Still can’t beat the prices here. Tried the bun rieu this last time and it was better than the bun bo hue. On another note, the hours say 730 but I’m often there closer to 7am and she’s ready to go so that’s nice. The banh mi has been okay… This is knit picky but I feel like the thit nuong has too much lemongrass in it. I like lemon grass the the whole sandwich shouldn’t taste like it. Also the meat to veggies to bread ratio is quite off. Meh. That’s just me.

Found this banh mi place on Unilocal,it was within walking distance for me and is what replaced the rainbow bakery that was here before. They have pictures at the top, but I think they are still settling in as they didn’t have any numbers or pricing. But the lady who helped me was sweet, asked and informed me on what type of sandwich I would like. They also have plenty of premade togo dishes shrink wrapped for you like springrolls or banh cuon. Prices here is pretty cheap, $ 3 for a banh mi sandwich which I thought was pretty good and $ 2.50 for togo spring rolls. They also have Vietnamese sweet beverages called che on the side if you’d like. Service here is also really quick!

I absolutely love this little shop! It’s a little mom and pop shop located next to Ai Hoa and from the outside it doesn’t look like much, but their food is amazing and cheap. I personally love their $ 5 beef vermecelli box and get it to go whenever I’m feeling like I want a good nongreasy meal. Their banh mi is good as well, but my heart belongs to that box of delicious treasures. They also sell a variety of che, but they go a little heavy on the syrup so if you’re not a fan of really sweet che I recommend you ask for less corn syrup.

What: This used to be Rainbow Bakery, but is now a family owned Vietnamese deli. I came here with my sisters for lunch. Atmosphere: Open/empty. Hardly anyone was there when we arrived, around 5pm. There’s an ample amount of seating that provides a view of the open kitchen. The display of prepared lunches, refrigerated drinks, and menu items pictured are typical to a Vietnamese/Asian deli. Price: Cheap! Nothing is more than $ 5(on the printed menu) and for the quality of the food, it’s practically a steal. For everything that we ordered, it was $ 8(including tax?) Service: Quick! Our meal came out in the order of what was ready first. We didn’t have to wait too long for anything, maybe 5 minutes at most in between items. Each item is served on a cafeteria tray and brought to you. The servers aren’t the most attentative, but they’re within ear shot if you need anything. Food: Bánh Mì Thit Nuông(charbroiled pork sandwich) — The toasted French roll was nice, hot, and crusty. The pork was tender, flavorful, and juicy. I liked that there weren’t any fatty pieces either. It’s served with pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and cucumber. What really set it apart from other Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve had, is that the homemade mayonnaise was on both sides of the bread. And the bread was toasted with the mayonnaise on, which made this sandwich all the more tasty. Com Bì Suôn Chá(pork chop broken rice plate) — Possibly the Best rice plate I’ve ever had! It comes with a pile of steaming hot rice, shredded pork, a slice of egg cake(think: eggroll filing without the wrapper), cucumber slices, and a small bowl of fish sauce with daikon and carrot. The porkchop was so tender, that the knife they give you to cut it is practically useless! The lemongrass marinade really came through and balanced out the charred flavor from the grill. This pork chop was just so flavorful, that I can’t describe it beyond what I’ve already mentioned. Unfortunately the egg cake fell short. It was just bland. Maybe so it wouldn’t compete with the flavors of the pork chop? Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this dish. Overall the food here compares the quality of Vietnamese deli sandwiches to what you can find in San Gabriel Valley, but with a much cheaper price.

The food is very good and very cheap. I tried the traditional Vietnamese sandwich and it is by far the best one I have ever tried. Significantly cheaper than other Vietnamese delis. Highly recommend it!
