IDK why Unilocal shows this place is closed when I was just here last week and I have nothing but amazing things to say about it. I’ll be very sad if it is in fact closed because I was planning on making this place a regular location for lunch. I tried their fish tacos and shrimp ceviche and wow… the fish taco was amazing. the fish was fresh and flaky and crunchy! The condiments on it were all very delicious and the tortillas were perfect. They are a very good size too, so one of them was plenty for me. The ceviche was out of this world!!! It was so fresh and tasty! The shrimp were perfectly cooked and chopped, the pico the gallo was fantastic. Everything about their ceviche screams fresh and healthy. They give it to you with a lot of crunch tortillas and boy where they fresh! I ate them all! Overall this place gets more than 5 stars in my opinion. I’ll be checking up on it this week in hopes it didn’t close!!!

Best place to get fresh ceviche or fish tacos! Love their Shrimp Dorado’s! Lookout for the great Daily Specials and Taco Tuesday’s when you can get $ 1.99 Fish Tacos & $ 2.99 Shrimp Tacos Great local spot. They have a sister store on Cesar Chavez too PS. As of 3÷15÷16 they were OPEN

Taco Tuesdays = $ 1.99 fish tacos. Three large tacos with a horchata for $ 8.50? Very delicious and very good deal. Tacos were big, lots of fish, and tasty. Wish they had a Spicer salsa but overall very happy with what I got for what I paid for. Don’t think I would come here if it wasn’t Tuesday.

This is my 2nd review. My previous review last year was 4 stars, now it gets 3 stars. The prices have risen by 25%. I get it, they are in an up and coming hipster neighborhood(Silverlake) and should be able to charge as much as the posh eatery next door. Here’s the problem, The Silverlake eatery next door works really hard to keep their food quality above a certain bar. While you, El 7 Mares, do not. This was ok when your burritos were $ 6.00. Your quality was to be expected at this price point. Sometimes we want a cheap burrito and aren’t too picky about the ingredients. But when the burrito went up to $ 8.00, well, now I’m looking a little harder. And it ain’t an $ 8.00 burrito. Mixto on Hyperion serves an $ 8.00 burrito, and it’s worth every penny. I do think a restaurant that is an old fixture in a gentrified area should be able to charge more based on location, but they need to make some changes first. People are less forgiving of the hole in the wall quality when they no longer get the hole in the wall prices. Another place down the street, café tropical, just did the same thing. $ 4 for their small coffee now??? I’ve always liked their coffee and fun and gritty atmosphere, but part of it was the price. Now I might as well go down to LaMill or Intelligencia. The quality is certainly better at either one of those cafes. And they now are the same price. You can’t just raise your prices and make no changes. It simply doesn’t work that way. I am a creature of habit, but I’m also a creature of value.

New management basically doubled prices and it was barely worth coming here before. Not surprised there’s no line anymore.

Every time I am near Descano Dr. I have to stop here and check if they have aqua chile. Its one the best tostadas I have eaten in my 12 years being in LA. Thank you El Siete Mares !

Haven’t been here in years and when I did it was 102 degrees. A typical LA day for one of the best shrimp and fish tacos in the city. A fresh taco in one hand and a Coke in the other. A classic Angeleno lunch accompanied with the slapping of flys.

Typical fish and shrimp tacos. Not spectacular but definitely nothing wrong with them. Also pretty cheap and easy parking.

Delicious fresh fish and shrimp tacos! The shrimp ceviche tostadas were also super fresh and tasty! Prices are decent. $ 25 for a #2(fish and shrimp tacos with drink and chips and salsa), #3(2 shrimp tacos) and 2 shrimp ceviche tostada. Will definitely be back to try more of this deliciousness!

Hands down the best fish tacos I’ve ever had! You honestly can’t go wrong with any of their dishes as their shrimp and fish are all perfectly battered up and served fresh. Hot sauce lovers, rejoice! Each outdoor seating comes with the biggest Tapatio bottle you’ve ever laid eyes on so there is no shortage of spicy. Tip: –They only have outdoor seating, so beware of flying fish on windy days. –THEYACTUALLYHAVE A PARKINGLOT! Although small, but still a rarity.

FRESH. DELICIOUS. CHEAP. Ordered #1 and #3 – fish tacos and shrimp tacos. I’m not normally big on shrimp tacos, but these were delicious! Bite-sized and fried to perfection, no extra sauce needed. The white sauce goes especially well with the fish. The ratio of fish to lettuce is ideal; I never got stuck with a mouth full of greens, always had plenty of protein. Each order came with chips and a drink. Food came out fast and ready to eat. Eat in the covered outside area with a view of their octopus artwork. Good vibes all around!

Came here before a show at Los Globos. I’ve driven by El Siete Mares probably a gazillion times, but this was my first trip. I had the #1(2 fish taco, chips, and a soda) and my boyfriend had the 4 taco meal(carne) and a side of seafood. The food was delicious and fresh, I really enjoyed my fish tacos(not as good as Las Brisas down just past Chavez/Mission, but still good) and the price point was fair. They have a large parking lot and limited outdoor seating(which gets cold). I would return.

Parking here can be a bit of a struggle as they can only fit less than a dozen cars, but the fish tacos are well worth it! The place itself is just a little shack with 7 picnic tables outside and isn’t the best looking, so maybe taking your food to-go is your best bet. I ordered the #1 which consists of 2 fish tacos, chips, and a drink for $ 6.49, which is a pretty good deal in my opinion. These fish tacos are awesome and delicious! The fish at many other places look like deep fried nuggets and are barely distinguishable, but you can actually make out the individual pieces of fish in these tacos. I took my order to-go and even after a 10 min drive they were still crunchy yet moist. The tacos are supported by 2 tortillas and are topped with cabbage, tomatoes, and crema white sauce. They even include a separate salsa and limes which is always a nice touch. The chips were crunchy and not overly salty and the Jamaica was refreshing and just sweet enough. If you want great fish tacos come to El Siete Mares! I will definitely be coming back!

This place is so good! Small spot in silver lake that offers fast seafood. They have specials every day of the week. The day that we went(I believe Thursday) they offered a special on a tostada(I believe it was fish) for just over one dollar.(really bummed out that we saw that after we ordered our food :/) Friend and I ordered a shrimp cocktail and 1 fish taco with a large horchata. The shrimp cocktail was refreshing and delicious. Loaded with fresh shrimp, and topped with big chunks of avocado. They serve it with saltine crackers. It was the perfect amount to split with a friend. Friend ordered a fish taco. It was huge! I took a few bites and it was so yummy. The fish taco comes with a side of chips and salsa. Really enjoyed the salsa. Tasted smokey and spicy. Overall would come back. Cheap no fus and fast. The only downside is the seating. Outdoor with few tables that directly face the sun. We went on a hot day and literally felt our back and neck baking in the sun lol. Btw be careful leaving the drive way. Every single car that we saw leaving scraped the bottom of their bumper lol!

Who serves the best fish tacos in all of Los Angeles? Why El Siete Mares of course! It doesn’t matter if you have to trek half way across LA to get to this place; it is worth it. This place is beautiful in its simplicity; a walk up window to place your order and a few outside tables if you so choose to enjoy your food while you’re there. The menu offers you a wealth of options. You may think the prices are a little steep for a place so unassuming but once you receive your food, you’ll understand what an amazing deal you’ve actually gotten. I opted for the fish taco and shrimp cocktail combo; my fish taco was cooked to perfection and my shrimp were huge! There was plenty of food for more than one serving. This place will remain on my must-go-to list every time I set foot in LA!

BACKGROUND: Located off Sunset Blvd. in the heart of Silver Lake this overpowering colorful walk up hut is impossible to miss. STATS: Specializes in dishes of seafood kind ESSENTIALS: Have a hankering for seafood Money of the paper or plastic kind EXPERIENCE: Overwhelmed with all the menu options I settled on the #3, two fish tacos, which arrived with chips and a drink all for $ 8.49 plus tax. I was somewhat let down by the amount of greenery on top of the couple small bits of fish. Although not typical, a side of some bulblets of garlic would have been nice. The upside is, although it’s a fast food type joint, they do deliver food to your table, which by the way is covered outside seating only. Overall, the experience and the food was meh. Doubtful I’ll ever go back. Free parking in back. #fastfood #Silverlake #seafood #mexican

Went on a monday night for the $ 1.99 shrimp tacos and they were pretty good but nothing terribly exciting. My friend got a fish burrito and we both thought it was kinda bland, but I’m guess El Siete Mares isn’t really known for its burritos. We both agreed that the salsa was our favorite part of the meal. This is a great place to eat on a budget, especially if you’re a big fan of seafood. However do not come here expecting anything out of the world fantastic.
