Good burgers all the time. They stay consistent. Just call ahead or you’ll be waiting a while.

Best burgers I’ve had, everything it fresh which is y they take so long to have your order ready. My advice order in advance otherwise you’ll be waiting 30 – 45 minutes on there busy days.

what a gem of a restaurant located in the heart of the badlands. the whipper burger is my all time favorite burger and quite even possibly my favorite meal ever. they offer plenty of free toppings and refills are also free. the staff are great and always attentive, even when it’s poppin’ off in there like a 2 Chainz concert. the prices are amazing and they strive to bring high quality food for a good price to the community. you might be pestered by a homeless man while eating your grub but you’ll be feeling blessed after the first bite. Mama Hawkins is my hero!

I must say, this place lives up to the hype. I had a double cheese and bacon burger that cost $ 9.99($plus tax). It was huge and comparable in size to the Fatburger XXX. All burgers are made to order and you will wait, even if there isn’t much of a line. Both patties were really big(I’d say an easy ½ pound each), very tasty and seemed to have about a 20% fat content which is in the strike zone for burgers; both were cooked to «medium». I was also impressed with the bacon; two large, thick slices which were crisp but not so crisp that they broke apart and crumbled as you ate the burger. The cheese was OK and that’s one area I think could be a bit better but nothing really to complain about. I will be back but the next time I’ll stick to the single burgers. The staff and service was very friendly and made me feel like a regular. I also really liked that the kitchen was playing old school Motown/Philly tunes which kept me entertained during the wait. On other notes, there is very little parking and the areas to eat are outside and pretty rustic. For me that was OK but be forewarned. When it comes to overall burger bang-for-the-buck, this place lives up to its hype as The Best Burger in LA.

The lack of parking is worth overseeing for any burger made from the angels in this kitchen. The meat was cooked perfectly and the cheese laid there in it’s golden nature. The Apple-smoked bacon bites you back with every bite. And the lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and onion were guardians of the galaxy, providing a fresh and complimentary taste to every nibble. Hands down, one(if not the) of the best burgers I’ve enjoyed.

Great food, great quality at great prices. Would have received 5 stars. But the wait for the food is terrible. I phoned in my order. They said give them 25 minutes, which I did and got there and still had to wait 20 minutes. This is the 2nd time this aha happened. And the 2nd reason for a star subtraction: parking is terrible. Other than that is u want great flood and have 30 minutes to stand in a small cramped space and wait, then head on over to Hawkins.

Let’s just say off the top the burgers are good. Now the service is horrible. I am a regular, I happen to have an allergic reaction to cheese. I have been there four times back to back, each time explaining in detail my situation. Each time cheese has been on the burger. Now, I Have already waited almost an hour, now I have to wait another 30 minutes. Too much hassle for a burger. I don’t recommended simply because the cooks are unconcerned about service. I’m done.

I love burgers! I and a team of friends every week select a different place to go and do a secret review. When we found Hawkins House of Burgers well we have now become regulars. Hawkins House of Burgers is one of the few places that’s cooks the burger fresh and all the staff seem to care and enjoy working there. The burger selection is incredible and there is something for everyone! The great selection of the condiments are amazing with several mustard, ketchup, Stringed onion rings, roasted red peppers to name a few. I have been over 40 times now and every time its been consistent and the taste has been great! One of my favorite burgers is the double burger with stuffed cheddar!

I came here because I was in the area and Unilocaled a highly positive reviewed place. Hawkins was at the top of the list. I also remembered seeing it on TV a while back, so I said why not? Upon arriving I noticed that we are not in the best area but based on the people in line, it was clear that this was a destination restaurant and so I felt safe. I was greeted by a gentlemen at the register who said he was working there for a year. He was extremely welcoming, patient and kind. He took the time to answer our questions even though it was so busy. We ordered a double burger with pastrami and although it came with all the standard fix’ins you could add things like grilled mushrooms and onions and jalapeños for FREE. This is the best thing. While we waited we got drinks at the drink window and the girl was also so kind and sweet. She gave us some strawberry lemonade that they make with fresh strawberries to try when she found out that it’s our first time. So the burger, holy holy this should be illegal. Yes it’s good, but the burger not only requires big hands but you really need to stand up to be able to properly handle the burger. It is so big, you can split it with 2 or even 3 people. The patties were thick beef, which tasted fresh and was so perfectly cooked through. They also give you thick fries and plenty of it. Really this is a hamburger experience everyone in LA should have.

Wow … What a burger!!! These guys know what’s up. Forget about what city it is located in. There is a reason why they claim to be he best burger in Los Angeles … Well you have my vote. I came here for lunch around 12:30. The restaurant looks like it was out of a house(probably is), not too sure I didn’t do an inspection, I was overwhelmed with the level of customer service, hospitality, friendliness, amazing smells, interesting characters waiting for food, pictures of all the special foods(one burger looked like it could feed a family of 8) AND the menu that can please anyone. Folks … Forget fatburger, this is it right here. I ordered a double meat with pastrami, all the toppings plus jalapeños. You can add a slew of other toppings for no additional charge(it’s really awesome). Combo came with steak fries seasoned perfectly and a drink. About the drink … A large assortment of drinks to choose from … I ordered the southern sweet ice tea … Could have used more sugar. The young lady behind the counter advised the black sweetened tea would be better … But she had come to find out she was all out :(we got to talking and she hit me with what was THE most amazing strawberry lemonade I’ve tasted. Mind you, not he biggest fan of strawberry lemonade. Tried it several places in the past … Just not for me. I told her«No» however … She insisted and wouldn’t take no for an answer. It looks good, tastes unbelievable … Just like candy. SOLD. Back to the food… When I come back here, it’s a single patty for me. I am a fairly large individual(5’11″ 200lbs) and my order of double meat and pastrami is just too big. I couldn’t get my mouth around this burger. I had to hold it with two hands … It’s that big(that’s what she said?) Still quality of the meat and pastrami … 5 out of 5. Great bun, good veggies. I probably won’t eat dinner tonight … But it was well worth it! You guys killed the game here with your burgers and I’m thankful for the experience you have provided me.

one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Just look at the pictures and tell me what u think. Ingredients are fresh and portion is big. It makes me happy to eat it. I asked for extra grilled onions and everything in black and red and I recommend u doing that.

— Cheese burger w/eggs & bacon = ~$ 9.50, This was a big burger and the price justifies its size and taste, especially with the 20% off from Unilocal.I didn’t feel the egg or bacon added a lot more flavor to it. It probably would have been better just by itself, but definitely one of the better burgers out there. 4⁄5 — Chili Cheese Fries w/Carne Asada & Pastrami — ~$ 10, The fries are thick and not as crispy as I would like them but they were good enough. I’ve had this food item(often called DUI) at other places and this one has the best cheese. It taste like real dairy cheese and is nice and greasy. They don’t skimp on the toppings. 5⁄5 OVERALL The one bad thing about this place is that it’s in the ghetto, and I mean the REALGHETTO. Lots of scary and dangerous looking people. I felt like a movie extra in that film Straight Outta Compton. And if you are a woman you WILL get checked out by these people who have no shame in it, no matter how ugly you are. I could only imagine, if you come to pick up your order in this cramped little space and start to leave, someone may try to squeeze your hamburger buns. I’m giving this place 5⁄5 only because of the 20% off, otherwise I would give it 4⁄5.

After seeing pictures of the Hawkins special, I managed to convince two friends to go. We came at night for dinner, which was a bit of a mistake. There was no parking right in front so we had to walk 2 – 3 blocks each in a sketchy neighborhood. It took about 25 minutes for our burger to come out. It comes wrapped in foil and overall just looks ridculous. We started eating the burger(with forks and knives) until we started hearing gunshots. We weren’t sure what we heard at first but we decided to get out of there after the third or fourth one. The burger is so huge you really can’t eat it as a burger. The chili was not good(too bland) but everything else was great. I wished there were more veggies though. All in all it was a good experiences but I think I would just get a regular burger the next time.

I came here with my cousins a while back. The reason we came here was because we saw this huge burger on an article — The Hawkins Special. We ordered two of the Hawkins Burgers(3 meat patties, 2 eggs, bacon, hot link, chili, pastrami, and a side of fries and a drink) for about less than $ 20 each which is pretty good considering all the stuff that’s inside this monstrosity. It took a bit for the food to come out, but once it did we were impressed. Needless to say, we didn’t finish the burgers but it was amazingly good. It was piping hot because everything was fresh of the grill or fried. The patties were thick and juicy, the eggs were runny, bacon was crispy, pastrami was peppery and the fries were really crispy. I finished about half the burger and I felt like I was gonna poop baby burgers out of my butthole. Definitely worth a try if you are into eating challenges or if you just want a really good burger. Parking is challenging but we found street parking.

The best burgers you’re going to find in this area hands down! I’ve been to Hawkin’s more than once so this isn’t new to me. However, this is the first time I’ve ever ordered the Hawkin’s special. This burger is massive!!! I was able to eat half before throwing in the white towel. Most burgers at Hawkin’s are pretty big in portion as well and they’re delicious. That’s what I love about this place… nice size burgers with tons of flavor from ingredients that you can tell are fresh in both look and taste. The burgers also have a home cooked feel to them which I like as well. Nothing like a good home cooked burger. I’ve always left this place stuffed and satisfied. If you’re not full after having a Hawkin’s burger, then you have one hell of a hunger/metabolism. There’s also a 20% off offer upon checking in on Unilocal so don’t forget to do so if you have the app. Discount or not, Hawkin’s serves up great burgers and is worth every penny. Dinner 10÷4÷2015

Going to Hawkins House of Burgers is like going to your best friend’s barbecue on the weekend… if you’re lucky enough that your best friend makes simply the best burgers around. There is such a down-home and friendly feeling walking into Hawkins. Your order is taken promptly and you know that it’s fresh because this is NOT fast food. They take their sweet time making it right and trust me, it’s worth the wait. You will leave with a cloud of smoke floating out with you that permeates your entire being and tells you one thing: these burgers are good. I’d first heard of Hawkins House of Burgers at the library. True story. While taking in the«To Live and Dine in LA» show at the Central Library downtown, esteemed Unilocaler Gary I pointed out a wonderful video to me featuring an interview with the founder this very restaurant. And the burgers looked fantastic. Bookmarked it and went as soon as I could. First of all, the bun is simply divine. Gigantic, soft, maybe with an egg white glaze: this is the best hamburger bun on the planet. FIVESTARS+++++ for the bun. The hamburger patty itself seems very authentically homemade and was grilled to perfection. It’s a thick patty that crumbles divinely as you eat it, not one of those cloned machine-pressed patties you’ll see at a fast food place. The lettuce, tomato and fixings were fresh. This is a REAL burger. I upgraded to the sweet potato fries(they’re health food, right?) and they were interesting, dusted with cinnamon and sugar I think. For great service, an authentically American dish served up just right, and for best Non-Fast Food burger in Los Angeles, Hawkins it is. Parking on the street or in the lot right across the street.

2015 Unilocal challenge 101⁄365 ***My 600th review and quest for the best burger*** Love at first bite. Knocking off another lingering bookmark in search of my 5 star burger and this is a 4.5 close to 5. I was driving on the 105 stuck in major traffic on a Friday night and made a pitstop in a un familiar area to try this famous burger. Located deep in the hood off the 105 and Central Ave outside of Watts directly across from a huge housing complex. The place is nothing fancy at all. Leave your fancy pants home. It is a hole in the ground corner shop that sells burgers, dogs and random stuff like toilet paper. Parking is challenging, with limited street spots, but there is a lot next door at the Hawkins Market that can accommodate you. The area can be intimidating at dusk with the locals lingering, asking for stuff, staring, and trying to sell stuff. But they were all nice to me and I had a few conversations with them. As soon as I smiled at them and offered kindness I felt more at ease. My dog was with me, one gentlemen asked if she was protective of me. You bet she is. Luckily there was no growling. If this type of neighborhood bothers you, then bring a buddy. But, it is not that bad. The double cheeseburger, minus the sauce was ginormous and super juicy, full of flavor. I am glad they cut it in half or I’d never get my mouth on it. It was topped with melted cheese, lettuce, pickles and grilled onions. It was the biggest burger I’ve had. I could’nt even finish the second half. The only thing that bothered me was the 20 minute drive home aided to the mutation of the lettuce and sinking of the bun. I am 100% positive that if I ate it right off the grill on their patio, these minor problems would be obsolete. I would also like more cheese. Service here was amazing. Tinka, I think that was her name was super duper friendly and patient with my questions. She even offered me a full size sample of their strawberry lemonade while I waited, which was sweet and sour and delicious. Every person that walked in had equal treatment. She extended her kindness to each and every customer, most were regulars or locals. I paid, had a 20% Unilocal discount and was in and out in about 15 minutes. A double CB and fountain soda was $ 7.77. That was a sign that I’d be okay all alone here. I am not sure if its the best yet, but its the best Ive had so far, and the best in LA. The service is what made a 4.5 burger hit 5 stars. Will have to return and bring some company. I am a fan! Review #600
