After 4 years of having no Filipino food, this was the first place I hit up once I moved back to my home state. I came in when they were just opening, so the turo-turo items were not all out, yet. I did have the longsilog, which hit the spot. I probably ate too much and too fast, but you have no idea how badly I missed Filipino food. I may have read the menu wrong, or perhaps I should have asked, but I didn’t get achara with my meal. No big deal, but plain tomatoes didn’t do much for me. Owner, who is also a realtor, mentioned at the time that they were offering lechon on the weekends by the pound, and that he offers a whole lechon if he helps sell your house.

I love Silog! I don’t know of any other Filipino restaurants within 100 miles that has this great quality of Filipino breakfasts. The service is outstanding and friendly. The place is clean. They also do catering and have Lechon! My only complaint is that they close on Sundays.

If your looking for great authentic Filipino food. Look no further. I went in today to check out the place and grab some food to go. $ 7 gets you almost any plate on the menu with hot rice and freshly cooked eggs to order. I got the Adobo Chicken and would definitely recommend it.

I’ll definitely support the new ownership as of 3÷1÷15, Marilou & Mark are such good people they deserve to have good things happen for them. Recently moving to the area from the LBC, seeing some Filipino comfort food was like a mirage in the desert, except it was for real! Did I mention unlimited rice!?! Come on in, I don’t believe you will be disappointed.

What’s a «House of Silog N Ihaw Ihaw», you ask? Well, let me break it down for you… The word«ihaw» in Tagalog(main dialect of the Philippines) simply means«Grill», such as in «Chili’s Bar & Grill»… Why they double the words is another lesson so we’re not going there today, haha. The word«silog» is made up by the locals and broken down this way: The«si» is a prefix of the word«sinangag»(not to be confused with another Filipino dish, Sinigang), meaning«Fried Rice». The«log» is a suffix of the word«itlog», meaning«egg». In essence, «silog»(or, «-silog») is basically a dish that has fried rice and egg, which is a staple of Philippine breakfast. [Side Note: Philippine breakfast is eaten any time of day] So, the restaurant name is basically a Fried Rice and Egg House & Grill… but that doesn’t sound as great as «House of Silog N Ihaw Ihaw», right! :-) Now it gets interesting from here because this restaurant stays true to its name by their menu items. I’m going to get Bubba(from Forrest Gump) on you now because they sell items such as: TAP-silog(«tapa» meaning«cured beef», almost like a jerky) BANG-silog(«bangus», or the Philippine National Fish: Milk Fish) LONG-silog(«longanisa», Philippine sausage) Now, try guessing the rest on your own time… it’s fun! :-) * SPAMsilog * HOTsilog * ADOBOsilog * BARsilog * SISIGsilog * CORNsilog * HAMsilog * DRUMsilog * CHOPsilog … they have an extensive«silog» menu board. Alright. We are now done with Silog 101. Let’s move on to the review, shall we? LOCATION/PARKING: House of Silog can be easily found on the cross streets of Redlands Blvd and Mountain View. By the way, they have a great view of the surrounding mountains(Arrowhead and Big Bear here). It can get congested during lunch hour since it is shared with other businesses of this plaza. ATMOSPHERE/INTERIOR: The first thing you see is the large menu board(with pictures) of all the silog platters. You’ll probably notice a sign that says, «CASHONLY» as you enter and near the register; however, they have an iPAD«cash register» so maybe they accept credit cards here? I should’ve asked. There’s a few tables for quick dining and plenty of seating. The counter is open and you can see the cute, little lady cooking away. I would probably conceal some areas because the counter space is so huge. By the way, you are going to smell like Filipino Food when you walk out… just fair warning. HOWTOORDER: You basically just walk up to the counter and tell them what you want from the menu board. There are also some hot and ready items such as fried fish, steamed rice, menudo, etc. if you are in a hurry. You pay at the counter and then take a seat to wait for your dine in or to go items. Very cafeteria-esque. WHAT I ORDERED: I came here on accident trying to find another location but stopped in to try it out. I ordered the Barsilog, which is Barbeque Skewers with Fried Rice and Egg. The cute little lady asked if I wanted Chicken or Pork but asked for one of each since the platter comes with two skewers. The fried rice was a little too oily for me. I know, I know… it’s fried. But I prefer the«fried» rice to be more glutinous(sticky) so that there’s less oil because each grain of rice in this dish separated easily … there was no sticky factor. The platter also comes with 2 fried eggs with a runny yolk. If you don’t like your eggs runny, advise them at the counter and let them know you want the yolk well done. WAITTIME: Have you heard of Filipino Time? OMG, seriously, I was waiting forever for my food! Well, there were about 10 – 12 people in the same party all waiting for their orders. Luckily I’m a patient person so I didn’t mind the wait, especially since I saw only one lady working. She cooked, served, and rang me up. Although she had another helper bring out the food. If you don’t have the patience, you’ll probably want to either call and place your order, or choose one of the hot and ready items for your convenience. CUSTOMERSERVICE: They are friendly. And, yes, they speak English. You have to get your own plastic utensils and napkins from the front counter. They also have condiments behind the front counter such as vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, etc. PRICE: Affordable at $ 6.99 for any of the silog items. OVERALL: The price is right, it’s close by, and when I get a craving for Filipino food, I’d come back. It’s a solid 3.5 stars. I’ll be back and try other silog dishes here. I wonder if they make KBBQ-silog or BOLUCLAC silog here, hehe. Try it out and see if you like it too. Enjoy! :-)

This place has horrible service when I arrived at noon on a Tuesday. I would’ve expected a line since it was lunch time but there wasn’t. I thought to myself, «even better,» since I only have 30 minutes for lunch. I opened the door and they had 4 customers and no line and no employees. I stood there reading the menu for a good 5 minutes and no one acknowledged me being there as everyone was in the kitchen. I tried standing near the register so I could get noticed by an employee. A lady came out from the kitchen 5 minutes later to get rice since the rice cooker was in front. She then proceeded to walk back to the kitchen and didn’t acknowledge me being there. 10 whole minutes standing there wasting my damn time. Where’s the courtesy? Where was this so called«hospitality» Filipinos are known for? I should know because I am one. My experience was horrible. By the way, it says«fast food» right on the windows. I think they were going by Filipino time(usually 2 hours late)

My sister and I grew up with a Filipina best friend and spent countless nights eating her mom’s fried rice and lumpia. One Sunday afternoon recently we were feeling nostalgic so we found this place and made the drive. The woman at the counter was a sweetheart and very patiently explained to us what they had available and what each entrée was(despite some experience with the cuisine we are, after all, pretty clueless white girls). It seemed like out of the 15 or so combos on the board they only had 4 or 5 available, but we settled on combo plates with pork and chicken skewers along with chicken lumpia. The food took a little while, but we settled in and watched the Filipino dramas on the television. Now, my sister is a bit lumpia obsessed. It’s probably hands-down one of her favorite foods from childhood, a ‘madeleine’ if you will. She LOVED this lumpia and coveted the leftovers for the rest of the day. The other food was good, too; the meat was well-seasoned and tender(no grisly bits… hurray!). We’ll definitely be back here whenever we have a craving.

I went here because I was craving for some filipino food and stumbled upon this place. I ordered one of the silog plates and a filipino drink called sago. The food was delicious but the drink was nasty. It tasted like medicine and the bubble sagos wasn’t cooked properly.

Sadly there are not too many Filipino restaurants in this neck of the woods and the ones that are around are fast food. What gives? This is somewhat fast food but it is what is available in the bloody IE. Perhaps 1 day Redlands/Loma Linda will have a family style restaurant serving delicious Filipino cuisine like the ones in LA. Pinoy’s combos are pretty good. For under $ 7.00 you get a delicious plate of rice, 2 eggs, and meat of your choice. I like the chicken skewers, pork chop and beef. I’m going to try the Spam next time.

Filipino fast food is a great option if you are tired of fast food. I chose the stewed chicken and barbecue pork on a skewer. Both items were enjoyable! I definitely enjoyed the barbecue pork, I can imagine that it tastes even better right off the grill! For two items and two scoops of white rice the total came out to about $ 8 – 9. For a medium sized Asian American, I thought it was plenty and I could get 2 meals out of it(3 if I were on a diet, haha). Anyway I am glad we have such great ethnic eats in the IE!

I ate here for a long time, but eventually stopped going. Pro– decent tasting food with a rotating variety at a buffet looking style warmer. Very nice workers and owner. It’s great to be a regular here Cons– well the prices are a bit high. While I don’t mind paying a bit more for good food, this isn’t so much the case here. The value isn’t very good. A lot of the food is pre made sitting in a warmer or they heat it up for you. The price is too high for that kind of food. For that price I should be eating at a nice restaurant. And eventually I found more food in the surrounding area that is cheaper and tastes better. It bece hard to justify coming back. There is also a quality issue with the cook. Food can be inconsistent. In summary, it’s not terrible food, it’s just fine, but a bit pricey for me.

This place is amazing. I’ve never seen so many variations of –silog. You even have the option of switching to get salted egg. They also have the regular turo-turo menu if you dont like the –silog menu. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating.(They have a branch in Palm Springs-same plaza as food for less plaza). And what’s also great is that they gave us a discount the first time we came here.

Ripoff!!! Bad and definitely not worth the price. C’mon $ 6.99 for 10 pieces of tiny lumpia?! Idiot owners should know that equates to $.69 per lumpia and these small and not very crunchy pieces aren’t worth it. Now their longonisa wasn’t bad, but I know they didn’t make them, so that’s why they got 1 star(I can’t go any lower… Unilocal won’t let me). Oh and the«cook» that likes to smoke near the doorway entrance, c’mon, really?! Your food needs all the help possible without you making the area smell bad. So for almost $ 40, we got lonsilog(Filipino sausage w/eggs and rice… meh), two orders of their underwhelming lumpia(Filipino eggroll) and a beef soup(also meh). Not worth it and I will not be coming back. I’m Filipino BTW, and I’ve been to some really good Filipino restaurants and this place just plain sucks!!!

I will admit that I don’t know half of the words on the menu, but the food that I had(whatever it was) was delicious! A co-worker of mine introduced me to this place. What a blessing! I learned that Silog is a word derived from half the word of rice, and half the word for egg. I hope I am remembering this correctly. Don’t ask me what N Ihaw Ihaw is though… Came here for lunch, and it was surprisingly busy. Definitely a mom pop shop, which gives this place 100 bonus points in my book. Had the fish silog. It came nicely prepared with two scoops of garlic rice, fried egg and fish, layed out on a banana leaf. I wolfed the entire thing down within 15 minutes. The only downside is food can be a little slow here. Definitely made to order, and the food is fresh, so I don’t mind the wait. The people here were all very friendly. I would definitely come here again! Next time I’m going to try the pancit and perhaps adobo as well!

I definitely like this place. There aren’t too many choices for Filipino food, no less silog’s, and this place is pretty good. We’ve tried the tapsilog(marinated beef), tocilog(sweet marinated pork), and the cornsilog(corned beef hash). All are well prepared. We also tried the pancit guisado. This item is made to order — so you’re going to need to be a little patient with this one. But it is definitely worth the wait. The canton noodles are well seasoned and filled with a lot of meat and vegetables. Chicken, chinese sausage, and lechon kawali — it’s all in there.
