me wanna get out my seat and slap the cook! But yeah, it’s diner food. Made with love and actually not too far from your immediate vision. The kitchen is just in front of the bar and viewable from tables and booths all around. Great pancakes(try the M&M pancake) and omelettes are delicious here as well. OVERVIEW * All in all, well worth the try. * Has potential to be busy on weekends and really anytime during the week. * Parking can be difficult but still manageable. * Customer service is OFFTHECHAIN!!!
