Best spot in Western Ave for burgers, I have been coming here for a long time. This place had been a part of my life already. The Lunch Burgers are one of the best in all down town LA. Addition to that, is their super yum Ham and Cheese omelet. It’s my favorite. Happy servers and fast service. Professional in dealing all their costumers. Gentleness and politeness are really evident. They knows exactly how to handle complaints and also knows exactly the descriptions of their jobs. Very exceptional and promising place.

This is one of my beloved local eateries. They know me by name and my family. That’s how intimate this space can become. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. It brings in the crowds as it should. My only discomfort is the price hike on already expensive breakfast items.

Goodmorning world, well i thought i go suppprt Jack’s this morning. Well it wasnt crowded but i waited 10 minutes just for someone to clean tables. Coffee was lousy. Pancakes taste like dough and i usually like there pancakes. The margarine wanna be butter. Looked like it came from a tub of margarine it had bread crumbs on it. Eeewwwh. Oh then my other halfs plate the order was wrong so she couldnt enjoy. Didnt recieve water until almost through with food. I ate 2 bites i couldnt take it. Disgusting, as hell i would of rather smoked a blunt then get my breakfast fucked off. I hustle hard and i try to suppprt our folks but damn. There cheap need upgrades. 2016 where in the hell are the veggie sausages or patties. Not going back and ive been going for 20 years plus. Smh… Toignorant for me Oh yeah the waitress, light skinned older lady had a fucked up attitude.

Very cozy and warm little hole in the wall breakfast place in South LA, not far from the Expo/Western station and USC. The area is not the best, but that doesn’t affect my review of the place at all. The people working here are very kind and friendly, and surely beats going to any typical chain breakfast place like Denny’s or IHOP. It is not a big place, but when I was there, it was very early and not many people had come in yet. The parking was ample, but I would imagine if it was really busy, people may have to find street parking. There was a homeless man who came in and started talking to himself and saying random things. The woman had to kick him out because he was being a nuisance to the customers — Haha. The food itself is very good and filling. I really enjoyed the pancakes with butter and syrup drenched on the top; nothing beats a classic pancake breakfast. Our food also came out relatively fast since there were just a few other people inside. I love these little family restaurants and always strive to find them because supporting them is important to me and to this area. I’m sure with the expansion of the Expo line, more people will be able to find these little gems. I encourage some USC students to check this place out since it’s a few stops away from the school.

The breakfast is amazing. Ive tried the country fried steak and eggs and the chicken wings and eggs and both were great. Not only is the food great but the service is great too. They take a while to bring your food but they try to make you feel as much at home as possible. This place has a great feel to it. I recommend you try it out if your on the fence about it.

Just been there once — last Sat. Food — Nice! Decent breakfast of eggs, grits and bacon(photo attached). Service — This is why I’m writing the review. If everyone treated each other like the staff treats their customers at Jack’s, what a wonderful world we’d all live in. Came in 10 mins before they were due to close, but they welcomed us in like old friends. When I asked what grits were they instantly gave me a sample so I could taste it before making a decision. It was nice, so I ordered the breakfast which included grits. The lady that served us was so lovely. All the staff were attentive and super nice(and really not in the ‘fake smile — I work for tips’ way. Just genuinely good people, I felt). Coffee re-filled 4 times, water etc… very attentive and sweet. We stayed a little too long and they’d technically closed, but we were made to feel so welcome. After we finished eating a different member of staff let us out through the front, and was super sweet and asked if we liked our food. As we walked over to our car parked in their little lot, two kitchen staff who’d clearly finished up and were taking a break outside(in that lot) smiled, waved and said«hope you enjoyed your breakfast — have a great day» What great people! Go there — the food’s nice(and something a little different), but the people there are so lovely. All of them.

This has got to be one if the BEST breakfasts I have ever had. Unbelievable! The grits were buttery and creamy, the eggs cooked exactly how I asked, the ground round patty with onions and gravy was divine.. .my 10 year old loved her smoked sausage.. .I can’t say enough. First time customers today, but this spot will be a regular from now on. I can’t wait until my bf tastes this food!

Best southern cooking I’ve ever tasted. No joke. I take the drive from San Diego to enjoy Jacks. I’ve now been spoiled with family home cooking outside of your personal home. You walk in, and it’s a family atmosphere that gets the juices flowing from the aroma of chicken, gravy, bacon, grits, etc. I’m in love with Jacks. You will never be disappointed. I promise.

This restaurant is great for what it is, meaning they have a pretty simple menu and what they make they make good! The fried wings are amazing and friend to a golden crisp each time. The grits are good, biscuits, English muffins and more. It’s sort of a local hole in the wall spot. It even has a juke box. Just a warning the cooking of the food will have you leave smelling like fried food, though it’s no biggie. The staff is nice. & the prices are great and the portions are HUGE! A must try.

Disappointed that I bussed across town to come try this place and they’re closed 12÷23−1÷1. Would have been great if it wasn’t listed as Open here on Unilocal.I will update this review when/if I get a chance to eat here.

OMG! Being that I am from South, GA. I’ve been in LA going on 5 years now. I’ve been to many breakfast spots and plenty of brunch, and diners too. But Jacks takes the cake! Reminded me of home. Grandmothers cooking for sure! The service was A1. All food is cooked to order. So the wait is worth it. I love the jukebox ain’t nothing like old school music with the old school vibe. With old School home cooked food. I for sure will return here with all my friends from the south cause this is Exactly what type of breakfast spot we always wanted. We just got to make it before 2pm. The 3wing breakfast! BOMB. The salmon croquettes BOMB! The porkchops Oh My, mouth watering. Trust me for this being my first time and I’m walking out of here ready for a nap. This is the breakfast spot to be. Peggy was my waitress ask for her! She’s a sweety!

Service was great!!! The food took some time, but you can’t rush excellence. I had the chicken wings with grits and eggs. Grandma couldn’t have done any better and that’s saying lot. Great spot in the neighborhood, I will definitely be a regular.

Don’t call it brunch. It’s a simple as it comes breakfast place that does Southern cooking right. Amazing biscuits, grits and meat. The chicken links are astounding — spicy, flavorful and savory. We over-ordered and regret nothing.

Yes it’s in the hood and it is a nice size hole in the wall with limited parking, but it changes nothing about this place. They have been around forever, and I have been eating breakfast here for about the same amount of time. The people here are absolutely amazing, and the breakfast is phenomenal. I have tried everything on the menu, but I am here to testify to their salmon croquettes, nobody can make them better. Eggs, grits, and biscuits all on point. You know this place is legit because they serve Alaga syrup here, and it goes great with those freshly made biscuits. They close very early and it gets pretty crowded so you can always call in a to go order. This is a must try here, believe me.

Wonderful homemade biscuits, grits, polish sausage, and corn beef hash. Feels like someone is in my kitchen and someone from the country is cooking for me.
