Their orange chicken is THE best! Seriously, its so good I haven’t tried anything else on the menu(except the chow mien) I have lived downtown for 7 years and eaten orange chicken at every«panda express» style joint there is… China Gourmet’s is the best IMO The orange chicken has this honey orange flavor that is amazing and its always crunchy. Anyways, go check it out… if you dont like it I ll come by and eat it for you

Pork spare ribs are more like spare tires — chewy and tough. I could say the same about the beef and broccoli. At least the fried rice is decent as well as the vegetables. Good place for vegetarians I guess. Pretty bad lunch that I threw most of it away. The positive is I’m on a diet anyway. I don’t recommend.

After an exhausting day 4 of the Animé Convention 2013 Expo, my friends and I head over to the Grand Central Market to satisfy our hunger and curiosity of LA. A generic red and golden neon sign caught my attention as I wander around looking for a cheap meal. The employees were handing out free samples of the food, and just as any broke college student who’s exhausted his wallet buying fan-arts, posters and figures from the con would do, I went over and devoured four different samples. Having been satisfied with the taste and pricing, I decided I would go with China Gourmet to satisfy my craving for Chinese food. I ordered number 4, Fried Rice and Chow Mein with orange chicken and broccoli beef, all for a measly sum for $ 4.75. Portion-wise, you’re really getting your money’s worth, tons of chicken and beef on top of the steaming rice and chow mein. You could barely close the container! Flavor-wise I must say it’s pretty good. The fried rice and chow mein were flavorful(not too plain or salty), beef was nicely seasoned and chewy, and the orange chicken has a nice zingy after-taste. If you’re looking for a cheap place to fulfill to Chinese food craving on a budget, then you should definitely give this place a try.
