Location… if you are walking in the area you’ll be fine. There is no parking. I went during the lunch menu(2:30pm ish) and was seated immediately. It was a quiet and quaint restaurant which played music. I didn’t have to wait long to place my order. The lady was observant and came over immediate to take my order. They had a full bar section and I asked the lady to make me something which to my surprise was tasty. I can not remember all the ingredients only the Hypnotic which caused the color blue. The food I decided on was considered the lunch box D which consisted of Salmon teriyaki, Shrimp tempura, white rice and vegetable spring rolls. Everything was hot so do not bite into anything without cooling it. Enjoy and try everything.

So I’m at home watching tv on Friday night. I ordered from this restaurant using Seamless. Since I live in a doorman building all delivery are delivered to our door. I received a telephone call from the restaurant requesting me to go downstairs and retrieve my food. I examined that they can either come to my door or give my order to the doorman. The«lady» at the restaurant said she didn’t have a delivery man so she decided to put my food in a taxi and wanted me to fetch it from the back seat. I attired to explain to this person who is new to the world of commerce that I’m relaxing at home and didn’t want to run downstairs. The representative cursed at me! I was shocked and will never order from this restaurant again.

So so disappointed !! I ordered 3 regular basic rolls, a miso soup and a can of coke. For more than $ 30 with tip and tax! It came 2 hours later, soup was cold and they forgot my coke. Tried to call but store was close already. Never going to order there again, but do yourself a favor and just go to the city and get good sushi.

We came here for sushi. I was lost the second we walked in. Sushi? Guacamole? Sticky floors and old beer stench. Yikes! I actually give them props for some good sushi. Date liked it but I’d come here for a drink to kill time before dinner at thirty acres. And leave it at that.

I went on a Friday night while Kilsy and her bossa nova group, Vespertine played. They were way better than the food. The food was slightly better than average. It was crowded and the service was very slow. I had the chicken bento box. The shrimp shumai was the best part. It might be better to go when they are not so crowded. We waited over one hour for our food.

This place is awesome if you know what you are going for. Sushi Tango is like a local neighborhood bar, except they happen to serve sushi — and very fresh sushi at that! You come here for a stiff drink, fun times and good food. Not fancy, speedy service or a waitress that’s gonna kiss your ass. The owner, Grace, does do a bit of multi tasking, so maybe things aren’t super fast, but who cares? She’s super friendly and hilarious and appreciates her regulars. This place is the shit and if you don’t get it you’re just missing out!

Overall, the food is decent and the prices are reasonable, but the service and atmosphere were completely HORRIBLE. We ordered a caliente roll(very good), spicy tuna roll, philly roll, spring rolls, two miso soups, and drinks — $ 65 including tip. Not bad for two people! BUT woman behind the bar(the owner?) took about 20 minutes to deliver our drinks and take our order even though we were practically the only people in the restaurant. Over the course of our meal, quite a few regulars came in and these patrons were given much better service(drinks were made very quickly and they took the majority of the owner’s attention). Not to mention that it was FREEZING in there! This was March, not the dead of winter, but still quite cold because the heat was not on. Toward the end of our meal, a hostess started her shift and dropped our check(another ordeal that took forever). She ran our debit card and then stood over me at our table until I signed it and gave it to her!!! That’s a first. So rude and intrusive. Needless to say, we will never go back and if you’re smart, you won’t either.

I recently dined in and I left completely unimpressed. The place is bare bones and needs a face lift like nobody’s business. It’s not that it’s even bare bones, it’s just kind of filthy and ragged. Went here and there was one other table and someone at the bar. That didn’t stop the owner/bartender/waitress(whatever she maybe) to be aggressively shouting/speaking super loud about a personal conversation to said woman at the bar. The place was so quiet and dead, it was unbearable to just listen to this woman. Edamame wasn’t fresh. The dumplings were good and the sushi rolls were decent, but the sashimi? No bueno. We left some limp and sad pieces of fish behind due to the fact that it just wasn’t tasting good. No rich colors here, no deliciously fatty pieces of anything. We left dropping some $$$ and not satisfied at all. I wouldn’t recommend.

Great ambiance went for drinks while waiting for a table for another restaurant. Nice chandeliers. Nice dark melow feel. Nice adult hang out. Drink lush was good if you like grapefruit

Oh god. For a $ 100 meal(with only one of us drinking), I have expectations. The food was okay, nothing special, but the service and ambiance was awful. The waitress/bartender/busboy/owner(?) was loud, unfriendly, and completely unprofessional. I will not go back and I wouldn’t recommend. If I am going to splurge on dinner out, I don’t want to walk out of the restaurant and think that it wasn’t worth it. My experience was completely underwhelming and disappointing.

Nice atmosphere, although even for a Sunday at 5:30 it was surprising to find no one else around. Good quality sushi, reasonable prices for the area. It doesn’t «wow» me for that fifth star but it’s a nice little place. I would have to come back again to really get a better feel for it.

Went here for the first time this week, after living in JC for nearly a decade. The spot was empty. Décor, floors, tables, chairs, etc are shabby as sh*t. The woman who served us(I think the owner) was really nice, but more interested in talking to her friend sitting at the bar about Sochi. The food was not great. The edamame was old, dry and WAY over salted. The miso soup was bland and SUPER salty. The sashimi dinner was sub-par. None of the fish was rotten, but all of it was soft and flavorless. The wasabi and ginger were both the oldest that I’ve ever eaten. We also got 2 rolls. The rolls were actually pretty tasty, but that’s just because of the delicious rice, spices, sauces, etc, covering up the same soft flavorless fish as the sashimi diner.

I’ve ordered from this place twice. The service is appalling. The first time I ordered rolls with brown rice, they gave me only one roll with brown rice. I didn’t bother to complain. This time I called and mentioned it and asked that everything be made with brown rice. For my specialty roll I ordered a super dragon roll. They delivered it and it’s a plain eel roll with cucumber. I call up. The lady tells me I heard you say dragon roll. I tell her you don’t even have dragon roll on your menu and I said no caviar, which is another indication I am ordering the super dragon as it comes with caviar. I asked how can I get what I ordered, she said«order again». EXCUSEME!!! I know I speak clear English and I ordered from your printed menu so I didn’t say the wrong thing. Because you were rushed and entered the wrong order AGAIN you want me to pay for it. I paid for the incorrect order the first time. I told her don’t worry, I will never order again. You won’t screw me 3x and give me bad service!!! Just because I am a delivery order doesn’t mean you are free to screw me on what I ordered. This place sucks. We will stick with Honshu. Totally upset and sick, as i am allergic to cucumbers!!!

I really like this place. The sushi is so fresh! They will even personalize your rolls if you want something not on the menu. And besides the sushi, the guacamole is out of this world– best in JC. You can even get bacon in it. Their pork Ramen is also delicious, especially on a cold night. When you go, you should sit in the bar area because Grace and the other customers make the place fun! Overall, its a great neighborhood sopt.

I have had take out from here a few times and been impressed with the quality of their rolls. Also have had the opportunity to try their fresh guacamole which is pretty good and has a nice spice to it. I know it doesn’t sound like guacamole and sushi go together, but if you ask me guacamole goes with everything. Good solid choice for sushi in JC.

I don’t know about this place. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. I realized they served Ramen! Probably the only place in Jersey City to serve Ramen btw. If you know of any others please let me know. However they were out of Ramen on the day I went =( I’ll have to go back to try it one day. But I opted for Udon Noodle Soup with Tempura. Sad to say that I wasn’t impressed and it wasn’t as great as I had hoped it would be. There wasn’t a great variety of vegetables, just lots of onions i felt like. I like more carrots and cucumbers. Also the soup seemed mediocre like it was from a packet. Perhaps next time I’ll stick to the Expensive sushi they have.

I love Sushi Tango. It’s a great neighborhood-ey spot where everyone knows your name. The staff are hilarious and accommodating and the chef makes some great rolls. The fish is as good as you can get on the East Coast. PS — I have also been eating sushi for years and have dined at some of world famous sushi meccas you’ve read about. This place is definitely not«just for people who have recently become obsessed!»

Sushi Tango is a nice place for relaxed, delicious Sushi dinners. Never very busy when they aren’t hosting concerts, the service tends to be slow in the no-rush atmosphere. The food may take a while, but the appetizers are good, and a bowl of their fresh edamame can pass the time. The full bar also serves well-mixed drinks. The menu is large with an assortment of noodle dishes and plenty of sushi options. While a bit expensive for the area, they’ve consistently served some of the best special rolls around, notably their Snow White Roll, Anniversary Roll, and the Eyjafjallajokull(Swedish volcano. according to our server), a special roll made with a unique mix of spicy cooked white tuna, masago, cilantro, jalapeño and topped with smoked salmon.

My family, and a friends family, were in Jersey City looking for a good Spanish restaurant and couldn’t find one. The kids were hungry so we needed to find something and couldn’t look any longer. Then we stumbled upon this place… They have lots and lots of rolls to choose from, a pretty large and diverse menu, for a sushi spot… and a full bar(which was key). The adults got sushi, rolls and sashimi… the kids got noodles and fried rice, and we even got fresh guacamole and chips to satisfy everyone’s initial hunger. *Note, if you get the guac and have kids with you — ask them to make it mild. The chef put a bunch of jalapeño’s in there, even though we had a table full of kids… and we were sitting right next to him… Kinda strange. Bottom Line: Decent sushi, long wait time(for not being crowded), and friendly staff.

Stopped in the other night. We were the only people there. We had three rolls and a couple of glasses of wine. The rolls were actually pretty good. The wine was too. My glass was dirty though. And I wouldn’t exactly call the service«fast» especially considering we were the only people there. Oh and I thought the tab was way overpriced for what we had. Still, it was within walking distance and the rolls were good so I’ll probably be back.
