I cant comment on the food because I didnt get to order any. I will dock Budda Bing down for some stars due to the misleading info on the menu. As a vegan I cant order their bing options because the base bing«OG» is made with egg and then anything else is OG bing plus other toppings for variation. While waiting for my co-worker to check out the truck, I was eyeing Greenthumb on the menu board because it had«Vegetarian» in Chinese text next to the listed ingredients. Seeing that Greenthumb is made with kimchi, I wanted to verify that it’s truly vegetarian friendly so I asked the employee. He informed me that the Kimchee is made with fish sauce which really makes it NOT vegetarian. No real vegetarian would be ok with fish sauce in their food. The owner is Chinese so there’s no excuse for the misleading info. Fix it BB!

We came to the 626 Market because we wanted to have some unique dishes. Bad move on out part was trying to come here on Labor Day weekend. The place was packed with hardly any room to move around. We decided to give Buddha Bing a try since the line was«short.» And, by short, I mean about 10-deep. Anyway, I placed my order and the guy was friendly answering my questions. The order was going to be shared with my kids, so I asked for dishes without kim chi or anything spicy. The purple rice bowl was out of the question since he said the kim chi is in the rice already. So, I went with the Jian Bing, which is like a filled crêpe. I got it with Bulgogi which they call the Seoulection. The taste was ok, but it was salty and… spicy! No bueno for the kids. I’m assuming it was from their Danky sauce. Being that I told the guy that it was for my kids and didn’t want anything spicy, it would’ve been nice to have known that. In addition, I had to wait a little(a lot, actually) for my food because they made it with kim chi the first time. They actually gave me 1 of them(I ordered 2) and I held on to it. Then, 10 minutes later, they told me it was made with kim chi. They offered me free pot stickers, but there was no way I was going to wait even longer. Especially with hungry kids. Because I declined it, it would’ve been nice to have been offered a refund, but I wasn’t. Also, instead of offering me the one I was holding for free, they took it back. Probably going out to another customer. Normally, this would be a 1-star review, but being that the bulgogi wasn’t terrible and that I ordered it without the kim chi, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that the original dish would be better. Also, the fact that they made a semi-attempt to correct their issue, is at least something.

So. Disappointed. After hearing so many good things about this truck at the 626 night market and not getting a chance to try it, I was excited to see it on the street in LA. I ordered the dankest with bacon, avocado, cheese, and egg for $ 9. Service was nice and efficient, and I received my food within minutes. The outside texture had more of a crêpe like feel, and it was actually made on a crêpe pan and wrapped up into a bing. I excitedly dug in, but had a little difficulty cutting it through the layers because of the avocado. The avocado was not ripe enough, and it was extremely hard and inedible. I could not even pick it up with my fork, and I could barely cut it with my knife. I tried the avocado, and it was chewy like apple but without the juiciness. I’ve never had an unripe avocado, but I guess there’s always a first! The bacon was okay, a little too thick for my preference, and the flavor of the overall bing was decent. Too much bing to topping ratio in my opinion. The ingredients of the bing really did sound dank, but it was anything but that. Super sad that this more contemporary version of the bing was not as good as I hoped it to be. I felt like the people there were just trying to get rid of their ingredients as they were closing up shop soon and didn’t care to check for the quality of their ingredients. They were also selling 4 potstickers for $ 1 to get rid of the rest of them; maybe I should have stuck with that instead. Maybe I came on an off day… I didn’t even eat half before I threw it away :(

Buddha Bing, Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, it’s all the same, it brings you to Nirvana! Of all the great items at the 626 Night Market this summer, the Buddha Bing truck was the one that tugged the hardest at me saying, «You gotta try this!» Man, were my instincts right. Ji Dan Bing(egg pancake wraps) have been around the streets of China forever. For about $.30, I could buy a large green onion and egg crêpe like pancake, slathered with various homemade sauces and add in some red peppers and chili oil… Mmmmm. It sounds so basic(it is) but it’s so satisfying. Buddha Bing creates something similar with the Jian Bing, but uses a thinner wrap and stuffs it full of meats and veggies. Debating between the CoCo Chicken(peanut satay with pickled veggies and basil) and the Red #BASED Bing, the owner suggested that I try the Red #BASED Bing first. Red #BASED Bing(Hong Shao Rao — Slow Braised Pork Belly, $ 8) — Big, glorious, shimmery rectangular chunks of slowed cooked fatty meat that just melt when it hits your mouth. If you’ve had Hong Shao Rao, you know how that in itself is a go to dish. Stick that in a warm Chinese pancake wrapped like square burrito and you have food that the emperors would have died to chow down on while relaxing at the Summer Palace. The meat and hoisin based sweet sauce just overtake your mouth, in the best way possible. The easiest way to eat this is to hold it in your hand and just bite in, but if you’re splitting it, best to use a knife and fork and eat it in the tray. I was surprised at the good amount of meat that it had inside. Cooking the pork is time consuming and takes anywhere from 1 – 3 hours to slow cook. One of the best food truck items I’ve had in the past few years. I do want to go back and try the other items, like the CoCo Chicken, the Seoulection(bulgolgi and kimchi) and the Sesame Budder Cold Noodles(cold noodles with sesame sauce). You can get the CoCo Chicken, Red #BASED Pork and the Seoulection in either the bing wrap format or served with purple rice. If you want to stay un-ethnic or Vegetarian, you can get the avocado and kimchi bing or the bacon, avocado and cheese bing. Based primarily in Downtown LA, if you see this truck in your area, consider yourself privileged to have the opportunity to try it out. In the meantime, I will meditate and pray that Buddha Bing road trips down to Orange County…

Passed by this place on the way back to my apartment and decided to check it out. Was intrigued by their«bing» selection which you really don’t see anywhere else. Didn’t end up ordering a bing, but got the red pork bowl. Purple rice is honestly so good, I don’t know why more restaurants don’t serve it. Egg on top was over-easy and delicious. The pork itself was the star though, reminded me of hong chao rou(don’t know if I got that right) that I had in Shanghai this past summer. Flavorful, delicious, and definitely Chinese(oily and fatty just the way I love it). If you’re looking for more lean meat, maybe steer away from this one. The guy was also very nice and helpful. Portion size will satisfy you, but not leave you overly full. Probably not a «have to try it» spot, but overall a very good experience. I was told they’d be here Monday-Friday unless they have a private event. Looking forward to another visit.

I can’t get enough of Buddha bing! I was lucky enough to run into them for the 4th time at 626 night market. The red based pork is DELISH and my absolute fave! The combination of pork belly, cilantro and fried egg is perfect and the guys there are always so nice and friendly. Looking forward to my 5th visit soon.

I was looking for something different during my visit to the LA area museums. Came across this food truck and tried the Seoulection Bing. It is like a crêpe and filled with beef and kimchi. Very good.

@eatbuddhabing As long as I have been reviewing food trucks, I’ve always wondered why there aren’t more trucks doing Chinese food. I can only surmise that making Chinese flavors portable has been a challenge. Well it seems that Buddha Bing has found a great way to do that. They wrap their Chinese treats in one of those Chinese«pancakes» that typically come with Peking Duck. These make great wraps it turns out, I got one with pork belly and as with just about anything containing pork belly, many mouthgasms occurred. They also offer their delectable meats over purple rice in bowl form. I will definitely eat from this truck again and try some of their other dishes. So here it is. ____STALKER_APPROVED____

Stopped by this truck at the special Olympics at USC, I got the pork belly pancake with a side of pork potstickers for $ 3. The pancake itself was awesome, juicy tender pork with a very delectable sauce wrapped in an egg pancake with scallions and sesame seeds. Don’t bother with the potstickers though they taste like store bought frozen potstickers, not juicy and a bit bland.

Before heading out to the Chinatown Summer Nights event, I checked out the menu on their website, which seemed to offer everything I love rice/noodles/Chinese pancakes. My boyfriend and I gave this food truck a try. We ordered a red based pork bing($ 10) and veggie pot stickers(4 for $ 4 or $ 3 as a combo). It took awhile for our food to come out, which didn’t bother me. The veggie pot stickers had some noodles, mushrooms and cabbage, and they tasted pretty good with the accompanying dipping sauce. I liked the Chinese pancake part, but the red based pork was a bit too sweet for me. I would have ordered a vegetarian one or perhaps Seoulection. I would still like to try their rice bowl and cold noodles, but for what we got tonight, I’d give them 3 stars.

I just ate at this truck for the second time. Something you want from a restaurant or food truck is to be able to count on consistency, right? After my first experience about a month ago, I saw this truck again today. Raved about it to my friends– the 3 bowl purple rice dish I had tasted was heaven– with shredded chicken all mixed with and a flavorful sauce in the rice– topped with a swirly of sriracha mayo, avocado and fresh basil leaves. Total comfort food. I wanted that again. Wrong :( Today I ordered the same dish and received a whole different surprise. Cubed-up chicken piled on the side of purple rice, with some fat, knuckle and tendon thrown in for good measure. The only flavor to the rice was from the grease that had run off the chicken. No sublime slightly salty sauce this time. Yes, the avocado and basil leaves didn’t disappoint, but I am so let down and apologetic to the friends who took my word to try this place today.

I have never had a Jian Bing in my life, but I was thoroughly impressed with my Food Truck experience. I ordered two different Jian Bing: the OG Bing and the Red Based Pork. The OG Bing is perfect for vegetarians, as it doesn’t contain any meat. For both items, I thought they contain the perfect amount of sweetness(from their vinegar sauce) and saltiness in every bite. Portion was relatively decent, given the price I paid and the prices of the other food truck. I definitely recommend this truck due to the uniqueness of the food items. I would come back to try out the other Jian Bings.

Haven’t seen a jian bing place around here anywhere! Very authentic with the crisp in the middle and the sauce is perfect it doesn’t make it soggy. The specialty brings are really good especially The Dankest! It’s really dank.

This was at the OC night market this past weekend. It’s a bright orange truck that you can’t miss. They had this dish called the«BING» which is their version of a Chinese burrito. We ordered the pork one and that was probably the best thing I ate at OC night market! Nice and hot. Made to order. The texture through was soft, crispy, and tasty! All great things into one. This is a must try if you ever see the truck! Recommendaion: Pork«BING»

Was excited to try this food truck. Has everything I love. However, very disappointed with my meal. I got the seoulection rice bowl. Which is purple rice, bulgogi and kimchi with an over easy egg on top. Rice wasn’t cooked right, was a bit hard and tasted under cooked. The meat was not flavorful and just didn’t have that bulgogi taste. The over easy egg was fried over hard so was disappointed to not be able to mix the yolk up in my meal. The kimchi was pretty good. Overall, meal was not tasty and was a very small portion. I definitely will pass on this truck next time it comes around. So unfortunate, looked so promising!

The first truck I’ve genuinely been excited about trying in a while. Buddha Bing takes the traditional Chinese«jian bing» to the masses, offering a variety of wrap-inspired menu items including Swing Song(pork sung, nori, sesame) and Three Cup Chicken(三杯雞). I had The Dankest, a breakfast burrito-style jian bing stuffed with bacon, avocado, and cheese(I came a little too early to try anything on their«lunch menu»). It was glorious. First, the outside — great balance of batter, egg, scallions, and black sesame, and just the right thickness, just like mom makes it at home. Buddha Bing’s «special sauce» is great too. It’s reminiscent of a subdued hoisin sauce, a little sweet and a little salty, without being overpowering as hoisin sauce can be. Then there was the filling — in addition to the bacon, avocado, and cheese, there was cilantro, lettuce, and also some crispy fried dough packed inside(youtiao?). As with the dough, these elements were balanced perfectly. I was worried that the avocado and cheese might be out of place, but I was pleasantly surprised to taste how well they complemented the dish’s other ingredients. These guys make each jian bing to order, so service may get a little slow when it’s busy. Still, Buddha Bing is doing something very unique(and delicious!) in the world of food trucks right now. You won’t regret paying them a visit — I’m already dreaming of my next jian bing. ;)

Delicious stuff! Buddha Bing has been at USC for the past couple of weeks, and since I am a die-hard supporter of food trucks(especially those that support our students, woohoo!), I needed to try this place. There are a couple of «bings,» a chinese-style burrito sort of dish, that you can choose from. There’s the green thumb(avocado, kale, cucumber, etc.) for vegetarians and red-based pork(Cola-braised pork belly) for the non-vegetarians. If you haven’t had a bing before, you should go for the OG Bing which has romaine lettuce, egg, their«special sauce,» topped with scallions and black sesame. I will admit, because the bings are made-to-order it takes a little bit longer than, say, a taco truck. I had to wait a little bit extra for mine since the chef accidentally gave my order to someone else, but they gave me a drink for the mistake. Yes, the bings are really, really good. I was a little annoyed that they had given my order away, but all was resolved once I took my first bite. I’ll definitely be back and I hope that my order isn’t stolen next time ;)

Whoa this place blew my mind when I had their Chinese tacos! I have a wheat allergy so I had to get something without wheat and the tacos were perfect. The lady at the counter was really helpful and I will definitely be coming back!
