Had the chicken potpie, speciality seafood soup dish, and a steak. They were all amazing. Portions are a bit small however.

I wasn’t impressed– which is sad because I walked by several times and it was always packed. My table was sticky and not cleaned or set when I sat down. When I asked the waiter he said the finish was like that but he’d wipe it down anyway. He then said it was infact dirty. It would have just been easier to move us to a clean table– but he was right the table was still sticky after cleaning. Others foods came out before ours– it took about 20 minutes and I had to remind the waiter I had ordered a beer after 10 minutes and two trips back to the table? Not allowing substitutes for sides seems a little ridiculous as it’s easily remedied by up sales. The food quality was, eh okay. The food was slightly bland, nothing spectacular. We had almost all of the sides and a shrimp salad. I will say that the shrimp salad was good– but only because it had a lot of jumbo shrimp. The dressing was lite and not tasty. The fried(maybe baked in seasoning) plantains were the best side. It did get busier as we are but I think our waiter mysteriously abandoned us and we wound up with another girl. Who are you tipping in this situation… I hope to see a little more out of this place. I’d go back if I see more reviews come in because it’s close to our offices and has so much potential for a great space.

I’ve wanted to try one of the KTCHNDTLA weekend pop-ups for a while and I finally got to at the Wood Spoon. I was meeting a friend I hadn’t seen for a while for brunch, we got reservations for right when they opened so needless to say the service was fantastic! It wasn’t too busy, but within a few minutes a few more parties had arrived. Their menu at this location is mexican breakfast food. They also have some delicious mimosas! I had the chilaquiles which were wonderful. They had a nice smokey spicy thing happening, I think partially due to the chips used and partially the sauces. Also getting the bill/paying was a little fun as they used an ipad for that so it was all done right at the table, and even though I’ve done it before — signing with ones finger is always fun.

No matter where this«pop up» brunch moves to I will follow. The food is amazing and has a great staff to compliment it. This new venue has tons of charm. Thumbs up !
