Not too bad. Food was good, was fairly fast and no complaints. The only knock I really had on it was that it did not open until 8am. Some of us had to get to work!

Their latte is really good. My husband and I usually have the tamales breakfast with steak and it’s really good. This is a really good place and the workers are nice.

Solid breakfast and lunch spot with quality food + coffee. Have been here a couple times and they do not disappoint. It’s nice to see a more casual, reasonable, «diner» like this in La Jolla.

My favorite no frills breakfast spot in La Jolla. It’s a tiny little café and only a few outdoor seats, but the wait is worth it. My go to dish is of course the Omar Special with extra avocado sauce. I wish I could get the recipe for that stuff– it’s like crack cocaine. Their French toast and pancakes are delicious and you can also find super healthy items on the menu too. They’re similar to some items on the Isabel’s Cantina menu, but Isabel’s does NOT have the Omar special :(. I wish this pace was closer to me, but it’s not a bad place to eat and walk to the cove afterwards. Service is always on par and very attentive.

This place was always crowded on the weekend so I ended up going here for lunch on a weekday which was much quieter. However, the service was still very slow and the waitress seemed by impatient. The restaurant could also use some renovation to improve the appearance The food is amazing. I got the special pancakes and the bf got the french toast. Both had lovely plating and very sweet and delicious. Remember the free coffee with Unilocal check in!

This place is great. It’s my favorite breakfast place when I visit San Diego. They food is pricy but who cares when it’s so darn good. Love the staff. All of them are very polite and attentive. The place gets really really busy but I promise you it’s worth the wait. We usually sit wherever they have seats available– inside or outside. I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu and can tell you they’re all good. I can’t wait to be back and enjoy the food.

Eat Here! The best breakfast in town! Maybe any town? It’s a busy place, small and a bit cozy, yet a great dinning experience. Outstanding service! Food that’s sure to please.

Omar’s special is to die for! Service & food great. Too noisy though. Not inexpensive.

Retro feeling joint in LaJolla. It has kinda of that diner feel, but with it being in LaJolla, you know it will be somewhat upscale. There are no water views to distract you from your dining experience. Here, they have to rely on their food to bring customers back. They do not disappoint. First, you can sit outside or inside. I chose inside since I burn under moonshine. The servers promptly appeared and were most helpful. They offered several suggestions. I went with a coffee and the Omar. They say the Omar is the house specialty. While I was waiting for my meal, I was sipping on a coffee(free with a Unilocal Check In). The coffee was tasty and refilled promptly. I was well-caffeinated by the time The Omar arrived. The Omar was nicely done. The eggs were done well. The pesto sauce was refreshingly good. The brown rice and chicken were a nice touch. Overall, a well-done breakfast indeed. It was most enjoyable. I like this place. Can’t wait to come back to try more!

Our favorite la Jolla breakfast stop. Breakfast quesadilla, breakfast enchiladas, pancakes are all great. Best chilaquiles ever(not always on the menu). Service is friendly, atmosphere is a little loud, but not bad. Love this place

still one of my favorite la jolla places to go bc I LOVE the zen breakfast(that tofu marinade), Omar special, their potatoes(extra crispy)…so yum!!! the food is consistent throughout the years. I have been here over several staff cycles and they all have been super sweet, especially so with regulars. it IS quite small and when it is busy, not the place to come if you’re in a hurry. best spot to catch up with friends esp while waiting for seating and over lunch. coffee not the strongest… just FYI for the coffee lovers out there.

Avoid: Food is bad, service is inconsistent. The French toasts were tasteless — no primary flavor, so supporting flavor. Eating tasteless baked dough is fun fun fun! NOT. Had to get some ‘taste’ via the syrup to make it somewhat enjoyable. The cook here should really drop by at Snooze to learn how great French toasts can be made. Anyway, the Salad was also alright. We wouldn’t go back even if their prices were ½ of their current ones. Life is too short to eat at 2nd grade places.

My absolute favorite brunch place! After 4 years at UCSD exploring the millions of trendy breakfast spots, this takes the cake. No ocean view, no cutesy decorations, and in the words of my 60 y/o father«no ambiance»(I disagree!). You literally cannot go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu, although if you pass on the potatoes you are making the worst life decision! Literally the most beautifully plated and amazingly tasty breakfast dishes. Allll of them! Delicious coffee as well :) the staff is always very friendly and welcoming and they will help with recommendations too! I love the small cozy feel inside, the street café style seating outside, and the fact that you can ACTUALLY get a table here on a weekend morning. The BESTSD brunch you will ever have!

Amazing food and superb service. I can’t speak more highly of this place. I had the blackberry and strawberry pancakes which were a perfect consistancy. Nice and fluffy. My husband had the breakfast burrito and it was just scrumptious. And both dishes were so beautifully presented. They put thought love and time into each dish. The service was on point. The server(I think the owner) came out multiple times to refill our water, coffee and just ask how everything was. And after drinking our coffee he asked if we wanted a cup to go!

We here with the family. I ordered the breakfast tamales with steak. It was very good. Very friendly waitress. She gave good recommendations on the menu. Also got to try the rosemary potatoes. Wonderful! All in all everyone(there were 6 of us) was happy with their food.

There is this struggle that you have in life with decisions and making those decisions. When you make the decision to have breakfast in La Jolla you have to decide between The Cottage and The Coffee Cup Café and you can’t really go wrong. This review isn’t going to help make that decision because both are great. I have given them both 5 star reviews but will say they have two different experiences. The Coffee Cup is great if you don’t want to wait in an insane line but it also provides a very conversational style of service and a great variety of Mexican style breakfast dishes. If you want a breakfast burrito this is the place. I scarfed down with pure pleasure the special they currently had called The Big Breakfast Burrito. Please make sure you get the rosemary potatoes with that or anything you order. Sprinkle a little chalulu and ketchup and BAM. The perfect breakfast. They also have very healthy options as well. I will be back!

A lot of the local breakfast places were closed, so we ended up here. After a short wait, we were seated. The service was great. We checked in for a free coffee, and got coffees and refills for the table. The food was good, and filling, but not so heavy that you feel gross. I got the artichoke scramble which came with marinated artichokes, a huge egg omelet, and rosemary potatoes, which were well cooked. They were crisp on the outside. Yum. My friends enjoyed their food, as well.

There’s always a long line during the weekend so I would always try to go during the weekday when I went to UCSD. Their pancakes are pretty good. Their menu is very close to that of the Mission, so I had a really tough time not comparing the dishes, but I couldn’t and the Mission wins(I’m biased since the Mission will always have my heart). I tried the Omar Special and it wasn’t as good as I imagined it, but that might be because I had high expectations.
