Sher-E-Punjab is closed and a new Indian place is opening up there offering«curry in a hurry.» Haven’t tried it yet as they were not open a couple weeks ago.

Food is good but portions are small. At the Oven you always have food to take home. The portions are so small you barely have enough to eat. I don’t know why someone said it is cheaper than the oven because it is not. Basically same price but smaller portions.

This food was exactly what I needed. The service was great and the food was top notch! I will visit here every time I am in town!

The food here is very, very good and incredibly filling. It’s like a cheaper version of The Oven. The naan and mulligatawny are superb. I wish the service and atmosphere were a little better, but all in all, I always enjoy my experience.

I have a special place in my heart for Sher-E-Punjab and it has nothing to do with the people. And not really with the food. This is the place where I had my first Indian food experience with a couple of girlfriends that dragged me from work. After a few bites here and there, I was hooked. This also happened to be the place my now husband and I went on for our first date and this is my go-to Indian place when in Lincoln. I’ve never gone to the Oven but I’ve heard it’s pricey and the reviews aren’t that great and yeah, this is in a strip mall but why mess with good when it doesn’t need messing with. Since I’m most of the time trying to watch my calories, I usually get the half tandoori chicken. Yum! I love the naan, love the mulligatawny, oh and the rice, love that rice. I also love the light green dipping sauce that for the life of me I can’t remember the name of and I’ve had a few of the other dishes. The food is seriously great. The service, eh. They aren’t rude, really, and most of the time the waitresses are helpful when you ask about something. But I wouldn’t say they go out of their way to make it special. I also hate the setup. When I go for lunch, the sun is usually blasting into my eyes. But yeah, I love the food and the memories and the decent prices.

We have been enjoying Sher-E-Punjab food since they opened in Fall 2002. This business works hard to earn new customers every day and satisfy foodies, which is why they deserve five stars. First of all, Lincoln enjoys an embarrassment of riches for Indian cuisine. There are three independently owned Indian restaurants that would hold their own in any American city. Try finding that anywhere within a day’s drive of Lincoln, Nebraska. We have been eating Sher-E-Punjab once a month for twelve years. I can report incredible quality and consistency in their recipes, preparation, ingredients, friendliness and professionalism. The space is also designed with an open kitchen so diners can see entrees being prepared. Our favorites are: Lamb Punjab and Chicken Tikka Masala. All Indian restaurants seem to feature Lamb Vindaloo, but their Lamb Punjab is not a heat crusher, rather is accessible to any diner chasing great flavors, and still rates spicy for midwesterners. Chicken Tikka Masala is also very good. The samosas and Naan are also favorites. Overall, locals eat at The Oven for ‘date night’, and Sher-E-Punjab for great food.

I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of Indian cuisine, and I still liked this place. My only gripe is that they are on the expensive side, especially for the amount of food you get. Which isn’t a tiny amount, but just barely filling. It’s really good though. I got some lamb dish, don’t remember which it was, but it was delicious, came with rice and potatoes. I also ordered a Kingfisher beer, and they brought out this big-ass bottle, which is always nice. The staff were very friendly as well.

The food was good; the price wasn’t. They serve one of the best indian dishes, but the price was above the expected.

Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Not too many other diners, but school was out so I imagine that had something to do with it. Nice that there’s a parking lot associated with the strip center location. Service was speedy and no-nonsense(good or bad, depending on the amount of nonsense you’re in the mood for). Based on my only other Lincoln Indian restaurant experience, I had to order the chicken tikka naan. That way I could have a good sampling of items by which to judge. The short version of my meal is that it was more than ample in portion, and while all items were good the best was the naan and the weak point was the rice. Starting with the mulligatawny, it was a little thinner than I’d prefer but the flavors were right on. Spicy and pungent with bits of cilantro and rice, just as I like. Squeeze of lemon and good to go! The lunch plate came with chicken on a rather large bed of rice, some nice green lettuce with dressing and four slices of buttery hot naan. The chicken and naan were clearly the stars of the show(as they should be, in my opinion). Naan was thin and chewy with a great texture and flavor. Chicken was moist and delicious in its own right. The rice was a little unfortunate… seemed to be standard white short grain rice. Still it was cooked well, but didn’t have enough aroma on its own.(My favorite Indian restaurants have rice so delicious that you can eat it plain and salivate at just the smell of it.) Salad was just salad. Good, but relatively unremarkable beyond that. All in all, a good meal at a reasonable price($ 10) with some nice leftovers for later.
