chances are no one looks at Unilocal before visiting this dodgy food truck – but if you do, DONOTCOMEHERE! I’m currently suffering from the most horrific food poisoning from their sketchy tacos al pastor – which were pretty unidentifiable slop. $ 10 for three tacos and a pop(which, looking at other complaints here was clearly an overcharge) was way too high of a price to pay for this misery. I will be filing a health complaint.

Homie makes the best pastor and asada tacos in downtown l.a., well at least near the financial district. Mexican food in this vicinity sucks ass! it’s gabacha style filled with canned-processed foods nastiness. Tacos run for $ 1.50 or $ 2 depending on how they feel or if they got a parking ticket. The tacos are two-shotters, they are pretty damn good =D The pastor quesadilla is delicious. I liked it a lot. so yummy but expensive. i think it was like $ 7 or $ 8. If u like mexican-mexican tacos, this is the spot. If u like or prefer gabacha tacos(Ocha et al) then you won’t like this place. Make sure you eat near your office cause the obamas come at ya hard over here =P

DISHONESTVENDOR. I work nearby so I’ve been here a few times prior to this incident. Compared to other taco stands/trucks that I frequent in LA, the food quality is subpar, to say the least. I accepted that and figured that they can get away with it because we are in the midst of dtla. Since they serve one of the better value lunches in the area. However, they have turned me away from them permanently today. I bought an al pastor burrito from them and expected to pay $ 6 like I did before. But nope, she charged me $ 7. I was confused. Later at work, I checked with coworkers who get food from them. $ 6 is the price. I was told by one of my coworkers that they do that. If they think that you can afford more, expect to pay more than the usual price. There are other places that offer better quality food at similar value, and, most importantly, have integrity. To name some — Bruno’s café, crêpe expess, LANY Pizza, and even Ocho. I suggest you to go there instead.

WARNING!!! I was downtown about a month ago and tried a couple of their chicken tacos which I thought were pretty tasty. I asked if they cater, Poly, the guy who runs it said yes and gave me his card. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly last week and after the funeral services, we had a reception planned at an event center in Anaheim. I called Poly to ask if he could cater it for 150 people. He said he could and that the menu would consist of tacos of carne asada, pastor and chicken, as well as bacon wrapped hot dogs. He got to the event later than promised and when the line formed, he was quickly overwhelmed and worked at a snails pace with his one partner. He ran out of food in less than an hour and after less than half of the guests had eaten. Dozens of starving people became angry at the inefficiency of these two guys and left to eat elsewhere. and rightly so. He then told me he had 20 extra pounds of meat and 21 extra hot dogs he could make that would feed everyone, but it was going to cost me a lot. I had no choice but to feed everyone who had been waiting in line. The line started moving even slower and people were still waiting after 2 full hours! Then, to make matters worse, he tells me he’s about to run out of tortillas, so I had to race to the store and buy some. He had to ration tacos to two per person as the line moved closer to the end because they were not at all prepared from the beginning. The fact that he had extra meat and hot dogs seemed very strange to me. I asked how many pounds of meat he had prepared originally for the 150 people and he said he had brought 72 hot dogs and 30 pounds of meat total!!! For 150 people!!! Are you kidding me??? This morning I did a little homework and contacted 4 random taco guys and asked how many pounds of meat they would need for 150 people. Every one of them said«80 – 90 lbs». Hot Dogs King only had 50 lbs, including the extra 20 lbs he ripped me off for. This guy seems nice on the surface, but he is a total CROOK and he took full advantage of a group of people grieving the loss of a loved one. DON’T EVERHIRETHESEGUYS!!! As I stated at the beginning, the chicken tacos were good the first time I had them, but yesterday at the reception, the chicken had bits of fat and cartilage in it and a majority of the guests described the carne asada as «disgusting!». They cooked with a lot of grease and a lot of stomach aches, flatulence, and explosive diarrhea resulted. Before I wrote this review, I called Poly to allow him an opportunity to right his wrong by reimbursing me some of my money, specifically the money he charged me for the«extra meat». He failed this opportunity and kept repeating to me that they do a great job and are the best. He is clearly delusional, but above all, he is despicably dishonest. Don’t allow him to swindle you. HOTDOGSKINGSUCKS!!!

Late night grub after hanging at the Standard hotel. We walked over and the guy making the food was very friendly and quick. I got the hot dog with everything on it. It was perfectly flavorful and delicious. My friends got the tacos and they looked and smelled good too. Simple food, nothing amazing, but delicious for a late night and when needing a snack.

We don’t have authentic Mexican places in downtown CBD and it’s refreshing to see this tiny food truck in the area. The menu is simple: taco, burrito, queasadilla and hot dog. Meat options: carne asada, pollo or al pastor. Tacos($ 1.50 each): the chicken taco was super good and authentic on my first visit but it was dry on my second visit. The cane asada was okay and the al pastor was semi tasty. Hot dog($ 4.00): the hot dog was juicy and kinda good because it was wrapped in bacon. Not the best quality bacon but you can’t really see the fat after it’s cooked. Special hot dpg combo for $ 6.00. I also tried the queasadilla but seriously nothing special. QUICKTIP: BETWEEN6HTST&HOPEST; SOMETIMESTHEYMOVETHEIRLOCATIONTOACROSSTHESTREET. CREDITCARDISACCEPTED. 3.5 stars! The most authentic Mexican food in DTLACBD. Hot dog kings is kinda yummylicious!

Convenient little spot if you’re looking for some late night grub after hitting Library Bar or The Standard on the weekends. Looking at the pictures, it looks like they move around but I see them every weekend on the corner of 6th/Hope. Not sure where they are on other days/times. The only downside I see is how difficult it might be for a regular person to eat here. Meaning, people who haven’t parked nearby to go to the club/bars. You’d have to find street parking or pay for parking nearby(which may not make it worth it to try) unless you live walking distance… I usually go to Library Bar on the weekends, and one weekend I drank a little too much and had to sober up. Since by that time all the restaurants were closed and I wasn’t okay to drive, Thank goodness this little spot was right across the street! Got me a carne asada burrito and it was pretty good!(not sure if it was the liquor talking) but prices were decent and portion was good! Never tried their hot dogs though… even though I now realize their name is HOTDOGSKING… I may have to try one next time… possibly this weekend! :P

Beware of over charging! I was walking home this evening and decided to get two tacos. I asked whether the vendor accepted credit card. He said yes. I asked how much tacos were. $ 2 each he responded. So I ordered two. His partner rang up the order, swiped my card and handed me the receipt to sign. Th charge was for $ 10. When I asked how two tacos that cost $ 2 a piece cost $ 10, she said there was a $ 2 charge for using the credit card. Do the math. That’s still only $ 6. But remember, neither the vendor nor his partner told me about a credit card charge. They ended up still charging me the fee, but refunding me $ 4 in cash. This may not seem like a big deal, but these guys are likely over charging customers they think are intoxicated and won’t remember or realize the charges. Please avoid or at least verify your amount before your card is swiped!

3.5 stars for this stand! The 2 people were really friendly. I ordered the quesadilla and it was kind of dry but still pretty good. My boyfriend got the hot dog and it was pretty legit, but I think I’ve had better dirty dogs.

It looks pretty clean, the quality is as good as the other food trucks. If you are a fan of dogs you cannot go wrong with these guys.
