Never had falafel before and wow what I have been missing! Immediately upon entering they gave each of us a sample of falafel dipped in a yogurt dill sauce, it was a big sample too, so delicious! We ordered the falafel and pita bread with yogurt dill and hummus(highly suggested as it is only $ 5.50 and is exactly all you need), the vegetarian wrap adding falafel(enormous!!) if I could have figured out a way to cut this in half and not make a mess we could have split it. Such a great place for something different, all tasted fresh. They also have fun Mexican soda there so if you are a soda fan it is worth checking out. Lots of seating options, great casual atmosphere.

Drove 14.3 miles to eat here at 9pm when it says closing at 11pm. we get here and they say they are closed. what kind of unreliable business is this? Especially around a campus area? Hate unreliable businesses.

This is my second favorite place to eat at The Emporium near the URI Campus. I say this because if you do it right it can be a healthy place to eat out for lunch. They serve food in the order up at a counter and sit down style(I’m sure there is a name for this, but who knows). It’s super casual and a quick take out place if needed. My favorite are the various types of salad you can get. The salads always come on a fresh bed of Romain Lettuce and you can top it with the fillings they would put in a wrap, like banana peppers, jalapeños, and feta cheese. My favorite salads are the buffalo chicken, grilled chicken, falafel, and grape leaves. This place also does wraps which are similar to the salads but come in fresh pita. They have always been fresh pita breads, so they are real consistent. They also have subs, heros, grinders, take your pick, which are excellent. There fries are fantastic to especially if you put their seasoning mixture on. The only down side to this place is there servers can be a little in attentive. Sometimes they aren’t listening or miss things, but don’t get all fussed up because they don’t care if you tell them twice. Overall, like I said stellar place to eat.

Staff was rude. Food wasn’t good. Building was extremely dirty. My son ordered a Shawarma chicken sandwich. Not true shawarma, just grilled chicken breast. Will not return.

These guys can make a hefty wrap! Friendly and serving up a mean chocked full of goodness wrap. I stopped in while in the area for bite. I knew I wanted a Falafel wrap and this was just the place. After picking out exactly what i wanted on it the wrap master while putting my over sized Falafel together even gave me a sample. Food to snack on while waiting on your food — love it! This wrap could easily feed me twice and it did! Although as we all know wraps are best eaten fresh. When in the area again I know where to go for a great tasting wrap!

Considering I almost swallowed a sharp chunk of metal that was conveniently located at the bottom of my milkshake I cannot say I would order from here EVER again. FU(k3RS.

Great place! A friend suggested we meet here for lunch while down by URI. I had the Falafel wrap on whole wheat… he had the Gyro… both were huge… I couldn’t finish mine. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something healthy, fresh, filling and delicious to eat. It’s basically on URI property, I’m sure it’s a favorite amongst students… surrounded by a lot of different takeout joints… others also having a similar name«International???» But don’t confuse them… this is the real deal.

The falafel wrap is my absolute favorite easy lunch or dinner go-to. I was never a fan of falafel until I had it here — and now I will not go anywhere else! Their hummus is awesome, as is their tzatziki. Pretty quick service, and portions are large.

Their Fa-la-la-fels are calling my name! The establishment is a sort of grab and go affair. Hence they don’t focus much on ambiance or being 100% clean. But then again, it’s a local business located in an off-campus plaza filled with crazy potholes. There are worse things. Their service is pretty quick. So much so, that you can expect to walk in greeted with a warm, crispy falafel and a hefty scoop of hummus before you place your order. Not to mention a complementary sticky honeyed miniature baklava at the checkout. So you can head out on your merry little way on a sweet note! Their gyros are huge and stuffed with anything you want! When I go, I’m usually starving and ravenous. Hence I get everything: lamb, falafels, beef, chicken, a concoction of flavorful sauces/dips, onions, and crisp veggies! One mouth-filled bite will get you hooked. Trust me. It’s worth a try.

so– i’m kind of a falafel snob. and these were awesome! I’m not sure I can say they are ‘authentic’- but they are def americanized awesomeness! I had the gyro/falafel combo– with the works(hummus/tzaki/lettuce/tomato/olives/peppers(i think) and we shared a side of veg grape leaves– which come with pita and tzatziki– also stellar. so something i had never tried before– falafel with freakin franks red hot. ummm. yea. just do it. get a combo with everything.

Falafel man cracks me up. You walk into this place being offered a free piece of falafel dipped in the perfect amount of homemade hummus. As a URI alum, this is probably one of the better places to get non dining hall food on campus. Although it is not the best Middle Eastern food I’ve had in my life, it is pretty good for what it is. The chicken falafel salad is a great choice(hummus on the side).

My go-to place every time I need a mediterranean fix. I recommend the mediterranean platter(light on the lettuce with extra tabouli). You get it all, and then some.(For a little person like me, it’s the perfect size to split.)

I made a return visit to URI last weekend. At the first opportunity to eat food, I came here. I love their veggie falafels! They are the perfect combination of flavors. I’ve gotten more daring over the years, requesting the wrap be loaded with veggies, sauces and spice! They offer a ton of other goodies(salads, wraps, sandwiches). all of which I’ve never tried but look mighty delicious when they’re passed to drooling customers. This place is definitely worth the wait! If you notice a long line, hand no fear. the staff usually hands out samples to waiting customers or delicious treats and they’re quick. You’ll be through that line in no time!

The food is certainly good. I’m a fan of both the falafels and the steak and cheeses. The competency of the employees is sometimes an issue. This past time I ordered a steak and cheese, and there were three other steak and cheeses on the grill at the time. Apparently one of the steaks had mayo on, and the employee calling out the orders just called them all out the same, even though he had put it together, so I got stuck with mayo on my steak when I got home to eat it. Disappointed. I’ll probably stick to the falafels so I know I’ll get what I ordered.

FYI — Hilarious tazing story involving falafel at the end of this review. Being a URI alum, International Pockets is a god damn genuine URI institution. Every freshman from prob the mid 90’s up to a couple years ago got paraded through the URI Emporium and had a sweaty, fast talking, mildly manic looking middle eastern man shove a falafel into their hands while going on and in heavily accented english about how good falafels are. and you know what. he is right. They are light and fluffy and full fo flavor. Either on their own or wrapped up in my favorite(chicken — falafel combo) nestled next to a couple lemony herby pieces of chicken. swimming in a pool of hot sauce and hummus and tatziki and banana peppers and onions and lettuce and feta… OMG… get in my mouth right now. I graduated URI in 2000 but still make it down there on the regular to get my falafel fix. I even resisted arrest one time because some annoying cops had pulled me over while I was driving back to Providence and enjoying a delicious falafel sandwich… I ignored orders to exit my vehicle until my sandwich was done. its just not the same cold… and that is how I ended up in handcuffs being tazed by 5 of SK’s finest… all for my love of that damn delicious sandwich. Thanks Dave.

Not fancy, super casual but yummy yummy greek food! Typically I’m all over the falafel(which is super yummy) but yesterday I tried the grape leaves — yummmmy! The cucumber sauce isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it makes due. It’s always nice when they grant you with a little treat(typically a piece of falafel) when you walk in(or baklava when leaving) too!

When you walk in, Dave the Falafel guy gives you a falafel with tahini while you’re choosing your meal. It’s very good, and then he will speed through toppings whlie making your sandwich. They make great gyros, and the baklava is delicious. I get grape leaves and tabouleh too, and those are always fresh. The hummus is really great too — I went to elementary school with Dave’s sister, and I remember she brought some in one day. I was hooked! It has gone up in price over the years, but to be fair, it’s a lot of food for one person. It’s great to grab a bit between classes, and it’s pretty healthy too.

The falafel here is perfect. And they give you a free sample whenever you walk in so that you are reminded of that fact every time you come. It’s damned good marketing and it makes me very happy. I had never had Jedra before, but I tried it here after seeing how well they did some of our favorites(chicken kebab wraps, falafel, yogurt cucumber sauce, hummus), and I must say it is really, really excellent. Lentils and rice — doesn’t sound impressive, right? Well it is. Get it, you’ll be glad you did. The full plate meal with jedra, salad, pita, hummus, and yogurt cucumber sauce is amazing and feels like the most perfectly balanced meal you’ll ever eat. They always give you a free piece of baklava with your meal. It’s a great bonus. …buy anything here, and you’ll get free falafel and free baklava, it seems. Even if the food were not some of the most delicious of its kind in RI, this would probably still keep the customers coming in the door. The only slight negative is the atmosphere. Just eat in the half of the restaurant that is away from the hustle and bustle of people ordering and cooking food and you won’t even notice. Or just embrace it for what it is — a busy fast food place that serves up the best food on campus really cheap … and being as busy as it is, it’s just going to have to be loud.

I’ve only been to the place in Kingston, it’s the original location, and the owner gives everyone a free falafel sample(which is very well done) if he’s in. Vegetarian?-you will be dissapointed! Wrong place for that! I get the lamb pocket and it’s the best I’ve ever had in the state for the price! It is set up like a chow-line cafeteria, but again very good stuff. The hummus is the best in the state(for the price) not too creamy or lacking spice. Falafel is perfect, Baba ghanouj is great, tabouli, everything. Service is pretty fast too. Don’t be swayed by the location-URI campus. It is NOT the typical frat-food eatery. Warning! Deli setting, not fine dining. This place is clean, organized, has a nice big tv screen so you can watch CNN or whatever while you eat. I would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, but this is only possible on the weekend or between classes. I recommend the place highly!

Ah, falafel. This place bills itself as the ‘Sexiest Food on Campus’ and it’s 100% true. From the moment you walk in the door, they’re getting you hooked with a free falafel like a dealer with your first fix, dipped in homemade hummus. After that, you can’t stop craving it — and as if that weren’t enough bait, they give you a piece of baklava absolutely soaked in rosewater honey when you pay them for your meal. Fresh crunchy toppings, homemade sauces, the best grilled chicken in Rhode Island, and a friendly staff — especially the owner — show why this place does such huge business even on a campus full of people with horrifyingly staid food tastes. (Tip: they take credit cards, but pay with cash because they round down on cash transactions.)
