A great place for a nice afternoon. The drinks are great and the food delicious. Try the sliders or the skewers. But, try them on the lanai. A Mai Tai, of course, is a must. At night, the place turns into a nightclub. Julie and I are not clubbers so we left after the afternoon entertainment. If you’re young and adventurous, you might want to stick around. Update, I wrote this review about our last visit to the Mai Tai and then get slammed as a fake review. Not fake, just dated. My apologies, I’ll check next time. It seems the place has since closed.

:( Sad to see that it is now closed. Heard they were run out by the city of Long Beach.

Oh Mai Tai Bar, you’ve left me with a bitter sweet memory my experience here. Your food pricing is not bad at all. I love the live music. The atmosphere is chill. I sat at the bar with some friends and everyone was pretty cool, this includes the clientele that were there. There’s a nice presence of bouncers at the front and inside the bar. I can only assume this place was pretty wild back in its heyday. Atmosphere 5 Food 3 ½(some were too salty for my taste) Drinks — love a strong pour. It was so good that I had to take a quick nap in my car prior to driving home. *PSA* Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Overall I’m a fan. There’s plenty of street parking but if you end up in the parking garage just make sure you remember to have your ticket validated. I’m just bummed out I didn’t hang out here sooner since you will be closing your doors forever after 8÷31÷14.

This place is ridiculously understaffed. Good luck getting served. Tastes drinks though.

Weekend hang out for someone looking to party, definitely hit up their happy hour. The food was flavourful and not to expensive. On a nice cool day the patio is the best location. The shoreline is right in view and the drinks around average. Your normal beers and cocktails. This place has been around for a while. I recommend strolling the beach then getting to mai tai during their afternoon sessions with the DJ spinning his beats. Overall I had a good time this visit.

This place was Ok… Decent Mai Tai. Ok, but a bit pricey food compared to portion size. Honestly it felt kind of generic.

Worst service ever!!! Waited forever to get service. then was ignored the whole time. If you want to look at slutty waitress es Not doing their job then this is your spot ! Never again! Giving one star only because I am forced to Haha… They closed! Good riddance! The management contacted me about making things right after my horrible experience. But then never got back to me. See what you get. Worst customer service!

I will never set foot in this establishment again! 1st last and only time… I have NEVER been so embarrassed. I invited several colleagues from local law firms and hospitals to join me for an evening with a fundraising committee. Long story short while our server was BRILLIANT, after I ordered food, drinks and spent a few hundred dollars not to mention a couple hours at the same table we were told we had to give up our table because of their dance floor and we were left with drinks, food and an offer to go sit on the patio! It was extremely hot and as we had a few elderly people who couldn’t take the heat we had no choice but to leave. NEVERAGAIN! DON’T WASTEYOURTIME! LOWCLASSVENUE!

I’ve been coming here for years. Not consistently of course because Long Beach is pretty far from where I live. But whenever I am in Long Beach, I tend to stop by here for at least a few drinks. Came here after the Aquarium and I was not disappointed. They always have live bands(every time I have been here anyway) and the drinks are cheap! Definitely affordable especially if it is on their happy hour menu. Food was delicious! The only complaint I have is the bartender double charged us for one of the shots we got. Mistakes happen. I aint mad. lol The band on Sunday was legit. Didn’t catch the name but he was REALLY good. They also had someone else go up on stage. She seemed shy but damn she was talented. GOOD music, good drinks, good company

One of my favorite places to hang out at. They have happy hour on most days. The drinks are delicious and I love how they have live bands playing Polynesian music. They always have a different band when I go its the same type of music. The bartenders are nice too and friendly. I also love the interior inside very clean and comfortable. I will be coming back here again!

I remember coming to this place when they first opened. It was a great chill spot, with an awesome happy hour menu. A great bar/lounge that my friends and I would frequent a couple times a month. … and then the club downstairs closed, and this place went from chill bar to nightclub. I hated it, and didn’t come back for years. It’s definitely been a while since I’ve been back. Just recently, and friend wanted to meet up here for her birthday. I was skeptical. I had heard it wasn’t a nightclub scene anymore, but i came in with low expectations anyway. Thankfully, the rumors were right. It’s gone back. Gone back to somewhere we can go to sit, chill, and sip a mai tai without having to scream at my friends to talk to them. Now I just hope they have live music like they used to, and I’ll be a happy camper and come back more often.

It is now Hip Hop Sundays, good bye some Sunday Fundays. Music way too loud(for any age group) Wait Staff all gregarious & gorgeous. Mai Tai-tini’s and coconut shrimp are a good intro here. The crowd changes, during the eve — and therefore is of some awareness? In my best, the fun dissipates once the sun sets.

It was Hawaiian day at work. how fitting was it that I was going to the Mai Tai Bar after? I came during 6PM on a Friday for happy hour and the place was still pretty empty. I grabbed a great seat next to stage which helped immensely when they started playing. Front row… yeah! I got the south beach mai tai which kind of tasted like cough syrup in the beginning, but really grew on me after. I also got to the crispy chicken which only tasted really good with the miso sauce. Otherwise, it was basically flavorless fried chicken. I also stole some(I mean a lot) of my friend’s calamari which was perfect fried, soft, and not too chewy. The sauce that came with it was delicious and I seriously could not stop eating! As the night went on, it got super crowded. If I come again, I would definitely get there before 8PM to get a good seat and stay away from the crowds.

Alls I know is that their happy hour is some kind of Sunset Seduction. Its located amidst all the commercialized restaurants and buildings. But once you find it, Mai Tais transports your aura. The outdoor patio with Hawaiian inspired décor is lovely. The view of the port/water/Queen Mary while the sun is setting takes you to the happy place. And the double happy hour is amazeballs. Yes, amazeballs. 4pm-7pm and again from 8pm-10pm. The servers are very pretty and super nice. And the drinks are strong enough. Nico, one of the floor managers, is just plain awesome. During our own Sunset Seduction happy hour, the servers made sure that somebody always had a drink in hand, empty plates were cleared promptly, and food was served quickly. I went back another day, and Nico remembered my friends and I, and again, was exceptionally accommodating. They also have live music. My faves are the guitar singers who cover songs from all different genres. Really dope. The crowd they attract is also mellow and mature. There was once a Sublime cover band, and that crowd was super drunk, young, and quite obnoxious. But they did establish some camaraderie amongst the 30 something crowd, as we shot each other some knowing glaces. I never stay here after dark. Ever. It gets weird. Really weird.

This isn’t about the food, cuz I didn’t have any. So I come here during Grand Prix. We have a few drinks and go watch the races. Decide to go back and they tell me there’s a cover. I say«what? You just let them in!» «Well they were here this morning» I was told. Ummm well so was I?! Sorry, things changed I was told. Well eff you. Guess I’ll spend my money else where. For some reason, every Grand Prix we come here and have a negative experience.(Our favorite turn and bench is right in front). A couple of years back, we came here with friends and my wife(girlfriend then) started acting hammered. We were totally sober. Turns out she got ruffied(sp). When we called management, their reply is that they don’t have time to look at the tape. Definitely not the Mai tai bar in Waikiki. Don’t go here. And don’t drink margaritas in a suspect audience. You can’t taste the salty drug!

Just having moved back to the mainland from Hawaii and having been to the Honolulu location several times, we decided to give this location a try. I’m so glad we did. The food, the drinks, and the music were all what I had been missing from the islands. The servers were all very attentive and friendly. It’s unfortunate that the place was pretty dead even though there was live music. The Honolulu location is always packed! Give it a try, you might find that you like something different…

Going right after opening we really enjoy this please. Sitting in the sun enjoying a «real» Drink. Great décor that really plays to the whole theme. Good early or late date location. If your in the area staying at the local hotels this is a great spot to soak up the long beach views. I haven’t been for the live entertainment yet.

You need to come here during the day when it is not packed and loud. First time we came here it was around 4 pm after going to the aquarium and it was fun. However, came here last night and it was much different. First of all, WAY too loud. They have the monitors turned up all the way. We sat outside and it was loud even out there away from the dance floor. The TV outside is like 15 feet up, so you have to crane your neck to watch. Service sucked. The busboy spilled a whole thing of ketchup all over my brand new shoes. My girl was still eating her fries, he comes up and abruptly whisks the plate away all clumsily. The waitress was decent though. I should add that they did not take anything off the bill as compensation, which I find to be classless. Food was whatever. My first two fish tacos tasted good, but then the third one had an overly fishy taste. Was not the freshest fish. My girl got some pork sliders and they were good. She had two Mai Tais and didn’t even get tipsy, which is very rare for her. She’s a lightweight. Drinks are soft. This place is not that enjoyable at all.

Stop #3 on my happy hour tour was Mai Tai Bar. Place was pretty empty when I went in. Patrick promptly got me started with a whiskey and coke and let me know that happy hour specials run all day Thursday. The place definitely gave me the touristy vibe but it appears to be a spot frequented by locals. There is a strong Island theme décor wise and Caribbean music plays over the speakers. The happy hour specials and hours were pretty serious though. I have to come back when this place is more alive. Service was good, drinks were nicely priced and I couldn’t have really asked for much more. I look forward to checking this place out in the future when there is more going on. Happy Hour 4−9pm $ 3 domestic beer $ 9 pitchers $ 3.50 well drinks $ 4 Cab or Chardonnay $ 4 specialty drinks Live Entertainment Wed-Sun 5−8pm & Sun-Sat. 9:30pm-12:30am.

I came. I drank. I ate. I listened to the live band. I left. Pretty much sums up my experience at the Mai Tai Bar last Friday night with a bunch of coworkers. A few highlights: no cover. Booth seating and one free round of drinks thanks to the manager. Also because twice, our group found seating only to be told we had to move because the area would need to be cleared when the live band came on stage. Happy Hour prices weren’t bad which made the serving sizes ok otherwise, consider it overpriced. Service by the second server was great — not sure what happened to the first. The live band — didn’t catch their name, was ok. The same goes for my experience there.
