As residents of Lakewood, we wanted to support a local restaurant and dine somewhere we’ve never been. I checked out the Unilocal reviews and wanted to give La Cave a try. Dinner was spectacular. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The scallops were spiced to perfection a spice we’ve never tasted and thoroughly enjoyed. Hats off to a very pleasurable meal. Thank you.

For a foodie restaurant in Lakewood — which is a strange statement in itself — this place really delivers. Portions are large and filling, and splendidly cooked. I had the steak and was full almost five bites in, but delighted to take it home. Tasted just as good there. My boyfriend had the duck and cleaned his plate. For dessert we had several choices. I enjoyed the mango sorbet which was light and sweet. My dad loved the chocolate cake. We even enjoyed a glass of moscato with the owner afterwards. The fact that the restaurant is frequently open on holidays is in itself a big deal and deserves positive recognition. A great addition to the area.

Breakfast: Crab cake egg’s benedict is an absolutely amazing idea that should be served more often. Lunch: It shouldn’t be difficult to get a burger right Somehow, La Cave fell short on both account. I like what the menu offers, but the food was just not prepared with the details that makes the dish. Both eggs in my benedict were overcooked and the hollandaise sauce was thick like a pudding. This was unfortunate since I found the combination of crab cake and benedict to be quite good. For lunch, I had ordered a burger. Again, overcooked and very uninspiringly prepared. Given the higher tier that it prices and sets itself up as, I would’ve expected more. The restaurant itself is pleasant. One more surprising tidbit — Just like me and my companions, the staff all seem to pronounce the restaurant’s name differently.

Cool staff. Pretty decent food. Been at this hotel for about a week now, and I have to say that as far as hotel restaurants go, this one is above average. But like most hotel restaurants, a little over priced — but that’s why God invented expense accounts, I guess.

I haven’t been here since I worked in the kitchen working for my chef certificate. It has really changed and for the better! Before it was just a hotel restaurant and now it’s a destination. Our waiter and staff have been very prompt and helpful with going through the the menu and ordering. We started with the charcuterie board and it is scrumptious! We decided to forego salads because of the cheese board and went straight to our entrees. When my mom says that something is delicious these days and eats most of the food on her plate I am elated! They both really enjoyed their filets that were accompanied with a gratin potatoes and asparagus. I had the duck and it was perfect. I am very picky with duck so was extremely delighted with my meal! On the down side; it is unfortunate that this kitchen can’t think outside of the chocolate box. Being allergic to chocolate always limits my dessert choices and when I run into a chef that can think outside the chocolate box and offer a wider variety of desserts I definitely make it a point to return to their restaurant. As it is because of this and the unfortunate female lounge singer it will make me think twice on this place.

Spent a lovely night at La Cave last night for the Latin Lover’s Wine Dinner. First time we have been to this restaurant and we’ll definitely be back. Lovely view of downtown – great place to watch the full moon rise. Very good deal – $ 65 for 5 courses with wine pairings. Met some lovely people including our fellow diners, the chef, the sommelier for the night and the owner, Yousef. The wines were wonderful and the food delicious, my favorites being the tiradito of scallops, the huachinango de Vera Cruz(red snapper) and the Pampas Churrasco Steak. Looking forward to making the monthly wine dinners a regular treat. Highly recommended.

La Cave is inside the Sheraton. Walk in past the stairs a bit to your right. There’s nothing special as far aesthetics is concerned. Like everything in this hotel it’s drab and dreary. I sound like a broken record but you need to look pleasing to the eye if you’re a hotel. More so if you’re an SPG property. I’ve only done breakfast here but I’m very pleased with La Cave. What they lack in the aesthetic department they make up for it in their breakfast spread. Fruits of different kinds. They were all fresh. Sausage, eggs, bacon, pancake and very tasty country potatoes. Orange juice and cranberry juice. The staff are great. Always attentive and very thoughtful. Stark contrast to the front desk staff at the hotel.

I really enjoy their service and healthy menu options. Their portions are either large or just enough and never too small. I eat there every Thursday and have really enjoyed my experience.

My sister and I went here last night for our monthly«Sister Date Night.» This place is a gem! It’s too bad there weren’t that many people there. I don’t think enough people realize how great it is. Our waitress(Elizabet) was friendly, informative and responsive without feeling like we were being hovered over. She made a great wine selection for my sister. We started with the mussels(another delicious recommendation). My sister had the duck breast and I had the scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly and was seasoned quite well. We had to cap the night off with dessert(tiramisu and chocolate torte). What a great night! By the way, they gave us a window view. A storm had just come through so we had a view of the storms over Denver and a rainbow to cap it off. I will definitely go back. By the way, they have monthly wine/dinner pairing. I want to do that! I recommend it to others. What a great way to experience La Cave.

Tried La Cave last night on a whim. We live on the west-side and went out with some of our best friends. Hard to believe that this little gem is right in our neighborhood. The restaurant is very nicely updated and we had nice views of the Denver skyline from our table. Appetizing menu, extensive wine list — and an empty dining room. We were a little concerned but all that was alleviated by the excellent service and ultimately the food. Got out with dinner and drinks for about $ 60/head which is great for fine dining. Would agree with others that some of the vegetable sides were just too salty, but the entrees were all excellent. Thanks to Youssef and his staff for making ours a wonderful date night!

Staying here at the Sheraton for six nights. The food has been excellent but the deep-voiced side-burns bartender is a bigoted man. I suggest not letting him hear your conversation about politics, religion, or anything that he might disagree with. Despite my efforts to figure out his obvious hatred for me, he simply showed me the door. I am boggled by this. My colleagues from the conference that we are attending were also shocked by this behavior. None of us will be back. The food was great. Fantastic actually. It is a shame that they hire bigoted fools. Our next four nights will be spent elsewhere. Update: Nice try Youssef. None of your other staff had a problem, during five meals. And there is a significant difference between choosing to be offended by a conversation you are eavesdropping on, and being insulted. I never made an insult. If that is what your bar tender is claiming then he his not honest. He simply did not agree with what he was eavesdropping on and took offense. That is very unprofessional, and NOT an insult. He hates atheists apparently. If it was anything other than that, he would not tell me, as I asked him several times why he showed so much hatred toward me. Regardless, there are others that reviewed here, and they also had problems with your tender. And I beat you to the punch that I will not be back. Kudos to the rest of your staff, and especially the folks cooking up the grub. They are great. Good bye.

Nice place had dessert and keiko(?) coffee after dinner one night. The server asked for our room number and almost couldn’t believe we were actually locals from down the street, lol. I wish they had an expresso machine to match the upscale dinner menu and cognac trophy wall on the bar back. Dessert was good, we had the chocolate torte, coffee was probably folgers.

We started with appetizers, the mussels were quite delicious, crab cakes were the best I’ve had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection, the staff and service were very nice and friendly, La Cave has a fantastic wine list, very unexpected, not your regular hotel Restaurant, we are definitely going back there.

La cave is located within the Sheraton hotel I believe right off of 6th and Union. Fantastic wine selection of not a little overwhelming to non wine aficionados. The staff is pleasant and service was nice. I found the décor to be rather contradictory but the food was nice. I ordered the crab cakes as an app and was pleasantly surprised. Split the la cave salad which was fantastic. Had the scallops and the lady had the filet. I think next time I will choose that. The scallops were smaller than I would’ve liked. But all in all, the event was nice!

I made a reservation prior to going to the restaurant for their Christmas goose special. Wanting more information about the goose special, I called ahead. The lady who answered described the special as a piece of goose, some vegetables, and some of their sides. Really?! Why not sell me the special, shows how much she knew about the menu, not good. On Christmas Day, we were headed to our reservation, but the weather recently caused the roads to be bad, therefore I called ahead to let them know we would be late, the hostess said it would be fine, and we went on our way. When we finally arrived 30 minutes later, she thanked us for calling ahead and said there was no problem. We were seated and were greeted by our waiter, Mario, who was festive for the holidays with his cute tie, and very nice. We were given time to look at the menu, but weren’t told about the goose special, like the table near us. When we asked for the goose, he told us, it was sold out, but he would double check. While he was away, the table near us ordered two goose specials after we had asked about it. We were waiting for quite a while, till Mario came back and confirmed the goose was sold out, saying we were 2 seconds late. I was very disappointed because if you’re asking people to make a reservation, you should be preparing for that amount of people and more! Working earlier today, we cooked for over 1000 tops and still had left overs prepared, so to me, there are no excuses when it comes to reservations made. Poor planning. Anyways, I brushed it off, and while we were about to order, Mario had to leave to deliver a drink. We still had no bread, as well, and this took some time. He finally came back with bread and took our orders, we ordered the calamari for an app and the seared duck breast for our entrees. While waiting, I noticed for the type of bread given(bruschetta, I believe) we had no butter, or better yet some olive oil. My girlfriend tried to eat it without, and almost broke her tooth! Many waiters came around to check on us and none of them noticed everyone wasn’t given anything to accompany their bread. I then asked one if I could get some olive oil with the bread, and he looked like I had reminded him that he had forgotten, and seemed to roll his eyes like we were a bother. Not okay. Next I see everyone get olive oil and balsamic vinegar, even though they had been there for some time. We also received fresh bread, a shame, it was actually not hard, and was nice and warm. Mario came back and told us there was no calamari, now I was really irritated, but kept my cool, and just ordered the crab cakes. We received the crab cakes and the food saved the day, the cakes had fresh crab, I know because I received a couple tiny pieces of shell in mine. The sauce on top had a nice spice. Next we received our duck and presentation was nice. The Brussels sprouts were very well taken care of, they were bright green, nice and crisp, and were seasoned well. The herbed mashed potatoes were a hit off the night! The rosemary was very fragrant without being too overpowering. The duck was cooked perfectly and had a nice crisp skin, which went well with their nicely sweetened cherry gastric. All the flavors went very well together! At the end of the night, the food saved my review from only 3 stars. The service was bad at the beginning for the expense and type of restaurant it was. Bad service always grinds my gears because it can easily be avoided. It did get better after the appetizer was received, though. Ambience was nice and romantic! Great food, but average service.

Pricey for sure, but you know that going into it. I ordered dinner off the regular menu and had a wedge salad and the New York steave«au poivre»(peppercorn sauce). The salad was fine … I thought the dressing was a little light and not all that flavorful, but the blue cheese chunks were great and seemed to be of a higher quality than what you would normally expect. The steak was somewhat thin for a NY cut. I asked for it done medium-rare and it was right-on the money there, but still pretty thin overall. The peppercorn sauce was tremendously overpowering and killed any flavor of the beef coming through. A little sauce might be sufficient … or a sauce with less peppercorns. I like spice, but this preparation was too much. I know the restaurant is going for a certain atmosphere, but it is very, very dark. I had to lean outside of the booth just to try and read the menu. I’m not a super old dude, either. I’m in my 40s and my eyesight is generally ok. I felt like a grannie, though. Also, the bank of booths that I was in was positioned so you saw all the traffic coming/going into the kitchen. I was surprised, too, as how much noise transfer there was from booth to booth. I could hear every word very clearly that was being said in the booth behind me(and often wished they would shut up a bit and eat). It’s probably one of the better dining choices in the immediate area and certainly a good alternative to chain dining.

Who knew that such a cute place with such amazing stuff could be tucked into a hotel lobby? I saw this location in the denver dining guide and thought it sounded like some good wine and lots of little plates! I had no idea it was in the Sheraton, till my GPS brought me there! It is right near the federal center, a good amount of parking. The staff was very friendly and had a hard time picking favorites from the tapas menu, Our choices: Crab cakes: pretty tasty Calamari: tasty, good sauce — chimichuri aoli Olives and almonds: toasted up, even the olives, very nice Curry meatballs: meh, can skip those Cheese plate: delicious fresno pepper jelly, good cheese choices It has an interesting upscale décor, bar was good sized. Definitely many small plates to enjoy, and good tasty, not cheap wine on happy hour!

I had a great evening tonight. I joined an old friend from work and discovered they were having a wine tasting too! I enjoyed 5 Spanish wines for $ 20. I was pleasantly aurora see by the reds. For the caliber of food we enjoyed, I didn’t think it was too pricy. We started with the crab cakes(seriously the best in Denver) and a salad. I had a fillet mignon for my entrée. It was seared to perfection. I didn’t care for the sirrah that it’s paired with on the menu. I’d suggest a merlot with it. Overall, the Pinot Grigio from Oregon with the peach and apricot was our favorite.

What a great surprise! We saw the positive reviews and were drawn by the name, but when we found out it was in the Sheraton, we got nervous. Our reservation was for 6:00 Sunday night so we didn’t expect a huge crowd, but other than a few hotel patrons in the bar, we were freaked out when the dining room was empty. Aside from a typical worn décor of an old Sheraton, they did a great job of classing up the place with fine tableware and fresh flowers on all the tables. We got a window seat that once you look past the parking lot, there’s a great view out East towards downtown. Granted since we were the only ones the service was great, but we could tell it was genuine. Logan was attentive without being obnoxious, and while many staff would be bummed at having hardly and customers, he was very pleasant.(By 7:30 or so, three more tables were sat.) By far the best service though, came from the manager Youssef. He took great care of us and made us feel very welcome. The food was outstanding. A superb meat and cheese appetizer that I dare say would be tough to out do. We had two of the lamb shanks and I was curious how it would be since no customers were around. The meat fell off the bone and was perfect. Also had a filet that was top notch, and while they didn’t have the homemade pasta(that probably due to an anticipated slow night), my scallops were great. We picked up some of their happy hour menus and also discovered they have wine tastings and meals with pairing once a month.(Walking in you see the very impressive wine cellar…) We will definitely be back for happy hours and the special dinners(Youssef says they fill up fast). I anticipate a much different environment during the week with the business crowd and Fed Center employees catching a drink to unwind. Bottom line — I highly recommend this place and encourage you to give it a try and keep this year and a half old establishment humming along. Not a cheap place, but definitely a nice find!
