First i must say I’ve been going here since i was a little Mocoso and now that I’m a Big Mocoso i still frequent this joint as often as possible. Plus Grandma lives around the corner so it’s very convenient. To all these«experts» that claim they serve the best tacos not just in East LA but anywhere… they are all very mistaken! These are the«Best Damn Tacos in East LA» period! Now in order to get the full«East LA taco truck experience», don’t take your lazy a$$ inside the restaurant and sit down(which also has good grub and on the weekends makes homemade Menudo), but instead order and eat from the Taco Truck outside the restaurant. You can order from a beat down taco truck that i haven’t seen move in the 30 plus years I’ve been going there. That thing probably doesn’t even have a motor inside it but it sure as hell serves up good a$$ tacos! But don’t be alarmed, i wouldn’t send you to some roach infested, C graded taco truck with bad meat. This place is the sh*t…and not only do you get to sit on small 3 ft wooden bench in front of the truck next to a phone booth that has been tagged up by all the local gangsters(because gangsters love tacos too), and maybe juuuust maybe if your lucky enough the local movie pirate will stroll on by selling you the latest in bootleg DVD’s! Wait… the experience is not over. Ohhhhh yes there’s more! If you visit during the evening time there’s an added bonus just steps from La Estrella! Bonus you say? Yes, fresh hot CHURROS! Not your Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland over priced under cooked $ 7 churros, but I’m talking about the real deal Hollyfield. Estillo La Bufadora. Just north of the taco truck(in the Pharmacy parking lot on Whittier and Lorena) you’ll find a lady selling fresh hot churros…$ 2 a bag! You can’t miss her, she’ll be the one with the crowd of people waiting for the next batch to drop. The tacos are the best and the Churros are the icing on the cake. You’ve been warned, this is an addicting habit! If you don’t know… Now you know! Honorable mention: Carne Asada tacos, no onion, green salsa!
