I cannot speak for the authenticity of this place, but I must say it is super tasty! I have tried most of the sandwiches, including the lemongrass tofu, and they have all been consistently good. The proteins are well-prepared and well-accompanied by the fresh, slightly pickled, and crunchy veggies. They are close to $ 10, and while I agree this is on the pricier side for a banh mi, I must add that the sandwiches are really long enough to be two. I always end up either saving half for dinner or for a hungry co-worker. The rolls are equally delicious but far too overpriced. Definitely a now-and-then sort of order. I would skip the ramen. It takes about fifteen minutes to prepare and ends up underwhelming. The last time I ordered one with vegetables and tofu it only featured two lonely pieces of broccoli. This particular block(right by LACMA) does not offer many delicious options for lunch. Nearly every place — brick and mortar and lunch truck alike — is overpriced. It’s nice to see a truck that offers food that is pleasing to both the eye and tummy. If I don’t brown bag lunch, I stop here. I believe the block now curates the food trucks allowed to park in front of 5900, and Banh in the USA can no longer do so. In the past few weeks, I have seen it in front of the parking lot on Wilshire and Spaulding.

Really delicious meat for the banh mi, and only costs $ 6.5. Makes me really happy about my lunch choice.

The spicy chicken banh mi is just about perfect. Larger than a regular banh mi, too; excellent value for the price, besides being completely delicious.

Vietnamese sandwiches? Yaaaaas! Vietnamese overpriced sandwiches? Noooooo! This is pretty much how it is. It’s good yes. Very flavorful, but way overpriced. I mean, you can go to a phở place and get the same sandwich for 5 or 6 bucks but yet they charge me almost 10 dollars? This I don’t think is their fault but the fact that we are getting used to pay top price for truck food. I’m not sure why we’re cool with that but I thought I should bring it up. The noodles were not that good. I wasn’t a fan. Felt dry and not much flavor. The sandwich was great. Felt that they used good quality items and it felt fresh. For being a food truck and at peak hours, they make those sandwiches quick! So waiting time has not been an issue for me.

OMGOMG, you guys are delicious! I loved the spicy chicken banh mi! The bread was soft and gooey and crunchy on the outside, the chicken was juicy and tasty and the veggies were amazingly well balanced. I love your truck! And you guys are super cool and sweet. Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

I miss you guys. I used to eat here a couple times a week for a few years. The grilled banh mi, pork spring rolls, and noodle salads are the best.(I know the best because I’ve tried everything on the menu more than once) If I may say one thing, keep everything a dollar cheaper. I saw this truck increase prices on two occasions. Keep it the cool, authentic LA food-truck, not the hey-I’m-so-cool,-but-I-may-take-advantage-of-the-location-and-charge-like-I’m-a-real-restaurant.

THEBESTBAHNMIYOUWILLFINDINALLOFTHELALAND! ! Growing up on Bahn mi’s in San Francisco. I was sad to leave them behind after moving to LA. That sadness Frank Sinatra and I shared melted away after I discovered Bahn in the USA! Now I have a baguette of heaven in my backyard. Shrimp spring rolls– peanut/lemongrass sauce Lemongrass Tofu/Pâté bahn mi. Side of Sambal & Siracha. Happy girl. Catch them only from 11−3pm! Beware! Busy days @ LACAM& they sell out! Don’t forget to try Davey’s special pork belly cooked for hours!

Oh goodness, where do I start!?! Ordered the bbq pork banh mi sandwich which is bigger than foot longs at subway. The pork was tasty, you can totally taste and smell the spices. I was originally going for Vchos truck(which I still got something from there) but saw Banh Mi truck and immediately ordered a sandwich and Vietnamese coffee which was surprisingly strong and sweet. I will come back and try the pork belly and spring roll!

I love me a good banh mi! I even love just an okay one, but unfortunately I did not love this one. There is just nothing exciting about this sammie. None of the flavors really popped. The bread is not crispy enough. There is not enough spiciness(and I even ordered the spicy chicken on their recommendation). The only thing this place did was remind me of exactly how much I miss the Nom Nom Truck!!!

This truck had a different name in the past but it is still the best sandwich in town. I’ve been eating their Bahn Mi for several years. The bread is perfectly crunchy and chewy the veggies are fresh and the meet is succulent. Also the guys in the truck are super nice. Get there early because there’s a line because it’s so good.

They have amazing Banh Mi! The sandwich is huge! I ordered the BBQ pork Banh Mi with 2 spring rolls. It was only $ 10.50! Great deal. The food quality was superb. Every bite was crunchy and full of flavor.

New management took over the Cali Bahn Mi truck and the new owner seemed really friendly so I thought ok, I’ll give it try. First time at the Bahn in the USA truck at Miracle Mile Food Truck Row and I got the BBQ pork bahn mi and two sausage spring rolls combo. The bbq pork was a bit chewy for me, but flavor was there(not chinese char sui bbq). The carrots, daikon, cucumber were not pickled. So it tasted kinda bland. The sausage rolls were lacking the sausage(thin slice of sausage) with overwhelming lettuce and both the peanut and the lemongrass sauces were watery and lacking a bit of flavor. I would go back and try the other bahn mi’s if I was really craving it.

I’ve had my fair share of banh mi before, and let me tell you this is one of the best that I’ve had. I really liked that the bread was not stale or hard because I’ve been to places before where you get your banh mi and it taste like cardboard. This place is the complete opposite of that. I got the spicy chicken banh mi and it was AMAZING. They don’t skimp out on the meat either, which is always a plus. For a food truck all of the ingredients tasted extremely fresh and that is always a good sign of a well kept business. They run for about $ 8 for run, which is pretty steep considering in Garden Grove you can get 3 for 5, but it’s so delicious and conveniently parked near my office that I think it is well worth it. Definitely coming back here when I can.

I’ve been here twice so far since I work on the next block down. The name’s play on words is what got me to stop and try it; the people walking by humming«Born in the USA» was also something that got me to stop by and try this food truck if I’m being totally honest. Anyway, the first time I went, I got the Nem Nuong Banh Mi, in Combo #1. I was really surprised at how big the spring roll was. The Banh Mi and the spring roll were really, really good. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful and there was a perfect amount of heat from the jalapenos. The first time I got another Combo #1, only this time I decided to get BBQ pork instead of the Nem Nuong, just to sample yet another variation of the very delicious banh served here. Again the ingredients were fresh and like before, the bread was fantastic. This time I decided to get dipping sauce for my spring roll and went with the peanut sauce, which I had hoped would be a bit spicier, but was good nevertheless. For my drink option, though they have plenty of American and Vietnamese pops, I went with a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I actually had never had one before and it is the best coffee I’ve ever had. It’s very milky and sweet and I love it. I will definitely be coming here for lunch again and trying the deli special next time! Also, the location is great if you’re touring LACMA or need some protein or carbs even pre– or post-workout if that gym across from LACMA is the gym you belong to.

I walked to the food trucks on Wilshire for lunch and picked Bahn in the USA pretty much because I liked the name. I got the lemongrass tofu sandwich as it was delicious! It’s large, the bread is fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich came with cilantro, pickled veggies, tofu, and sauce. They make it to order, so I got it without the mayo, and the tofu is seasoned really well that it wasn’t missing any flavor without the sauce. I like this tofu banh mi better than most because the tofu is fresh and lightly pan fried, not the completely fried, flat tofu they use at Saigon Sandwich in SF and most other tofu bahn mis I’ve had. It felt much healthier overall. I took one star off for the price, $ 7.50 for a sandwich that usually costs around $ 4. But I can’t deny it was a delicious meal! Service was quick and polite as well.
