One of the worst Pakistani /kabob restaurants I’ve been to. Food: The seekh kabobs were so tough and chewy that I needed a knife to cut them up. The goat korma was a bland pot of oil with minimal actual gravy and meat On top of all of this, food takes way too long to arrive Service: Servers are polite but completely fulfill requests as getting more water/napkins. Had to ask multiple servers for these basics. This is a fairly competitive market and the main reason why I think place stays popular is because of its relatively low prices. If you’re familiar with good Pakistani food, I’d stay away

Great place for Nihari and Kabobs. A must visit when you are in Dallas for a reasonable price.

The food tastss really great here! It is authentic Pakistani/Indian food, I love their crispy chicken burgers they are the bomb dot com. I do not recommend their biryani, but everything else tastes authentic and full of spice. I can recommend their chicken kabab rolls which are yummy and full of flavor. The downside for this place is that they take forever to bring out your food. Sometimes I’ve waited 30 mins to and hour because their always so busy though, so I guess you can say it runs well. Their employees are nice as well.

We ordered seekh kebab and it was stale and cold. We complained and they just microwaved it and got it back. We usually have a good experience here but this time it wasn’t good. Although they were apologetic about it and did not even charge us for it. They handled it well later on so good service there. The staff is polite. Their kadhai items and chicken tikka is a must have. Although its value for money. Just wish they are more consistent with their taste.

This might be the most delicious grilled meat I’ve ever eaten. I stopped in because I circled around town twice and couldn’t decide what I wanted for dinner. When that happens, the answer should always be: try something new. So I did. Texas King is a small storefront restaurant which is also a tiny market. I was the only white person there, and the only woman in Westerized clothing. I don’t mean Texas style by that. But no one made me feel uncomfortable. I checked out the menu and eventually decided on two things I’ve never had: goat karahi and malai(chicken) tikka. I love goat and as for the chicken, well, any marinate that involves cheese is a-okay in my book. I struggled but eventually resisted gajar halwa, a decadent dessert which I adore. I ordered takeout. Food did take quite a while to come out, so next time I would call ahead. Prices are good, but portions are a bit on the small side so keep that in mind. The chicken was the most perfectly grilled meat I’ve ever ever had. It was tender, and more moist than I thought possible. And the flavor of the marinade was fantastic! It came with an outstanding cilantro(and ginger?) sauce which was also provided as a dressing for the side salad. The goat was also incredible, though the portion was a little small. Perfectly tender, not gamey at all(and I generally like a little gameyness), and the balance of favors in the sauce was just so fantastic! Food is on the spicy side, if that is a problem. Can’t wait to try some other things on the menu.

This restaurant is the epitome of terrible desi service. I have ordered take out from Texas King multiple times and I would have to wait a minimum of 20 minutes. I have even tried to go 30 minutes after the time they told me the food would be ready and I still had to wait 30 minutes more. I do not recommend anyone to give them business… plus the restaurant smells like a hole in the ground in Pakistan.

When this place first opened, it was probably the best Indian/Pakistani food place in the metroplex along with Al Markaz for me. Al Markaz was a bit far from where I lived so I would have given Texas King the edge even though their décor and seating arrangement were non existent at the time. But let’s be honest, the food is all that matters at the end of the day and they definitely delivered. Their Achilles heel has always been their service which ranged from manageable to downright disastrous at times. There was even an employee who sat down to eat his own meal before putting in an order for my family once. He had been promptly removed the next time I visited and it was smooth sailing since(relatively) However, over the past couple of years I have had reactions ranging from completely satisfied to absolutely disgusted at what I have been served. I usually order to go and it’s always a great surprise at what I end up with when I open up the containers at home especially if I’m ordering something like Nihari. Consistency is key. I’d rather get mediocre food consistently than amazing food once and something terrible another time. Not only that, I have been hung up on while placing my order several times on the phone. The people respond much better if you start off your phone call in a rude manner as well. Fortunately being bilingual and understanding the nuances can get you by if you don’t let them boss you around on the phone. This might seem like an unfair statement and I’m pretty sure it’s only 1 – 2 employees who have that issue but every time they answer the phone, they’re potentially losing customers. I made a Unilocal account specifically to share my negative experiences because it seemed laughable to me that they have a Unilocal certificate stapled on one of their walls given to places with over a 4⁄5 rating. I have no issue coming back and editing this review if I see some consistent improvement, but too many times I’ve been disappointed and this used to be my go to place for great food that I had recommended to several people. Unfortunately, one of the times I decided to eat out with a friend who hadn’t been here and was left red faced at the service. I won’t share it in this review because it’s long enough to get my point across but the 2 stars is being generous. With that said, I hope they get their act together and at least get their food to be consistent and the service can be overlooked. I really only care about whether or not the food is worth the money and would love to come back and edit this rating accordingly depending on future experiences!

It was a good meat shop and used to be one of the good tasting places when opened, their gimmick was and I guess still is $ 1.99 chicken biryani. It used to be plenty and good tasting. They never had any customer service or much of an ambiance since it was inside a butcher shop, but you get what you pay for so we were not complaining. We used to come here for lunch a lot and enjoyed it. But now its food quality is going down. Their $ 1.99 chicken biryani now has no taste and almost no meat. The raita smells, when complained they argued that it is fine. They expanded very fast and even bought the restaurant and grocery store next door. Now ambiance it better but still no customer service and food quality is degraded. For an example, recently we went to Iftra buffet and food had no taste, even their grill items, customer service was worse. They keep running out of items and you have to keep telling the staff to get naan and other items. They had one goat curry and when meat ran out after asking a few times, we were told to wait, after waiting the meat came goat was replaced with beef which killed the taste. Overall, we now again have lot of choices for Indian and Pakistani food in Irving. I hope they get their act together and make this again a good place to enjoy food.

By far one of the worst restaurants i have ever been to. My husband I went here to open our fast. We called ahead of time and asked if there were available seats and if we could order off the menu because we did not want buffet, the gentlemen on the phone said he reserved us a table and we could order off the menu. When we got to the restaurant the same guy(middle aged man with glasses) told us that there were no seats and we couldn’t order off the menu. He then allowed us to order off the menu but our food was cold and horrible, the table next to me complained about their food as well. I will never go near this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. Seems like this place lies to there customers and is understaffed by having one girl manage the entire restaurant.

Slow service; thats because there is only one waiter to take orders. Once you order, your food will arrive not sooner than 40 minutes. Price is expensive in terms of service and quality. You wont find chicken biriyani in dinner and lunch peak time, they are always out of chicken biriyani.

This place is a great adventure. Go with an open mind and empty stomach and you won’t be let down. The naan bread is made in house(as is the entire menu) and it is to die for. I love the Chicken Biryani and Dahl Gosht. I have only been during lunch and on the week days but have not been let down. They take cards but don’t get too fancy with the check splitting. Taking a group is ok but will take longer.

This is an amazing find in Irving, TX. There used to be a restaurant at this location called Qarni, an Indian & Chinese restaurant, one of our favorites when we were staying in Dallas. After we moved out of Dallas, we went back to visit a year later and were disappointed to see Qarni shut down. However, the new restaurant did not disappoint us at all. Their chicken biriyani is the best in Dallas area. Not just flavor, also a unheard of price. Where else would you find a small box of Chicken Biriyani for $ 1.99? Granted, it’s small, but enough for a wife like mine who is health conscious! Nevertheless she decided to order a 2nd one… yes it’s that’s good! The place is close to DFW, so it’s tempting to take it to go if you are flying out. But a word of caution, do not open it in the plane. Not because the whole plane will smell like Indian food, but because it’s just not going to be enough to share with your fellow passengers! ;) It’s a very casual place, part of a halal grocery store. So guys, if you want your date to try awesome chicken biriyani on a first date, take it to-go, just flavor may not get you a 2nd. :) We tried their goat biriyani and few other dishes as well. Overall, the menu is great. Service is ok, they tend to mess up orders sometimes, otherwise I would give them a 5 star. This definitely will be at the top of our list of Indian restaurants every time we visit Dallas.

Not quite sure what to think of this place but it definitely deserves a second chance. If you want an authentic Pakistan(that regain anyway) food experience this is the place to go. We had goat chops, goat bisyian, goat qorma, goat kabobs, and garlic Naan bread. Chops were a little dry but the qorma was awesome. Service for the most part was good, but slow. Everything was made fresh so that was part of it, however, 3 tables that came in after us were served first. Not sure what was up with that but we were enjoying the company of each other so no biggie. Some of the things on the menu were not available because the kitchen ran out but again if you are using fresh ingredients… My only complaint is that everything is a la carte and the menu wasn’t real clear on that. So if ya order chops… That’s all you get. Bread is by the piece and no refills on drinks. Everything is canned or bottled. If you don’t specify a pitcher of water… They will bring you bottled. You can eat here pretty affordably if you are careful of how you order. Pick things on the menu that come with rice, ask for a pitcher of water, etc. that being said, most items on the menu aren’t more than $ 6 – 7. And the food was tasty.

Cheap and good taste for meat lovers. Try kababs, biryani if you are eating here for the first time.

So we placed an order for chicken tikka at 5. We get the order at 6:20. At around 5:45 they all of the sudden realize they ran out of chicken. Horrible customer service from the old guy at the counter. The whole 2 – 3 more mins thing doesn’t fly when we ordered an hour ago. We would’ve cancelled the order had we not traveled so far to get here. No sorry. No thank you. Which means No return business. Will never come back. Not recommended!

You have disappointed me for the last time, Texas King. Got my Malai boti roll and the chicken inside was still bwok-ing. They take so long to make your order, you would expect the food to actually be cooked. This has happened to me twice already, and that’s twice too many times. I will give you 3 stars for what you used to be, but honestly now there are a million other places to go to in Irving that actually care for their customers and try not to give them food poisoning. The 3 stars is for the $ 1.99 biryani. Also their customer service is atrocious. Maybe it is because they’re used to really rude customers.

We ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani to go, and the butter chicken stole the show! It was super buttery in a good way, with GIANT chunks of really tender chicken… but no rice came with it. We ended up spooning most of the rice from the biryani into it. The biryani had a really good flavor, but it was dry and hardened in many places. Also be forewarned that the chicken in the biryani is on the bone. Next time, and there probably will be a next time, we’re just getting the butter chicken with an order of rice!

Why is the water room temp and in a bottle, I don’t recall asking to pay for bottled water? Why didn’t we get a cold jug of water like our neighboring table? As you can tell, so far the service is sloppy… Oh update! Our waitress just kind of… Left? I’m not sure but she vanished. Will update as more events unfurl. I think she got into a fight with the owner but that’s just my conjecture. And now the neighbors who came after we did already have their food… The quality of food redeems this place else wise it would be a solid 0 stars At least the food was good…
