Review in two parts. Mine. Then the better half. I ordered the two meat dinner. Brisket and ribs. I smoke my own brisket and ribs so I can tend to be critical. First, the brisket had good flavor but was tough. There was no drooping of the slice at all. The ribs were cooked to perfection but the sauce was too sweet. I should’ve got the dry version. I also got the cheesy grits but it was more cheese than grits. Couldn’t finish it. For appetizers we got the artichoke dip and fried pickles. Dip had little flavor and the pickles were spicy. Wife’s review: First was the watermelon tea. She called it «Phenominal». She ordered the Smokehouse Bacon Burger. A-Maze-ing. So that’s a bonus. And that’s the only reason why it’s three stars instead of just one. After a $ 90 bill I was so very disappointed. That kind of money for two at dinner should’ve been memorable. Instead, I wish I could just forget it The waiter was outstanding. Kudos to Christopher! Never had to wait for a refill. He was personable and joked with us. Couldn’t ask for better service. Next time I think it’ll be just a burger.

Subpar BBQ. Ribs were ham-esq(which canceled out the smoke). Probably using salt brine preserved pork. Biscuits were grocery store pre made dough like with sweetness added. Left thinking the place is a fake BBQ place… with actual BBQ prices(not cheap).

Fried green tomatoes and brunt ends for starters were both really good. We shared the brisket and beef Burger which was juicy and delicious… The butter pickles made this a knock out! Couldn’t resist the biscuits and apple butter… Ended with the peach cobbler and a rye whiskey nightcap.

Let me preface this by saying the waitress, the manager and service were ok The food was not. Ive been to this location twice. The GUMBO is the worst. It smelled like Turkey Gravy, but not good gravy. My son ordered it. He took two bites and was done. I took one bite. Yuk. Sent it back and explained that it wasnt Gumbo. Beef Ribs, ordered them«dry no sauce.» They had big traces of sauce. Which was not appetizing. Waitress said it probably happened on the grill. I didnt send them back. Didnt want to be a big complainer The Mac and Cheese was bland. Never order it. The Greens used to be good. Why put sausage in it? Dont remember that in it. Rib Tips were ok. $ 64 later. I left really depressed. However my son liked the Strawberry Lemonade. Wedge salad was good.

Being a girl from the south who loves BBQ, I was excited about this place. It has great drinks and the bread is pretty damn good but the food was subpar compared to the BBQ I’m use to. I got the lunch rib plate with sausage and macaroni and cheese. The server assured us the Mac and cheese was great so I got it, no Bueno. It was watery and didn’t have a real cheese taste at all and was actually quite bland. The ribs were a bit tough but the sausage and lemonade were probably the best things I had.

Dropped by for a quick lunch with my fellow Unilocaler. We ordered the lunch special with St. Louis ribs and mac and cheese. I got the tri tip with au jus and she got the hot link. Ribs were tender and meaty, tri tip was delicious as was the hot link. Spicy but not overly. Strawberry lemonade was delicious and plentiful. The mac and cheesd could have been cheesier and was a bit on the runny side but was good nonetheless. Don’t forget the biscuits with soft honey butter. Yummy and a nice lunch. I’ll be back!

Other than occasionally being out of menu items we enjoy eating here. The service is pleasant and food is always hot. The biscuits are really scrumptious and they are very stingy with them.

Service wasn’t very attentive but the food was pretty good. I’m not a ribs kind of girl so I can’t give a fair opinion on it but all my friends digged right in when the plates were set down! $ 30.99 for a choice of two meats and two sides? Not too shabby. I got the ribs for my friends and I had a BBQ chicken with corn and coleslaw. No complaints from me :)

Came here for our anniversary and as always it didn’t disappoint. My hubby had the baby back ribs and I tried the brisket salad, which by the way was huge. Natasha was our server. She was really nice and she was the one who recommended the salad. Great night thanks Lucilles!

For a trendy touristy place the food is excellent. From appetizers to dessert you can’t go wrong and the service is great too. I recommend buying the gift card from Costco.

Been here twice First time I was here the service was not that great, the host took us to our table after waiting for 20 minutes in line he seemed bored and uninterested. Then after waiting 8 – 10 minutes our server finally came over. He was nice, friendly, and offered us his recommendations which was very nice. Ended up getting the pulled pork sandwich. The wait time for the food was a little on the longer side 20 – 25 minutes and throughout the time we were waiting we did not receive any water refills until I specifically flagged him over and asked. The food the first time was ok, drenched in sauce I did not care for it too much. The second time I came here was not good at all. Went here for a late evening meal with a friend and ended up waiting a while for a seat then when the waitress came over she we told her what we wanted and before she even left the table I had changed my mind so I said«Wait actually I’ll have.» she let out a sigh and seemed annoyed for some reason — was not really friendly at all that night. We ordered drinks from the bar, wine and an old fashion. The old fashion definitely could have been better. Overall poor customer service — — — — — - A positive note is that a member of management has contact me after expressing my opinion and has stated that the issues I had pointed out will be looked into and addressed, and apologized for the not so positive experience I had. I will revisit this location in the future(few months) and will update my review upon doing so

I came here with my girlfriend, and while I still love the place, had a disappointing experience. Service was great as usual, ribs and sides A+, but the burnt ends were insulting tonight. They basically gave me chopped up brisket. Disappointing. Update 4÷20÷16 I was messaged by the manager shortly after my review. I must say they are a class act here, and worthy of anyone’s business– they do care about their customers.

My boyfriend and I came in on April 2nd after our fiasco at Gaslamp(check it out). The hostess asked how we were doing and I told her about what had happened at the previous restaurant that we went to and that we were frustrated. She sympathized with us and hoped we would have a better experience. Our server Taylor was an absolute sweetheart. She gave us enough time to cool off and check out the menus and brought biscuits in the meantime. It happened to be happy hour(yay!) so I ordered the Back Porch Strawberry Lemonade(vodka strawberry lemonade) and we shared the spinach and cheese dip. I’m not a huge fan of the dip but for 5 $ on happy hour I’m not about to complain. The drink was great and that’s all that matters. We ended up sharing the BBQ Two Meat Combo. I’m a huge fan of their BBQ beef ribs so we got the ribs and brisket burnt ends. The brisket burnt ends are AMAZING! So tender, but there’s also alot of fat on them. It comes with 3 beef ribs which is honestly a great deal considering it’s only 3 $ more for the extra choice of meat. Our first batch of ribs were badly charred and dry. The manager came over and quickly fixed the problem. The second set were super juicy. Another server ended up clearing our table and before I could think to say no the rib bones were gone! I have two dogs and they loved chewing on the bones so I asked Taylor if we could get some bones for my dogs since I forgot to tell the other server not to take them(I know it’s a weird request but I love my dogs). They had already thrown my bones away and taken out the trash so there weren’t any. She went above and beyond(seriously) and got us some bones before we left. That is completely sweet, especially since it’s a kind of odd request. When leaving the hostess remembered us and said she hoped we had a much better dining experience again.

I recently went to Lucille’s to dine in with relatives and I have to say I’m quite disappointed. If I had had Unilocal years ago I would have left a great review by now but after this recent experience I feel indifferent about dining at Lucille’s again. Our server was very rude. She came off very snobby and pretentious. I would not want to pull the race card but she was extremely nice and attentive to everyone around us. She made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. My girlfriend is a server and I know there’s people(customers) that will ruin your day over something small or unnecessary but we were never one of those customers we hardly got to interact with our server. To top it off our food was not hot more like warm. And I actually did not like my sides at all, but was definitely not comfortable speaking up about it to our server. We spent a LOT of money. It was one of our favorite restaurants. And we left her a tip regardless because she catered to us, even though we were uncomfortable. I hope customer service improves. We love lucille’s and want to come back.

We stopped here while in Long Beach when my children objected to yet another taco-related meal, which I had thought was half the reason to come to Southern California but whatever. We are sorta barbecue aficionados, so I wasn’t very optimistic, but in the end I was *very* pleasantly surprised. The food was terrific, and there was a ton of it. The sausage was excellent, and the biscuits were incredible– let me repeat, those biscuits were freaking incredible. All the times we’ve eaten locally famous, hole-in-the-wall barbecue in Tennessee and Georgia, and I have never encountered biscuits as delectable as the ones at Lucille’s. Brisket, pork, etc were very good too, as was the appetizer of fried snacks. And we all loved the oversized drinks. The lemonade was delicious. Our server was Melissa, and she was phenomenal. Enough that I wrote her name down so I’d have it handy when I wrote this review. I’d go back in a second. Next time we’re in town, I’d even choose this place over tacos.

Fun and great atmosphere for groups and family lunch or dinners. Big portions that can be shared. Love the short ribs with two sides. The location is near the beaches so you can stroll prior or after your meal around belmont or seal beach area. Parking lot is free with plenty of parking in the back if you can’t find any in the first row in the front. This location is just like other locations, except they have a cute fireplace display when you first enter.

I came in a group of 20+ on a Thursday afternoon. We had already made our reservation in advance so the restaurant could prepare for our presence. Tables had to be arranged so we could all sit in one long row… or tried to at least. Each and every one of us was called by our names as the waiters and waitresses tried to give us our plates of food. As mentioned in the intro, we tried to form one long row of tables, but we didn’t have enough space to do so. As a result, we needed one table perpendicular to the long row to create an L shape. I happened to be sitting such that I was on the inner corner of this L. After the spinach and cheese dips were handed out, I was able to get my hands on two different sets of dips because of where I was sitting. For some odd reason, I thought they tasted a little different. A co-worker thought there wasn’t much flavor in the dip, but I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t stop eating! Somehow, I was given a jar of water when I thought I had said I wanted fresh strawberry lemonade. I brought up my concern to a waitress, and she did verify that I did indeed order a fresh strawberry lemonade. And so there I was sitting with two drinks whereas everyone else had just one. And then came our main dishes. Most everyone else ordered a BBQ Lunch Platter, but I went with the BBQ Two Meat Combo with Rib Tips and Brisket Burnt Ends. My combo came with two sides. I chose the baked potato and the honey roasted peanut slaw. There was so much to the sides that I barely ate my meat by the time dessert came! The sides didn’t taste as great as I had hoped. I should have used the BBQ sauce they had on the tables, but I unfortunately never thought once about using them. Ever have one of those moments where you order a deli sandwich to go, take the sandwich out of the bag, eat it, and then realize you had mayo and mustard at the bottom? Yup… that was me. The meat was pretty good, but like I said earlier, I didn’t eat much since I was so hung up on the baked potato and honey roasted peanut slaw. What terrible decision of sides I made! Not that the sides were bad, but there wasn’t as much flavor as I had hoped even when I tried to combine the two together. And then came the bread pudding. Just like how I was the only one in my group to order a BBQ Two Meat Combo, I was the only one in my group to order bread pudding. It wasn’t bad at all. Quite a unique dessert, but it’s certainly not one of my favorites. Another terrible decision made by me, myself, and I. After reading all this, you’d think I’d give this review a 3 or a 4. But why am I giving it a 5 instead? Well first, I made five terrible decisions that were all my fault: two for my choice of sides, one for my choice of dessert, one for not using the BBQ sauces on the table, and one for pigging out on too much spinach and cheese dip. To blame the restaurant for any of those decisions would be crazy talk! Second and most importantly, the customer service was absolutely top-notch. We were treated like VIPs. All the waiters and waitresses were so courteous and took care of us so well that each and every one of us left with smiles on our faces. I had so much leftover meat that they gave me a big black takeout box for me to take home. I also wasn’t able to finish my bread pudding(mainly because I was full), so I had to ask a rather silly question: «Is there a rule against taking a second take-out box?» Luckily, there wasn’t, and so I was given a smaller black takeout box for my leftover bread pudding. I was able to finish my fresh strawberry lemonade, but not my water. I joked with a co-worker in front of a waitress that I should order a cup to go. It sounded silly to me, but that waitress actually brought me a tall Lucille’s BBQ cup. She thought I was being serious. Hah! «Derek, you’re the only person I know who actually takes out water from a restaurant,» said another co-worker. Hey as long as I got a limited edition Lucille’s BBQ cup, why not? There were three biscuits left over. I was already taking two takeout boxes and a cup of water. Another co-worker found an unused takeout box and suggested I bring the biscuits home as well. «You’re crazy dude. There is NO way I can carry all this all by myself,» I replied. And then moments later, a waitress offered me a plastic bag. «Oh! In that case, I’ll take the three biscuits with me then!» I walked out of the restaurant carrying a limited edition Lucille’s BBQ plastic bag, a limited edition Lucille’s BBQ cup, and three takeout boxes of leftover chicken, rib tips, brisket burnt ends, bread pudding, and biscuits. «Well Derek, looks like you’ve got dinner for tonight, AND lunch for tomorrow made,» said another co-worker. Not quite. I actually ate all my leftovers over the course of four meals in a three-day span starting from the day after that lunch. Yeah there really was that much food. I was one of the most unique guests, but they never denied me my ridiculous requests.

Lucille’s is an interesting foil to Naples Rib down the block. Sure, both have large-ass BBQ portions, but Lucille’s got more smoked meats. The tri-tip sandwich I got filled me up good for the entire day, and came out tender. The potato bun could have been better — it tasted like something out of a grocery store megapack. The pasta dish my fiancé got was real hearty, and had lots of flavor. Overall good BBQ, but Naples is still the king of Belmont Shores.

Came here on Halloween, and it was great seeing all the staff dressed in costumes. The service here is always great, and it’s wonderful to see the staff having such a great time. My group of 4 came between lunch & dinner, so the restaurant was not very busy when we arrived. We were seated right away, and our waitress was there immediately to take drink orders. My friends ordered their drinks right away, but it took me a while to decide. When I finally did order my Lucille’s flight of beer samplers, I think they forgot about me. It took excessively long, and we had to ask a busboy to find out what happened. When they finally did get delivered to the table, I was disappointed to see how small each of the 4 beer samplers were(basically like large shot glasses). Although it was nice to sample 4 different beers, it doesn’t appear to be a very good value. I like the fact that they bring their delicious, warm, buttermilk muffins to munch on while you are waiting for your order to arrive. I got the BBQ Chicken Salad, and added a slice of their incredible corn bread(it’s almost like cake). The portions here are very generous, so although the prices are a bit high, you really get what you pay for.

Great BBQ place with huge portions. This Lucille’s is located inside the Long Beach Town Center. I came here on a Wednesday night and after shopping around a little, I was starving! Because I was here on a Wednesday night, there was no wait to get seated. There was booths and tables in the restaurant and I had asked about sitting in a booth, but the hostess said there was a wait for the booth. Boo! Since I was hungry, I decided on the table. Our waiter was very prompt and answered all of our question. I decided on the half rack of beef ribs and the jambalaya. The food came out pretty quickly and I dug in. The jambalaya was pretty good. The favoring and spices blended well together. The meats in the dish were very tender and all the spices were fused into the protein. Definitely a must try. The ribs were also pretty good. They were pretty juicy and tender. The ribs came with 2 sides and I opted for the mashed potato and the coleslaw. I liked the mashed potato, but the coleslaw was a little watery for me. I am going to skip the coleslaw and try something else next time. I also like my ribs wet, and Lucille’s provided plenty of sauces for me to dip my ribs into. Because the portions were so huge, I had a whole bunch of left overs to take home. Our waiter was also nice and he brought us small containers for our sides. I will definitely come here again if I am ever back in the Long Beach Town Center. Parking is here is great since it is located in the Long Beach Town Center, there is plenty of parking around.

I had my high school graduation dinner here and so did my brother! This is a great place to go with a big group of people or your family! We usually order some sort of family platter. My grandpa loves the coleslaw with peanuts, my grandma loves the sweet potato fries – which are crisp on the outside and sweet on the inside, and my mom loves the biscuits – so fluffy and melt in your mouth with the apple butter. My brother stands by the chicken which is really juicy and moist, and my other brother loves the baby back ribs. I like literally everything. The only thing that wasn’t great was the peach cobbler we ordered one time. The pastry seemed undercooked and the fruit were kind of lukewarm. But 5 stars for everything else being incredible whenever we come. Tip: buy the Costco giftcards and use those to pay!
