Bay Street Kitchen

We stayed at the Hyatt Centric The Pike in Long Beach, CA. As a Hyatt Diamond member we were told that we could eat breakfast in the Bay Street Kitchen and order up to $ 25/​person. The restaurant was rather slow on a Friday and we had great service. My wife got the cage-​free eggs with breakfast potatoes and bacon. They were average. I ordered the waitresses favorite, chilaquiles. The dish was amazing and a breakfast that I would go back for. We also had a coffee, green tea (Tazo) and a croissant.
Overall, this was a decent breakfast.

Had breakfast here for the last 2 days while staying at the hotel. If I returned to Long Beach, I would stay at the hotel but find a new breakfast.
As mentioned in my check in, we were met with dirty coffee cups when we sat down to eat. The hostess was mortified and comped our coffee and cappuccino, which was very nice.
Larry had the breakfast tacos both days, which were OK. Yesterday I had the breakfast sandwich. The bread was good and eggs fluffy. The bacon was well cooked. My only complaint is that the spread was slightly greasy.
Today I had their version of a Benedict, which uses bacon instead of Canadian bacon and spinach. It was pretty good and the spinach was good. The hollandaise was prepared well. I will say that $ 9 for a berry bowl was too pricey particularly when it contains very little in the way of berries and has mostly apples and an orange. We also waited a bit for our food.

We ate here for dinner and breakfast while staying at the Hyatt Pike Place. They have a limited menu but what we ate was great. My half salad was HUGE and the steak that came with it could be cut with a butter knife. Also, the wait staff were exceptional; they were friendly and helpful.

Solid food, good vibe and quick/​good service. Beer selection might use a little work but not bad.

I don’t usually do this but I was in the area and randomly stopped for breakfast here. Got to say i had one of the most pleasant servers i’ve had in a long time. A lovely server by the name of Liz waited on me. A SWEETHEART! Will definitely come back solely because of her. Oh yeah, food was great too! :)

I ate here twice during my stay at the Hyatt last weekend. I had the hot chocolate ($ 3) (totally craving) with the scrambled eggs, sausage, and breakfast potatoes ($ 11) the first time and two slices of french toast ($ 11.99) the second time. It was a bit more than I thought it would be, but both meals definitely filled me up. After telling my server, Megan, that I had very limited time in order to catch a plane, she did everything she could to speed up the kitchen and getting my ticket ready. Would definitely eat at again if I was in the area.

Awesome food made by Chef Chris. Stephanie was an amazing server. Highly recommended. I tried the tacos and the were delicious, nice take on short rib tacos. Their breakfast is on point too

The food was alright
but for two people with a mimosa each for breakfast it came to $ 47 what the heck.
Asked my waiter for ketchup & Tabasco so he brought me Tapatío.
I would never recommend this place to anyone ever.
It just sucks.

Generally I am not a fan of hotel kitchens. This fancy little place breaks the mold. The atmosphere is light and airy. The ambiance is calm and the servers are extremely friendly. On my first visit, I selected the Eggs Benedict, and it was amazing. Going back a second time I switched it up and went for the French Toast. It came with cinnamon apples on top and smelled amazing as soon as it was set down in front of me. I would recommend coming here even if you are not staying at the hotel.

I bought a Groupon deal for this restaurant and boy was I glad I did! Bay Street Kitchen and Groupon get another deal going again! What can I say the food was EXCELLENT! Great service. My son and I had breakfast here and we enjoyed it so much we are bringing our Pastor and his wife here to enjoy a great breakfast next Sunday. Looking forward to another fabulous meal and service. =D

Went for breakfast — second visit, and it was just as good as I remember. Menu is not large — but it doesnt matter when the food is so well prepared. They state they try and use local fresh ingredients, and I believe it.
Pancakes are outstanding. Light, fluffy and decadently buttery. BLT Benedict was the best. Super rich, amazingly flavorful and incredibly satisfying.
Negatives? The breakfast potatoes are dry and flavorless and its a bit pricey. But to me, I am willing to pay for the quality. Wish the potatoes were better. Though everything else more than makes up for them (and thats saying something coming from me — Im a huge breakfast potato fan).
If you want a crowded big breakfast kind of a place with a million choices — this isnt it. Its quiet and often not at all crowded. Egg dishes are primarily prepared using only egg whites and much of the choices are a la carte.
But if you want quality and flavor — you wont be dissappointed.

Overpriced. $ 3 «sandwich sized croissant» was ~3 inches across. We noticed a large dead roach on the floor next to the table and lost our appetites. Manager said it happens sometimes. We left about $ 25 in breakfast on our plates. No offer deduct it from our bill.

We went here with a groupon for breakfast. They stop serving breakfast really early like 10−11am. So go early. I got the french toast which was good. The service was great. I don’t think we will be putting this place into our regular rotation for brunch. It just was nothing special.

I’m always a fan of hotel bars and restaurants. It makes me feel that I’m out of town even though I’m not out of town.
We found this place on a Groupon offer. Unfortunately, we waited so long to come here, our Groupon expired. They still accepted it for the amount we paid for it.
We came in on a Sunday morning and it was pretty quite. I started off with coffee and a mimosa, which is not on the menu, but they do offer a full bar. For the coffee, they bring out a full jug so that you can drink as much as you want.
I had the breakfast burrito which was surprisingly good. It is fully loaded, and they grill the burritos after it is prepared so it has a good crunch to it. The salsa also had a nice kick to it. The burrito was definitely the highlight. My wife ordered a egg white omelette which was OK.
It’s a little on the expensive side, but not bad if you are in the area and looking for something different.

Which coupon deal introduced me to this restaurant? As I always walk this strand of beach, I was thinking that it was the big Hyatt on Shoreline, but it’s the baby Hyatt near the parking structure. When entertaining at The Pike, I’d always thought this was a condo unit. Who knew it was a boutique hotel? I knew it had a lounge of sorts, but not a full-​on restaurant. Good ol’ coupons…
So we ventured over one day after exercisiing, just in time for Saturday brunch. I felt underdressed. We were attended by happy people, already making it okay. I chose the chilaquiles; my guest chose the eggs benedict. I’m not too much for the egg sauce thing, but I’ve been all over England and THESE WERE THE BEST EGGS BENEDICT I’VE EVER TASTED. Yes, I was tasting off of another’s plate. Then I tasted mine, and I was in double-​heaven! As many Latin versions of chilaquiles I’ve had, this one topped them all! If I weren’t so full, I would have stayed to try something else. Nevermind, I’ll be back!
Oh, why is it missing one star? The food was EXCELLENT, but the service was slow.

After a long, hard day at Disneyland, Hubby and I wanted to find peace on the beach. We headed north towards home and found this lovely little hotel and inside this adorable local bar, the Bay Street Lounge. Mike and Takotah are the bartenders everyone dreams about having behind the bar, with their knowledge of wine, unique drinks and delightful conversation. The bar food is so good — charcuterie plates, trio of fries and all kinds of fun sammies. The french fry trio was delicious. Three kinds of fries — truffle, blue cheese and (I think) chipotle — with a homemade catsup that had a smokey flavor to it. Yummy! The place has locals floating in and out which speaks volumes for the quality of the bar. The wine list is fun, with Cali wines that are different and delicious. I fell in love with the Summerland Trio. If you like a hearty yet soft red blend, try this.
For a quick drink or an evening with friends in a chic and lovely low-​key bar, this is the place. But watch out, it’s addicting!

This place is sleepy. I had a coupon from groupon or living social and end up in this area frequently, so I though I’d give it a try. Should have known something was up when we were the only patrons in the dining room. Looked like a couple of hotel guests at the bar, but the restaurant was empty.
Had a couple small plates (and I mean small as in tiny portions) and hit the road. Maybe this place is better at breakfast, but I won’t be back. Might be ok if you are staying at the hotel, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Quite surprised that hotel food was pretty darn good! =)
We had a $ 20+ AAA coupon that allowed us to get «free» breakfast.
We ordered the socal frittata and the breakfast burrito. Both items were really good, fresh, and not greasy. They were even presented in a elegant manner (if you can imagine). =) I really liked that they lightly fried the tortilla of the burrito to give it crispiness. I also liked that the socal frittata came with egg whites only. =)
Very amicable staff. A definite recommend if you’re in the area. =)
It is a bit pricey for the amount of food though (but understandable given its location at a hotel in the Pike) — think $ 11 for the burrito.

I am definitely a fan. The lounge is beautifully designed. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the bar and lounge area. My girlfriend and I spent a couple of hours here chatting and enjoying the well-​designed space.
The AVIA cosmo was yummy. I also enjoyed the calamari, especially the remoulade. I forgot the names of the other small plates we ordered, but they were okay.
Our waitress was great – she was friendly, attentive, and made some helpful suggestions.
I’m bookmarking this place for my next staycation!

Had drinks in the bar area on a slow night waaaay before their closing time.
Sat there with empty soda glass 3 different times for at least 4 minutes each time. There were two other small groups there at the same time.
The servers spent more time doing their side duties than taking care of their guests. Poor management. Get it together.
The «greek salad» was buried in raw bell peppers. Really?
Don’t half step. If you have bad eyesight, bring a mini flashlight or something b/​c it’s super dark in there.
