I’ve always liked this restaurant and usually the food is very good. However, when we went last time the shrimp tasted like in had been soaking in bleach water which no amount of sauce could take away. Hopefully, they will change this.

Okay so I get the same darn thing every time we go to a Japanese Steakhouse. I of course start with the onion soup and salad. Huge surprise? Then of course I get the teriyaki chicken. The food here is just as good as the best anywhere else. But let’s be honest, we come for the comedy. Lately every single Japanese Steakhouse around town has been bland with the comedy. The teppanyaki chefs just aren’t that funny. Now enter Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Leesburg Virginia. I swear to goodness this guy had me in tears. We were all in tears. Funny tears. Laughing our butts off. Of course we were there for a birthday, so thank you Kobe for making our birthday so much fun. We will be back.

No need to go back to Benihana. From the soup to the entrée, everything was delicious. Portion size was perfect.

So let me start off by saying that I am from Orlando Fl where Kobe steakhouses are a great experience, clean, and great service. This Kobe location however was everything but. We arrived to the restaurant and it took 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us, and when they did they treated us as if we were bothering them. Once we were seated we were greeted by the waiter with a very unwelcome hello. The salad was warm and the soup tasted like chicken broth. I was really craving the Kobe noodles which was the whole reason we came here, and what I got was nothing close to what I have had in the past. They use spaghetti noodles not linguini and there was a sweet sauce on them that I did not recall being there at other locations. For my entrée I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice. The rice and vegetables were very overcooked and saturated with butter and liquid that it was more like mush. The Yum Yum sauce(the highlight to any hibachi meal) was watered down and flavorless. When my chicken was served it was so dry and overcooked that I couldn’t even eat it. When the chef asked how everything was I apologized and said that the chicken was dry and he said that happens sometimes with chicken… Really??? When we were presented with the check I told the waiter that I didn’t want to pay for my meal, he said he would go talk to the manager. They took the charge off my meal except for the rice(which is fine because that all I really ate). However, the manager never came to the table to apologize or even acknowledge us. Overall this was just a horrible experience and honestly the corporate headquarters should really consider reviewing this location because this was truly a disappointment and far from the traditional Kobe experience I have had in the past.

I’ve been here many times and food is always good and consistent. Chefs are awesome and do a great job of keeping hibachi clean. Been going here for 15 – 20 years though and just a tweak in the hibachi program would be good but really can’t beat good quality.

Our favorite Japanese restaurant!!! Make sure you order vegetable tempura as an appetizer! I wish they would make a sweet potato sushi roll! We are regulars here because it’s so yummy!

Husband and I went to Kobe for the first time last night. We usually go to Benihana in Dulles but thought we’d give a local business a try. So glad we did. We were seated immediately and received our drinks promptly(unlike Benihana which can take time) We were seated with another family and after all of our orders were taken, the cook came out. He came out pretty fast(not like Benihana) The food was very good. One thing my husband liked is that you can order double or even triple fried rice. They also serve you noodles along with the fried rice and veggies. All in all, a great local place, good food, fast service. We will definitely go to again.

Our Tippanyaki chef, was very entertaining and prepared an excellent meal for our party of nine. The steaks, shrimp, and scallops were perfectly prepared.

This was mediocre hibachi at best! The portions were sad for the price, the rice was undercooked, the ginger dressing for the salad was simply okay and the sushi was a step up from store bought maki rolls.

First time eating here. Had the steak & chicken which I thought was great. Had Bubba as our chef and he was really good at what he does. Will definitely come here again & would recommend it to anyone.

man, I tell you what, this place just doesn’t disappoint. They’re always solid on the hibachi grill, the ginger salad dressing is awesome, and their sushi is the best in Loudoun County, hands down. We have a 1 year old so it’s been a while since we’ve been down there… But we decided to call in an order of sushi tonight for pickup, since we got the little one in bed early, and it was the best meal I’ve had in weeks. The fish is just so fresh and tender, the rice is sticky and delicious, and the sauces finish it all off. Highly recommend!

I had a REALLY bad experience here last night. I just read some other reviews, and I’ve gathered that our teppanyaki chef was Bubba, the big guy with the camo hat. Maybe he was having a bad night, but he seemed totally unenthusiastic and jaded the whole time he was in front of us. Kept looking at the clock and the door. At one point, he made fun of me and my boyfriend because we met online. Not even in a funny way, just plain insulting, and I could tell it made the other people at our table feel awkward too. He also went on for some time about different varieties of spiders — while we were eating!!! — and about how he disagrees with gay marriage. Like, seriously, dude. It’s your job to make people like you for 30 minutes, and you basically did everything you could to make us dislike you instead. I don’t know why everyone on Unilocal seems to love him; I’m never coming back here because of his attitude. –The chairs were super janky and wobbly. –Something is up with the ginger ale. Not enough carbonation, strange flavor. –My Shirley Temple was 90% grenadine, and no cherry. :( –Hibachi Steak had a cheap, livery texture. The fried rice was great though. –What we got was not miso soup, but chicken broth. –The salad dressing was way too peanutty and they put so much in the bowl that the lettuce at the bottom was drowning in it. Gross. Just wow. I’ll stick with Benihana from now on.

This was perhaps one of the worst Japanese(style) restaurant I have ever been to and was a complete waste of money. When you first enter Kobe’s it has the feel of a very cheap Asian buffet, and it lives up to it’s appearance. There were so many things wrong with Kobe I decided to list them; 1. The table that we were seated at had at least 5 – 7 ripped and damaged chairs, I had to search for a chair that wasn’t about to collapse. 2. The cooking table itself was dirty and oil encrusted along the edges(I guess the super dark lighting is suppose to conceal the lack of consistent cleaning).
3. We ordered beer(Sapporo) and were given the largest size(without us asking) already opened so when we explained these were too large, we were told«so sorry, too late to take back». 1. I ordered the steak and scallops with sushi to start. The steak was the smallest/ thinnest steak I have ever seen in my life, we have a four year old boy and this would be the portion size we would give him for dinner. The scallops were small and not fresh or tasty at all. 2. Sushi was super small portion sizes with very very small portion of sushi rice(I believe in an effort to make their seafood portion seem bigger. 3. **Rip-off alert** I get the bill for $ 105(for two people, my Wife had the salmon which was $ 20) and noticed there was a charge for $ 5 for fried rice, I mention to the waiter that we did not order fried rice(although everyone at the table received fried rice), he promptly showed me the menu where it stated «Kobe special rice»(it was $ 3.50 each on menu not the $ 2.50 each we were charged). I asked(nicely) how can we be charged for something we did not order and in the fact the only people authorized to take a customer’s order is the waiter and we did not order rice from the waiter. His response was«So sorry for that, now pay please». I was still charged and that was that! If you want a clean, professional, and ethical place to eat, Kobe is not the place.

I came here for the first time in maybe 6 years last week. What I remembered about this place is how animated the chefs are, and it’s still true. They’re really personal at every table, and they don’t slack or come off as distant at all. I’ve gone to a lot of Japanese steakhouses where the chef will come up, do the mandatory volcano, and walk away quietly — but not here! We were engaged and laughing at our chef’s jokes the whole time and had a lot of fun. The food is good as well, which is always a necessary plus. Steak and scallops /shrimp are the way to go. The sushi is also fine.

We haven’t been here in the 3 ½ years since my last review, but decided to give it another go last night. The fried rice is still just rice and egg, no veggies, which for $ 2.50 more is still expensive and disappointing. But, I thought we had a much better experience overall. I tried the spicy tuna rolls which were very fresh tasting and actually spicy. The service was much better, everyone was friendly and accommodating. Loved our chef and the hibachi(filet and chicken) was delicious with generous portions. I still think I prefer Otani in Sterling but would definitely come back to Kobe based on last night’s experience.
