Red River BBQ and Grill

We have eaten in the restaurant several times, used the banquet room for a rehearsal dinner, and purchase food by the pound (10 of beef, but I think they gave extra). In the Clear Lake area, their BBQ is not to be exceeded. Service for the the banquet was exceptional and the management was very helpful and flexible. At the party, where we served the beef, everyone complimented it and wanted to know where we got it.

Have not been to this in over a year. The BBQ is expensive and below avg. don’t ask for a hamburger. Mine was burned with the nasty taste of an unclean grill.

We used the catering service from RR and everyone was asking us where it was from, the food was delicious!!! I really enjoy the food when we have it from there and their catering service did not let us down. From the setup to serving and of course the food then putting all away at the end. Very good and Very professional. thanks so much you did not let us down on this very important occasion.

My family and I love this bbq. We live off of N. Fry but travel all the way to Mason to experience this great tasting BBQ. Our first time here, we were exposed to the Texas hush puppies which are stuffed with meat. YUM!
The staff is very friendly and consistently helpful! I actually look forward to speaking with Romeo in the «order» line each time I visit.
Whether we dine in or pick-​up, the food is always fresh. They also have all you can eat ribs on Saturdays!

I eat here pretty regular. I have had just about everything on the menu. Everything taste great. Great service…

Omg! Their sauce is to die for! The bacon wrapped shrimp are the very best I’ve ever had.

Their spuds are absolutely delicious, as well as their chicken wings. I also love their ribs, and on Saturday nights, they have endless ribs! Also, the staff is always very polite

All you can eat ribs, What more do you need? and yes they are delicious. This is the kinda place that you go to on your cheat day of your diet. While their BBQ is not the best I have ever had their food is consistent and the service is good. Not a special place but good consistent food with so much variety you will never get board and generous portions. If you are looking for something new on those nights you just don’t feel like cooking this place is your answer.

Okay… I think this is the lowest rating I’ve ever given. Anyway, took my family here today. Thought I was waking into another great Texas BBQ. First off, if you follow my reviews, you know my kids have allergies. So we put our trust (sometimes) in the restaurant to give us a broad understanding of what is in what. Other than that, we are very responsible for what they eat obviously. Every time we asked about an ingredient, someone had to ask someone else and that person had to ask someone else. That was frustrating. Know what is in your food if you run a food business. So we just got something basic for the little one. 15 minutes later, he threw it all up. The service was not that great, but I understand. When you go there, you will understand too. This place was not bad, our experience was. As far as the food goes, I had the triple threat, the jalapeño bun falls apart in like 20 seconds. Our order was also wrong too. They have good items on the menu, but bad service doesn’t make up for what «good» food you may have. I won’t be going back. I rate on the total package, not just food. Hop this helps.

My family enjoys eating here. It is always clean and the staff is friendly.
My go-​to menu item is the grilled chicken baked potato. The grilled chicken is flavorful and the potato is a nice size.
My husband usually goes for brisket and pork ribs. He says they aren’t the best he’s ever had, but for BBQ in Katy, it’s well worth a try.
My children love the cheeseburgers here. They get them every time and they’re never disappointed.

This place is simple good food. Ribs, brisket, and turkey on my three meat plate were all good. I liked the brisket cut option because I like bark and always want more of it. The sides were ok, the Brunswick stew was awful. Meats to good to waste real estate on sides anyway.

I have tried this place a few times and I’m always disappointed. The food is dry and usually tough.

Totally underrated. I really enjoy these guys and have been going here for a year or so whenever I’m in Katy. There are a bunch of options. I don’t really eat pork, yes, the irony, but they have an incredible Turkey Swiss BBQ sandwich. It is just so unbelievably good. Throw in some onions, pickles, jalapeño bread (so good!!! make sure you request it), and the sauce, and it’s a wonderful match. As for pork fans, my partner in crime really likes their pulled pork bbq sandwich.
Sides are just okay. I like their fries and the potato salad is okay, but really, the magic is with the sandwich. You get a decent sized order too! The sides are about what you’d expect.
Service is a mixed experience but this is only an issue when you do To-​Go. Staff is nice and friendly, but inconsistent with handling orders. Always check your order if you’re doing to-​go. Seriously. Be specific about which items you want as well because some items can be fairly similar to one another (so don’t just request a turkey bbq sandwich — request the turkey swiss bbq sandwich). If you’re eating there, even when it is crowded, I’ve found it to be quite quick.
Atmosphere is fine. I like sitting outside in the back, and there are fans running when it is hot.
Totally worth checking out and one of Katy’s highlights.

If you want really good Texas barbecue, don’t go to RR. If you want tasty fried or grilled food or can settle for ok barbecue, this is your place.
RR has a big menu… many different items to choose from. RR is more like a grill rather than a BBQ joint. You can place your order online (even for steak!) and RR also caters.
My wife loves the chopped BBQ potatoes at RR. They are big and tasty. Good lunch specials during the week. RR also has daily specials for Ribeye Steaks, Shrimp, and Pork Ribs.
My daughter has had the pulled pork sandwich, but didn’t really care for it. The meat wasn’t stringy, but had chunks of smoky meat. As other reviews noted, not much for spices. I ate her leftovers later… it was ok.
I have had the Catfish PoBoy and it was delicious. I ate it open-​faced and it hit the spot. Just a slight covering of breading on the fish chunks. I would definitely have one of these again. There appear to be several different fish and seafood options on the menu.
We have tried the fried pickle chips. The order was huge and the chips were delicious. Just the right amount of breading. Recommended.
Although the salad bar is tiny, side salads are only a few bucks and a great deal.
No problems with service. You order and pay when entering, and the food is brought to your table. Self-​service on drinks.
On my last visit, I ordered a spud with two meats to go. I waited about 10 minutes on a busy Sunday night. Not bad. The spicy sausage was good, but I wasn’t as impressed with the pork tenderloin. Not much seasoning on the tenderloin. RR has very tasty BBQ sauce, slightly sweet and slightly spicy.
RR has reasonable prices and is a good place to bring the family after church.
Due to urban sprawl, quality barbecue is getting harder to find in Katy. Nonmachers, Midway, and popular BBQ joints in Fulshear and Sealy are your best bets. The Rudy’s and Spring Creek chains in Katy are also good options.
I want to go back to RR and try the Ribeye Steak night.

Smoked turkey sandwich is to die for! Yummy sweet potato fries and creamed corn. My other half had an awesome pulled pork sandwich and yummy macaroni plus mashed potatoes. This place never disappoints!
Great service and great food never had a bad meal here to date!

Brisket was good, service was a little to good, they could backed off a Lil bit. Was relaxed inside and clean.

My husband and I ordered the beef plate (or whatever it’s called) each with potato salad and Mac and cheese.
It took awhile to get to us, so when it arrived we were hungry and dove right in. Instead of being slices of beef, we had this mushy, fatty slop on our plates that was barely edible! It was basically what they had scraped off the top of the brisket. Not a good first impression at all! I don’t know how they get by serving that stuff.
Mac and cheese was ok, the potato salad was a strange consistency with a weird flavor and the jalapeño cornbread it came with was cold.
After spending $ 40 on food and then barely being able to eat any of it, I don’t see us coming here again.

My favorite BBQ place in Katy! I get the turkey plate which is my favorite. Our favorite sides are the mashed potatoes (with skins), creamed corn (amazing), and macaroni salad! Must try if your in the area. They have daily specials as well. All you can eat ribs on Saturdays $ 14.99

Great place!!! I thought it was just going to be BBQ, but it is so much more. The food coming off the grill is amazing!!! The BBQ was very moist and sauce was incredible. The burgers are the best in town!!! I actually went back the next day and got one. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The outside playground was great for the kids and the beer is ice cold.

Chopped beef nachos had no flavor and shrimp plate was way too greasy with sweet potatoes and fried okra I never turn away but it was not eaten. Tasted frozen! They forgot my fried pickles and said it would take 15 minutes to get it to me. Forget about it
