Had breakfast there instead of the hotel. I had eggs bacon potatoes toast and coffee for 499. Service was friendly and quick. Food was very good. Restaurant was clean. Overall a very good choice.

Few things irk me more than hotels(such as the Westin) charging $ 30/person for an uninspiring breakfast buffet. Many times, as a business traveler, I have few alternatives if I just want a good, simple breakfast. Enter Highrise Café to the rescue! Wonderful variety of egg sandwiches and other breakfast items and good coffee! Man at the counter was friendly and welcoming. Our whole breakfast for two was less than $ 15 and only steps away from the Westin’s primary restaurant.

I recently attended the Special Olympics in Los Angeles and stumbled upon this gem of a café. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent. Their breakfast omelettes were awesome. I plan on visiting this café again when my business travels take me to Downtown Los Angeles again. Fully recommend this café to anyone. Say hello to Mom & Pop.

Gyro was bland. Should have gone across the street to George’s but thought id give them a try. Won’t be back for that but maybe breakfast. 3 stars though because I like mom and pop kinda places. And the fries were fresh!

After my nightclub event I was really hungry and stumbled upon this place walking around the Westin to meet up with my team. The owners were surprisingly running the shop at 4am. They were very kind and even though some of the items on the menu would take a while to cook they cooked it for me. They didn’t limit their vast menu only to certain items. I liked that. Ordered a few items for my team. I tried their breakfast burrito and it was one of the best I’ve had. Scrambled eggs, hash browns and cheese in it. Didn’t know at first if the great taste was because of the liquor or not, but I did save half for the morning. After sobering up I ate the other half and it was confirmed it was a great burrito. If you need an after hours spot to eat at in DTLA, recommended.

This is the only place I know that has a fried egg sandwich the way I like it. Order to your taste and they will make what you want. Personally I like two fried eggs over easy on white toast with bacon. They do it perfectly. The food does come out on foam plates or togo in foam containers. Don’t expect anything too fancy. On occasion I have not made it clear I wanted a sandwich so be very clear what you want and you should be happy. I’ve only had the breakfast so that’s all I can comment on but I’ve been coming here for years. Sure the owner is not a terribly friendly guy although recently he’s been smiling more. He and his wife work really hard, the place is worth a try for a quick good meal.

Easy place to get a good breakfast for less with two of the most hard working husband and wife team. Thank you for your great service and hospitality! From your friends in Colorado!

Was on my way to a 7:30am meeting at the Westin and this was all I could find open for a quick«breakfast» ordered egg/bacon on a bagel and found them flavorless and ridiculously small. On top an older guy who appears to be the owner was rude & grumpy… If its early in the am and u want to start your day with a smile def avoid this place

The only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the always angry owner gives this place a certain character. It’s worth coming here once to experience the grouch.

Like the previous poster, I myself also ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and at first, it was alright since it was made fresh and hot but then I realized, it doesn’t even have that much meat in it and the fries were somewhat big, not the thin type. All in all, the reason why I went in there is because my wife went to Cap’n Lees for her lunch and I was in the mood for a sandwich so I gave them a try. But I think that will be the first and the last time. I’m just not sold on their food. Service was alright but no smile or anything. Don’t these business owners know that a smile will always bring customers back. Take notes and put that on a sticky!

The only reason why I eat here is cuz my coworkers always seem to wander into this place. I don’t know why, it’s not like the aroma of the spam like gyro meat grabs a hold of your nose and reels you in. But I guess compared to the other craptastic cheapie lunch time joints in the Bonaventure… this place isn’t the worst. The guy at the register reminds me of the soup nazi… scary dude.
