This is worst chkn biryani I have ever tasted. It is not even close to that. Chkn pieces are just broiled and added to fried rice. Omgvery disappointed…

I’ve been living in Houston for almost 4 years, and I have yet to find an Indian restaurant I do not like. There are a couple of restaurants in the area, but I was really drawn to Taj after seeing photos of their non-vegetarian combo platter. So naturally, that’s what I ordered. And let me tell you, it was amazing! It comes with some tandoori-backed chicken(always a favorite), masala chicken, a lentil dish, and yellowish dish that could have been dal(not sure). But everything had the most intense flavor. And the bread, oh my they bread. Freshly baked, crispy, flaky, soft on the inside. They have couple of import sodas that are great as well. The owner was extremely attentive. It seemed genuine, not just because I was the only person there besides a couple on the other side of the dining room. I hope Taj is not usually this empty, I would hate to see it go.

This was our last meal of 2015(happy New Years!) Food was fresh and flavorful. They are short staffed so we waited a while for dinner to be served, but it was worth the wait! GPS took us over by the Olive Garden, but it is on the opposite side of the hwy. They have lots of vegetarian choices. The tandoori chicken fell off the bone and was seasoned perfectly. Try the pistachio ice cream!

I ordered lamb biryani from Taj Indian Restaurant, it was supposed to be enough to feed 15 people but it was a very small portion, could scarcely feed 10. It was mostly rice, hardly any lamb or anything else, mediocre biryani. And they charged me $ 70 for it — way, way too much for what it was. I was very disappointed

Restaurant was clean and classy, except for broken glass window. Food was fresh, delicious and sauces were nice and thick. More than met expectations, I hope more people give it a chance.

I had the aloo gobi, garlic naan and a mango lassi. Everything was absolutely delicious — the aloo gobi had a spicy, buttery flavor that I particularly enjoyed. The wait staff were very polite as well. I would definitely recommend this place to any fan of Indian cuisine.

We have an abundance of Indian restaurants in Houston. The southwest part of town is the best place to find good indian food. I found a hidden gem on the north side of Houston that can definitely satisfy an Indian food craving. I have been here a few times before and actually rented out the whole restaurant on a Friday night last year for my wedding rehearsal dinner since our venue was close by. Sad to say, we had not been back since last year because of the distance. When we came earlier this week, the manager remembered us and was very happy to see us. The whole staff is friendly as well. This place has one of the best indian buffets. The food is fresh and flavorful. They are not afraid to spice things up a little. Other restaurants cater to the masses and tone down the spice indian food should have. The mango lassi is a good way to end the meal with a sweet note.

3 words: Do NOT Go!!! I showed up a little before 5pm on a Friday night. The owner unlocked the door to let me in and said that they were open. Handed me a menu, reappeared quickly to take my drink order, at which time I had decided on the«non-vegetarian thali» multi dish meal. So, about 10 minutes later the food arrives on the tray, sort of like the picture on the website(it did not include one of the chicken bites, chicken makhani or any garnishes). Rice= no flavor Saag paneer= good, better than the heat at home pouches I get at HEB but not as amazing as other Indian restaurants in SW Houston. Chicken tikka masala= Disastrous. Think of chicken gristle in tomato bisque soup. Dal Makhani= Flavor seemed okay, but it had been overly heated. Naan= okay, not super tough as indicated in other reviews; however, not a hint of flavor– no butter, garlic or anything. All of the food had obviously been microwaved, example: chicken tandoori wing had a scalding bone with lightly warm meat. So, as I was finishing my meal, another couple was seated. They were served what appeared to be flatbread/crisps with red and green sauce, something I was accustomed to given my previous experiences at other Indian restaurants in Houston. I asked my server(turned out to be Muhammed Khan, as he said) and was told by him that this was«poppadom» that had been served to the other table. He went on to explain that«poppadom» is in short supply due to it being a direct import from India and therefore not on the menu, since the availability is determined by multiple factors associated with its Indian origin, ie: sometimes they are expired and not allowed in the US… I questioned this by saying that most places serve crisp flatbread and dip as a complimentary appetizer and he persisted with an even more elaborate explanation. Fool, PLEASE. Summary: A low budget establishment with high prices cut a corner, in addition to everything else, since I was a single female diner. Bill before tip: pennies shy of $ 20 bucks NEVERAGAIN!!!

We came in with a group of 7, were given a table right away there was only 2 people working and Indian guy and a hispanic lady. After we sat down we waited to have one of them come and take our drink orders but they didn’t, so we asked if we could order and the guy just kept on talking by the bar area with the lady ignoring the table which by the way was the only one with customers since the restaurant was empty. Will never go back really bad portions of food, nothing but sauce and 4 small cubes of meat at the most, rice was salty and dried and the naan was obviously just reheated way too crispy. If your food is bad have at least good service but this place lacks both, I guess he was not willing to have a woman tell him what to do and decided to be rude and have a very condescending attitude.

This the worst Indian food I have ever tasted, the service was amazingly horrible by the guy. They have canned Coke and bottles beverages. Which I haven’t seen for a long time in a what I expected a good restaurant. I have seen it in small restaurant and café. The food preparation was totally wrong, the lamb biryani had no flavors only thing you can taste is the spices. The spicy onion was wrong… Ames for spicy onion! What I got was bunch of onions an the guy sprinkle some chili powder. Then the paper Baji. which was simple nothing amazing taste was basic. «Take my word for it this restaurant is not a place to go, there are better Indian restaurant! Very very high price for the bad Quality of food. I don’t recommend this place to anyone» here are some pictures I took. Oh yea the chutneys or wrongly made.

The food is definitely different than Indian food I’ve had in other restaurants in Houston and elsewhere. Butter chicken and saag paneer was too sour, as if they had too much yogurt.

My husband and I found this place through Eat24. Both of us never had Indian food before and very skeptical. This place has left a impression on us. The restaurant is incredibly clean, the staff was really nice to us(it was almost closing time when we picked up our food), and the food was great. Everything was fresh and delicious. We are definitely coming back again and referring this place to our friends.

Found this place on a recent trip to Houston. Since I was staying near the airport I didn’t want to go into town and this was the closest Indian place. I thought it was very good, particularly the lamb Biryani and Chicken Tikka. Excellent Naan and Mango Lassi.

This place is excellent! The owner is so friendly and greets you with a genuine smile. The place was very clean and service was quick. I ordered the non vegetarian combo special for dinner, and it was absolutely delicious! I ate everything in the plate!

I used to rate this place highly, however my last experience here was mediocre. The food is still good, but I can see some room for improvements: –The rice pudding(or what looks like Phirni) was almost out and they did not bother to refill it, even during a busy lunch hour. I literally had to skim the tray several times with the ladle to get any in my bowl. The food selection is very limited here already for the ~$ 12.98 + tax you pay for. –The chicken makhani always seems to run out of chicken. This is one of the main dishes here so most people pile it on their plate each chance that they get. The restaurant does have a good turn-around time for this one though and they do try to refill it, but sometimes I feel like they can’t keep up with the demand. –The food was at room-temperature. I don’t know if the burners weren’t working or what, but the chicken makhani, chicken tandoori, and even saag paneer was at room-temperature/cold when I sat down. –Naan is difficult to obtain during a busy Friday. The naan is only served by request and it comes in a basket of 4 slices. You have to make sure you request the naan before you leave the table because it takes a long time to get it. Often times I receive the naan half-way finished with my first plate. –Saag paneer is inconsistent. The second to last time I went here, it was awesome. On my previous experience, I thought it tasted unbalanced and had a bit too much of this herb/spice I can’t really point out. In the end, you pay around $ 15 for lunch(if you tip $ 2).

Came for lunch, and I’ve been here a few times and never been disappointed. If you are iffy about Indian food or not sure what you might like, you should come for lunch during the week. They have a pretty good spread of different types of Indian food to choose from. From what I understand it is a made to order restaurant for dinner. I really enjoy the Indian buffet for lunch. They also have the best mango juice I’ve ever had. Anyways, I really like it! Gave it 5 stars.

I’ve been here twice now and I enjoyed the buffet immensely! Very clean and presented nicely. They bring the naan to your table, but you can ask for as much as you want. I do wish they served Chicken Tikka Marsala, but the chicken mahkini suffices nicely! Overall a great lunch when I am craving indian food!
