This place was THE best for cheap awesome sushi!!! It’s gone now, I hope they relocated and can be found one day soon :’(

Does anybody know what has happened to this business? It was definitely the best sushi deal around, no question about that. And I think they were doing quite well financially(or even if they were struggling, I am sure they could pump up the prices a little bit, and not many people would probably complain…) I am so sad to see it gone…

Ugh… so bummed. I strolled in thinking I was going to get a quick spicy tuna roll and found an empty food stall. They moved to another location but not sure where… the cashier said she didn’t know but it wasn’t close. It was good, inexpensive sushi and I will miss it for sure. BTW, the California Market still rocks!

Another top VALUE choice of mine. This place is probably the top Value Sushi joint in LA. Located inside the Gaju Market(California Market) on Beverly,(Please do not confuse with the other Gaju Market a few blocks away) this place is NOT a restaurant to impress your date. She will think of you as a cheap person who does not think her hot enough to take to a fancy restaurant. However, if your date is the type to value money, and know what saving means, by all means, bring her here… and then marry her later. The sushi here satisfies my sushi craves without dinging my wallet at all. How can you go wrong with 3.99 Hwe Dup Bap? How can you go wrong with rolls under 4 dollars. They are quickly made, and may not look as perfect as some fancy sushi joints, but I dare anyone to chew a few bites of both and see if they can tell the different. It all goes to the same place and comes out of the same place. Anyways. the quality is sufficient. The price is dirt cheap. And I can shop after. Or shop first and take sushi to go and eat it at home.

Good portions, cheap prices and the sushi is pretty on point. Don’t expect anything fancy, as it is inside a market.

The MOSTAFFORDABLE sushi place ever. Just the fact that the rolls are so cheap makes it taste SO good. I love it here, this is one of my default places to go if I don’t have any particular place to go. If you have an expensive tongue/taste for sushi, don’t even bother, I don’t want to hear your complaints. If you’re cheap like me and want the best deal you can ever ask for, DOIT.

LOVE this place! For $ 3.99 you can choose from a variety of specialty rolls ie: Rainbow Roll, Alaska Roll, Caterpillar Roll, Spider Roll, etc. My favorite roll is the Red Dragon Roll. It’s a tempura roll topped with spicy tuna and tempura flakes. It is deeelicious! Portions are as big as it can get, so one can easily get full with just a roll. But at $ 3.99, why not splurge and get 2 rolls! BTW, it’s CASH only.

Here’s the key thing about this place. Two people had their fill of good sushi for $ 13. Yes I know it’s obscene. It’s a crime against nature but it’s true. There are quite a few caveats though. First of all, this place is in the corner of an Asian Market so it ain’t the classiest joint in the world. You have your choice of sitting at the bar or a fold up table. The fish section of the market is thankfully on the other side, but you can definitely still smell it. Secondly, I didn’t see any drinks anywhere so I ended up walking over to the market section and buying a few bottles of water. The guy behind the counter offered me some cups so maybe they have a secret drink menu. Thirdly, almost every roll is some variation of California roll. You can get Eel and avocado on California roll. Tuna on California roll. Salmon on California roll. California roll with Tempura flakes. You get the picture. It’s basically those westernized«special rolls» that Sushi snobs hate. They do offer a nigiri combo but it also includes, yeah you guessed it, a California roll. As far as i could see, they only had Tuna, Salmon, Eel, Shrimp and some white fish i couldn’t identify as their fish choices. Fourth, they’re cash only. So as long as you can ignore those issues and you’re not taking someone to this place to get into their pants, then you’re golden. It’s not the best Sushi in the world but it’s better than anything else you can find at this price(i.e. Famima, Sansai). In fact it’s shockingly good for the price. Unfortunately these guys aren’t westernized enough to put cream cheese in their sushi, so my wife automatically disapproves. Dammit.

Dear Journal, It’s me. Paul. Today I discovered what may be the best sushi deal in LA. GaJu Sushi is easily one of my favorite places to eat. Finding a sushi place in LA where you can feed 2 people for about $ 10 is trickier than searching for the Neematoad in Lucky Duck Lake. Luckily, Unilocal led me to this gem. GaJu serves delicious suhi at legendary prices. GaJu is located inside the California Market. Admittedly, it isn’t the most glamourous place, but the food and the prices more than make up for it. Since its inside a grocery store, parking is never much of an issue. There are a few tables as you walk into the market where you can comfortably sit and enjoy your food. As I mentioned earlier, the prices are as unbeatable as Quailman. You won’t need to have the wealth of Beebe Bluff to afford a belly full of sushi here. $ 1.49 will get you a CA roll, $ 2.99 for a crunch roll, and $ 3.99 for ANY special roll. These special rolls include: Red Dragon, Rainbow, Hawaiian, Baked Salmon, Caterpillar, Alaskan, Tiger, and Dragon. Just staring at the pictures of these delicious Special Rolls(all for $ 3.99) will leave you«Helpless and Stupified,» like you’ve just been hit by the Quail Eye. I usually order the $ 7.99 Special Roll Combo, which includes a CA roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll, and any Special Roll. Add in a($ 2.99) Crunch Roll on the side, and you have a $ 10 meal good enough for 2 people that you won’t find anywhere else in Bluffington. They also offer various bowls, all of which are priced pretty low, but I haven’t had a chance to try any of them. The chefs working the sushi counter are all friendly while at the same time extremly adept at preparing your food. They’ll have your entire order ready faster than you can say«Psychedelic Fuzz.» Additionally, they are typically pretty cool with you asking for extra Eel Sauce, Spicy(Patti) Mayonnaise, crispy bits, etc. With good quality sushi and amazingly low prices, I find it hard to believe that GaJu has not amassed a rabid fan following akin to that of The Beets. After the demise of Honker Burger, GaJu Sushi has become a go to place when I’m looking for a delicious, low cost meal. If you like having a full stomach and a full wallet to go along with it, this is the place for you. But don’t take my word for it. Dun-Dun Dunt!(Reading Rainbow sound) «Honk Honk!»

Well I am not ashamed to say I visit this place about 2 times a week. Not only is it the cheapest sushi I’ve had but it is also very very decent. They have thee best deals and the guys working there are always very nice. They remember my order every time I either come in or call in to order. At first I was not too convinced to even try this place out but once I did I was hooked. It def helps when you are on a budget but need your sushi fix. I recommend the Red Dragon Roll for $ 3.99 or the Shrimp Tempura roll for $ 2.99! They also have miso soup for $.50!!! The place is clean and there is no prob with parking, the only thing is that it is CASH only! Other than that go try it but do no tell too many people about it lol!

Cheap Sushi and I mean Cheap and fresh wee haw! I have to get a little fiesty with the guys as I cant handle wasabi and despite being a regular they always forget. Yes the best cheap sushi for those near k-town, miracle mile or mid-city. It’s inside a market where you can meander along and feel very Anthony Bourdain. Whole fish on the rocks check, a Korean BBQ bar where you buy the marinated meat take it home and grill it for those summer nights, check check. I always feel like I’m on an episode of no reservations here. I wish I spoke Korean as I might get better service, but for sushi way under 10 bucks who cares! Oh it’s cash only, but there is an ATM inside and yes it does charge those extra fees, but with the left over cash you can buy a cake, dumplings or hot noodles at one of the little food stands inside!

I don’t give many 5 stars, but for the price this place charges, it’s a steal. 1.50 ca roll, 3.99 specialty rolls. There is an some variety of stuff you can get, but for the price its worth it. The quality of the fish is good not great. Service is fast and nice. Can’t really complain about anything. Reminder: only cash, and its in a market called California market, that has other restaurants which makes it even better. It’s an interesting place to visit, and you can shop for asian food products. Go try this place!

I checked this place out b/c of the Unilocal reviews, which are all accurate. This place is in a Korean Market and its not a place to take a hot date(well definitely not the first date or if you wanna front you’re a high roller!) BUT with that being said, I give this place 5 big stars! Why? It’s based on price and the quality of the rolls! The price is great and the rolls do not compare to the price! You can get a crunchy roll for $ 2.99! And the the Dragon roll and Caterpillar roll, each for $ 3.99! And it taste jus as good as if you were at a typical sushi bar. For 4 rolls, which can feed two guys, expect to pay in the ballpark of $ 15.00! Now that deserves a «WhooHoo!» Cash only!

This sushi place is not what you would expect. Its located inside GaJu Market(California Market) on Beverly and Kingsley. You would not expect a small restaurant inside a supermarket would be this good. They have a small menu, but they have all that you really need and would want. Its cheap! you can get a full Baked Salmon Roll for only $ 3.99. They also have a great special where you get California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and a Special Roll of your choice for only $ 7.99. You just can’t beat the price. I’m very fond of sushi and am keen to good or bad sushi. You will be pleased with the fresh and tasty sushi here. I go there often now. The sushi chefs are all friendly and will make your order quickly and aesthetically. I give them 5 stars for the taste and price! PS: They close at 8:30 pm, but you can still eat there if you order by 8:30 pm.

Inside the California Market is a great hole-in-the-wall sushi gem called GaJu. I’ve been coming here for a few months now. After college, I was going through some major sushi withdrawals and looked everywhere for a good sushi joint in LA that would hit the spot without hurting my wallet. My mom, of all people, suggested that I try the sushi counter at California Market. At first I was pretty hesitant… am I really gonna buy sushi from some tiny counter at a random market? Don’t let the looks of the place fool you. Their rolls are legit. Not to mention, the prices of rolls range from $ 1.49 for a CA or Spicy Tuna roll to $ 3.99 for one of their special rolls: Rainbow, Dragon, Alaskan, etc. Also, the size of the roll itself is huge. You definitely get your money’s worth here. Every time I come, I end up getting 2 rolls! The rolls are not the most amazing rolls I’ve ever had but they do hit the spot. My all-time fave roll from here is also the shrimp tempura/crunch. The sushi chefs & the cashier are pretty friendly too. Only downsides: the variety of rolls is decent but limited to around 10. If you decide to eat there, the eating area is not exactly on the cleaner side but what do you expect from a market? Lastly, I would love to see an actual menu with descriptions of the rolls. The pictures are great but sometimes I wanna know what’s inside. Also it’s CASHONLY! Other than that, this place has never disappointed me so far. I’d recommend it to the sushi-lover on a budget.

This little sushi joint is situated in a corner inside California Market. You can sit at the sushi bar, tables, or order to go — which the boyfriend and I did. The boyfriend has started to order from here a lot due to the close proximity to home(for example, just today he tried to call in an order to Noshi Sushi down the street, but they didn’t answer their phone for over an hour — too bad, missed out on some business), as well as price. $ 3.99 for a roll? Crazy cheap. The day I accompanied him, we got the Dragon Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. I must admit, I’ve become a bit snobby when it comes to sushi(I’ve eaten way too much market price stuff) so I wasn’t too impressed with the Rainbow or Dragon Roll. Something about the taste of the avocado threw me off. Not that it wasn’t fresh, it just didn’t taste great. The fish was just ok. The Shrimp Tempura Roll, however, was really good — true bang for the buck. I know I’ll be going here a lot more often since it’s so close, so I’ll be able to give a detailed update with more dishes. Until then, 3 stars. Bottom line — if you’re craving sushi at bargain prices, go here. There’s Korean food right next to the sushi bar if you want to mix it up. Price and convenience is what it’s all about.
