Great sushi… but…The waitress had to ask the manager if it was okay to substitute a eel roll with a tuna roll. Should be an instant yes. The free salad was 6 leaves of iceberg lettuce, with dressing. The lettuce looked limp. See photo. I like the sushi but they need to work on being less stingy. Add cucumber and a cherry tomato to the salad, it would really help.

Don’t do it! Terrible experience. We had to ask for our drinks twice and after 5 – 7 minutes, we recieved them, and it was water, not our drinks, two more times, finally, drinks were here. Had to ask for our Utensils 3 times before getting up and approaching one of the employees to help us. We had ordered, all you can eat sushi, and a couple of the habachi entrees. Food came out at different times(minutes apart) and the entrees were maybe a bit hotter than room temp. Did not get the ginger or mustard sauce with the meals, had to ask again. One of the habachi entrees had several lemon seeds in it. Very poor and slow service, food was of poor quality. As we paid and we’re walking out, we noticed how filthy this place was. Our shoes were sticking to the floor. Never again. The service was so poor, with only 3 other couples dining. 3 of us and $ 100 bill, I would expect a decent experience. Not tonight.

Sooooo, I feel I should have known better. I live in California and eat copious amounts of sushi. I expect a certain level of freshness, but NEVER expect the glitz and fanciness of what California sushi is with its fancy fusion presentations are. This place was not good. Not even OK. I should have walked back out when I sat down at the sushi bar and the sushi chef barely made eye contact. I told him I was not from around here, but I like everything, all fish, raw or not, and spice levels. He nodded his head. I asked him what he would have if he was going to sit down and make himself something and he said«oh!» and laughed and went to absent mindedly messing with a bowl of sushi rice. OK. I am on my own I guess. So I picked a roll with hamachi(hard to mess up) and indeed, it was edible. I had asked for extra masago and it came with a pinch. OK, language barrier. I get it… no expectations there. Then I ordered sashimi. How can any japanese restaurant, run by a japanese family, ruin sashimi? Easily. I hear the younger man speaking with the older gentlemen, and the only word I recognized was«tako»(octopus, which I had requested). The younger man takes a hunk over the microwave and… wait for it… nukes the octopus. I ask the older gentleman«Is he microwaving the Tako??!» His response«Yes! For better flavor!» wtf. I had also requested Ika(squid) a favorite of mine for the sharp and firm texture. This Ika had a texture closer to the interior of a grape or a super thick pudding. So I left them with a plate full of sashimi and they never even asked why. To finalize it all, I get the bill marked with their«all you can eat special for myself and my 4 year old daughter(each seperate). My daughter who ordered ONE order(2 slices) of salmon nigri and a small iced tea was charged $ 11 and I was charged $ 22. I pointed out that was all wrong and I wanted it to be charged per item and it went down to $ 30… so I call shennanigans on that. In the end, I wish I had stayed in my hotel and order room service. Or a pizza. Or fast food.

A favorite of mine! I always order the Salmon sashimi because it’s super fresh! Owen does a great job of preparing my sushi along with the other staff members– they are awesome! Enjoy.

Go here. It’s legit. Not sure why earlier ratings are lower, but I also don’t care. Seriously, thus sushi is ultimate takedown 1995.

Service can be very slow(they need to work on that) but as long as you know it going into it the sushi is great and the staff are very friendly

I work in the store for 3 months, the food is useful monosodium glutamate, now do all you can eat poorly with food is very cheap, sometimes the fish there for a long time, a little bad also don’t throw away, continue to give the guests to eat,. And I said can’t do that, he is very unhappy, I just want to tell you the truth, I hope you don’t come here to eat 。The kitchen health is dirty, sushibar flies a lot

Nice restaurant. They serve Hibatchi meals without the Hibatchi tables and annoying people who sit at them. Lol. Seems I always end up at a table with people who drive us crazy! That recently happened in Punta Cana. This place is nice and the service is good. I’ve been coming here for a couple of years. The food is very good.

So disappointing… Been coming here for a couple years and cannot believe how it’s going downhill. It seems to coincide with them offering an all you can eat menu. The wait staff was rude, the sushi came out with no wasabi or fresh ginger. The beer was warm. My companion ordered from the all you can eat menu and was made to wait forever between rolls. Very awkward and a total disappointment. I have been a regular customer but no more. We won’t be going back ever again.

So sad. Over the past 2 years, we’ve noticed a marked decline in this place, especially since the«all you can eat» menu system was implemented. Sadly, today was just a very bad experience overall. The waitstaff made us feel very unwelcome… or at the very least that they were ambivalent to having customers come into an empty restaurant. The waitress didn’t say a word to us, and looked genuinely unhappy to be serving our table. We were never offered water, and when dishes came they were almost thrown down on the table. This place used to be a favorite spot when it first opened. Service was prompt, polite, we were treated nicely, and the quality of fish was above average. I still remember our first time coming, we were sat at the traditional tables(with pillows), offered appetizers on the house, and had an overall great time. Unfortunately the fish has become rather average/below average in quality, and the service has taken a dive. Kawasaki is *very* lucky not to have any competition in the area… they pretty much have the sushi monopoly. We won’t be back, however.

Still love their fish! However… Last time we went, which was last night… They informed our table of four we could only place two orders. Guess it’s no longer all you can eat?! I was feeling indecisive and asked if I could place an order as a third order… And they hesitated but told me ok. I think they have great food… But something isn’t right with advertising all you can eat but limiting what you can order. Hope this can get fixed! Anyone else have this problem?!?

The food here was GREAT. The prices were good, and the sushi was fresh, delicious and the presentation was much better than what I expected. Two stars were lost on the service. When we arrived, we were one of three parties in the restaurant. We asked the waitress for more time to look at the menu before we ordered, and she stood at our table staring at us. We again asked her if we could have more time to look, and she said«order some now, some after». My boyfriend and I ordered from the«All You Can Eat» menu, and were really excited about our choices. After we had eaten the soup and three sushi rolls we had ordered(and split between the two of us) we were ready to take another look at the menu. Instead, the waitress came over immediately with the check and ushered us out. It was two hours before the restaurant was closing, so I see no reason to get us out the door so forcibly. Not only that, we weren’t able to take a good look at the menu because the waitress hovered over the table and stared at us until we ordered. Food was amazing, don’t know if I’d go back because of the service.

I just moved to CT from CA a few months ago and have been craving good sushi since I got here. I enjoyed Nori Maki in Washington Depot quite a lot, but the prices were far too high far me. So when I saw that KawaSaki was doing an all you can eat special, my fiancé and I were fairly excited to give it a chance and snagged two seats at the sushi bar. It was clean and fairly busy for a late night on a week day. The menu didn’t look 100% traditional and my fiancé noted that the staff all seemed to be speaking Chinese, but the food was fresh, fast to come out, and flavorful without being overly Americanized or drowned in sauce. But there are also a few of those kinds of rolls available on the menu, if you’re into that. The food I tried from the kitchen was good but just okay; the sushi itself was excellent. It was fresh and the all-you-can eat was a great deal, with everything made fresh to order. The chefs were extremely polite and helpful, but also incredibly quiet to the point of being hard to hear. I’d recommend the salmon sashimi, spider roll, Alaska roll, seaweed salad, and KawaSaki roll. I haven’t had mid-price sushi this good since I left the Bay Area! Affordable sake too.

Really enjoying the new all you can eat menu. Food is amazing… For those who love sushi and for those who don’t… I am of the latter, but this is still some of the best food I have had in Litchfield! There is something for everyone on this menu! My only critique is that service is a bit slow for water and soda refills.

Being in Litchfield county and wanting something other than Italian is a limiting challenge I agree. I have had the take out a few times, never actually eaten there. I must say they do the basics well. When I have strayed I didn’t really love it but I knew better. Sweet potato rolls tempura whitefish and Fire Island all good. They were extremely accommodating when my guest who has special request wanted a customized roll. That is why I bumped into 4 instead of stars. excellent service, attentiveness, and desire to please… traits often missing in many establishments.

Decent sushi. I ordered the sushi dinner which came with 9 pieces of nigiri sushi of assorted fish and 6 tuna sushi rolls. A choice of salad or soup; I chose the salad. It was a Sunday night and there were 3 servers on the floor and I was the only customer, so I got great service. The presentation of the sushi was beautiful; I posted a pic. It was more than enough for one person. My only negative comment is that I think the one cherry tomato in my salad was going bad. No natto on the menu so I don’t think that the owners /chefs/staff are actually Japanese. So continues my search for a real-Japanese restaurant. One cool thing I noticed is that they have little private table areas for groups much like in Japan.

Everytime we come it is a great experience! The food is consistently very good. Everything is fresh, well-prepared, and well-presented. Their daily specials are also excellent. The service is very good. THe atmosphere is basic, simple, and quiet.

We have been here 7 times in the last 24 months, and if my budget allowed I would go much more often. The staff is great, having that perfect balance of being attentive but also not spoiling your conversation with needless interruptions. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every dish I have ordered here. I am still amazed at the presentation of even the smallest items. It shows that the people in the kitchen have a sense of pride in their creations. There is a full bar set off from the main dining area. There are also two areas where you can dine in a traditional Japanese way although we have yet to be so bold as to try them. If you’re in the Litchfield area and are thinking Japanese food, I think this establishment will really surprise you. My only complaint would be the volume of their telephone ringer — too loud. Ruins the ambiance, spoils the experience, and drags you back to the reality that you’re in a business designed to make money. In between rings you can totally focus on your dining partner(s), food, and get lost in the experience. The staff, lighting, and overall setting allow this. Still worthy of 5 stars, but this annoyance keeps it from being superb.
