Wow, love this place. Best Korean food ever, and all the banchan is so tasty. Mool naengmyun is under $ 10 and the lunch specials are good on the weekends. They have the little bell for service, alcohol and the bulgogi lunch specials a great value. Place is really run down though. Two free parking lots plus street parking. Great service. Our new go to!

Unbelievable customer service! Had a spicy tripe soup and sashimi to-go and not only is the amount huge, lots of delicious side dishes and they gave the soup to us in a tuppaware!

I love this place! Variety of Korean yashik: late night time food. open late with sharp delivery and kind service. My favorite is Korean sweet and spicy fried chicken! So tender and soft chicken breast and well seasoned chicken meat just melts on your tongue as you eat. I can’t thank enough for this wonderful place in our neighborhood. Oppan Gang nam style ~^^

Do not go here! My aunt got food poisoning and fainted on her way to the bathroom. She was out for a good minute. They refused to call 911.

This place deserves higher reviews! Wide variety of Korean food, and all done really well. My parents like beef, my grandpa likes fish, and I like chicken so it’s hard to decide on a place that fits all if our tastes. Kangnam comes through! We got ssam bap bbq chicken and beef bulgogi, fish soup(), and ginseng chicken soup(). My least favorite was probably the chicken soup — but still would’ve been satisfactory. It was just hard not to compare it to the deliciously marinated and grilled bbq chicken, accompanied by unlimited fresh vegetables. The side dishes all tasted like they were freshly prepared, too! Looking around at other people’s tables, I definitely want to try the sashimi rice bowl(hwe dupbap) and the cold noodles(naeng myun) next time we come to LA! All the ladies working there are super nice as well:) It felt like eating at a close auntie’s house or something — so welcoming and kind!

Sometimes I come here with my parents. My mom likes to eat here. It’s kinda expensive here, but they give you a lot of banchans! They also have a FREE parking lot across the street. NO Valet Parking, oh yes!

Great place to get your sashimi and kbbq fix at the same place. Waitresses speak mainly Korean, so it was kind of a challenge when we had questions about the menu or request. Quality of the Sashimi=FRESH Quality of the Beef= FRESH

Love this place, it’s an old school Korean restaurant that’s been around forever. Lots of Korean restaurants pop up and close while this place endures. What I’ve noticed is that this place has a lot of regulars because they focus on the classics and it’s all about the quality. I definitely notice the difference in taste and ingredients compared to other Ktown restaurants, especially with the BBQ. I love the fact they make a lot of their stuff from scratch(like the noodles for naengmyun). They don’t have a big selection of wine, but they have a few that I really like and the prices are reasonable. We usually order a bottle of Juan Gil(Spain) or Brisandes(Chile) and they go really well with our BBQ. Count me as a regular.

Ok Korean food at a slightly expensive price. It is literally just plain Korean restaurant. Nothing good or special but nothing bad either. It is a normal restaurant. Service is a bit slow and parking is ok.

Just to reiterate everyone’s comments… yes, this is an old school Korean restaurant. Not the best Korean food I’ve ever had, but it’s good enough. They literally offer everything here, from bibimbaps(dolsot and regular), various soups and jjigaes, kbbq, sushi and sashimi, etc. Not super cheap for Korean food, but portions are also definitely on the way bigger side, especially for Korean food. Service is good(not super-friendly) and very efficient, as you can expect from a traditional Korean place. I do like the banchans they give you though. Kimchi, yulmoo kimchi, kimchi jun(Korean pancakes), stir fried bean sprouts, odeng(stir fried fish cakes), etc. Recently had dolsot bibimbap there and it is HUGE. I like that it’s marinated galbi meat instead of the ground beef. Comes with a side of seaweed soup. It was a ton of food for lunch and satisfied my bibimbap craving. Wouldn’t come here over other options in Ktown, but we come here for its convenient location.

As all the other reviews mentioned, this place is old school Korean. You’ll notice that the crowd largely consists of middle aged Koreans. Definitely no hipsters trying to prove how cultured they are in this establishment. Good clean food and classy service. They also have private rooms for larger parties. One of my go-tos in Ktown with my parents.

This is good quality restaurant. I had my family gathering here instead of going to AYCE Korean BBQ we normally go since we got tired of feeding ourselves low quality food that we don’t eat that much anyway. All of us ordered different dishes in the menu. BBQ combo set, seafood stew, spicy octopus, cold buckwheat noodle, and etc. All of them were pretty tasty and they come in pretty big portions too. I’m glad that we didn’t go to AYCEBBQ place this time and it was well worth to come here instead. We set outside on the patio and besides that it was really cold night, it could’ve been really nice to seat there. When you order Jeongol(Stew) dish there, it tells you that it’s portion for 2 people but it’s well enough for 3 people. You do not need to order more if you order that for 3 people. They offer free seaweed soup and rice for the little kids so if you have kids, it’s worth to ask them about it.

Away from the heart of Ktown but, hey! I will drive an extra 0.5miles for great food! Just right size food portion… not too big, not too small! But I can see it being little on the smaller side– compare to the most in Ktown. BUT, the quality of the food is better! Um Helllo~~ Neng myun combo! Mmm~ I liked their Salmon obento lunch box, too. If you want big portions, not so great quality food,… goto Mrs-Fastfood-obento! I got their Albap, Oh blessed the hand that molded my bowl, just to perfection! Uni was very fresh, unagi, seaweed and all the colorful roe, YUM! I like their Min-au tang. Fish tang, Fish soup, spicy fish stew… whichever sounds better! They make great food! Service is good. They are very attentive. Owner lady is such a sweet heart. Bless you for always smiling and thinking im Thai, no im not Thai! Valet parking or street parking.

For dealseekers I’d recommend the Lunch special $ 11.99 — it includes a gargantuan steel mixing bowl of cold naeng myun, a sizzling plate of beef bulgogi and banchan. Thats a lot of bang for your buck! This is old school Korean food with all the traditional atmosphere. The ajumma even acted like an Aunt telling me to eat the hot soup first before it got cold and then move on to the naeng myun. Tips: ask for scissors, that naeng myun has super chewy noodles that go on forever. You’ll need to chop it up properly to eat it.

This is where old Koreans go to eat. There is no K-pop, no all you can eat, no skinny jeans… just bunch of middle age and up Koreans getting their grub on. Kang Nam is legit Korean, authentic in flavor and service improves with your age and the position you command. Their meat(for bbq) is not up to par with other high end Korean bbqs but where they excel is with dishes like Chigae(stew — hot pot), soups(seaweed — YUM) and other old school fares which in my opinion: Tip top. If you possess an old soul or trying to convince your parents(This works only if you are Korean) that you have finally grown up and need to borrow money«one last time» and isn’t this great that you finally picked a restaurant that THEY will like for a change, this is the place for you. 3.5 stars. Happy eating — R

So my mum tricked me into coming here with her on Wednesday. She just told me we were going to try some Korean restaurant that announced a new lunch special in the Korean Times: mool neung myun with either pork bulgogi or shrimp tempura roll for $ 11.99. Since I love mool neung myun and shrimp tempura rolls, I agreed. Only to find out that we were going to Kang Nam –_– But we were already there and it had been almost two years since my disappointing experience here, so what was I to do? We went in and again they seated us at the patio… and at a table with sticky chairs, no less! My mum complained though so they moved us into their main dining area. We ordered the two lunch specials – my mum got the one with pork bulgogi and I got the one with shrimp tempura roll. They brought us some banchan, including these mini green pancakes that apparently were made with crushed green beans and oysters. Sounded weird but they tasted pretty good. They brought us a second serving of them after we finished off the initial two we got. Finally our food came out. I don’t know if they check their Unilocal page or if dining customers had complained, but their food definitely got better! The mool neung myun was pretty good, definitely better than last time. The shrimp tempura roll was just okay though, nothing special. It might be because they haven’t made it before? Well, I’m sure they made it in the kitchen for themselves to practice, but our waitress told me when she brought it out that it was the first time they made it for a paying customer. Maybe because they had just published the newspaper ad for the lunch specials? o. O My mum said her pork bulgogi was okay, although today she was eating the leftovers and she said it wasn’t good. Service was better this time, although I did still have a hard time flagging someone down to get a to-go box for the pork bulgogi. And it turns out they have two parking lots! Since this experience was much better than last time(and shows improvement), I’m changing my review to three stars. I’m still not planning on coming back here again though.
