It’s not as good as it looks. Order a breakfast burrito thus morning. It was nasty! Threw it away after a few bites, tortilla was over heated/burned. Not an actual«Mexican restaurant«. Americanize food.

The food is good here but I’ve had it from a service stand point. Of the 3 – 4 times I’ve been here they have messed up the order twice. And today, Sunday, when I walked in at 940 am, the guy at the counter told me they didn’t open until 10. I pointed out that Unilocal and the front door sign says they open at 8, but it didn’t matter. The Open sign is illuminated and the door is unlocked. I don’t understand. Not coming back.

Very authentic. Sometimes they have specialty items not on the menu. Like the Cuban sandwich. Very good!

Had a great burrito today. The chicken meat was tender, smoky, and juicy, with a great amount of cilantro and raw onion and well seasoned Spanish rice. Had a coffee on the side for $ 1 that actually tasted great. The owners are nice and seem to take pride in the establishment. Fan!

the place is horrible the girl who was cashier didnt even speak english, when i asked for a refill she thought i meant i wanted rice. idk wtf these people were thinking when they hired her she doesnt understand a bit of english. thats just the service. the carne asada i had was fat infested and had to throw away. the fish taco was a 6⁄10 it wasnt too bad. As for the beans and rice, it was disgusting.

I’ve wanted to try this for months but today is the first day I drove by and saw convenient parking. I ordered a burrito bowl with carnitas. Generous portion of meat. Excellent flavor but very very fatty. The red salsa was delicious — beware, it’s spicy enough to peel the paint off your car. You might want extra sour cream. Fast, friendly service. I’d definitely go again for a quick meal.

This place is great! I ordered lunch from here for work to feed 34 people and they were very accommodating for our budget. Everyone loved the food and said that this place was the real deal… very very authentic. We ended up getting a tray of rice, beans, beef, chicken, pork, quesadillas, veggie burritos, salad, grilled jalapenos and onions, some red sauce, green sauce, guacamole, and 2 types of salad dressing. They gave us so much food and I ended up taking home the food personally. I’m still munching on the left over chips that are still crunchy! I usually dont write reviews but this place deserves a good one. The woman even called to follow up later that night and ask how the food was. I was of course working so I wasnt able to pick up. Sorry!

It’s okay, not great. Walked in and ordered Nachos with Carnitas and a Al Pastor Burrito. Old latín couple making chit chat with the employees, and one white guy. Place was pretty slow. Anyhow, they have two televisions and plenty of seating. This place use to be a salvadorian restaurant which was pretty good but I’m sure couldn’t stay afloat with places springing up in the area. The Al Pastor burrito was huge, but more rice and beans then actual meat. The nachos had a decent amount of Carnitas. Beans and rice were premade and sitting on steam trays. Unfortunately this place is good for people that have never had decent mexican food. Place sells burgers, that should tell you how authentic it is.

Recommended by my brother, so I went to try this place out. Located in a very, very small plaza with like 5 parking spots. Luckily, there was one left. I ordered the breakfast burrito, but substituted chorizo with chicken(I’m a white meat kind of gal) and nachos. Nachos were great! You can never go wrong with nachos. Cheese and tomatoes GALORE, my favorite! My chicken breakfast burrito was good too. I wish there was some sour cream because replacing the chorizo with chicken makes it dry, but my salsa verde fixed that problem ;) My meal was very much enjoyed. The guy working there was also very friendly too! There are a lot of Mexican spots around the area, but the customer service here wins me over compared to many other places!

Second time here Food is always on point. Fresh, not greasy, tasty and Service is Wonderful! They literally wait on you hand and foot. Salsa is to die for. Try in when in the N. East L.A. area. You won’t be disappointed!

The wife and I have been here several times and really don’t get all these rave reviews, other than service get’s an A and peeps are 5 star friendly… the food has been hit and miss! Some of the issues are cut of meat but others I think depends on who’s behind the grill, inconsistent food quality/poor cooking, the menu is very basic and the selection of meats are limited to Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas y Pollo. Tostada de Ceviche/Pescado($ 3.00) Raised on seafood I’m pretty picky on what I like and I was even hesitant to order it from here but I’m glad I did, nice clean taste and balance of Veg and Fish topped with fresh slices of avocado, best thing I’ve had from them so far. 4.5-Stars Tacos Dorado de Carnitas($ 1.00) For you gabacho’s Dorado = Fried, a fried taco with carnitas then filled with lettuce, tomato, crema y queso, a regular size corn tortilla with little meat, taste was OK but it was mainly Veg what carnitas it had was good. 3-Stars Tacos($ 1.39) Not liking the tortillas they use, a bit dry and fall apart easy… would be nice IF they made their own! Carne Asada — As you can see by the photo, gristly and fatty meat, a bit dry and lacking flavor. 1-Star Carnitas — Just slightly on the dry side but decent flavor. 3-Stars Pollo — I generally don’t order pollo unless it’s Tinga or Cochinita de Pibil, but due to the limited meat selection I ordered anyway and must say it was the best of the three tacos! 4-Star Sope de Carne Asada($ 2.59) Now I didn’t watch the preparation BUT these sopes seem to be hand made? IF they’re making sopes WHY are they not making tortillas? IDK just didn’t seem/taste like a store bought sope. OK, sope was real nice, topped with beans, lettuce, tomato, crema y queso and the carne asada as you can see from the photo it’s the same fatty, gristly flavorless meat, what a shame. 2-Stars Sope de Al Pastor($ 2.59) *(see above for ingredients) Al Pastor definitely not off a trompo but has some nice flavor 3.5-Stars They do have some nice Salsa both Roja y Verde Breakfast Burrito — Chorizo con Huevo($ 4.99) *(although they do serve Breakfast, they don’t have Bacon) Nice size Breakfast Burrito filled with Chorizo, Eggs, HashBROWNS, Beans and Cheese… This«could have» been a 5-Star Breakfast Burrito! it had a nice balance of ingredients, chirozo, eggs, beans and cheese were delicious! the BIG disappointment were the HashBROWNS as you can see from the photo not only is there NO browning BUT they are translucent and way undercooked, I had to dump the undercooked potato’s and eat the rest which was real good. Coulda/Shoulda been 5-Star but gotta keep it real. 2.5-Stars Per their menu on the Weekend they do have Birria, not sure if Chivo O Res… I shall return!

I’ve heard some good reviews from my family so I decided to give them a try and they did not disappoint! Just ordered a carne asada burrito for takeout and it was delicious! The burrito was pretty big and the meat was tender, the beans, cheese and rice were proportionate. They included a green salsa with cilantro that gave an extra taste to the burrito! Will definitely order from here again.

My boyfriend and i stopped here tonight for dinner. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Right away, we both noticed the cleanliness of the place. It was pretty big inside with plenty of seating. Restrooms were very clean. They even have a tv, and at the time they were playing spanish music on pandora. My bf ordered the carne asada burrito, and I ordered the jalapeño special. The appearance of my food made my mouth water before i could even had a bite. Both were very delicious!!! This place is wayyyyy better than La Fonda. Lastly, I must give it up to them for their service. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had such good service. I will DEFINITELY be recommending this spot to my friends and family. 5 stars for food 5 stars for service 5 stars for atmosphere

The“In-N-Out” of taco places. I went to Jalapeño Grill yesterday, and this place is the real deal! Their«Tacos Al Pastor» come in this amazing seasoning that the cook told me has the tiniest hint of pineapple shreds to balance the flavor. Brilliant! I am not even into pineapples in my pizza or anything, but that taco was so different from anything I had ever had. They also have a «secret menu.» This is legit. If you are just done with a workout, ask for their Birria«protein style» and they will substitute the tortillas for lettuce leaves. Birria, for those of you who don’t know, is like a beef stew that is perfect if you are feeling a little dehydrated from a workout and don’t want a ton of carbs. It is also sometimes called the«perfect cure» for a hangover. Also on their secret menu and not to be missed is their Molé enchilada. I took a picture of this just to prove it was real. This is authentic Molé with the perfect amount of spice and the requisite hint of chocolate flavor that literally drowns a delicious enchilada before being topped off with a small amount of sour cream. It is out of control good. Must come back!!!

2 stars for the food 4 stars for the service I will round it off, generously. Didn’t like my food. It was lackluster refried beans and bad cut of carne asada. I was disillusioned by it and I wasted stomach space, but I refuse to give up on this new place and you shouldn’t either, because it could have been that one, off, day. I hope they read this and change their recipe, because if they don’t, they won’t stand a chance. I will give this place another try in a month or two and try something else.

Wow! So nice to finally get an awesome Mexican food restaurant across the street from the high school. This place has a small menu with everything you need, including breakfast, and the prices are AMAZING! I got the nachos and they blow King Taco’s nachos away. Now I don’t have to wait in line for 20 mins at King Taco anymore, here I can get excellent, friendly service from bilingual employees(I can actually talk to them!) who will go out of their way for you and all with a great big smile waiting for your approval. They don’t open until 9am but once I have a sit-down with the owner I guarantee they’ll be open at 7am to catch students and teachers on the way to school. Move over donut shop. Welcome to the neighborhood Jalapeño Grill!
