Great meat prices but BEWARE! Their scales must be really off because I bought 35 lbs of meat and I only had 20 lbs of meat. I could understand maybe 2 – 3 lbs off but 15 lbs? BIGRIPOFF. I pack the meat into 1 lb bags for my mother. This is not the first time this has happened to me. BEWARE! They sell frozen meat which weighs heavier on the scale. Basically, you’re paying for meat and ice. I do not complain at the store because I’ve tried in the past and the manager(female, name unknown) does nada. Will I continue to buy meat here? I’m not really sure because their meat is great meat for a good price. It just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you are ripped off.

Whenever it’s time to bbq we find a La Michoacana for their marinated chicken wings. ALWAYS, always, ALWAYS a hit at our bbq’s! The BEST. I wish they bottled their seasoning because I would definitely purchase it! This one is extremely busy on Saturdays so plan your trip accordingly!

You can’t go wrong with most items on the menu. I’m a big fan of the tacos and deserts. They also have a pretty good selection of Spanish candy. If your thinking of visiting during lunch, I’d advise coming before the noon rush because this place always gets packed.

Questionable customer service. Veggies are more expensive than traditional grocery stores, but their meat is very fresh and well-priced

No idea how I ended up at this Mexican market in Irving, but I am glad I did. Some friends who lived in the nearby Las Colinas area were interested in firing up the grill and making some fajitas for Sunday barbecue festivities. Voila! Here I am writing about my experience at La Michoacana. Of course, when I checked in on my handy Unilocal app, I was surprised to see the negative reviews. Maybe I there’s something wrong with me, but I really adored this little independent, quaint market. The smell of fresh produce and spices was enticing from the start. Rows and rows of tomatoes, peppers, veggies and fruit neatly lined up made for an attractive display and great overall first impression. I began to walk up and down the aisles examining the various international brands of food items. They even had freshly packaged salsa, guacamole and pico; all authentic and I’m assuming made in-house directly. Perhaps the best aspect of this place was their meat selection. Keep in mind that this ain’t your average Whole Foods, Sprouts, Tom Thumb or even Fiesta for that matter. This is an authentic Mexican market, so the meat selection is not only stacked with your typical cuts, but also pre-seasoned marinated meat with hot peppers, oil, and loads of spices. Approaching the counter, I realized why my friends had recommended this random, unsuspecting spot for our barbecue. High quality meat, already seasoned to perfection = convenience; little work on the grill; and a fantastically delicious meal. I didn’t try the taqueria, but my grocery shopping experience here was pleasantly refreshing and I was impressed by this little neighborhood Mexican market.

I read the reviews online about flies and the place being dirty but I don’t see it! The place is exactly what you would expect from a latin meat market. The staff all seem really friendly even if I don’t understand what they are saying 90% of the time. The food here is what I am really impressed with! The marinated meats I get here have ALWAYS impressed my friends when we grill and the homemade salsas are amazing. If you go to the far back corner they have a plentiful selection of baked goodies at unbelievable prices. Usually after visiting here I’ve got food to feed an army for under $ 25.

If you are hosting a bbq for a large group, 1 pound of marinated fajitas per three people. It’s the cheapest and easiest way to feed a small army. Swing by Michoacana and your gathering will be a success. I used to come here every week for tomatoes(I make my own salsa, chili, marinara), red bellpeppers and other produce, but I prefer Indian Bizarre now. The tomatoes are better and slightly cheaper there. Indian Bizarre has similar rates on red bellpeppers, which are high at most other stores. My biggest issue with Michoacana is the fruit flies. This problem began this year and it’s getting worse each visit. The onions appear to be the source, so be careful with those.

Like a trip to Mexico in my mouth without the Donkey show. Was in the mood for some Taqueria street tacos so stopped by the first authentico sabor looking place I found(didn’t take too long in Irving) for a late lunch(1:30ish). There was still a small line at the lunch counter but it did not take too long to get my tacos. This place is a grocery store /carcneria /panderia /taqueria /I didn’t get diarrhea and whatever other –erias there are. I think this makes it a great place to stop. For lest then about $ 5 I got 4 tacos, a soda(pepsi throwback) and dessert. Can’t beat that with a Churro. How you pay is a little confusing as they ask you to pay first which means you wait in the grocery line, pay then go place your order for the food types. I thought the place was cleaner then 80% of the taquerias I have been too so I had no issues with it. One of the only other downfalls was although they literally had a wall full of drink options the more healthy ones were limited to non-existent. I know I know no taquerias carry wheat grass juice but an unsweetened tea or something without aspartame would be nice. After I paid I ordered my 4 tacos(chicharon, fajita, pastor, and ??? i don’t recall sorry). I don’t remember the 4th because they were out of lengua(beef tongue) so I had to call an audible. The tacos were filling and good. They were no necessarily great but they fit the bill. Perhaps one of the best parts about my visit was after lunch I hit up the Panderia and grabbed some dessert. some beautiful piece of bread pudding bread(that you eat with your hands). It was so good and at 45 cents it was a steal. It was so large I could not finish it until after dinner. All in all a decent place to stop in for a quick taco fix.

To anyone worried about sanitation in a taqueria: It’s a taqueria. You play the game, you take your chances! La Michoacana has a couple of advantages. First, they keep a lot of the good carne asada cuts for themselves, making their tacos amazing. Second, you’ll find KILLER pupusas and tortas as all of their bread is baked right in the store. If you’re looking for meat, this is the best skirt and flank steak to be found. There are a few stores in this chain, and they are a marinader’s best friend. If you see a line of day laborers out of the door, it’s good food. Just bring the purell.
