Got the super bowl. Was below par. Beef was too tough. Chicken too salty and sauce uninspired. Service was good though.

I’ve had the food here before, mediocre at best and the sushi is definitely not sushi grade, but prior experience hasn’t been terrible. I would give this place a solid 3 stars on that account. The rationale for 1 star then? Customer service. I called for pickup and wanted their 3 item lunch special: when I requested two salmon rolls and gyoza(3 items total), I was told they couldn’t do that because their system doesn’t accept a repeat order of a single item. I suggested that they select a different item and then write-in on the ticket that it’s a repeat of the salmon roll — they also declined to do that. Perhaps most disturbing was that I requested to speak to the acting manager and was told the manager didn’t want to speak to me. I tried 2 more times to tell the very polite lady I was speaking with to put the manager on the phone, and twice more I was denied. To say I’m disappointed with their service would be an understatement. Suffice it to say, I will not be going back to Mitaki in the foreseeable future.

I was pleasantly surprised by this convenient, quick bite-style lunch spot. My expectations going into this meal were lukewarm at best, but I ended up enjoying the solid quality and reasonable pricing offered at Mitaki: ___________ + As you might imagine, seated here is a bit limited. I dropped by right in the heart of the weekday lunch hour, and all of the inside tables were already accounted for. Thankfully, there are outdoor tables available too. ___________ + I ordered a Teriyaki/Tempura Combination Plate($ 8.49 or so). This combo really blew me away in terms of the amount of food offered for the price paid! The standard bento suspects were all accounted for — a piping hot bowl of miso, a decently varied assortment of tempura shrimp/veggies, a healthy serving of teriyaki chicken, and a solid side salad & large rice scoop to boot. Nothing out-of-the-ordinary or wildly innovative, just good accessible food. The tempura was flaky, warm, and didn’t have stale-tasting batter in the manner that bad tempura can sometimes suffer from. The Teriyaki was cooked to a spot-on tenderness. + I’d recommend passing on the standard tempura dipping sauce and instead requesting a side of the Sriracha Aioli. I asked the girl working the front counter if the«Aioli» was basically just Sriracha Mayo… she said that they were«similar,» but I call BS — there really wasn’t any detectable difference flavor-wise. Mitaki gets some love for serving as a shining beacon of relatively-decent food in a area characterized by a relative lack of anything culinarily-inspired. Sometimes, you just gotta take what you can get!

Have the chicken bowl, it’s the best lunch deal in town, or if you are really hungry, the lunch special with the chicken teriyaki bowl and a roll. I get take out here about once a week. The sushi is just okay, I don’t usually get the fish.

Had the chance to try this at a weekday lunch. I got the teriyaki chicken and tuna rolls combo. I must say for the price of $ 8, its definitely worth it. The meal includes a side of salad, rice, teriyaki chicken and 8 tuna rolls. I love the rice so much, it was cooked fairly well. And their salad is filled with sauce which makes it taste so sweet. Same goes for the teriyaki chicken and sushi rolls. The taste wasn’t quite bad and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast serving restaurant that serves good quality food. Definitely not the best out thete but you get what you paid for

Mitaki is just okay. I came here for lunch and got a rice bowl. The end product wasn’t expensive, but didn’t really feel like it should have been — the rice was just okay, the meat was limited and somewhat cheap-tasting, and the overall sauce was heavy and kinda unexciting. I neither strongly liked or disliked this place. I’m usually a secret fan of «bad Japanese» — like junk food teriyaki — but this wasn’t particularly worth it.

Highlights: 1) Their deep fryer was broken, and the girl said«it has been broken for a while» 2) My food came out in under 2 minutes– meaning they don’t make it to order, they might as well box up their food and keep it in a fridge like in gas stations 3) The shrimp tail portruding from one of the rolls was just plain OLD 4) It being my first time there, I had questions. The girl behind the counter, seemed annoyed that I asked her what was in the Long Beach Roll. Customer Service goes a long way, Mitaka! 5) this is more of a personal issue since most people won’t mind– they don’t have eel sauce –_–

I really recommend this place if you work or are around the area. They deliver if you order $ 25 or more. I ordered the lobster popcorn roll which was delicious! I also had the Super Bowl which was great as well. Can’t wait to order again. FYI if you order delivery do it 30 – 45 min before ur scheduled lunch time.

Average quick Japanese food. Nothing special, but fine for a quick take out or eat in lunch. The low price is the plus!

This is a pretty good place to have lunch if you work in the downtown LA area. I come here at least a couple times per week.

One of the most convenient lunch location in Downtown Los Angeles. This location is near 6th Street and Grand Avenue(directly next to Subway and the bus stop). Don’t be expecting top quality sushi, but they are edible. My personal favorite at this location is their Mitaki 2 item combo($ 8.49) or 3 item combo($ 11.49). I would definitely pay the extra $ 1 to upgrade one of the items to the Long Beach Roll. Base on my personal experience, the 2 item combo is more than enough for myself — it comes with your choice of items, rice, salad and either soup or drink. An alternative favorite here is their Chicken Udon if you want something warm and satisfying on a cold winter day. This location gets crowded during lunch time, but you can usually find a table if you would like to dine-in. If you work in the downtown area and prefer to eat at the office instead, I would highly recommend calling in and placing your order in advance to avoid the wait. Special rolls(such as the Long Beach Roll) or other hot food items would take up to 10 minutes to prepare.

This place has a very nice variety of sushi, teriyaki, udon, and chicken bowls. Service is quick and food is cheap. Come in before the mad rush of the lunch hour at around 11:30 or you will not be able to find a table. There are no servers, and no frills. You go to the counter, purchase your food and when your number is called pick it up. It is fast paced but it has to be in this neighborhood. I tried the combination plate with spicy chicken and a salmon roll with miso soup. The spicy chicken was really spicy! Being a lover of Thai the spice was right on. I hate when food is advertised as spicy and it is only semi-spicy. No, no, this chicken is actually pretty hot. I needed water, but it was good. The spicy did not extract the flavor as I could still taste the barbecue teriyaki. The salmon roll was ok. The salmon was not as fresh or cold as it should have, but then again this place does not solely serve sushi so it is a pass. The miso soup was just that, generic miso soup. My co-worker ordered the salmon bowl which she raved was very delicious and one of the reasons for the rating being as high as it is. A large piece of salmon over a bed of salad and rice. Healthy, delicious, and the reason I will return.

Solid Japanese place downtown. It’s located in front of a bus stop so it smells like exhaust outside. Not the best area for a restaurant, but they do their best to keep it a bit classy. Been here a couple of times since it is located near my work. The food is average, nothing really stands out. I have had their chicken bowl, spicy chicken bowl, and their Mitaki bowl. My favorite is their Mitaki bowl; it cost a little bit more but it comes with a shrimp tempura and 2 gyozas. The salad that comes with the bowl is literally just chopped up lettuce. They put a ton of sauce on their meat, making it kind of overwhelming. The rice kind of balances everything out. Mitaki isn’t a place I will probably ever be craving to have. It’s one of those stores that I will come to when I don’t know what I want to eat.

Pre-packed broth packs, boil with frozen, pre sliced veg and udon from the restaurant version of Costco. Cheap, but it’s cheap for a reason. Oh yeah, there’s also the extra staff that just stands there and does nothing when there’s a line. Not even a «Can I help you with something?»
