Just too bad the service is not good here and if you want to do anything like change an order… add Tomatoes takeaway onions or anything like that, they have a real problem with adjusting their menu in anyway Too bad, this is close to my house it’s a nice atmosphere I would love it if this place had the same service and quality, as Jimmy’s Egg they know how to do it right at Jimmy’s Egg.

A late breakfast of Veggie Eggs Benedict and a Crab cake Eggs Benedict was a fine start to a chilly and rainy Lincoln Sunday. The food was nicely presented, the eggs were poached perfectly and my friend’s crab cake meal was delicious. My veggie meal was equally delicious with generous tomatoes, spinach, and a very nice Hollandaise sauce covered both plates, without being overwhelming. Excellent value for money and as this was first my visit to this breakfast chain, it won’t be my last.

Very nice breakfast spot. I had the cinnamon swirl French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Hazelnut coffee was very good and they give you an entire pot. The food was great, service was fine, prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend this place for anyone who appreciates a good breakfast. They even gave me a coffee to go!

Don’t count on getting their food delivered to you without the delivery missing at least one thing. We’ve ordered from many restaurants around Lincoln and have never had such horrible experiences as we’ve had with The Egg and I. Today we’re missing whole meals and halfs of others. Along with the fact that every ones food who did get their order right, or even at all, tasted disgusting. Disappointed over and over again. I’ve worked in many restaurants and I know how hard it can be, but really? Get it together. Also, how do you burn an omelet when you’re a breakfast food restaurant? And then send the omelet out to be eaten by your customer.

The main attraction for me: free coffee(their college promotion). The food is good, in general. Over the 30 or so visits I made to this place, they only messed up once, overcooked the tortilla in the Santa Fee, and it was still edible.

Hit & miss on the food: I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, which was excellent.(It’s a limited time item — definitely worth a try.) My sister-in-law had a sandwich with a slice of avocado that had turned mostly grey. The waitress said that all of their avocado slices looked like that.(I don’t know much about avocados, but I do know they shouldn’t be grey!) She declined a replacement sandwich, instead choosing to pick it off & eat around it. She did receive a discount on her meal because of this — a whopping 20 cents off.(No joke.) The service on this particular visit was substandard. I have been here a few times so I know to expect better. We had a larger group(7 adults & one child) and we arrived at different times, but we didn’t get any attention from the wait stsff until 5 – 10 minutes after the last person showed up. The table next to us(9 or 10 people) came in after us, ordered after us, and got their food before us. Then when the food arrived, the 2-year-old was served last.(Thankfully she wasn’t fussy at the time.) All of this was addressed with the girl at the register.(She gave us a deeper discount.) Egg & I staff, if you’re reading this, you need to get your act together. The food is worth coming back for, but the service had better get a whole lot better or my next visit will be my last.

I wanted to try The Egg and I last time I was in Lincoln, but alas never made it. This time it was my first stop. I was not disappointed. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and it did not disappoint. Delicious meal and the price was under $ 9.00. One of my dining guests ordered an iced tea and got a carafe along with it so that he could pour his own refills. Later in the meal I got my own carafe too so I didn’t have to wait for another glass to be brought to me. The Egg and I definitely did not disappoint and I would recommend it for those looking for a cozy brunch place in Lincoln.

I would have given them more stars because the food was pretty good. I got the chicken cordon blu skillet. What the bad was about the place was the service. The lack luster host who looked annoyed doing his job to our waitress who came to take our order then came by to deliver our order then nothing after that. Not once did she come back to check on how our food was or to refill our water. Can we say NOTIP. Will I come back, that would be a maybe.

Great little mom and pop place locally owned… I had the«Egg-cellent» omelette and it was GREAT! It tastes way better than it looks. Great service. Great food. Great price. Win/win

I went to Unilocal to get recommendations for breakfast and choose Egg & I over ‘Cup and something’(expensive and too vegan-like, although I appreciate their home-grown purchases). Overall, it was just OK. On graduation Saturday, there was a slight wait. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. However, please wear gloves or something when you have a visible rash on both hands(that’s why I didn’t mention her name). I ordered the build your own omelet which came with breakfast potatoes and fruit(or bread). The omelet was just ok; most places serve a 3-egg, theirs was two. The potatoes were great, just too few. It appeared they measured exactly 4 oz or so. Wifey loved her egg white scramble with grits on side. It was very good, but for $ 9 portion size was small. Grits she says we’re good — I don’t mess w/em. Daughter had a bacon burger that she said was good. I saw the waitress bring it, but when I looked up it was practically all eaten. Teenagers. Other daughter had a scramble w/slice of ham. It looked very appetizing and the ham was a nice slice. Again, small portion. Overall place was ok. Bonus for us was a Lamar’s Donut shop in same strip mall! We’re from KC where it originated, so we had a nice surprise appetizers and dessert.

On our way out of Lincoln we had time for one last meal, and chose to go to The Egg and I for breakfast. The people of Lincoln are extremely nice and the same was true of our server. He advised that the apple pancake was his favorite and that was indeed a good choice — a large whole wheat pancake with granola in it for a little crunch, yummy cinnamon butter on top, some sliced apple baked right in. My DH and I usually order one sweet and one savory breakfast and share them both. This was a perfect sweet choice. For the savory side, I chose a «build your own omelette» with avocado, chorizo and cheddar-jack cheese. The cheese was a little spare, but the sausage was perfectly spicy, and I love avocado on or in anything. Alongside, there were«ranch potatoes» — these were a little dull, some cubed fried potatoes that sorta looked like cafeteria fare. But the sourdough toast was perfect — hot, fresh, crispy, tangy, and it came already buttered which I appreciate. The coffee was okay — not great, but he did leave the pot on the table, and that’s always convenient. In all it was a very nice farewell meal to a super-gracious city. I hope to return both to Lincoln and to the Egg and I

Contacted them and was able to order some hot sauce to have sent to me in Michigan! Mark Agnew(Vice President of Operations) is incredible. Best customer service I have ever experienced hands down.

Waited 5 min. No water, no acknowledgement of our existence. Decided to wait and see how long it might take to be waited on. Finally, at 12 min. & counting, we gave up! They were amply staffed, so that was not the problem. The staff was busy wandering around empty handed.

I am going to sound like an old man but my absolute favorite dish at The Egg and I are the Apple Cinnamon Granola pancakes are ANYTHING but bland and boring. They have a nice crunch from the granola and the perfect amount of sweetness from the cinnamon in the fresh, homemade pancakes that compliment well with the maple syrup. The Egg and I is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Lincoln. I am always seated right away and taken care of very promptly. Their orange juice is fresh and your food does not take too long to be served. If you are not a fan of pancakes, their Eggs Benedict(and derivations of it, such as the Crab Cake Benedict), omelets, and skillets are also great options. I have yet to have a dish at the Egg and I that I have not enjoyed. Also, their ranch potatoes on the side are fantastic!

Great breakfast experience at the Egg and I. Went with a large group and we all ordered different meals because the menu had too many yummy things to choose from. All of us left full and very happy. Would recommend the breakfast burrito and the chicken hash.

Solid breakfast diner-type place. The food has that«greasy spoon» feel although the restaurant is clean and professional. They seem to do a good job catering to the college crowd as well as families.

Excellent food and reasonably priced. Only suggestion would be to have the waitresses take the check instead of the cashier at the front.

A pretty nice diner, kinda like an IHOP or Waffle House. I like that it’s just a short walk from my UNL dorm, so I’ll probably be going here more often to add to my review. I stopped in here with a friend of mine this past weekend for some breakfast. They could probably use more options on their breakfast menu, but I wasn’t too concerned. I ordered some coffee and the raising french toast, which was absolutely delicious. The plate came with the usual diner sides of eggs and bacon or sausage. I felt like the prices were a little on the steep side, especially for the amount of food I got. Don’t get me wrong, the food was great, but the portions could have been a little bigger for the price, which I believe came out to 11 bucks, plus tip. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She came by several times to make sure we were enjoying the meal. I’ve always been a fan of these kind of diners and so I’m very glad that they’ve added one very close to campus.

Even though it’s a chain, I’m happy to find a sit down, open daily, breakfast eatery in Lincoln, Nebraska. I’m a huge fan of breakfast so kudos to the Egg and I for opening two of their franchises in this market. I’m happy to report that the coffee here is palatable. It’s decent, not excellent, but certainly drinkable. The first visit, there had been an error in making the coffee. They hadn’t rinsed the filter basket so my regular drip had a faint taste of hazelnut — blech! The problem was quickly remedied by a fresh pot about five minutes later. Yay! I’ve ordered a few things: eggs benedict, which I won’t order again because the hollandaise sauce tasted too commercially prepared for my liking(knorr? maybe). I’ve also ordered the pancakes, which are not overly thick and very tasty. Their turkey sausage is also quite tasty. My favorite breakfast is ordered«off menu» Yay! Someone will let me order something that is not on the menu without the slightest bit of hassle. I’ve settled into this routine and I like it: ranch potatoes without sour cream, topped with two poached eggs. Thankfully, these people know how to poach an egg. Never overly runny and never, ever, ever has it been over done. Good on you! We’ve had only helpful service at the Egg and I on 17th and Q Streets. Alex is my favorite server. He’s friendly, but not overly friendly and he is very attentive. He knows when to drift over to check on things and is never intrusive — sign of a good server :) I wish it weren’t a chain because I prefer local, but when no one local is poaching the eggs, it’s the Egg and I for me.
