This place has now gone out of business. Too bad, another victim of the economy! 4÷20÷11 They have a cute sandwich board out front with the menu and after perusing, decided I would sit and have a bite. Since I had the two cockers with me, I sat outside. Service was SLOW with a capital S! There was one other group of people having coffee and talking who left shortly after I sat down, leaving me the ONLY customer!!! so what is their excuse??? When I ordered, the waitress kept saying«salmon skewers» and I had to say«NO, chicken» about three times — not sure why she had such a difficult time but I was afraid I would end up with salmon! The food was good, but if I had been in any other mood, I would have gotten up and left because they are so slow. I ordered an appetizer — the baked cheese & the chicken strips. The baked cheese came out pretty quickly and was very tasty. Served with humus and fresh pita. 30 minutes later, the chicken arrived. While it was only 2 chicken skewers, they were very large pieces of chicken and quite tasty. I could see the waitress standing inside just talking with the cook, while I was waiting to be noticed. I think it was a little pricey for what I ordered, Came to $ 17.00. THe waitress said to me «it’s slow tonight»(after I had been served) I should have said«So is the service!»!!! While it is dog friendly, it certainly isn’t people friendly! The food I ordered was fresh and tasty, but don’t expect very fast service, in fact, be prepared for one of the longest waits EVER! If you aren’t in a hurry, have a book to read, you might enjoy the food. I was SO tempted to get up and leave without paying — don’t think they would have noticed! But, pay I did, and leave a tip I did, after all, I was probably one of the few customers they got that night(9÷14÷10) and poor waitress had kids at home(calling her on the cell phone).

I’m sitting at Café Uropa right now and it’s taking so long I have the time to write a review. First it took 10 minutes for a waiter to not notice us, despite a really bright orange stroller with a sleeping toddler. I had to walk inside and ask for menus. Service is extremely slow — it’s busy but not hectic. No excuse for not getting a coffee refill when asked for. So far the food looks good but I can’t verify as I haven’t received after waiting for over 20 minutes. Oh wait here it comes. Wrong order! We asked for Salmon Eggs Benedict and got regular. Great! Clearly the waitress who took our order can’t spell Salmon. Not sure if I should just get up and leave a $ 5 for 2 coffees or wait for them to fix our order. What a dump! And in La Jolla that’s not acceptable. So we finally received our order. The verdict: meh. Average omelette and over done fries which were by the way supposed to be herbed potatoes. I see this place being gone in a few months.
