I went to this JC Penny Salon several months ago and got my hair cut, washed and styled by Lisa. She was amazing! I wanted a bob that would look good when straighten or when I wear it naturally, which is thin but very curly. She listened and gave me a cut that went perfectly with my curly hair. Lisa made a loyal customer out of me and I have since been getting my done with her every 2 weeks for the past 6 months. She is amazing with ALL hair types and is such a sweet person that cares about her customers. I highly recommend her to anyone especially people with naturally curly hair, mixed hair or ethnic hair. I will not let anyone else touch my hair now! Oh and the hair products that are used at this salon is top of the line. I have had my share of allergic reactions to shampoos at other locations even other salons inside this same mall but never at JCP Salon and their prices are even less than their competitors.

I made a mistake of trying to save a few bucks. The stylist dididn’t even know what a balayage is.

Ivette is fantastic. I used to go to really expensive NYC salons… no more. It’s a better value and I like what she does with the color, cut and blow out.

I don’t know what to do with my hair these days which means«just trim it till you decide!» So I grew up with a mom whose haircut checklist was simply«does it or does it not look like your hair was cut» no matter what the price, or rather especially if the price was high :) With a trim in mind, and my mom sitting on my shoulder, I went to see Jenn at the JC Penney salon. One of my customers at my shop recommended her, and I was very happy with the trim and the cost. My hair is simply shoulder length and I asked for long layers. Wash(with nice little massage) and cut cost $ 23. I opted to not have it blown dry but that would have cost an additional $ 10 she said. So does my hair look like it was cut? It sits nicely on my shoulders now, the ends are healthy and I know it was a great deal for Jersey City(esp since most cuts are $ 45 – 70 around here)! In my 20s and 30s, spending $ 80 for a haircut, no problem because it was cutting edge. My 40s? As long it looks nice and they were nice at the salon, that’s all that matters :) P.S. Jenn works Mon-Fri only and she gave me three samples of hair products! Another score for them!

I have had a consistently great experience at this salon. The prices are great and they have very good products for sale, often at discount price. All the stylists are very good, especially Ivette.

Stylist Joanna Ortiz works at the JC Penny Salon in the Newport Mall. She cut my 7 year old son’s hair yesterday and it looks amazing. He truly has never had a better haircut. She was fast, courteous, and recommended a change to his usual hairstyle that turned out to be just what he needed. She has made a repeat customer out of me.
