This place is very close to my house and I’m angry at myself for not coming sooner. Food was delicious! I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants to taste some great food.

If you want simple good dumplings for less than 10 bucks this place is good :) it’s not anything fancy and it’s hard to miss being in a random shopping area but it does the deed. We got the steamed dumplings and it comes with fresh kimchee and some pickles radishes.

I tried the Chicken noodle soup. I expected to eat more noodles but instead I got more chicken. The noodles tasted okay. Kimchi tasted good. But that place was not clean. Dishes, utensils, chairs, and the walls are not clean. They gave us two extra small empty bowls and two forks for my kids. The bowls were very wet(I even can pour the water out) and I found a sticky rice grain inside the bowl and a piece of dried green onion on the back of the fork. I also found a rice grain on the chair. One of my kids sat on a rice grain and we didn’t know until we were leaving. Disappointed.

The boss of ktown kalguksoo. This place has been around a long time and blows all other newbies out of the water. The prices are fair considering the handcut noodles&portion. It hits the spot– I get exhausted waiting at bajirak(also yums) so I opt here for no line.

We paid $ 8.42 for two rolls of kimbap. They used to serve a lot bigger, I know this because I used to order this all the time. Literally it looks like they ran out of ingredients or something. When we complained, this rude lady said that I’m out of my mind because they have been serving it like this for a long time and everybody likes it and they sell this at least 7 dish a day(I don’t know if that is a lot…) I have to say that their noodles are great but their kimbap and their service are ridiculous.

This spot is located in the outskirt of Koreatown. And I honestly feel like the run-down looking restaurants are always the best ones. It’s really easy to miss so keep an eye out for it! What I really enjoy about Olympic Noodle is that the Kimchi. To really have that perfect Kalgooksoo meal, you need the best Kimchi. They provide it in this medium sized bowl so you don’t have to keep asking for extra! Normally, I order the Chicken Kalgooksoo or the Su Je Bi with Kalgooksoo. It is a huge portion for one, I never get to finish a bowl by myself. The noodle is different from Myung Dong Kalgooksoo, it has more texture and you can taste the authenticity of the noodle. If you like Kalgooksoo, I do recommend trying out this place!

I ordered the Seafood Noodle & there was only one piece of shrimp in it. I thought to myself, hmmm that’s weird. So I told the waitress & she told me, yeah 1 shrimp. I said, 1 shrimp in the whole bowl? She said, yeah 1 shrimp. So weird! $ 10.50 for 1 shrimp –_– not cool. Over all good noodles, but 1 shrimp in the Seafood Noodles for $ 10.50 ehhhh!

My daughter adores the hand cut noodle soup in anchovy broth. She invariably orders it and eats half the Kimche bowl. I tire of soup quickly so I try other dishes. The Bibimbop is unspectacular and they cook the egg before they add it to the dish(unless they only do that to Anglos). And the banchan selection is limited to one item. On our last trip I tried«Sliced Noodle in Cold Bean Soup». I tried unsuccessfully to find out more details, but ordered it anyways. It is cold vermicelli type noodles topped with slivered zucchini in a chilly pristine white broth. The broth had some body(I wonder if they make their own soy bean broth). There were spools of ice in it to keep it cold. i added some kimche to make it a pretty pale pink and add flavor. I asked a coworker what the name in Korean was. He said it was the same as in English. He said it was in the Summer food category. I liked the dish.

The best kalgooksoo around town! What sets them apart from all these other noodle places is their broth. It’s thick, flavorful, and deliciousss. I recommend getting the chicken kalgooksoo. Their steamed dumplings are also really good so try those too. You must eat copious amounts of kimchi here with your noodles as well. The kimchi isn’t very pickled it’s more of a gutjulee, which just means it’s meant to be eaten fresh and wasn’t made with an overnight salt bath of the Napa cabbage. In other words it’s like a kimchi salad lol but who cares about all this mumbo jumbo! Try it! It’s good! Valet parking $ 2. It’s probably better if you just find street parking there’s plenty to be found. Might be a bit of a walk but think of all the carbs you will be eating here D:

A place with a whole lotta memories. As a noodle soup person I’ve tried 3 or 4LA noodle places, all are 4 – 4.5 stars on Unilocal. But Olympic noodle is the best so far. The noodle, the chicken portion, the broth, the sweet Korean old lady(which is rare). They prepare your take out box so well that the soup won’t spill and the noodle won’t get soggy. OMG I miss LA.

1000th Review Clean, low-key and attractive place. We called ahead by maybe 10 minutes and so we had a table waiting for us that was set with a few nibbles like kimchi and radishes. Nice. Coming by towards the end of the night for them, we didn’t lallygag over the menu, but still found plenty of time for some perusal. Looking at the different dumplings, we were steered towards the steamed version — which would have been my choice, anyway. And these are definitely a good thing. A dozen good-sized dumplings with plenty to share. Our server recommended adding vinegar along with the soy sauce dish. As Korean food is still somewhat mysterious to me, I’m all ears. Service was generally great(though at the end of our meal, they kinda forgot about us). For entrees, three had the Sliced Noodle Soup with mixed seafood, and I had the Su Jae Bi(Anchovy Broth soup with seaweed, potato). Honestly, I didn’t taste much about anchovy, though I still really enjoyed the soup. Not briny, not salty, but still had good flavor. These are all $ 10 and pretty big. We took some of the Seafood Soups home. Two out of three felt fine with the amount of mixed seafood inside,(clams, mussels, shrimp) while one felt there wasn’t much there. I tasted the seafood soup, too, and really enjoyed the flavor. The noodles in this one are long, almost like linguini. The noodles in my Anchovy broth have more of a finger-tip feel to them: imagine a larger gnocchi. I believe all noodles are homemade. Wound up here given the menu and that they were open and the consistent 4 Star reviews. So, here’s mine, too! Park in the lot in back, or on the street.

Rabbis beware, there’s a new chicken noodle soup in town! If this soup was kosher, this place would be filled with Jewish folks! How can you dispute handmade, hand cut noodles in a rich chicken broth with generous chunks of chicken!!! It’s an extremely cold LA morning, 64 degrees on the temperature scale, people in their wool coats, beanies and scarves converge on Olympic Noodles like sharks circling their prey. Almost every table I see have the sliced noodle chicken soup. Slurping away like a débutante without manners, everybody in the room is enjoying the delicious soup. Their steamed dumplings, rice cakes and beef noodle soup are amazing as well, but sliced noodle chicken soup reigns supreme here. Adam Sandler, c’mon on down and try this place! You’ll end up writing a song!

Been coming here since I was young but forgot about it for a few years due to all the new places constantly opening in my neighborhood. But this place is clutch, especially in the winter time. It’s Definitely one of the top 5 places in Ktown to get kalguksu. Free Parking is usually available in the front but if not they have a valet for $ 1 in the back. When you walk in you pretty much seat yourself unless it’s packed which it can be at times. But I always order the Su Je Bi/Kalguksu combo with a side of steamed dumplings. The soup is always flavorful and always big enough to feed 2 so keep that in mind. The dumplings are homemade in the back and you can taste it, they use beef with a mixture of veggies/noodles which gives it plenty of flavor. Besides that they give you a self serve bowl of fresh kimchi to grab as you go along with a pitcher of ice water or barley tea. So if your looking for some good home style cooking that your grandma use to serve on cold mornings. Then make sure to stop by and warm up to some Kalguksu…

If you need kalguksu in your life, look no further than Olympic Noodle. Seriously, don’t look any further and pre-reserve a permanent spot in your heart, because this is all you will be needing. A Koreatown institution for good reason, Olympic Noodle is a treasure masked as a hole-in-the-wall. Start off with the steamed dumplings. Super thin dumpling skin wrapped around generous mounds of pork and leeks — these hot pillows are so delectable, you’re going to want to go for a second round. On to the main event — the kalguksu is a game-changer. Where to even start: the rich, milky, anchovy-based broth that adds heady depth to each bite? The perfect hand-cut noodles that bounce with most amazing, elastic chew? I think my exact note reads, «amazxzxeeeeeee». Ain’t nobody got time for spelling, syntax, or context when noodles are this good. Mix all of that seasoned soy sauce goodness found on your table into your bowl of steaming broth, pick up a few choice chunks of that ripened kimchi, and get ready to float away on a cloud. Maybe it’s hot out in sunny LA and you’re needing something cold and refreshing. Get the Dotori Bibim Guksu aka Spicy Acorn Noodles. These noodles are similar to their less-dense naengmyun counterpart, and have a wonderfully bouncy elasticity. I love chewy noodles and this dish does not disappoint. The sauce is full of sugar, spice, and everything nice — it’s good, y’all, get it. Olympic Noodle is simple, unassuming, and so, so good. If you’re in the mood for some cheap, authentic, no-frills Korean noodles, go here. Don’t mind the borderline-rude Korean man who takes your order or the maybe definitely past-borderline-rude Korean ladies who serve up your noodles — just mix in the soy sauce, get that kimchi ready, and be happy.

Best soup I have had in a long time!!! This was my very first visit today and I was just BLOWNAWAY by all the comforting goodness I was surrounded in! I ordered the steamed dumplings and Su Je Bi which is served in a light and clean anchovy broth. Here, you will find the best kimchi, ever! It’s freshly-prepares, so it isn’t fermented for longer periods of time, however, there is a spicy-sweet-savory component to this side dish. It has a juicy thickness which makes great for adding to your broth. The condiments on the table enhance your simple and delicious comfort soup. Service was very friendly. Just before 3pm, the ladies come around the dining room to remind everyone that parking tickets are issued if you are parked on the street. HOWCONSIDERATE!!! Free parking in rear for your convenience, too! Dumplings are hand-made as you can see at least two ladies preparing them with love and care. Service was really nice and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant in the wonderful air-conditioning on this hot autumn day! I will return more frequently! Thank you Olympic Noodle! You are the best!!! Aigoo…

Yes, I am super excited about finding this place, I had dinner here the other day and it was a really hot day in LA, I was craving some korean food! I ordered the pan fried dumplings and the Acorn noodle in spicy. The noodles were good, very spicy and the bowl was pretty large and I couldn’t finish it. The dumplings were ok, not the greatest, they sort of reminded my of the frozen ones you can cook at home, it was ok. I do reccomend the Acorn noodle though, it was really really good! The other thing that is good is, they give you this big clay pot of kim chee, but I didn’t realize that maybe they re-use it(that would not be ok, and really gross!) Anywho, Definately coming back for the Acorn noodles!

What We Ordered — Chicken kalgooksoo — Steamed Dumplings Chicken kalgooksoo with a big pot of kimchi on the side and steamed dumplings! A meal fit for 2! I either didn’t have high exceptions or was just really hungry. but, I really enjoyed the meal! I can’t say much for my friend… she didn’t eat much lol. Handmade noodles and plentiful chicken in a simple broth! The dumplings were super plump with a good meat ratio. Don’t mind the run down look and small parking lot. This hole in the wall is a true gem. I will be back. :)

Ths might be my favorite kalgooksoo restaurant in Ktown. This restaurant has been around for YEARS, and you ask any old-school Koreans(aka my parents and their friends) where to go for kalgooksoo, they will tell you this is the place. It took me a long time to try it though, because let’s face it, the times I come to Ktown, I’m more likely to have kbbq or sweet desserts. Well, I finally came, and this place did not disappoint! The chicken kalgooksoo was very rich without the saltiness of MSG that you notice at other places. Probably why some people might find it bland, but really, it was just rich and simple, different from bland. Noodles were cooked perfectly, and just the right texture too. A good amount of chicken, and it was delicious when you dip it in the soy sauce mixture they had on the side. I’d also recommend adding a little of the soy sauce mixture into the soup if you find it the broth a little too simple. We also had an order of steamed dumplings which was delicious. There is not much to décor, just feels like a simple, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It was full during lunch on a weekday, but the turnovers were quick. I’ll definitely be back soon, maybe when I’m under the weather, feeling sick, or hungover… it will be just what the doctor ordered. PS I don’t understand people that complain that there are only mainly noodles on the menu here? The name of this place is Olympic Noodle, hello?

I must have a big appetite because I consumed my bowl of kalgooksoo and half of the steamed dumplings. It was that good. There’s luckily parking in the back and that’s where the entrance is also. OHH how at home it felt walking in and seeing the ladies make homemade dumplings. I ordered the chicken noodle soup not spicy and it was so creamy, savory, and perfect! They are very generous with the noodles and meat. The noodles were cooked to perfection and I had nothing to complain about my bowl of soup. The dumplings were very good also. Full of meat and the skin was not over cooked at all. The sauces they had on the side complimented the dumplings very well also. I loved the sides even though there was only radish and kimchi. But OMFG the radish was so nicely pickled and crunchy that I couldn’t stop eating it until the end of the meal. If you’re a kalgooksoo lover, then this place is definitely a worth a try!
