I have not been to the Hyperion location for years, but I see it may have closed. I also saw some reviews complaining of dripping grease and the like. This is not a sushi bar, or the salad bar, but it is a classic LA burrito. Expect and hope for grease, flavor, and satisfaction. In the 80s, the only two family(founder) owned Burrito Kings were on Hyperion and at the corner of Sunset and Alvarado. The Sunset location definitely is still there. At some point, they tried to license their name out(quasi franchise) to some other operators, but that was a disaster. So, for a return to the Mecca of LA burritos(with due respect to the master of the massive, El Tepeyc), head to the corner of Sunset and Alvarado. A crazy location, but the Everest of the classic burrito.

hands down this place has the most disgusting vegetarian burritto i have ever had! didnt realize until i had gotten home that my vegetarian burritto was simply runny beans surrounded by long slimy spears of onions carrotts and bell peppers. once i saw what a mess this was i called burritto king and spoke with 4 people who all told me a differant story of what should be in a veggie burritto and each person seemed more confsed then the next. i finally hung up in frustration and will never go here again.

so I live really close to this place and heard from a few friends that it was pretty good. tried a carne asada supreme burrito. it was OK, super greasy though. next morning I’m not feeling so good, next day I feel even worse. decided to see a doctor and found out I got a parasite from contaminated meat. I will never go here again and recommend you do the same unless you feel like being bed ridden for a week.

This place is no longer there. Such a bummer. This page needs to get updated cause its being rebuilt as a «Mixto» a healthy«Mex» type restaurant. At least it says it will be open late too. I miss Burrito King already.

This place is alright. Picked up a bean and cheese burrito to go yesterday. It was a fat burrito. I didn’t notice that the cheese grease was dripping through the wrapper and on to my jeans. That sucked. Overall the burrito was filling. I got my drink a block away at the 7 – 11. It wasn’t awesome just ok.

I love this place and I wish I would have wrote sooner. Great burritos, also great breakfast! Its a true LA gem. Stop by even late for a super filling meal at a great price. The service is amazing. Its family owned and operated, and been around since the 60s. I found out some of their employees that aren’t family have been there for 30 years or more. Also plenty of parking in their parking lot. Love it.

One of the better burrito joints in L. A that I’ve found, their carne asada is actually carne asada(most mexican places in L.A. either serve ground beef, something stewey, or fried grissle), and when you ask for beans you get refried beans, not whole black beans or whole pinto beans. Not a ton to choose from, but enough to keep me coming back. On the down side: Not much of a selection for salsa… youve got roja, verde, and pico. Thats it. It seems that every time I leave a tip they get my order wrong. Not open late enough to be the go to place after hitting the bars. Prices keep climbing and no upgrades seen. Cant substitute one thing for another. If you want a breakfast burrito with carne asada instead of chorrizo you have to pay extra, even though technically it doesnt cost them any more, nor does it take them any more time to do it. So essentially despite all the downsides to this place, I keep coming back because when they get it right it is good, compared to what else is available and in the same price range. Now, if you want some real mexican food without going to mexico, try San Diego, their worst place is L.A.s best place.

Food is really bad here. Don’t even bother. It’s expense for the crap you get. Carne asada is really grissly — hard to chew. The cheese they use on the nachos taste like cheese whiz. You’ll be sorry…

Had a Carne Asada burrito here for my first try and it was decent. Nothing special compared to other places but what I did notice was they put refried beans in the burrito… That’s new to me. As for the taste… mehhh I had better elsewhere. The place was empty and the patio seating was decently clean. The salsa bar was nothing special but they did have tons of choices. Would I come back here? Probably not.

This taco stand is right across the street from MJ’s so if you just came out from MJ’s, it is very convenient. I purchased a chicken taco. The lady asked me if I wanted some pico de gallo. They looked it up with pico de gallo and it was quite delicious. I was looking for a hot dog guy in front of MJ’s but that person was not there, so this taco shop is the next best thing. Now, I wish I just ordered more because now I am really hungry after eating that lonely chicken taco. Burrito King is great if you just came from the club and are looking for food to absorb that alcohol!

First Unilocal review yay! Today I decided to go out for lunch with a friend. I started craving Mexican food and was actually thinking about Yuca’s but didn’t remember where it was exactly(Note to self: I should really get a GPS). So I stumbled upon that small restaurant adjacent to Pinkberry. I thought, «Well, it’s in a good area in Silverlake and has been there for a good while. It should be good». I ordered a chicken torta and a small horchata. My friend ordered the nachos supreme and a pink lemonade. I paid like $ 5.50 for my torta and 2 something for the horchata. I thought that it was a little over-priced. The place was clean, with a semi-patio area which I thought was cool for people watching. I finally get my food. The service was pretty fast and I was impressed. A couple of seconds later I realized how they managed to serve us fast. My torta had a lot of unchopped lettuce, which seemed to be just thrown to the torta, as well as everything else inside it. It was a massive whirlwind of beans, guacamole, chicken, and pico de gallo. My friend said that he liked his nachos and that the pink lemonade was good. I wasn’t so happy with my food. I ordered a small horchata and it was actually small! Go figure haha. It did contain more ice than horchata. Not the best I’ve had. In sum, burrito king is definitely not a place for a first date, unless you believe that food all over your mouth and hands is attractive. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to that place again. Perhaps it was my fault for not ordering their specialty. If you want a good, carefully prepared, and delicious chicken torta, you should stop by grand central market in downtown. I really wanted to write a positive first Unilocal review, but Burrito King didn’t cooperate.

This place definitely gets mixed reviews, and I think that’s fair. The food is inexpensive and quick, but the quality varies. I’d say it’s good when you need cheap, decent Mexican food, but I wouldn’t make a special trip. I’ve eaten their bean and cheese wet burrito and it’s passable. It doesn’t have much flavor on its own(burrito filling and sauce), so I take full advantage of the(pretty good) salsa bar, in particular the onion/cilantro mixture. I get the bean and cheese burrito, FYI. It’s huge and filling, but I’ve eaten tastier. I can’t speak to the other menu items, so you’ll have to go by other reviews. The parking is good, though it is on the corner of a pretty busy intersection, so you have to watch yourself pulling out.

I don’t understand what people expect from this place? Sure it’s not the classiest place in town but the dirt adds flavor. Just kidding, but I’ve been here many times before and the food has always been good. The hard shell tacos with shredded beef are great. No in fact, I will say that they are awesome; yes, semicolon awesome. I haven’t found another place in the Silver Lake area that will rival these tacos for the price. It’s good food a decent price. They have a pretty varied menu. I’ve tried(and liked mostly) so far: shredded beef hardshell tacos, carne asada tacos, chicken enchiladas, fish tacos and if I remember correctly the shredded pork burrito. The burrito was a little flat tasting. Enchiladas are great and the fish tacos are actually very tasty(I’m picky with the fish tacos). There’s still a huge part of the menu I haven’t tried. El Tepeyac beats this place in the delicious tasting department, but that’s at a higher price, not exactly a quick stop, and it’s further away from me. That restaurant is in a different class altogether. This isn’t some fancy sit down place. It’s great for a quick bite to eat when you don’t want the usual fast food. By quick I mean sometimes. They can be a little slow for a fast food place. No credit cards! Bring cash. If you’re willing to pay the ATM fee, there’s one on the patio.

The vegetarian burrito is the nastiest pile of goop I’ve ever tasted. This is probably the worst vegetarian burrito in Los Angeles. It comes with an overload of grilled-bell peppers. I typically like bell-peppers, but not when they’re served in a soggy goop-filled slop, wrapped in a tortilla, and called a burrito. I also ordered one fish taco to go along with my burrito. The server said«just one?» and then she laughed. Apparently it’s funny to order one fish taco along with the burrito. She thought it was so funny that she actually turned to the chef and laughed about my order of one fish taco. She said something in Spanish, which I can somewhat understand but cannot speak. She was definitely laughing about my order of just one fish taco. So this place also gets negative points for trying to make me feel less manly. Are men supposed to order two or more fish tacos? If only I spoke fluent Spanish! I would have let her have it. Back to the Vegetarian burrito. I ordered avocado to be added into the vegetarian burrito, and it wasn’t!!! Yet I was still charged 74 cents for the addition of the avocado. So I was ripped off!!! The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the fish taco was good… So if you want a good fish taco, then come here. I’ve certainly had better fish tacos though, like at the 7 mares. But this one was solid. In the past I’ve also tried their enchiladas. They are disgusting. Main points reiterated: 1. Good fish taco. 2. Horrible vegetarian burrito(soppy soggy mess) 3. Scumbag, charged me for avocado yet added none 4. Rude, attempted to make me feel like less of a man… The jokes on her though because I feel like less of a man already based on other life-factors. 5. Disgusting enchiladas. This place is lame.

The second best breakfast burrito. The chicken burrito and chicken torta are pretty good as well.

So i lived around this place for couple months now but every time i pass by it i was skeptical to try it till today. The parking lot is hiding behind it. the place is pretty clean, the menu is simple and clear. if your looking for a Clean Mexican food i highly recommend this place. Btw: they bring ur food out super fast. and they also have an outside siting area with add-ons.

This is a Mexican restaurant that is most similar to a tacos stand. Their specialty is burritos and each burrito is freshly made with the fillings mixed and cooked while you wait. They are somewhat slow and expensive $ 5 to $ 8 for a burrito. I attempted to order a vegetarian burrito but they threw in a lot of carne asada; they might do better if you order in Spanish but it also seemed to me that they simply assume you would want meat in every dish. French Fry Review: They have frozen skinless shoestring fries. They are fried crispier than usual and because they are fried in the same oil as the tortilla chips, they actually have an interesting and good extra flavor.

Ugh… my stomach turned upside down just about an hour ago — so as I write this review in torment, I hope to help others avoid the same fate. My husband and I drove down the street to this taco stand. I ordered a Dinner combo — Taco, Enchilada, beans, rice. um, well they forgot the sour cream and guacomole, as the menu specified. Somehow an extra taco was added to my order — something was lost in translation with cashier. My husband ordered tortas with fries. We drove straight-away home, sat down and opened the styrofoam containers. The food was so disappointing. Enchilada was flat and had turned to rubber(like it was sitting around all day). And where was the enchilada sauce??? I did not attempt to eat my enchilada after the first bite. My hard shell taco fell apart like a wet paper towel. The rice tasted like leftovers from 3 days ago. Only the refried beans and taquitos were descent. If you do decide to eat hear, do not take your food ‘to-go’. Perhaps it would be edible if eaten right away. Will I give Burrito King a second chance? No, because I think I’m going to hurl again…

went here last night, and was suprised to see california burritos on the menu. i had a quesadilla and it was pretty good, though on the excessively greasy side. I nibbled on some of the carne asada meat from my boyfriend’s taco and it was insanely well flavored. Its an outdoor stand with a few barstools at a counter. The staff was friendly. I definately want to go back and try a california burrito. I don’t see them in LA too often. I want to try the taquitos too. — i went back and had a chorizo breakfast burrito, with hash browns inside, and it was sooooooo goooood

I shouldn’t even be here. I should be at Satellite Studios rehearsing for tomorrow nights Eagle Rock street festival. But nooo! When I got there the only guy who showed up was the singer. Since it was to be our one and only rehearsal before the show, we had to cancel. So here I sit amongst the red melamine booths, and the safron walls punctuated by green doors — the color scheme reminiscent of an amazon parrot — shoveling bland refried pintos into my mouth and enjoying the mild spicyness of a Chile Relleno. The egg isn’t very fluffy but the freshness of the Poblano or whatever genus of pepper it is, is making up for it. The rice is a bit dry, chocked with wrinkled peas, but it’s ok, the Silverlake night is jumping, and I’m settling into the new hood. Not Silverlake actually, but Los Feliz which is close to many things great. The vibe is nice here. One wall is open to the street. There’s something about eating in a landmark, even if it’s just an honorary one. The lady behind the spade shaped window in the front smiled a lot at me, I think because I went to great lengths to pronounce«relleno» correctly — using the YE sound as in YES. They do have a parking lot, so don’t think you’re all«street smart» and park down at Gelsons, and duck the railing while looking out for the market guards. It’s exciting, but there’s no need for such chicanery. One puzzlement I noticed while walking up the block: I would like to know what that house at the top of their parking lot is. I thought it was another restaurant. Turns out it’s not, but BURRITOKING is lit up in yellow lettering on it’s roof. Also, don’t go expecting to order a taco al pastor. They don’t seem to have one. But they have Tamarindo and Horchata on tap. I wasn’t going for meat anyway. They set up this petting zoo near my work and I was looking at the cute baby pigs and ducks today…(sigh) My advice to anyone. Move to Los Feliz, the neighborhood is awesome.
