If you are looking for a place to sit outside and find a moment of rest amongst the hustle of 2nd street, this is the place. It has great coffee, I loved the iced especially, as well as sandwiches. However, the stars of the show are the pastries, cookies, and cakes!

Real crappy service. Came here on Memorial Day morning. Servers are more concerned about getting your orders hastily than giving quality service. The female server who took our order sounded like a robot going through her motions. I asked about vegetarian options about their menu but they seem very impatient. Food is so so. Nothing real special to make me want to come back here despite bad service. Needless to say, We will never be back here ever again.

Unfortunately I can’t rate the pastries or coffees, what they are known for. I arrived at 7:50pm on a Tuesday with my husband for an after dinner pastry and a latté to share. I placed my order with the cashier for the drink, to which she turned to another employee and asked if she could still make our latté. She replied«No.» I was so upset that we left. It seemed like she put the discretion upon herself. I really didn’t understand why she couldn’t make it, they were open to taking orders to everything but espresso drinks? I was so turned off that I didn’t even feel like getting anything else from another bakery after we left. Even if they were close to closing time, if they are not willing to make espresso drinks after a certain time, they can at least put a sign up to clearly indicate that. I wouldn’t bother to try this place again!

Love the pastries, WiFi avaliable. In the winter months is freezing inside they keep all the windows opened. I’ve been there studying and closed window near me only for it to get reopen by a male employee.

Short-term parking is available right in front, so that’s convenient! Unfortunately the macarons here were dry and not that tasty. That was disappointing. On the positive side, we tried a delicious cheese croissant and chocolate one that was also great! When we’re in the area, it’s a nice little stop for baked goods, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

BEST pastries in town! Pretty much everything is delicious and it’s nice to sit outside and enjoy all that’s happening on Second Street. Service is good and I also can’t understand some of the bad reviews below. Jeeeez, some people are fast to leave a bad review for a pastry, a cup of coffee or a response they didn’t like. Servers are working for minimum wage and still have a smile on their face. That’s good enough for me and again, the food is amazing!

We love it here. It has become one of our favorite weekend morning places to come. I love their vanilla lattes. Everyone is friendly too. Breakfast wraps, breakfast croissants very good too!

I am new to the neighborhood and I thought I found my new coffee shop, but I was wrong. Last week I went in and ordered a large«Iced Asian Coffee», it was very good and Large. Since this type of coffee is full of ice the larger the better. I went again this morning expecting the same coffee but was mistaken when I received my order in a much smaller cup. I said very nicely«I ordered a large» the server replied«this is a large.» I made mention of my previous experience was told«your wrong, this is a large and she must have been new.» What service! My expectation were not meet and I will continue on my search for my «new» coffee house. This is sad because the coffee there is so good. That’s the only reason for two stars.

I come here at least once a month. Friendly staff. Great coffee. Baked goods are fab. Croissants are crisp and lite. Crepes are perfect. Everything is made to order. Nice outside patio to eat at.

I always pass by this place on my way home from 2nd street and finally decided to stop in because of the Unilocal reviews on their macarons. They werent bad and the price was better than a few other places nearby. I might come back and try some other things as their pastry case had some really beautiful and good looking items.

Babettes’s Feast has been on 2nd st for a long, long time. It’s always been a favorite of mine but just haven’t been there for a couple years. The quality of food has always been very good. I’m not sure if it was just a new food preparer or a new owner but it didn’t quite seem the same. The food was still good but… just not as good as before. The French onion soup is one of my favs here and just about the only place I enjoy eating it. Very good. They also have a good variety of European style pastries too. You know… Those little jewels from heaven you eat and end up regretting later? OK. At least I do. They are good. It’s a totally laxed atmosphere where you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I like it more for breakfast though. Lox on a bagel with a strong cup of coffee. Niiiice…

I haven’t written a review on Unilocal in years! However, I come to Babette’s several times a week since I live near there, and everything I have tasted here is absolutely delicious. I feel like I have to leave a review to side-step all the incredibly grumpy individuals who have left bad reviews for some curious reason… maybe they didn’t have their coffee yet when they wrote their review? The croissants are so flaky you might have an out of body experience on the first bite — the apple one is my favorite though as it tastes like grandma made it with all her lovin’. The coffee/espresso is robust in flavor and always fresh and hot. Everyone behind the counter is friendly and accommodating, especially Gonzo, who you will recognize by his amazing gold Egyptian-looking arm bands. Where does he get this great jewelry, I ask?! I will let this remain a mystery just so that I can be extra amused every time I go in, imagining the strange black market bazaar he bought them from in my dark imagination. I’m sure in reality he got them somewhere banal, like Kohl’s, but a girl has got to keep herself entertained! I digress… the sandwiches are made with fresh bread they make right on the premises and always hit the spot, whether vegetarian or with meat(the turkey sandwich w/avocado and bacon really gets my salivary glands going on overdrive though, man…). The breakfast sandwiches made with english muffin, egg, etc are the perfect alternative to chemical high-jacked fast food yuck you could get at Jack n the Box or some other questionably clean establishment. Honestly, there are a lot of places you can go in Belmont Shore to eat, but this one is one of my favorites for being consistently delicious, so, if I were you I would support this local Long Beach business and try it out!

Stopped by while going to Creamistry down the street. Tried a nutella macaron and thought it was pretty good — it held its own against the much pricier maacarons from Bottega Louie. We also got a giant palmier to nibble on — simple good caramelized sugar over buttery pastry. Not a bad place to stop by!

First time at Babette’s for breakfast, I was a little worried about all the bad reviews but my food came out great. We had the California omelet, California crêpe and an iced chi tea all really yummy, fresh and they gave us generous portions. I will definitely be back. We sat on the patio which was a good idea because it was a little too warm inside due to the ovens and it being a relatively hot day.

For some reason I had it in my head this was a small bakery only. I was wrong! They serve actual real food. I’m on a budget so I went with the(essentially) McMuffin. It was under 8 bucks and hit the spot. My ladydate and I both ordered Micheladas, don’t make that mistake… she couldn’t finish hers and I tried to power through best I could since I paid for it. Overall this is a pretty cool chill little spot on 2nd for a some cheaper brunch options.

Was looking for a place that had macarons that was within my area and I’m glad I tried this place. The macarons are delicious! Hazelnut is my absolute favorite. I love how colorful and bright their macarons are. $ 1.75 per macaron, $ 12.95 for 7 w/gift box, or a dozen for $ 19.95.

Sea salt iced coffee is one of my guilty pleasures. When I first moved to Belmont Shore, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a place that actually sold it. I always ask for half the sugar/caramel because it is ridiculously sweet otherwise. This really is a once in a blue moon treat for me. I think Babette’s makes a decent cup of coffee, but it is nothing to write home about. It seems to be pretty inconsistent too. The strength of the coffee, degree of sweetness, and amount of saltiness seem to differ. I enjoy the sea salt iced coffee at 85 Degree Bakery or 7 Leaves much better. I only go here when I absolutely do not want to drive anywhere. The service seems to be inconsistent too. Sometimes the cashier/barista is super nice, other times — not so much. Also, FYI there is a minimum $ 5 for debit card use. They also serve a variety of food, but I have never tried any of it. The quiche looks really good though. 1 star for location, 1 star for convenience, and 1 star for novelty. People thought your review was:

I had the salted caramel, hazelnut, and vanilla macaroon. The hazelnut was the best but none of them were my favorite. They are very colorful, very crisp, but lacking in quality flavor. My son had the chocolate chip cookie, he said it was a 4 star cookie.

It’s quite good for the price, location, and they have friendly customer service. I’m not saying its the best café there is, but if you want to try something new in Long Beach, definitely check this place out. I ordered their vol au vent and strawberry lemonade; it was satisfying. They have macaroons as well and it is not overpriced compare to others.

Okay, so I’m not even done eating my food, but I just can’t wait to shower praises on this awesome little café. The quiche Lorraine and onion soup are just as good as the ones I had in Paris — just without the Eiffel Tower in the background :(should that warrant a star deduction? Lol. Anyhow, until now, I’ve been making the trek to La Provence in Brentwood for good quiche — I’m happy to say that trek will no longer be necessary as I’ve found the quiche I’ve been craving and will definitely be back for more. Macarons and pastries are next… review coming soon :)
