The food is good but they really need to work on their customer service. I had a waitress tell me «I know… wait for me» after we tried to get her attention and she never came back. We tried to get someone else to take our order and it took 3 more tries. Not happy at all with their service.

Nice décor, quick service, nice family vibe, spacious dining. Looks upscale for a non upscale price. We had a phở and wonton soup bowl, the broth was clean and flavorful… A smidge on the salty but overall yummy :)

A rare find for a decent Vietnamese restaurant in IE! Everything is delicious here & I don’t have to drive to Sawtelle or Little Saigon to get my Vietnamese fix. They are rocking Orange County prices and all in all, it is an incredible value and should by all means have only one dollar sign instead of two on Unilocal. The noodles are great, the meat is great, the soup is great, the basil leaves I add are great. Seriously, what else is there? Service is quick and professional.

This is just for the fried banana with ice cream worth $ 6. Those were the smallest wrapped fried bananas I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Four pieces bananas as big as my Asian thumb and a scoop of vanilla ice cream is not worth the price!

The other Vietnamese restaurants are child’s play compared to the selections this one offers. French sandwiches and crepes! I would never have walked into this place because it’s so dark from the outside.

I absolutely think that the food here is very delicious and fresh. The sad thing is service has gone down to ZERO that I could not go back. They are so understaffed it took forever just to get water. Food took long time to come out we have to literally grab the 1 waitress for attention. This is real sad as this was my to go to Vietnamese restaurant. But as poorly serviced as we were the last few visits, we just won’t go back.

We had a big party of 12 and they were very accommodating. I did call ahead of time so they had two servers for us. Food came quickly and they did separate checks. The food was good too.

This is one of those reviews that absolutely just Kills me. I’ve been eating here since 2005, so when I saw their ratings had gone down to 3.5 stars, I just couldn’t believe it. In fact, last time I reviewed them(because I come every time I’m in town), I enthusiastically gave them 5 stars! But unfortunately, I now understand. I don’t know if they were simply horribly understaffed, or the server was just very slow, but it took over 30 minutes to be greeted/get drink orders(and she left half way through that order to do something else), and an hour just to get the first appetizers. Five of us did not get refills on the hot tea for the entire second half of the meal, we had to continuously ask for the air to be turned down because we were having to eat in coats just to not freeze to death, and we found a hair in the food. If this was Any other restaurant, this rating would be a 1. However, this is, and will continue to be, one of my favorite restaurants in Southern California because of the quality of FOOD. For vegetarians, I unequivocally recommend the kale and spinach wantons, ginger eggplant, veggie meat salad, veggie meat summer rolls, and tofu lettuce wraps(and I note that each of these vegetarian items are still Loved by all the meat eaters). However, for the less adventurous omnivores, I recommend the shrimp summer rolls, chicken claypot, and sizzling steak.

Entering this place for the first time my expectations were not high. I would have preferred to go to a Chinese buffet or in-n-out, but it was a friend’s birthday and thus I was forced to go to some random foreign restaurant when there is a perfectly good Subway next door. That’s what i get for being friends with a bunch of koreans i guess… Anyways, I ordered a tasty sounding chicken plate lunch special. Moments later Bianca brought me a bowl of the soup of the day. Some vegetable concoction they called lentil soup. Once the steam settled I tried a spoonful… my taste buds have never tasted such culinary mastery! It was like my mouth became a portal to another dimension, my taste buds met with a council of omniscient beings, and after learning the mysteries of the universe were transported back to my mouth. Such flavor, such smells, words cannot describe. A few minutes later my meal arrived. If the mere soup-of-the-day was so astounding, so breath-taking, just try to comprehend what the main course entailed. The only way i can rationalize it is by assuming these chickens were raise on the top of a mountain by a 10,000 year old sacred order of monks. And fed only the perfect blend of spices while given daily massages. Such flavors, such textures my mind can hardly comprehend. It brings me to tears. The memory seems almost as a dream, like it was too good to be true. I was in a daze, questioning reality, questioning everything I thought I knew about the very fabric of this world. My mind was opened, I have received enlightenment. Great prices, variety, fast service, the best food known to mankind.

The food is good but the service is godawful. Two of my friends and I sat ourselves,(because no one was around/acknowledged us when we walked in) and I’m certain we were being punished for doing so. A server brought us water after about 15 minutes. By that time we were ready to order. I ordered an iced coffee, summer rolls, and the Phở Chay(vegetarian phở). The summer rolls came out first, then my iced coffee, and my phở came out about 15 – 20 minutes after both of my friends received their orders of phở. I don’t understand why the service was so slow. There were three servers and two other parties. On a Sunday afternoon. o_O. Never again.

Beef eye round well done brisket phở is delicious however they over price a lot of their items. Got charged $ 3.80 for a lemonade that was filled to the top with ice and had no refills. Beware of their overpriced items!

4 – 5 for the food, but a 2 for the awful service. I think a 3.5 is pretty accurate when you combine the two. One of my favorite restaurants for taste in Redlands. I haven’t tried anything that I haven’t liked here. The food and veggies here are always really fresh. My favorites include: –bo luc luc– the beef is so tender and flavorful and at lunch the price is right. At many vietnamese restaurants this dish can be overpriced, but the price is reasonable here. –grilled beef with bun– veggies are fresh and plentiful unlike some places. The proportions are just right with the meat, noodles, and veggies. The grilled beef is very flavorful. I consider this dish to be one of my go to healthy dishes in redlands, but it packs so much flavor. –vietnamese sandwich/banh mi with onion beef– the french bread is fresh and crispy and the onion beef packs so much flavor and goes well with their sauce. Definitely the best vietnamese sandwich I’ve had. –tofu spring rolls– this appetizer is pretty simple, but I love how light and healthy it is. The tofu is cooked to perfection and the rolls look appetizing since the veggies are so fresh and the rolls are presented well. The peanut sauce pairs well with the spring rolls. I could probably eat this if I wanted a light healthy meal for lunch or a snack. Want something unique? Try the beef with grape leaves, especially if you are hands on with food. The beef is perfectly seasoned and flavorful and wrapped in grape leaves. You can taste the grill/char from the beef. They give you a variety of veggies and sides to put inside to make a wrap. Often I’ll pass on this dish though because it’s so hard for me to get the outside spring wrap perfect when dipping it in water. Mine always ends up a little chewy or too soggy. If you can do it properly though, this dish is worth it. For vegetarians: I recommend the green beans were tofu and veggie phở. Both are flavorful and packed with vegetables. The sauce is super tasty with the green beans and the broth and preparation of the veggies on the veggie phở are perfect. I’ve tasted both, but rarely order it unless my fiancé’s mom orders it, since she’s vegetarian. I’ve also tasted the lemongrass beef, which was good but I wouldn’t say it’s a favorite. It’s worth a try though. Prices here are super reasonable here. The lunch specials are a steal and you can feed two for under $ 15 dollars. The bahn mi are really affordable if your on a budget. It’s about 4 dollars for one. The one big painful con of the restaurant is the SERVICE. It’s pretty awful and if you can’t stand bad service or don’t have the time to wait, I’d order to go. I’ve been here multiple times were dishes would come out at multiple times. A couple times I was almost done/done with my food before my food date’s food came out. On rare occasions the service is average. This is often during the evening. They need to hire more help or make service more efficient here. The service is pretty unacceptable sometimes. I wouldn’t take a date here for the first time. The ambiance is a little dark inside and not super inviting. Overall, taste-wise A Dong is still one of my go to restaurants in Redlands especially when I’m craving healthy food that packs a punch. Definitely blows the Vietnamese food in San Antonio(my current city) out of the water.

Pleasant lunch experience at #adong. It’s a very welcoming and calming place with 2 separate dining areas. The wait staff is very friendly and can recommend items based on your taste preference. Unique veitnmes entrees, sandwiches and phở. Good selection of lunch specials at reasonable pricing. Order a vermicelli noodle salad, which was light and refreshing. The side soup of the day– Rice chicken was delicious and the mocha cappuccino was awesome. Overall a nice place for lunch

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Their ingredients are really good quality, and the food is really good as well. We always order the vermicelli either with grilled pork or as the combination with crispy spring rolls and grilled pork. For starters, the soft summer rolls(most commonly known as spring rolls at every other Vietnamese restaurant) with shrimp are good. As far as the phở goes, I really like the broth here; has lots of flavor. I always get the filet mignon with meatball. Another must try is the grape leave wraps. You do have to make them on your own, but they are so delicious! They used to only have the banh mi sandwiches on occasion, but it seems they are a regular item on the menu now. Definitely recommend the grilled pork banh mi. The atmosphere here is really nice, doesn’t scream family restaurant but doesn’t really say date location either. It’s one of the more upscale Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. Sometimes it can get a little slow because they don’t have very many staff members, so try to call in to order for pick up when you can.

I love going to A Dong! It’s location is perfect when I need a bite to eat during work. They have a great deal on lunch items from Roasted Chicken to Mongolian Beef. And their lunch specials come with soup of the day, rice, and salad. All this for less than $ 8!!! I call that a deal. My favorite so far is the Roasted Chicken. Also, great Thai Iced Tea and/or Coffee. All in all, great place for lunch!

The food is so good here! I came during my lunch hour and ordered one of the lunch specials which was the beef curry. My entrée came with a cup of soup and a side of white rice with s little salad. Service was great and the restaurant is small and clean. I will come back for sure.
