Prices are too high for what you get, but I think it’s an L.A. Thing. I’m not from here. Lol Wonderful watermelon mint drink $ 5 eek Got the biggest bowl, added avocado and masago with kale. It was delicious and I ate it all immediately. Just $ 25 for one person is steep(I’m from the I.E., we’re poor) great food!!!

Undoubtedly my favorite poke place in LA area thus far! I’m not a fan of build-your-own… mainly because usually a poke spot with a predetermined menu knows what’s good. sometimes the owner is a native Hawaiian as well.(like Jus Poke) The flavors that Ohana gives are perfect. The perfect combination of sweet, citrus-y… not heavy… I hate when sauces cover up the flavor of the fish. Ohana definitely does not do that. At least, with the salmon and tuna choices. There’s plenty of seating available for people that want to dine in. The décor is really cute, too :) The only downsides are parking(kind of hard to find street parking) and the price(not on the cheap side). but these are not reasons for me to not come. If the food is good, I’ll most likely be back. And Ohana, I’ll be back!!! Soonsies.

I’ve given ohana three tries. The first two were not of any worthy note taking. However, this time around the quality of the fish was remarkably better. I ordered brown rice, but it didn’t appear to me that is what they put in my meal, but starvation led me to eat it anyway. Note: the rice was too warm and it was slightly throwing off some flavor of the entire bowl. The ohana poke seemed way too bland for me, it is said to be their most delicious but really had no flavor at all. The spicy tuna was well marinated. All the other toppings it comes with id say are delicious. Especially the kimchi cucumbers, it’s an addition I recommend. Also don’t fret, add that avocado and masago. They really need to change up their coconut water though, a sip of that and I was out the door.

On the busy streets of Sunset Boulevard is Ohana Poke Co. A small establishment with a lot of flavor to back it up. Poke has been the hot item in LA, with more popping up every month! This little shop has adopted the less traditional approach and allows the customer to build their own poke bowl. They offer three sizes, and kale salad to satisfy the hipsters in the neighborhood! The poke here was unique in that they all had individual sauces and flavors dedicated to the fish of your choosing. Toppings allocated to your bowl was limited, but so were the choices. For a whopping $ 15, you can order yourself the very large(which I was able to share), but it was definitely worth the price you pay. The salmon was soft and buttery, I enjoyed the quality of the fish, the tuna was equally delicious! The kale complimented the flavors of the fish, and offered a new flavor and texture to contrast the soft fish. To add an extra crunch I recommend the kimchi cucumbers. A wonderful place with quality ingredients! You won’t be disappointed by the flavors of the sea!

Probably won’t come back here again but it wasn’t necessarily bad, just wasn’t anything that good either

First time coming here food is good; but a lil more pricier for a small. I was in la today for work; and wanted to try a new spot. Fish consumption is a lil smaller than other spot. The toppings are more than spicy tuna mayo but it was overall good.

UPDATE: As of April 27, 2016, the clowns at Ohana Poke have removed all 6 photos on their Instagram page featuring their elusive green colored tortilla! Would have been nice to have heard from you Eric. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Disappointing and dishonest. I came here b/c I was interested in trying their new pokerito(poke + burrito hybrid) which they introduced on their Instagram page(OhanaPokeCo). According to them, «Our Pokerito is wrapped with a CILANTRO-JALAPENO tortilla». The tortilla shown on their 6 Instagram photos is GREEN in color. Sounds interesting and potentially yummy, right? That’s what I thought. When placing my order, the cashier also gave the same description *and* it was written on their menu. What I received however was a pokerito made with a PLAIN white TORTILLA. Now normally, this probably won’t be a big deal except for what happened next. I asked the same cashier about it and showed him the Instagram photos. His reply? That they had«ALWAYSBEENBROWN». *MINDBLOWN* Despite the 6 photos of a pokerito wrapped in a green colored tortilla on their Instagram page, I was told that plain tortillas were always used. Mediocre poke partially consumed(that green cilantro-jalapeño tortilla might have helped), I left. Which begs the question… Does this elusive cilantro-jalapeño tortilla even exist???

Love this place! It’s a little bit on the pricier side for such a small place and poke in general but it definitely is worth it in terms of quality and taste. Honestly one of the best poke places around. Each fish has a different unique flavor and all of them are equally amazing! Be sure to add avocado and masago — definitely a nice touch. Also make sure to come to happy hour! Amazing prices of bomb beer and amazing wine! Lastly: customer service is what makes me keep coming back in addition to the taste!

Loved it! My first time eating a poke bowl and I loved it. I will update my review when I try other poke bowls. I ordered a Tuna Poke Bowl with seaweed with Olive Oil Kale, Ohana Shoyu Tuna, and Wakame Seaweed Salad!

I’ve been searching for the best poke place in LA but this place ain’t it. Very solid poke joint but it doesn’t evoke that«I want to come here all the time» feeling. Ohana has three sizes for poke bowls. Went with the middle size(kine, which is the«big» size – kind of confusing) which was more than enough. You choose your base(white rice, brown rice or olive oil kale) plus type of poke(spicy tuna, shoyu tuna, spicy mango tuna, etc) and side(seaweed salad, spicy cucumbers, ponzu glass noodles). You can add avocado or masago for extra and all bowls come topped with edamame, furikake, wasabi peas and scallions. My bowl: half brown rice half kale with shoyu tuna and spicy cucumbers. Tuna was nicely seasoned and not over-drenched in salty sauce. Tuna was cut into good-sized pieces and mostly fresh, but there were a few pieces that were slimier and a bit fishy. Generous portion of fish but for the price I would expect all of the fish to be fresh and not just select pieces. Service was not great. Cashier girl was clearly unhappy and looked like I was making her life so difficult when I asked about sizes(was trying to decide between small and medium). Would come here again but only if I’m in the area. No lot and parking can be tough.

The Silver Lake location of Ohana Poke is a somewhat overpriced but generally good poke shop. Compared to the downtown location, the prices here are notably higher. The extra large size here costs $ 17+ and is the same size as the large size in downtown, which is $ 15. Although the quantity of fish provided here is still excellent, with 1⁄3 to ½ of the bowl filled with fish, it’s not as good of a value. I also didn’t like the spicy tuna poke bowl or the cucumber kimchi side as much as I did the shoyu tuna with seaweed salad. The spicy tuna had a bit too much mayo which overpowered the fish and made the whole thing kind of soggy. Though I’m sure the fish is very fresh, it’s hard to tell with so much sauce. The cucumbers also had too much liquid which pooled at the bottom of the bowl. The flavor of the cucumbers was good, but not amazing. The shoyu tuna with seaweed salad on the other hand which I tried in the downtown location was much better. The freshness of the fish is much more evident in this dish. The flavor is also solid, more on the authentic side than the more creative creations elsewhere. The seaweed salad is fresh and has plenty of interesting flavors and textures without overpowering the fish. The white rice was also on the better end as well. If you’re looking to get the classic shoyu tuna poke, the quality is still very good, and the portions are very generous. However, if you have the choice, you’re better off going to the downtown location.

This poke is fresh and amazing; I’m also a super fan girl of anything Eric touches(plz see rave review of Sopressata and I miss Black Hogg every day). You already know the food is good(fresh, balanced, salty, sweet, warm, cold, it’s just utter perfection). No ones mad at that. I did come however to offer my appreciation for a service fee, especially given the nature of the way you are serviced(walk up and pay first). Very pro service fee versus the traditional tip approach, I’m happy to offer what should be added on top of a meal price if it means that the ingredients stay fresh, the restaurants stay unique/local, and the servers are happy. 12% is well worth it. Thanks as always for a nice experience and great quality food, y’all.

I love poke !!! It’s a no brainer you should love things that sound very similar to pokemon! It’s not a poke bar like other poke places, but the food was still amazing! Even with a small order, you can pick two of each item: base(brown rice, white rice, salad), poke(I got spicy tuna and salmon), and sides(I got spicy cucumbers, and crunchy noodles). There’s free 1 hour parking down the street, and meter parking along the street. It is a tiny place with a couple of tables. I came right when they opened, so I don’t know what it is like during lunch and dinner rush hour. It was a little bit pricey though, about $ 11 for a small bowl!

So I was told this is one the great poke places as it was rated #4 for all time poke. And luckily it was near our gym. Several of us drove over after a kick ass workout. I found out that this used to be Black Hogg and is now Ohana Poke. Sad to hear :(Parking is street. The inside is cozy and a bit spacious. Very casual and great for lunch. They have different variations of poke style to choose from as well as sizes. I got the regular, which I thought would be small but wow it’s more than enough! My friend got the large and it is pretty big. You can also mix and match some of the items and you get one side as well. 1. First step you choose a size: Regular($ 9.5) /Large($ 13.95) 2. Choose a base: White rice, Brown rice, or Olive oil kale 3. Choose your poke(they have gluten free as well) I got a mix of the popular Shoyu tuna and salmon, 4. Choose your side. I got a mix of Wakame seaweed salad and Ponzu glass noodles. They have one more option of the kimchi cucumbers, which I would get next time. * You can add Masago(fish roe) .50 cent and/or avocado($ 1) which comes out mashed. *All bowls come topped with edamame, wasabi peas, scallions and furikake. The shoyu tuna was very fresh and all comes cubed. Not to salty like others I’ve had where the soy sauce or sesame oil is too heavy handed. The brown rice was room temperature. All the little pairings were great and added texture as well as sweet and savory. I added avocado which was great. You can never say no to avocado. I was pretty full halfway so a regular is a decent size. Everything was great but I was not a huge fan of the salmon. It did not tasted as fresh and had a fishy aftertaste. I would stick to the tuna and would try the pineapple tuna next time. _Spam Musubi($ 3) They have a spicy version as well. My friend got this and it was great! Good amount of rice, spam was sweet as well as the sauce that tasted a bit like teriyaki. I would eat this again and again :)

Chef Eric Park replaced his full service restaurant Black Hogg(to spend more time with his family) with the more casual Ohana Poké Co. There are two locations, one in Downtown LA and the other is this one in Silver Lake. You order/pay at the counter and your food is brought to your table. You start by choosing a size(regular or large), then a base(white or brown rice or kale), then the poke(several to choose from) and lastly, any sides(which are actually placed in the bowl, not on the side). I went with the large poke bowl with brown rice, OHANASHOYUTUNA and the ponzu glass noodles. I added masago and avocado for extra. Also, all bowls come with edamame, wasabi peas, scallions and furikake. The large proved to be too much food for me. I took the rest home and ate it a while later. I enjoyed the fish. The noodles were on the crunchier, snappier side. I ended up liking this component the least. I also ordered a SPAMMUSUBI to snack on later. Note that a 12% service fee is applied to all orders. According to the website, if you’re not satisfied with your service in any way, they will gladly waive this fee.

Okay. Ready for another poke review? FRESHNESS: Ohana’s fish and ingredients were indeed fresh! Good sized cubes of salmon and tuna. Their scallions are a bit strange because they aren’t chopped, they are given in like strips that felt like you were eating grass. Masago was plentiful & scooped like ice cream. There’s kimchi cucumbers and seaweed salad which compliments the poke well. SIZE/PRICE: Their regular size is pretty huge for $ 9.50 which is awesome. However, there’s a big jump to their large which is $ 13.95 but in all honesty, large should be SHARED because it’s a monstrous size. SERVICE: I noticed that many customers had a reason to come back because something was missed or something unwanted happen to make it to their bowl. ALSO, the server was still taking some orders forgetting that he was already told what they were out of. Top hits: — Cute décor to enjoy, #becausePoke — Evenings can have a bit of a rush of late evening eaters(around 8:00PM) — If you decide on getting a spam musubi, tell them to hold the watercress lettuce! Weird taste.

Oh boy. I think I found my new go to. Food: Wow, and that seaweed? It’s seasoned with the tears of a unicorn. The fish was ok but overall great. I wish they had salmon. I got brown rice, kale, spicy tuna, seaweed salad. Price: large bowl was 13.95 plus a pre-added 12% gratuity which is weird. Ambiance: nice bar, a little small. Not sure why there’s a wall in the middle of the restaurant Tip: there’s a 2nd register on the other side of the wall. You’re welcome

Forget acai bowls and forget pork belly bowls… Poke bowls are in! Just kidding. I love all three. But let’s focus on poke for now. Ohana is a fresh look at the poke bowl, with a good selection of poke and options to mix and match which is always great for foodies like me who want to try everything on a menu. I my bowl contained the original poke, octopus poke, seaweed salad, kimchi cucumbers, and olive oil kale. Original poke was good. Standard good poke. I was actually really impressed by the octopus poke — it was really well seasoned and the texture was awesome. Kale kept me feeling healthy and seaweed salad and cucumbers were standard goodness. The place is clean and staff is friendly. I paid about 11 dollars for my bowl which I got in the regular size. They do charge a 12 perfect service fee on all orders, but I think that’s fair. It’s enough to get you full and the workers do work hard! If I’m ever in the mood for poke again I’d come back.

If you’re not aware by now, pork belly is OUT and spicy tuna bowls are IN. That would explain the almost overnight switcheroo from Black Hogg to Ohana Seafood Co. Luckily the restaurant design lends itself well to any kind of cuisine served. Cool, geometric tile and comfy oversized upholstered seats are welcoming, and works for the Ohana side AND the still-operating Sopresatta(there is a half-wall separating the two spaces). It being the soft opening, service was a bit bumpy but everyone was sweet and the poke bowls came out lightning fast. I chose the small spicy tuna with white heirloom sushi rice, kimchi cucumbers and seaweed salad. My husband opted for the Shoyu tuna with glass noodles. The crazy thing was that the RICE was what stood out to me the most. I’ve come to learn that sushi rice is of utmost importance — way more than the fish. I did enjoy the fish, although I wish they were less heavy-handed with the spicy mayo. The kimchi cucumbers and seaweed salad were excellent toppers. I would definitely return to try the shrimp plate and the octopus.
