Finally found this place after 4 times of looking for it. Came in a Monday around 11:00 and the cart was outside of a Korean market. I don’t remember my name but my friend said that is her usual spot Korean pancakes are kind if the texture of a Chinese green onion pancake. It’s not fluffy at all. The inside is filled with a sweet peanut cinnamon gooey filling. Be careful when you eat it because it’s hot My Korean friend said its not the most authentic but it’s decent. Luckily I found the mix inside the Korean market and made it at home and it tasted exactly the same! Do yourself a favor and just buy the mix for $ 3.00 and then you can make your own! Come back again? Maybe if I’m in the area. It seems like the owner isn’t making it and a Hispanic lady is doing it now

Holy Sweet Korean Rice Pancake. For a whopping $ 1, this fresh, warm, sugary, chewy ho-tteok can be yours! It’s a glorious combination of peanuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, rice flour, goo, crack, whatever… it’s the perfect ending to any meal when you’re in K-town. The cart is parked right outside the doors of the California market off Beverly. Bring cash. Get napkins.

Dear Mr. Koo, Once upon a time your sweet rice pancakes were really good. I’m talking about the time when you used to make them yourself at the original California Market at the corner of Western and 5th. You know, back in the day when you used to make these fluffy rice pancakes that had me going fucking koo-koo over their yummilicious sugary-sweet-cinnamony-filling. Sadly, nowadays, you are nowhere to be seen and your once awesome ho-tteoks are a pathetic shell of their former glory. In other words, they fucking suck. You see Mr. Koo, the reason why people loved your ho-tteoks is because you used to give a shit about making delicious and fresh pancakes. I guess sometimes success can lead to failure and in your case playing too much golf or whatever the fuck you are doing is ruining your business because leaving your cart in the hands of lackadaisical employees who pre-make the ho-tteoks and just don’t give a shit pisses me off. I really think you need to invest in some kind of cellphone reception blocker for your cart because your workers are glued to their phones. The reason for this review is because the last couple of times I went to your cart, I was sold pre-made ho-tteoks. The problem with this is that by pre-making your pancakes, the sugary contents tend to harden creating a pancake that becomes solidified. Moreover, when the ho-tteok cools, all the oil tends to rise to the surface creating a cold, hard, and oily disc of crap. Seriously, the shit your cart sold me was so bad I was tempted to use them as frisbees with my dogs. However, if I had done that, aside from the fact that I would have probable been fined for animal cruelty, I don’t even think my dogs would have eaten your cold pancakes. I’m sorry, but all these glowing reviews are fucking bullshit and I won’t be recommending anyone to your cart. Unless… you decide to right your fucking ship… ahem, cart. Sincerely, Never eating your crap again Unilocaler. — — — — — – * If you don’t see any Koreans in the cart, LEAVE. What that means is that there is no QA/QC going on with the pancakes. * Seriously, is it that hard to keep the filling inside the ho-tteok?

On cold rainy days like this weekend, it is the perfect time for hot Hotteok. Koo’s Sweet Rice Pancake Ho-tteok Cart is a true Unilocal app discovery. Typically, we all walk right past these kind of carts in front of supermarkets, but on Saturday we literally drove out of our way a couple miles just to visit the cart. Luckily, each $ 1 sweet & warm pancake was a super cheap dessert that left me happy and full. This popular Korean street food is simple and simply delicious. Mix Brown Sugar + Cinnamon + crushed Peanuts + Honey and then inject the mix into dough balls which are pressed flat and cooked on a griddle. This is all done right there at Koo’s stereotypical cart at the store entrance from the parking lot. The warm pancakes were so yummy. It’d be hard to resist if I lived/shopped here. I’m so glad they don’t have one in front of Ralph’s or Costco because I’d gain about 15 lbs.

It’s 9:00PM in UCLA. What do we do? Go get Ho-tteok in K-town! haha I’ve never tried this place and I think I didn’t even like ho-tteok when I 1st tried it initially a long time ago. However, this place was SOGOOD. It was freshly made, with small pockets of honey? maple syrup in the little pancakes. My friends and I loved it. Even my super picky friend ;) It’s 1 dollar and the man was so nice and he even gave us an extra one. Maybe it’s because it was going to close soon but we ordered twice and both times he gave us an extra one :) I will definitely go back here. Good, inexpensive snack food. Good service. Good for a college’s student’s wallet :)

The location has changed but the game is still the same. $ 1 for a palm size ho-tteok that comes fresh piping hot like a hand warmer with smears of grounded peanuts, honey, cinnamon, and sticky brown sugar slapped together and melted within. Fellow Unilocaler Lei B was generous to hunt down this little Korean food cart parked outside of California Market. We each chewed and munched on our sticky ho-tteok and took a stroll around the market to pick up her favorite cereal and ho-tteok mix for her to experiment at home. I thought the texture of the ho-tteok was thinner than my last visit. The smooth, crisp surface was met with soft chewy texture melded with warm, sweet nutty sensations in every bite. The ho-tteok could use more fillings, especially peanuts and another sprinkle of cinnamon, but serving size was satisfactory as the combination of sugar and carbs gave me mouthfuls of deliciousness. Service was quick, easy, and friendly. Those interested must eat them like hot pockets or otherwise the chance for enjoyment may dwindle with time. With price, value, and level of satisfaction considered, 4.5 stars for the overall experience.

I thought I’ve written a review when they were at the Western location. I was just going to do a simple copy paste and be done with it! =P Unfortunately that’s not the case. I was sad at first when I heard the Western location closed down but luckily they opened up shop here. I LOVE this little cart and I always tried to grab this for dessert if I’m in the area! It’s such a simple dessert that makes me happy and it’s only ONEDOLLAH! They may be a little inconsistent with the filling but when that warm little pancake is in your hand you can’t complain. The pancake is filled with a mixture of cinnamon, honey, brown sugar, and chopped peanuts it can’t get any simpler than that. This time around I only had a few pieces of peanuts but I still loved it. Don’t save it for later, you must eat it right away!

What the heck is this stuff besides bad for you!!! Seriously it’s so good but don’t think about while you’re eating it! Dough with brown sugar and other bad stuff makes this the perfect Korean style pancake for $ 1. I came here with a bunch of awesome Unilocalers(thanks Jenny B. for hosting!!) which is located in front of a super market on 5th and Western. Perfect for the winter nights because it’s made to order. Sweet and really bad for my diet but the taste was right on. Thanks to Jay B. for getting me one during my visit. I have a friendly reminder of the stuff when I look at my hips! Get one and smile while eating one! =)

I have to say that this food cart was extremely fitting– right outside of a large Korean supermarket, where while you shop for your everyday soju, you can also pick u
