So we waited about 25 minutes when e came here for Mother’s Day no biggie as we didn’t have reservations and gladly would have waited. The service was interesting, 4 people’s food was out and nearly cold by the time my moms food came out happy Mother’s Day mom !! The food was chill not terrible and not fantastic(I am always low key on the hunt for fulfilling my Peruvian food fantasies) Let me break it down for you guys, we got: Tacu tacu con bistec-this one was pretty good Tacu Tacu was a well seasoned heap of rice and beans perfectly crisp on the outside and the steak well seasoned and cooked perfectly Tallarines verdes– this one was ok the flavor was good but it was lumpy for what it was technically a pesto normally Tallarines verdes are a smoother more mellow version of the pesto you are usually used to. It was good for a pesto pasta not for Tallarines Verde’s. Papa s la huancaina– The review is about to get more grimm thing is man if there is one thing I always order at any Peruvian restaurant it’s this. Because it’s the hardest to get right and man oh man was this one weak. The sauce was thin and lacking the flavor you’d expect and the spice it was dull and that sucked :( Tallarines a la huancaina– the biggest let down of the night it was an even more watered down version of the sauce on the papas and not only that but it tasted like a cream sauce at this point no spice nothing. Chicha morada– not sure if this was bottled or homemade either way I liked it it wasn’t overly sweet but it could have used a slice of lime even though I’d be happy either way. Honestly I am open to giving this place another shot as I am always anxiously waiting to eat Peruvian food as a proud Perucha.

Great, flavorful chicken. Well seasoned to the bone. Service is super attentive and friendly. Ambience is casual and comfy. Live music at night(went on a Saturday). My boyfriend and his brother loved the chicken and anticuchos. Great place for Peruvian chicken!

Great portions and the jalea is a killer bargain. You get big chunks of fish and shrimp heaped up your plate. One of the best Peruvian restaurants in the city.

Today was my second visit to this restaurant and I highly recommend it, especially to those who like seafood and/or Peruvian food. Super friendly and competent staff and the food is superb. Price was reasonable, the quality of the food makes it worth every cent.

My family and I went there on a Saturday evening around 6pm, and left there almost around 10pm because the service is beyond terrible. When we first arrived the waiter took about 15mn to come to our table, then another 30mn to bring the drinks. The food for each of us at the table came at different times which made it uncomfortable for us to eat in front of the other people that their food hadn’t arrived. I had the ceviche which was the worst ceviche I’ve ever ever ever tasted. The fish smelled and tasted very ranky. And one of the people at the table never even got her food. They would have to pay me to come back here and I still wouldn’t accept.

The food in this place was absolutely to die for and the sangria is very strong(and I’m extremely good at holding down my alcohol). The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome. My boyfriend and I didn’t have a reservation, but we walked in on a Friday night around 7:30 or so and there was only one other couple in the place. It started to fill up and get more crowded as we left. Even before it was full of people though, the live music had already started. Normally I love a live performance over dinner, but the music was way too loud to the point that we couldn’t hear each other or the waiter, except for a 5 min break. It definitely made for a difficult time. It also didn’t help that neither one of us speaks Spanish(though we both look Hispanic), so the waiter had to explain stuff to us over the music. Otherwise, the food was amazing, and the portions were very generous. We ordered the parrillada Peruana para dos and we were only able to eat about half of it together. It included all different kinds of grilled meats(skirt steak, chicken, pork, cow heart, chorizo, ribs) and comes with 2 sides, which we barely touched. Everything was so flavorful and just plain delicious. For some reason we also decided to order dessert even after being super full. We got the rice and purple corn pudding, which I definitely recommend. I normally don’t like strange colors in my food, but I got over it once I took the first bite. It was great! Overall, I really enjoyed myself. My only complaint is the volume of the music and that you had to ask the waiter specifically for a glass of water, when it’s usually just given to you elsewhere as soon as you take your seat. But all in all, I still recommend visiting this place.

The food here was mediocre, prices were expensive, and the service was very below average. Our table was not in a good position every time the door opened our napkins would go flying and we would get a strong cold gust. We asked our waitress for a refill of water and it took her well beyond 20 minutes to do so. She also charged the credit card we used 3 times. Will not be returning to this restaurant in the future.

This is my first time in this place, I decided to try it after passing by a few times. I had the Jalea with arroz chaufa, all I can say it was delicious!!! Just be aware that the onions are raw they have a strong flavor. They had live music its was really good! The only thing I don’t recommend is the sangria l, I didn’t like it at all! besides the sangria I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere !! I recommend it !!!

Best chicken ever in all Queens for sure! Great environment and friendly staff. The combo chicken with rice and French fries was delicious for an affordable price. It’s a family business that keeps the real tradition of the Peruvian food. A must go!

My husband I ate dinner here last night. We had the papa huancaina(tasty but too salty), the ceviche(fresh and tasty), some decent beans and another dish called camarones al ajillo. This was supposed to be shrimp in a garlic sauce. It tasted awful. The garlic was from a jar and the sauce tasted like gravy in a jar. I couldn’t eat it. The service was pretty good but what is up with the bathroom? No toilet seat? Haven’t seen that in a while. We may go back just for the ceviche. But for any other Peruvian staples will go elsewhere. Has potential to be a good place but they need to improve quality of food and please buy a toilet seat! The hardware store next door can help you out.

Good stuff, good stuff. Eaten inside and ordered takeout from here a few times now. The pork steak was perfectly done both times I’ve ordered it(as part of the meat feast), which alone brings me back — it’s under-appreciated and so very hard to find good pork steaks. That and the whole chicken are both very juicy and very consistently cooked, which is a great indicator to me. I know very little about Peruvian cuisine(and no Peruvians to lean on), but I was very happy with the other dishes I’ve tried here.

Favorite Peruvian restaurant ever! Aji de gallina and pulpo al alivo are amazing, and the causa rellena is the best I’ve ever had. I was always in love with ensalada rusa as a kid, but the causa rellena here blows any potato salad you’ve ever had to shreds. I would recommend coming here in a group since the portions are kinda huge, even the appetizers are big enough for a group. Service could be better depending on the waitress, but otherwise this place is pure class.

My favorite peruvian restaurant, always a new experience, food is amazing and the staff is always excellent. Ceviche mixto is delicous, and you have to try the lomo saltado, But my favorite is the chaufa de mariscos. I have been here more than 10times and I love this place.

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I visited several weeks ago for dinner I had I had grilled churrasco steak peruvian style and my boyfriend had ahi de gallina which is similar to chicken cacciatiore and the food was delicious it was well prepared our waiter was very nice and accommodating since we had my daughter whose an infant with us. I also tried the chica morada(drink made from corn and several other fruits) and they make it fresh here and it tasted very good the prices are average. Bathroom was in need of some cleaning and daily maintenance except for one employee who had a bit of an attitude the experience was good I’d recommend it others. I’d like to try their Peruvian style rotisserie chicken on my next visit

We have tried this restaurant a couple of years ago and we did not like the food. Their restaurant in Jamaica served better food but the atmosphere is not pleasant. After a couple years we decided to give it another shot. Well the food was better, and their fish was fresh that’s why they are not getting a one star. However their service isn’t organize at all. The food arrived at different times, and one order came after about 30 minutes of everyone being served already. Also when the appetizers came there was no utensils to eat it with and the waitress took a long time to come in to check on us, until we had to call another waiter to please give utensils. I can’t blame it all on the waitress since she seemed pretty busy but mostly on the owner to organize staff a better way. Don’t think that I will be returning. Also don’t try the Flan de Lucuma, it’s not good at all. The dessert that was good was the Leche de Asada. We ordered the Jalea(which was good since the fish tasted fresh), Pescado a lo macho(again pretty decent and fresh Corvina), Lomo al jugo(too much cumin, not enough tomatoes), Pescado al ajillo(sauce too thick when it doesn’t have to be) and and Chupe de Camarones(this needed to be thicker, since it’s supposed to be a chowder, it was more like a soup, the flavor was food). Unfortunately there isn’t really good Peruvian seafood so comparing to other places in Queens the food was decent.

This is a fantastic Peruvian restaurant – a cozy, clean and bright dining room with big windows looking out on Northern Blvd. We ordered the ceviche mixto, and the half chicken combo with sweet plantains. Everything was delicious – the ceviche was a great mix of seafood, the chicken had all those great spices on the skin and was very moist. But the sweet plantains… Wow! The best we have ever tasted. All in all I say skip the more famous and gigantic Peruvian restaurant a couple blocks west and come here instead.

Came for Peruvian lunch special, aka, Menu. For $ 8.50 I had an amazing beef sancocho soup, and for entrée spaghetti with beef sauce. Not your typical Peruvian fare, but nice food like Mom makes! I’ve had the ceviche, choros here in the past. Pretty good. The weekend breakfast is lovely as well. Definitely worth a shot if you’re in the neighborhood. Also, I see that they now live music on Fridays…“Musica Criolla”…get ready to get nostalgic!

Warning: I’m giving three stars only because I don’t want to hurt a small business. However, despite the chicken being good the first visit along with the maduros and seafood soup(parihuela), the second time the fish in it was rubbery(especially the calamari) and undercooked, but was not taken off the check despite two or three attempts to complain to the waitress. In America the customer is right. Will not be returning unfortunately.

El Anzuelo Fino — As promised, I came back. and this time, in greater numbers. I came here for a belated birthday dinner for moi; My party and I were far from disappointed(and it seems I convinced more Pio fans to defect!). We again had the sangria and pollo a la brasa. but also indulged in the full jalea, fish in garlic sauce, and dessert. It was absolutely off-da-hook! The service was super(as it was last time) and to top it off, my check-in here got our party 15% off of the dinner tab. SWEEEEET! We’re already planning our next visit; definitely eyeing the fried snapper and the ceviche. Can’t wait.
