I like Planet Sub but service is super slow. There are often just a couple people working and unless someone comes through the front door and triggers the bell, there is no one at the front counter if you need something. They recently installed a new Coke Freestyle machine. Just get a water, because you never know when the Freestyle will run out of something and when that happens, it takes 15 minutes to fix it.

Quality tends to vary depending on who is making the sandwich. Fortunately, the quality never dips below pretty good so I continue to rely on good ol Planet Sub for a quick, tasty lunch.

You know, it’s just what it says it is — a sub shop. I liked it better than most sub shops because it’s quirky, the bread is freshly made and is a little unique, and the sandwiches are not just your average combination of meat & lettuce. The staff was friendly, and the service was reasonably quick. And now of course, the price is what the price should be. I doubt you can go wrong if you set your expectations expectedly.

My 6″ mega roast beef sub was ready in about seven minutes, and tasted great. The bread was fresh, and perfectly toasted. There was also plenty of roast beef. The service was laid back and friendly, while the interior was clean and spacious. Good e-club discounts, and daily specials are available.

This establishment is going downhill. Had lunch here today and it’s very messy. The bathrooms are dirty. Used to have friendly professional people working here, but it seems like the new crew just doesn’t care about customer service.

Surprised they are still in business. Service is so so but the quality of my food was poor. I had them add jalapenos and several times while eating I had to pull the end with a stem out of my mouth.

If you haven’t eaten at Planet Sub you are missing out on a tasty lunch! I don’t think there’s a better place for sandwiches in KC and I love that they are a local chain. They have a ton of subs on their menu. I’ve only tried a handful of them. My all time favorite is the green turkey. The experience is a close second. I occasionally get the planet sub(or yellow sub at the original one in Lawrence) the dagwood, the tijuana taxi, and the super hero. They also frequently have promotional specials almost once a week. Sign up for their emails and you’ll be in the know.

Came here around dinner time to get a sandwich to-go. I ordered the 6 inch Pastrami melt and my friend ordered a 6 inch sandwich as well. The cashier said it would take about 10 minutes. We sat and waited, and it was ready near the estimated time. Not really quick, if you ask me. I drove home and ate my sandwich another 10 minutes later. It was pretty disappointing. Not too much meat and the bread was not great either. I forgot the sandwich even had cheese on it because I could barely taste it! It really was just a dry, tasteless sandwich. Usually this size sandwich is plenty for me but I was still hungry after I ate the whole thing. I would say it was a half step above Subway, but that ain’t sayin’ much.

Love these guys. Hot or cold. ½ or full. I prefer turkey club sans tomato. They are always down with custom orders. Take advantage of their online ordering process. Quick, cheap & delicious!

I live nearby and only been here a few times. The sandwiches were just ok. I’ve had a veggie once and a turkey once. They weren’t anything that wowed me. The must frustrating thing was they were not busy one day and I was in a hurry so I ordered a sandwich to go. It took 25 minutes for me to get it. That was my last visit ever.

I have been past this and one other Planet Sub countless times. It is ridiculous I have not stopped in to have a sandwich before. Behold a Friday with an empty fridge. So having never been one might find the menu a bit overwhelming. There are many choices. Lately I have been trying to go veggie a little more… you often find me happily gnawing on bones most of the time LOL. So I laser sighted the Tempeh Parmesan. I have only had tempeh one other time on a philly cheese in Savannah GA. It was delicious there and it was delicious here. I asked the young lady at the counter about putting tempeh in other sandwiches… they are happy to do it. Anyway, the sauce was good and the bread was soft. It tasted like a plate of eggplant Parmesan. I suppose I will be back here much faster than my first visit. :)

Just like all the other Planet Sub shops around town… worth the wait! Where else can you get a delicious, made to order, fresh sub on truly amazing bread. I always go for the Planet Combo with turkey(Provolone, Artichoke Hearts, Fresh Red Peppers, Tangy Olive Spread + Your Choice of Meat)… you won’t be disappointed! A few tips: call ahead if you’re in a hurry; get a punch card — more sandwiches = more free sandwiches; watch for your favorites on the daily specials.

The food is always good. The service needs improvement. The wait for your food is a little long. Twenty minutes, in my opinion, is a bit much. I have also experienced times when, after waiting twenty minutes, my order is wrong. If you’re taking that much time to get it right, I get that. If that isn’t the case, this speaks to a lack of attention to detail, which equates to laziness. Not good.

Between something interesting for vegetarians, and carnivores, this sub shop pertains to all. I had a sub with artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes, pesto and cheese.(no Daiya here), red peppers and portabellos. It was fresh, good and the sun dried tomatoes added to the flavors. I’ve never had a sandwich with artichoke hearts. It was brought to my table toasted. The bread was good. The dining area has wrought iron on their tables and chairs. A huge mural of planets and such hangs near the drink area. It was inexpensive, and they gave me a sub card. On Wednesdays they double punch. Coolio. I’ll return for sure.

A sandwich tastes SOO much better when you don’t have to prepare it for yourself! Their bread is nice and soft too. I just had the Roast Beef Deli sandwich, yum. They offer three different flavors of iced tea and cookies for dessert, with friendly service. A quick inexpensive lunch that makes me smile!
