If you are in the Hilcroft area looking for a place to get some work done or have a chat with a friend, I highly recommend All Bengal Sweets. I LOVE the Kumbakonam Degree coffee. It’s definitely much sweeter than the coffee I usually drink, but not overwhelmingly so. It’s very smooth. Also, I have enjoyed their vegetable samosas several times and they are amazing. I’m a student so I spend many hours studying at coffee shops all over Houston. I have come into this coffee shop several times and one the of employees(or owner, not really sure) is always very accommodating and happy to have me there. No matter cultural background, you will feel welcome at this coffee shop. Some of their younger employees, who tend to work in the evenings, are less helpful and not as willing to explain to menu or make recommendations. Overall though, I definitely recommend trying it out. I have brought many different friends here and they have all really enjoyed it.

I stumbled upon this place by accident while walking around hillcroft avenue. Walked in, expecting an empty coffeeshop, and was pleasantly suprised that it was nearly completely full! A good sign, right off the bat. I noticed a small area with cold and hot snacks. I ordered a 6oz coffee for $ 3.00 and a piece of meat samosa. The cook(manager? He was making the hot snacks) gave me an entire sample of the veggie samosa. The coffee was absolutely heavenly. I asked for splenda, rather than sugar, but it tasted like this creamy, spiced concoction of nirvana. As soon as it cooled enough, I downed it like a shot. I should have sipped it, but I never did have very good self-control. Then came the meat samosa. The crunchiness factors were pretty good. And the veggie was just so freshly made. I walked back and ordered another order of samosa and 2 of these little crab wonton things(Special that day was 2 for $ 1). Chomped it down and next thing I knew, I had another empty plate. I’m not going to lie, i would have absolutely went back and had thirds, but I had another appointment to head to so I had to head out. Will I be back here and get that third portion? Oh yeah. For sure. And I recommend you give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I had bookmarked this place but had not expected to just happen upon it. I walked inside with a hungry tummy looking for a coffee and snacks but sadly, there was a limited snack selection. I want to blame it on the weekend but usually restaurants open on the weekend keep their stocks full because that’s when people visit. Undeterred by the lack of food, I progressed to request a Madras coffee and found myself very pleased. It’s an interesting coffee with a hazelnut-y flavor but it definitely doesn’t contain hazelnut. I also requested less sugar(apparently this place is renown for too much sugar), which meant my coffee was sweet but not overly. In terms of ambiance, I’m not a fan. No cool seating or wall art but that’s okay, because this place is still great to get some coffee to-go if you’re in the area.

Went on a Monday afternoon with my friend David to try the Kumbakonam Degree coffee, I’m from Kumbakonam and I can tell you this coffee is exactly the same as they serve in India. If your a coffee lover I urge you to try the Kumbakonam Degree coffee at least once and you’ll never drink a Starbucks again

I didn’t know what Indian coffee is until I arrived here. Both the owner and their former manager are my friends so I maybe a little biased. But, the eye eye tea, which is half coffee and half tea I believe along with their exquisite coffee drinks are to die for. Visit Once! You will love it! I truly recommend.

Excellent coffee and tea, absolutely must try. Amazing fish-chop. My favorite coffee place in Houston. The owner/barista is very nice. Always had a 5 star experience except today. Even after repeatedly telling we don’t want sugar in our coffee, they added sugar :|. Luckily we don’t have diabetes, could’ve been a very serious mistake on their part. Maybe this happened because the usual barista wasn’t there today, there were two different people at the counter, younger and much distracted, so they didn’t follow our repeated instructions. Still I expect that this doesn’t happen again.

Great desserts and coffee. The staff was also really nice and were willing to make recommendations. For sweets, we had the rosgolla and Roskodom. The rosgolla came with a sweet syrup(simple syrup?) And it had gummy texture. Roskodom was sweet dough with a sweet center. I don’t know what’s in either but I liked them both. Kumbakonam degree coffee was aromatic and nutty. Very good. Finally the eye eye tea is a dirty chai(with espresso). The chai was light, more watery than the american version and came out piping hot. Had to wait 15mins for it to cool down enough to drink. I’ll definitely be back!

I never knew what Indian coffee was until I visited this place, and honestly I feel like I’ve really been missing out for the past 23 years of my life. I walked in to an empty café that smelled of spices and coffee, always a good sign. The man at the cashier simply asked what kind of coffee I’m into(light roasted) and how sweet I like my desserts(semi-sweet) and presented me with an amazing combination of perfectly rich coffee and two small semi-sweet Indian desserts(?). I’m not even sure what I got, which is unfortunate because I’ll have to rediscover what I like there next time, but it was amazing. They also serve some small snacks, in case you want something a bit more savory. I need to go back and bring all of my friends so that they too can finally experience life. Also, they have wifi and comfy couch chairs. Theres no excuse to not visit it at least once.

Very pleasantly surprised about this new coffee house. My daughter and I drove over because we were craving chai and I was tired of the Starbucks overly sugared version which is not authentic chai. Anyway, we found it and I ordered the masala chai and she ordered the madras coffee. We were quite pleased with both. Took samosas to go and will definitely go back. The staff was friendly, attentive and informative. We loved this little place. I hope that people will discover this coffee house and support it. :)

We enjoy going there often just to chat over a cup of tea or coffee. It is the best place to try out tea and coffee made in the Indian way, which is a lot different than other places here. Once we had mishti doi which was not good and they replaced it the next time we went there. A nice place to unwind after a busy day!

They make yummy Masala chai and mysore coffee. Its about $ 4 for a 12oz cup. Great place to just relax and enjoy time. The meat samosa was very thin… I should have tried the veg one to see if there was a taste difference too.

What a great place! Such a friendly staff! They took the time to explain their options. Definitely coming back again. They even have movies playing on a big screen that haven’t been released yet. The chom dessert was pretty good not too sweet. Sorry if I mispelled it. =) An true Indian gem. Beautiful people, great coffee.

All Bengal has become our go-to coffee place. We had never had Indian coffee before and were completely clueless our first time, but the employees were so helpful and were happy to describe how they make it, what’s different, etc! Since then, we have been coming back almost regularly! We always get the kumbakonam degree coffee and it NEVER disappoints. Absolutely delicious, just be careful if you have more than one or you’ll be bouncing off the walls! We’ve also tried the Madras(which was also great) and the drink that is half coffee and half Chai tea(can’t remember what it was called…). Not a big fan of that one, but has nothing to do with their preparation — just preference. The atmosphere is also lovely. Walls have neat quotes on them, bathrooms have been clean every time, and chairs are comfy enough to study in for hours at a time with no problem! Also, the owner is frequently there and multiple times has asked how we are/do you like the coffee/etc. He is always very friendly and seems to genuinely care about his customers. We haven’t tried the food yet, but it always looks and smells tasty! Overall, I highly recommend this place! Great experience, great coffee, great people :)

This is a the place in Houston for authentic bengali sweets like chom chom or ras kadam. It aslo is a good place for coffee or tea. I like their«eye-eye» tea. The snacks are tasty and cheap. They have fish chops at $ 1. However, the service is very slow, so be prepared to wait.

I recommend ordering the Kumbakonam Degree Coffee. Especially with sugar and milk. It tastes similar to American hot chocolate but less sweet and chocolatey, with added indian spices.

I had been hearing great reviews from all of my Bengali family friends to go and check out this bangin’ coffee which I honestly wasn’t that excited about! This super delicious South Indian Coffee did not dissappoint, it was absolutely delicious and so much better than your $ 6 – 7 Starbucks which has no flavor compared to this. The owner, Sajib uncle is very helpful and kind and takes the time to explain things on this menu. He has another store(All Bengal Sweets & Snacks) on Bellaire Blvd. where he sells authentic Bangladeshi food, hilsa fish, goat and chicken curry, samosa’s, chaat, etc. It’s one of the only places in Houston you can really get authentic Bengali food for a affordable and decent price. You will find the sweets at both locations. I’ve tried the sweets at All Bengal Sweets & Snacks but they’re essentially the same. +Chom Chom– Mmm Mmm Mmm! Hands down, my favorite Bengali sweet. It is a off-white colored sweet. The best store bought mishti I have ever had. Beats all of that packaged nonsense I’ve had from other Indian stores. +Kala Jamun– Delicious! It’s just like the Chom Chom, except a more black-maroon colors. +Rosgolla– Spongy, sweet deliciousness! If you’re wanting to try a Bengali sweet, go for this one. Most traditional! +Jelabi– I love jelabi! Try this one; it’s yummy! +Samosa– I have had these samosa’s since I was young and I’m pretty picky about samosa’s. A good samosa should have other veggies besides potatoes, and this one does which is what makes it so good! Get it because it tastes amazing with coffee or tea! What I’ve had here: + Kumbakonam Degree Coffee– My dad got this and I tried some and I really wanted to just drink all of it, it was so good. It’s milky, sweet, and yummy yummy all in one cup! The brown sugar isn’t overpowering; it’s just perfect. Next time I go, I’m getting this! + Madras Coffee– My mom got this one and of course, I had to try it! It seemed to taste a tad less stronger than the Kumbakonam Degree. It was also equally delicious and I would probably struggle to pick between the two on what to get next time! + Mysore Coffee– My dad’s friend got this, and although I didn’t try it, he said it was awesome and that he would get it again! + Eye-Eye Tea(A savory blend of Masala Chai and Expresso) — The best Indian chai I’ve had. It was so good; I was kind of blown away. It has a lot of ginger and masala, so if that’s not your thing, go for the coffee’s. ++ Make sure they make it with the sugar; it won’t taste the same without it. They make their coffee’s and tea’s with brown sugar so it’s light and you can really taste the flavor of the coffee/tea. Service: Since they have one really expensive coffee machine, it takes some time to make the coffee and tea’s. Be patient thought, because it’s so totally worth it! The guys working there are all very hospitable and will cater to your needs. Ambiance: Nice and quiet, good for meetings or appointments Final Verdict: Going back for the coffee deliciousness!

If you love chai tea, give this place a shot! It’s not too sweet, and it will bring you a warm smile to your soul. Also tried the mysore coffee — I tried to figure what was different about it and what I could find out was that they use an Indian filtration method, add boiling milk, and it can be stronger in caffeine content than even espresso. Tasted pretty good, although a little sweet. The prices are also very reasonable(2.50 for a small chai) and they have some Indian sweets and snacks(samosas, etc).
