Really good food, really terrible service. Some of the people working there are rude as hell.

Disgusting. They didn’t wash the lettuce. There were bugs and dirt in it. And the mangos they served were not ripe. Questionable food safety practices, at best. Do not eat here unless you’re okay with risking your health.

I ordered the chilaquiles with salsa verde and carne asada. The portion was huge! It came with rice beans and chips. I also had a mango and chile popsicle after and it was awesome! We came at 2:30 and because of that there weren’t many people. There are tons of options and vegetarian options for those interested as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

Porkyland did an amazing job catering our event last month! They arrived right on time and quickly got to working setting up the delicious spread. Not only was the layout perfect, the food was as well! The food looked amazing, and more importantly, tasted amazing too! My guests loved the carnitas and the fajitas con camarones(shrimp and fajita veggies), not to mention the expected accompaniments like the fresh-made guacamole(expected in SoCal, but no less delicious :)), pico de gallo and garnishes. The warm tortillas were perfect for the cool ocean breeze we had going that night, and the fresh chips were great as well. All in all, we got tons of compliments and comments on our choice for the party(not to mention the fact that I loved everything I had), so I definitely would not hesitate to recommend Porkyland or use their services again! Seriously, if you want simple and flavorful Mexican for your event, give them a call.

I showed up on the day they changed their menu. Never been here before, so I ask about the menu items. The cashier didn’t know anything about the new menu, so she pulled someone off the line to get the info. That person didn’t know anything, so she grabbed another worker from the back to ask about the menu. That person didn’t know anything, so they got the big dog — the owner I think — from the line and asked him about the new menu items I had questions about. I should have known better and left at this point, but I pushed forward. I ordered a «meat salad». Assumed it would be accompanied by typical salad accoutrements. It was literally romaine lettuce topped with carne asada and a cup of dressing on the side. See pic, attached. On the bright side, the carne asada was tasty. Hopefully this was just a bad day with their new menu rollout.

5 stars truly isn’t enough. I’ve been eating at Porkyland for 15 years now and it is still delicious! I’ve since moved to central California so I don’t get to eat here nearly as often as I’d like(every day). That said, whenever my husband and I come down to visit we bring coolers, fill them with burritos and take them home with us. I know it sounds crazy but you haven’t tasted the Mexican food up north. Blech. The staff is always extremely accommodating and generous. They’ve always made sure we leave happy. What to try? Carnitas burritos and the signature. I started eating the carne asada 15 years ago and the tortillas are to die for. I’ve tried the ones they sell at Costco but they just aren’t the same. Rolled tacos are stellar but we are burrito people. If you’ve never tried Porkyland GONOW, amazing.

Open on Christmas Day till 3PM! Wohoo, thanks to Porkyland, we were able to have a proper lunch on the holiday. Fast service, good food, and good prices. It was nice to see SO many taco options here, which is what I ended up ordering.(They offer two sizes of regular corn tortillas: regular and small) (+) Chicken mole taco was basically just grilled chicken with mole sauce ladled on top. I really liked it and was glad to see them combine two of my fave Mexican dishes! (+) Al pastor was really tasty, nicely charred, and perfectly ‘rojo.’ But didn’t seem like it was actually made on a spit. I wish they also served pineapple with it which would have made it more authentic and yummy. (+) Fried fish tacos were my least favorite of the three, but still tasty overall. They told us that the fried fish is better than their grilled fish taco but for some reason the fried fish tasted and looked like the yellow-box Captain Gorton frozen fish fillets I find at the grocery store. ~ Not as authentic as many of the tacquerias, cantinas, and food trucks one can find in SoCal but a better option than the Chipotle across the street :) Glad we tried it.

It’s always hard for me to turn down some carnitas tacos topped with onions, cilantro, and fresh salsa. For me, they are worth their weight in gold. I ordered a trio of mini carnitas tacos with a the fixings for $ 6.95 plus tax: a tad higher than what I pay at other places for the same amount of food. When the tacos arrived, although they looked haphazardly put together, they did look tasty however( ). The single wrap the tacos in corn tortillas and put a pretty good amount of crispy pork meat with a tender middle( ). The pork was good, but it lacked flavor in way of seasoning and I would of appreciated more of it, so to better enjoy the tacos, I doctored them up with some mild red hot sauce which tasted pretty good( ). I tried the green sauce as well, but its flavor was a little bland and needed to be blended better. Overall, good carnitas tacos, but with a little better seasoning ans care with the preparation of the tacos; for example, if they would place the meat and toppings in a linear fashion, they tacos would not only look better to the eye„ but would provide that wow factor. Service was good out the counter. The young lady who took my order was being trained, and she did well and was nice. They offer many items with carnitas or pork, but they also offer all the other typical items taco shops do. 3.5 Stars

My friend suggested the shrimp tacos, his regular go-to whenever he dines here. So I opted for the taco combo plate with a shrimp taco and a baja taco(choice of 2 tacos with rice, beans, and chips). 1) Parking was super convenient due to the available parking lot. 2) It was surprisingly not too crowded for an afternoon lunch. 3) There was plenty of outside seating — perfect for nomming on some Mexican food under the San Diego sun 4) The food was delicious and quickly prepared So really, based on my first visit, there’s not too much to complain about. This place is an authentic alternative to Chipotle across the street and I definitely second my friend’s recommendation to try the shrimp tacos.
