This review is based solely on the beignets– they were DELICIOUS! I recently went to New Orleans and had beignets there, and I’ve gotta say, Crescent City’s beignets were equally as delicious, if not better. My friend and I were the only ones there on a late Saturday afternoon but the beignets were made fresh for us. Definitely visiting again!

Five stars are well deserved for this facility — friendly and courteous staff(visited today and the 2 ladies working in the front were very nice) — delicious beignets(not too hot just perfect) — refreshing frozen mocha drinks! — clean facility — decent size dinning area This place is worth trying out!

Very roomy and clean place. Staffs are extremely attentive and nice. Their beignets are soft, warm and delicious!!! Beat Chez Beignet by miles.

Great place for a post-dinner dessert or a late-night snack! Don’t expect the bells and whistles here. Cresent City is reminiscent of a local donut shop, but like donut shops, you can always expect to find a treat. The café au lait is nothing special, but it goes along well with your sweet and puffy pastries. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and you can hear the live bands playing at the restaurants across the street. The service is friendly and respectful, too. Overall, a great place! The classic Café Au’lait and Beignets are still a great reason to stop by at their new location. Previously in front of Lamar High in River Oaks, I was glad to hear it is the same owners. I used to go in grab some amazing Au’lait and spend the mornings with friends. After trying the goods, it confirmed the quality and flavors I was used to. Definitely a good place to stop!

Great place to get hot, fresh sweets and drown them down in steamy café au lait. Staff is really friendly and they leave you alone to chill on WiFi or work on homework. Haven’t tried their non-desserts, but I think the beignets should be their own food group.

Nicely seasoned fries. Their beignets are pipping hot and fresh. I love it here. Unlike the greasy chez beignets and the cheap cranky owner. This place is a bit hot because it doesn’t ventilate well so i recommend coming on cool days. P. S. I saw another review about a lady at the register and I wanted to share my experience. I believe I met a similar unfriendly lady at the counter one time also. After ordering, I went back to tell them to request my beignet and sugar separate when they Togo it but she was nowhere to be found. So I told the chef and he told me ok. But later she called up my order and dumped powdered sugar all over it. I wouldn’t mind, but I was getting it for my dad at home. And she told me «You didn’t request it so I put the sugar on». The chef interrupted her and said that he apologized and said he’ll make me another batch and she was like«Well ya’ll didn’t tell ME». And she didn’t even apologized. The chef gave us a couple of extra ones but the lady made me a bit mad. Coming back on 4÷19÷16, I don’t see her anymore and I hope I don’t have to. Other than that, best beignets in Houston for me!

Started with the bread pudding and beignets … ended with po’ boy and gumbo … what can I say … either way you will be waddling off to your car … We had a great experience and food was great … We all are different … hope you will have a positive experience as we did …

My girl at the time would talk about getting beignets and I had no idea wtf she was talking about. I had never even had a funnel cake at a carnival before so beignets were totally alien to me. I had no idea they were a Louisiana French thing neither. But when I got my order it was like receiving a box of heaven! They reminded me of Mexican sopapillas and when I took a bite my girl just looked at me with a smirk as if saying«told ya so!» They were delicious and the drizzled honey just made them that more delectable! It’s hard not to eat them up quickly. Since then I’ve gone back a few times and I order them with less powdered sugar. Sometimes they pile on too much and it ruins the flavor. But above all you have try their frozen café au lait! It’s frozen addiction in a cup! I always get the regular instead of mocha since I love the coffee flavor. Staff here has always been nice and quick to take my order and make it accordingly. It’s a nice place if you’re in the mood for a sweet snack. A bit tough to get to thanks to westheimers unfailing traffic but still worth a look.

Really fantastic beignets! I’m a huge lover of New Orleans food and can attest that the food here is just as good, if not better, than the famous beignet cafes in Louisiana. We ordered three orders of the beignet strips, which came with the perfect proportion of powdered sugar to donut. Most of us also got the crawfish étouffée, yep even delicious for breakfast! Frozen café au lait is a must. They lost a star at their service. While the lady taking both orders and delivering food was efficient, she seemed a bit snarky when we told her one of our coffees was missing. Their line to take orders was slow as well. This is a really different Crescent City than the one previously living in the Lamar HS area. It’s in a random shopping strip on Westheimer, but there’s also plenty of parking because of the location.

We went for beignets and coffee after dinner I can say with confidence after having visited the epitome of American beignets(Café Beignet in NO) this restaurant is closely competitive and their chicory coffee quite good. I’ll return for other faire since it looks quite extensive.

Their beignets might be good but their gumbo is only so-so and their muffuletta is an embarrassment to the great city of New Orleans. Do not waste your money.

I called today trying to find where they were. I was on Westheimer and I called trying to get the exact location, because I couldn’t find it after I got to the area with my GPS. A lady answered the phone and asked if I could wait. I asked which shopping center the bakery was in and she gave me the address and said I can plug it into my GPS. I told her I ready did that and wanted to know what stores she was close to. She spoke to me as if she were my mother and was not following directions. I am going to pay a business for food, not your employee’s attitude. I will find someplace else to spend my money.

We came here after dinner to grab dessert and coffee. We ordered 12 beignet strips with powdered sugar and the bread pudding a la mode for four people as well as two hot Vietnamese coffees. The coffees were the best I’ve ever had – they were strong but smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The beignets were great, but the bread pudding was so warm and rich and amazing that I made a strange guttural noise of appreciation. The highlight was how nice the waitress was. She brought us extra beignets on the house and extra coffees. The atmosphere was casual and fun, a good spot to bring a group of friends to goof off and get sugared up.

Went here today no one was in there and the vibe from the employees was unfriendly, they were staring me down like«why is she here» anyway I just wanted to get out of there so I got 3 beignets & an ice tea $ 7.00(lol) they did make them fresh which was good and plenty of powdered sugar… like plenty ! Overall I’ve had better beignets, but this is Houston not New Orleans so I wasn’t expecting much. Café Luxe down the street has wayyyy better beignets tho

My boyfriend and I came here on Sunday to grab a quick bite. We both ordered the breakfast croissants, his with ham and mine with sausage. It didn’t take too long for the food to come out and we were regularly checked on which was nice. I was about to bite into my sandwich when I noticed a short hair sticking out from between the party and egg. Disgusted, I pulled it out and placed it on top of the sandwich to have it returned and remade. I didn’t want to be the customer that gave people a hard time but it was necessary. The staff was very kind and willing to remake my whole sandwich — it came back hot and double stuffed with eggs and sausage. I’m glad it all worked out peacefully. The breakfast croissant sandwich came with 4 beignets. Everything came out hot and good. The croissant was flattened and smaller in size than I had expected and the beignets were good but no the kind I would rave about. We also ordered the café au lait which was already pre-made in a dispenser. The coffee was already sweetened with something similar to condensed milk but it was too milky for my taste. I wouldn’t not come back though. The staff was very accommodating despite the circumstances!

The breakfast was OK, nothing exceptional. The presentation was a little odd and I didn’t care for the processed cheese slices. Next time I will come for lunch. The star of the show was the Beignet sticks. The flavor was great, the consistency of the dough was very good, as close to NOLA as I have had in Houston. I will definitely get a full order next time. Seeing as the reviews are strong here, I will definitely try again, but for lunch or dinner menu items.

My review is based on breakfast alone… the lunch/dinner menu looked fantastic so I will update this review once I get a full on experience. I hate walking into a restaurant that seems«houston strip center-y» so I think that initially threw me off. We waited in line for a few minutes and ordered. I wish they had menus at the door to grab while you wait in line because reading from the chalkboard was a little difficult. Obviously, we ordered the beignet strips — they were good but not the best ever… I ordered the chocolate flavor and I think I just wasn’t very impressed with the chocolate sauce. It was convenient that there was extra powdered sugar on the table, though. Café Au Lait was fantastic. Grits and the breakfast sandwich were nothing special… Based off of breakfast alone, I don’t see myself going back for it anytime soon unless I get knocked up in the near future and am craving beignets… I am, however, excited to give dinner a try sometime soon!

They’re back!!! I had only been to the original location once after moving to houston, and then they disappeared, and I was heart broken. When I saw this location show up on Unilocal,I did a happy dance, and rejoiced for all the fluffy powdered sugar goodness that would be back in my life soon. Came on a saturday night, an hour before closing. They had started cleaning up, and took down the displays of beignets, but we knew exactly what we wanted. We ordered a dozen of the original beignets, and got a dozen free! They were perfect, hot, fresh and covered with powdered sugar. They melt in your mouth, not in your hand. I plan to try the strips next time. I will definitlely be back.

Ever on the lookout to satisfy my sweet tooth, I came to Crescent City Beignets with a friend. We came early around noon on a weekday and were surprised to find the place very empty. Nonetheless, it meant a short line so I’m not complaining! For lunch, I ordered the Cajun seafood pasta and the beignet sticks. The pasta was well cooked and had a rich Alfredo sauce. The shrimp and crawfish were also overly seasoned, making for a heavy but satisfying dish. The beignets, on the other hand, were very light, fluffy, and delicious. All in all, Crescent City Beignets is a solid place for your beignet cravings. Plus, their other foods are pretty solid as well. Food 3.5÷5 Ambience 3.5÷5 Service 3.5÷5

I used to be a big fan of their old location inside the loop. So, when they decided to move closer to where I live, I was pretty stoked. So I finally got the chance to visit this new location, and I was pretty disappointed. First of all, let’s talk about the order counter. The space between where you place your order and the table right behind you is so close that if a line were to form, it will be super crowded. While I was here, there was no organization for the line, people just stood where they wanted to wait. So pretty much, you’ll have to know who came before you and who came after you so you know you’re not getting cut. When I was almost at the front of the line(second in line), the cashier just disappeared for a good few minutes. We had no idea where she’d gone, and none of the other workers seemed to care enough to want to help. When the cashier came back, she didn’t apologize for making us wait or explain why she’d gone for a good while. After I placed my order(3 x Beignets and a Bread Pudding a la mode), it didn’t take too long for the beignets to come out. However, they didn’t taste as good as I remember them to be. They were just bland. And after a good while, the cashier came out to deliver our other order, which was NOT the bread pudding. So I told her that we didn’t order whatever she had and we had the bread pudding a la mode instead. She was like, «oh so the bread pudding was for y’all» and walked away. When she came back, she brought us a closed styrofoam container and walked away. When I opened it up, we had a bread pudding. But no ice cream. I had to flag her and when she came by I told her that there’s no ice cream on the bread pudding. Her response was, «okay, relax. I’ll get you your ice cream.» I wasn’t mad, I wasn’t being rude. But her response did annoy the hell out of me. Again, she didn’t feel the need to apologize for having messed up the order but instead she told me to relax. Sorry, Crescent City Beignets. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here for a good while. I’ll go the opposite direction and swing by the Shipley’s outside the beltway to get some of their beignets instead. And at least, over at Shipley’s, I don’t have to deal with people with attitude.

This was a very good Cajun food. Everything was fresh. My wife had the Mufelleta sandwich which comes on a crispy roll. My daughter had the Po Boy pork sandwich with Cajun fries. The sandwich has a good garlic mayonnaise which was tasty. I had the rice and red beans which were VERY spicy but way excellent. Brittany our waitress was friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back when in the area. Lost a star for the poor and crowded parking. YIKES!

Please note that we’ve only had breakfast and beignets here. But those beignets? Really good. Crescent City is at the end of a busy strip, and parking hasn’t been a challenge, but the lot every single time we’ve came here was pretty full. I can imagine at peak times you’ll have trouble finding a spot. There’s a nice little patio with a couple of tables where you could enjoy your meal when you first walk up. Inside there quite a few tables that must be wiped down religiously because there’s not a speck of powdered sugar anywhere, and after eating a ton of beignets, you know that stuff gets everywhere. Tables and floors aren’t sticky either. You walk up to the counter to order off the menu above and behind the register. They’ve got some New Orleans favorites, but every single time we’ve had the croissant sandwich and beignets. Food has always been fast and hot. The beignets are fluffy and tender. The minis too. Perfect sized for kid hands. They’ve got multiple options for beverages, including chicory and café au lait if you’re so interested. Of special note: The last time we were there someone brought their son(probably age 10 or 11) to work with them and was putting him to work and you can tell he HATED every single minute of it. HIs face was just terribly expressive about his unhappiness and unwillingness to do whatever he was asked to do. Delivering food to customers, wiping tables, etc… It would all get done, but he’d have the most hilarious frowny face while doing it. Poor kid.

I would go to this place at least 3 times a week if I could. It’s your typical walk up to the counter order then they bring it out to you kind of place. The service has always been wonderful except for one time when we were there. Apparently the girl working the register was new and her attitude came off as rude to me. I did complain to the owner because I’ve been there quite a few times and didn’t want to not go back because of this new employee. The owner had a talk with her and she came over to the table and apologized. That went a long way with me because your food can be great, but if you have terrible employees that will make me not want to return. Now the reason why I go back and let the occasional bad service pass… Their food is wonderful. I normal order consists of chicken and sausage gumbo… sometimes I’ll also order a few beignets. The chicken and sausage gumbo has to be some of the best I’ve ever had, and that includes homemade gumbo. It’s a trip to the Big Easy without having to leave Houston. The beignets are always hot and fresh. Other items that I’ve tried consist of the crawfish étouffée and the shrimp po-boy. Both of which are also delicious. The etoufee was just a tad bit spicy for my taste buds… but it still had a great flavor so I was unable to stop eating it. Even though my nose was running and my mouth was burning. LOL I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting some fresh hot gumbo and some fluffy beignets without having to make the trip to New Orleans. This is my during the week lunch time vacation to New Orleans.

I have been to the old location off of San Felipe once and it sure tastes the same or even better! Beignets in Houston? Who would ever guess that. This is a pretty nice café and they also serve food. One day I’m going to try out their seafood po boys. I also have a taste for some gumbo since I saw it on their menu. I’ll post up some pictures of what I had that night which was sweet and heavenly enjoyable. I don’t know what beignets from Louisiana or Mississippi are supposed to taste like because I have never tried it, so don’t quote me. I’m going to plan to try them out some day because I have heard so much about them! I will say their prices are decent and I got what I was coming for. I saw on the menu there’s also ice cream filling! I didn’t have room in my belly at the time so I will definitely give that a try next time I drop in.

I’m sooo glad crescent city is back. I’ve never had beignets in NOLA, but the ones here are definitely more than good enough for me: P. I’m just sad this new location is farther away from me. I used to be all about the classic square beignets, but the strips here are done very nicely too! The draw of the square ones is that you get the crispy outside and the super soft, pillowy inside, which is just heavenly together. I’ve been disillusioned by beignet strips I’ve had at other places, where they weren’t thick enough and there was no pillowy inside. This is not the case here! The strips here are wide enough so you still get that pillowy inside, but with a higher crispy to pillowy ratio. Of course, when I come, I have to get both kinds. The bf and I got 2 square ones($ 1.50 each), 4 strips with cinnamon sugar($ 1.50 total), and a café au lait. When we got them, they actually gave us 6 strips 0:), which was a nice surprise. Everything was so delicious, I couldn’t help smiling from ear to ear and remarking on the deliciousness as I sprayed powdered sugar everywhere. Café au lait and beignets go together like peanut butter and jelly. I really like it here, because it’s smooth, creamy and fragrant with not too much of a bitter coffee flavor. I have no idea if that’s how it’s supposed to be, but I really enjoyed it, especially with the sweet beignets. The service was also very nice when we came. 5⁄5 would come again!(PS please open a location closer to the med center)

Hooray, Crescent City back and thriving in its new location! I stopped by with a friend for some post-dinner beignet strips(just under $ 5 for a dozen), and we ended up chilling inside for a couple hours. The atmosphere is relaxed, but there was still plenty of traffic flowing in and out of their doors. It makes me happy to see everyone there having a good time and stuffing their faces with deep fried goodness. Hopefully I’ll manage to visit during the day sometime so I can justify buying a non-decaf café au lait to go with the beignets. :D

Alright kids lets get to this review. Decided to try out this joint. I remember when they were across from Lamar High School and always wanted to go. Imagine my joy when I saw this place searching for my Sunday brunch spot. Parking is tight. It’s on Westheimer so busy busy getting in and out. The system here is kind of crazy. The counter is small and when it’s busy the line is long and awkward. It’s right in front of the drink station so a lot of confusion. Tight in here around the order and drink area. The staff hasn’t worked out the kinks yet. Everyone is running around and it’s manageable chaos. Took awhile to take our order and longer to get food. Let’s talk food. We ordered a few things to try it out. The beignets are pretty good. Kind of dense but good flavor. We had the strips and traditional beignets. I liked the strips. The Vietnamese iced coffee was okay. Kind of heavy. Les Grival’s is a lot better. The crawfish dip was a fail. The crawfish were cold inside and the dip mildly warmed up. Too spicy to enjoy and too much cream cheese. Needed something to cut it to smooth it out. The tortilla chips were greasy. We took two bites and let it be. The poboys were not good. I got the catfish and was disappointed. One filet for $ 10 and no flavor. This is a Cajun joint. This should be bursting with flavor. The potato salad was store bought and not good. We wanted dirty rice but it wasn’t ready. Sad. So overall it is ok. Stick with the beignets and avoid the other items until they up their game. Good concept but they need some work on the food and flow of the restaurant/management.

Love love love the old Crescent City Beignets so was super excited when they reopened! The location is right on westheimer in a shopping complex with a decent amount of parking, though it’s in and out a busy street. The restaurant itself is bigger and more roomy and a lot brighter than the old location. The food. The cheese creole fries with cheese, bacon, sour cream and chives were delicious! It also came with a spicy mayo sauce! Yum! The crawfish Po boys I felt were way fishy but lots of flavor and crispy! The muffuletta was large, crispy bread and lots of meat. The olives were there but there weren’t many. Good sandwich, not the best muffuletta I’ve had. The beignets. Tasted wonderful, just like I remember them! The originals were big flurry pillows with powdered sugar that melts in your mouth and the small sticks were just as good! Definitely glad they reopened! Came back and had the crawfish dip. Yum! Rich and creamy with crawfish pieces and a spicy kick! The pitas they come with are crispy and fresh. Delicious!
