Wish they allowed dogs off leash. Seems like there is plenty of space for it. There are like 10 soccer fields there, turn one into an off leash dog area.

This is a beautiful park. Great place to walk your dog, picnic, etc. There are baseball fields and soccer fields and nice walking paths. Unfortunately the entire park is ruined by goose poop everywhere. It is all over the paths and the fields. It’s so bad you can’t enjoy yourself because you are too busy trying not to step in it or let your dog roll in it. I’ve been to other parks where there is some goose poop and you deal with it, but this place is completed loaded with it to the point it is just not worth going. It’s too bad because otherwise it’s a great park.

I found this great park in Lakewood this Monday looking for a place to escape from work to eat my lunch, and have been back every day since. It has something for everyone. Plenty of parking, 4 soccer fields, 3 baseball fields with electronic scoreboards and 300 foot outfield fences, public restrooms with running water, a sizable pond with Canada geese, herons(I think) and other waterfowl cavorting about, a water-filled irrigation ditch where I saw a pair of mallards, and tasteful landscaping. There are three pavilions on the east side of the pond that can be reserved for private use. Each pavilion features six good sized metal picnic tables, and two of them have two charcoal grills each. There’s a nice little playground for the wee ones next to the pavilions. Belmar Elementary School is adjacent to the southeast — there’s another playground on that side that I suspect belongs to the school rather than the park. It’s a quiet, peaceful place to spend lunch hour on the weekdays if you work nearby. I see moms pushing strollers, people playing fetch with their dogs, joggers, bicyclists, other folks escaping the work scene to eat their lunch, the grounds crew doing their thing, half the Lakewood PD taking their break in the parking lot. I imagine it gets pretty busy on the weekends during fair weather months, with sports teams filling up the parking lots and fields. Nice spot. Give it a try if you’re nearby and in the mood.

With many Soccer fields, lots of Parking, beautiful lawns for Picnics and huge open spaces, this is what parks are made of! and with the terrific way it is taken care of I gotta give this park all the stars! Wow it is huge
