I have visited many of these restaurants all over the US. This one was just fine. The omelets are much smaller than others. I went with the spinach and it looks like they used frozen spinach. The pancakes are still quite good. There are no other restaurants that can compare to the flavor that’s in their pancakes. It was fine, but I have had better at different locations.

Amazing Banana Pancakes! The Potatoe Omelete was to die for! Walked a ways to get there but it was worth it!

Waitress? Hello? Literally — our waitress disappeared, and never checked back on us. And no waitress was around so we could get a refill of water :/ Whenever we got our food, my husbands pancakes weren’t even cooked all the way! They were super gooey and it was disgusting. I’ve been here before and their food was cooked properly and etc., I’ve gotta try every other breakfast place before coming.

Had a delicious breakfast with my husband and son this morning. I had the spinach, bacon and cheese omelette. My husband had the RD omelette and my son had Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice… we also ordered the apple cinnamon pancake? Everything was delish! The guy that busses the tables is always on point. He has a great Aloha spirit ! We wish we knew his name so I could have put it in this review. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is because we had to ask more than twice for a refill of our coffee AND water! That’s the only thing that wasn’t good! And the place wasn’t even busy. There was about 5 empty tables and our waitress kept dissappearing. My son even had to leave our table to ask for water refills.

Love The Original Pancake House chain but this was the first time I’d eaten at this one. They have validated parking so that’s not an issue. My favorite has always been the 49er pancakes and I also like the fresh corned beef hash. Because we were not in a hurry and it was not yet crowded, we decided to try the Dutch baby & the apple Pancake which take time to make. Both were wonderful and worth waiting for. Everyone there was super friendly & the service & coffee were excellent. The cook came by our table to ask how we liked our food and agreed with me that the Dutch baby was kind of like a puffed up 49er. The waitress recommended that if we have some left over apple pancakes to take it home and have it with some vanilla ice cream, which sounds great! It can get quite crowded, and there was a line at the door as we left, so you might want to get there early on a weekend, or be prepared to wait.

I was having a crappy-crummy day so my hubbs surprised me by picking me up from work and taking me to grab lunch. We ended up at The Original Pancake House. Parking is tight if you enter from the Kona Street entrance, just FYI for all vans, trucks and SUV! Parking is validated at the front counter of the restaurant. Upon entering at 12:15 pm, they were surprisingly empty for lunch time. We were given water and time to look over our menu. I ordered the lunch special, club sandwich which came with a soup or salad and a dessert for under $ 11. My husband ordered pancakes with a side of two scrambled eggs. Our food was delivered within 15 minutes of our order which was nice because I was on a work-lunch(1 hour). The club sandwich had too much mayo for my liking but my husband enjoyed it. The pancakes were soft and moist, not the best but definitely not the worst I’ve had — I take my breakfast foods serious. They provide your basic condiments such as salt, pepper and ketchup which were all utilized on the two scrambled eggs. And the chicken noodle soup was delicious! The dessert is a simple small crêpe with strawberries and whipped cream, just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Once they hand you the bill, you pay at the front counter. For under $ 25, my husband and I were full with left overs to take home! The food is decent, prices are average and service is great! I did have to remind my server of my soup and dessert with my meal, but that’s minor.

for those who don’t normally read my reviews, I am a breakfast person. You know, most important meal of the day! So as you can already tell, I rated this 5 star. This location is pretty convenient as it is located near Ala Moana and Ward. Also there are street parking and a parking structure. The service is really good. Local ladies serving you and giving you a good time. feels like family style. The pancakes are awesome. I normally get the Mac nut pancakes. But there are a wide variety of them so try them all! I also get omelets from time to time. Either the corned beef omelet or the spinach omelet. Both are really good. There’s a few that I would really like to try, like the apple Dutch baby. I’ve seen it and it’s like this baked pancake with stuff in the middle(I cannot recall sorry). Anyways one of the best breakfast restaurants in my opinion and you would not spend a lot too!

The food was good but not extraordinary, your typical breakfast menu with the exception of a few times. However, the portions are small for the price you pay and they only offered one refill on small $ 2.00+ sodas. It was pretty crowded the weekday morning we decided to dine there, lots of tourists. On that note, the service was great! Our waitress was friendly and always came to check back on us. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, especially with the variety of breakfast options around the island.

Two things I love the most here are the Dutch baby and the hash brown. The rest of their food is like anywhere else. However I noticed that the corn beef hash never has flavor. While I think some of their items are good their prices are high. Breakfast always consist of one egg, 1 patty for corn beef and one scoop of rice for 9.25. That’s a little pricey the same with the other meats except they come in 3 – 4 pieces. The service isn’t bad, most of the time friendly. However they’re a little slow and the refills aren’t as consistent, but their busy so I can see how hard that can be to be on top of it. Order the Dutch baby once seated since it takes 25 mins. There’s only 2 options original or cinnamon.

Ate here for breakfast with my mom on a Tuesday morning. We were happily greeted and seated immediately. We ordered the Spinach Omelette and Corned Beef with eggs. Both dishes were okay, nothing really special. Though the food was okay, I decided to give this place 4 stars because the entire staff was really friendly. I haven’t eaten out in a while, so experiencing a place with such a happy staff was very refreshing.

Parking: They have validated garage parking. Service: The service was good and food came out fast. It’s better than the service I’ve gotten at IHOP. Food: The food came out quick. I had the vegetable omelette which I didn’t like at all. It wasn’t what I was expecting and looked like a small forest of broccoli covered with eggs. I also had the 49rs pancakes that are so good. They saved my breakfast. If you order one thing go ahead and order them. You will be so happy that you did and leave full. Overall: It’s a good place for quick breakfast but get there early to avoid the wait; and to get parking in the bottom garage.

I needed to do a quick update on my original review. Things I love that has given OPH an additional Star. Their consistently on the food ordered, love the fluffy tasty pancakes. Great friendly attentive service! Love talking story and joking with them, makes you start the day with a smile! Free Parking in the parking structure. The old school feel of this place, oh wait it is old. Haha If you never had the Dutch Baby or the Apple Pancake, Do it!

I’ve driven past this place a million times; walked by when I’m on my way to Gyu-Kaku. Never really thought about going in. I’m kind of a breakfast person and there’s a lot of delicious joints on this island. I know it’s there but I’ve never gone in. A recent Unilocal Fit Club event brought me to the building and after the event Adrienne, Kuuipo & I decided we needed to shove food down our throats ASAP. Lucky for us, a short elevator ride to the lobby puts you at the door of The Original Pancake House. We walked in and noticed the specials board: eggs benedict. Yum! A waitress came over and gave us menus, told us we could sit wherever we chose. Shortly after sitting down we were brought napkins, silverware and water. I opened the menu and was surprised how many things I wanted. I love waffles and the had a few different choices. Crepes were also a choice you don’t see everywhere and I was super close to ordering those if the add ons had been more price friendly. Finally, I saw a Dutch baby on there that was calling my name. I was about to have a full on indecisive moment when I remembered the benedict. All three of us ordered it in the end. It came with hash browns or home fries; I love home fries and was excited. Sadly a few moments after ordering our server came back and said they only had two order left plus no home fries. FARTS! Adrienne was a trooper and switched hers; I sadly nodded okay to hash browns. Our food came out fast! Talk about service. Everything was moving promptly without feeling rushed. My Eggs Benedict was nothing fancy to look at but it actually tasted really good. The hollandaise was on point, eggs poached with a nice runny yolk. It’s hard to screw up Canadian bacon and English muffins. It came with a surprise side of broccoli also doused in hollandaise & those hash browns. I really wish they had the home fries because it would have matched well. The hash browns were patties like you get at McDonald’s but less crispy. You get two. I prefer shredded potato hash browns myself. Our server was excellent. She checked on us often, brought us our bills [we requested separate checks & she had no problem] and told us to take our time. Other servers checked on us as well to refill water, etc. We did ask for takeout containers that never showed up and had to request them again from another. On our way out the original server saw us and apologized for forgetting the boxes without us saying a word. It was a tiny snag and I appreciated their customer service as a whole. Prices here are budget friendly; my bill was $ 10.99 and I was super full. They had even more affordable options with just as much food on the menu as well. Décor is plain, simple, brown; the place is like an old diner. I would definitely come back here to try out a few other items without breaking the bank. My bad in not in giving this place a chance! That Dutch Baby be calling my name…

Ive always loved the TOPH, but they are always so busy. I like that you have a choice of pancakes as your starch. Comes with a big slab of butter. The pancake is nice an fluffy. Egg and bacon are eggs and bacon, so pancakes are the reason you come here.

I found myself here around 1:00 pm for a late lunch. I just came from Unilocal Fit Club: Belly Dance Technique and Choreography. I was tired. I was sore. And I was hungry. I got an invite to eat here from a few of the other ladies, so I immediately said yes! Anything for food and a bonus of not having to drive anywhere! The Original Pancake House is located on the first floor of the building on the corner of Kapiolani Blvd. & Pensacola St. If you are traveling makai on Pensacola, the building is on the left at the corner. There is a parking garage, but there may be a charge. I am not sure if they validate. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was half full, maybe because they were near closing. Our waitress came over with utensils and water, and a few minutes later, took our order. The three of us all ordered the Eggs Benedict. While ordering, I had asked the waitress for separate checks because I had no cash on me. She said that was fine.(It is so nice to find someplace that lets you have separate checks without making a big deal of it.) Our food came quickly and my order was good. The eggs were poached well and the sauce delicious. The hash browns were crispy and salted well. Service was ok. The waitress who took our order was on point and checked up on us. Later, we did have someone else help us. We had asked for boxes to take home our leftovers, but she never came back. We had to ask someone else for them. Other than that little hiccup, the service and food was good. I think if I’m ever in the building again for breakfast, I’ll come back to try out more of their menu! (10)

Awesome! I had the Hawaiian sweet bread French toast. Fried egg over easy. 2 slices bacon. Thick bacon. Maple syrup. The French toast had super creamy butter on it with powdered sugar. Everything was cooked perfectly. My waitress was super friendly and nice. She kept my coffee filled. …which is a big deal to me! This place rocks and i like it better than eggs and things by the mall! I will always come back while in town.

Get here early if you don’t want to wait too long on the weekends. My sis, a friend and I went to eat here on New Years day. We arrived around 8 am which isn’t too early, but I figured more people would be doing fast food hangover breakfast than a sit down. I’ve been here plenty of times before though and the pancakes are truly soft and melt in your mouth delicious! If you order bacon they will ask how you like it cooked, which I’m a crispy almost burnt gal myself. I enjoy the service here as well, the ladies are very sweet. The last time I came there was a gentleman that was bussing and he saw a family come in with a young child and he had the chair switched with a high chair before they even got to their table, which was only about 25ft away from the door. You can park in the lot behind the building, the gate was raised on Sunday so I don’t think they charge that day. I usually just get street parking right outside the lot in the back.

So if you’ve ever been to the one in Kalihi and are put off by that place then I suggest you try this Original Pancake House… Better food, better service… the staff is really friendly. They said the food and everything should all be the same but no…

We came here a couple times before back in the day and the food was awesome! Food: I seem to always get the same foods, strawberry waffles and bacon, but OMG this waffle is delicious!!! Super light and fluffy and I LOVE whipped cream they load that sucker on. Nonetheless awesomeness. Try going on a week day, it’s not so busy, other then that weekends you’ll probably wait about 10 – 15 min sometimes longer. The staff is always friendly! So that’s definitely a giant plus for me!

Came in here on an early Monday morning with my friend. It was surprising to see the place filled with Japanese tourists all wearing stickers from the same tour group. The service here wasn’t too great, in fact the waitress was borderline rude. She didn’t seem to enjoy her job too much, barking to us that the Dutch Baby took half an hour to bake and the Apple Pancake took forty five minutes. We still ordered both and also ordered a potato omelette hoping that would have come out in the meantime; ironically it was the very last thing to come out. Not being a huge fan of pancakes, I was fairly impressed with both the Dutch Baby and the Apple Pancake. They had a unique texture and were very buttery. That being said, though, I did feel a little sick after from the over-richness of the food.

This place was middle of the road for my wife and I. First of all, parking is weird. You enter through a parking garage in the back. We took some weird stairs that put us out in the back of the restaurant. Honestly I don’t know the correct way to go. Second, I read about the Dutch Baby a whole bunch but come to find out it takes about 45 minutes to make; so that sucked. I settled on sweet bread French toast which was decent. No flair to it but that should be expected at this sort of place. All in all, I would maybe come here again, if I was in the area for some reason.

49ers BABY! I love this place. My family has been coming here for breakfast for years. Small place with a country diner feel, this place has the best waffles, omelettes, homemade corn beef hash and my ultimate fav– the 49ers. 49ers are thin, crêpe-style flapjacks that light and slightly gooey. Topped with their whipped butter and their warm maple syrup– it is so good! Waffles are also another solid choice. My other fav is the garden omelette. I’m not much of a meat eater and love veggie omelettes. This is by far the best I’ve ever had, ever! Omelette is really fluffy and is super flavorful– they use a good amount of butter. Being that this is the ‘pancake house’ you’d think the star would be the pancakes. Their buttermilk pancakes are good in flavor but super heavy. I don’t recommend them. The other thing they are known for is the Dutch Baby. It takes 20 minutes to make it so order it as soon as you are seated. It’s like a big soufflé when it gets to the table — –airy and gooey on the inside. It slowly deflates as the seconds pass. Nice flavor, recommended to eat with a squeeze of lemon but this thing is made with a ton of butter. My stomach hurt the rest of the day after indulging I this. Not my fav but had to try it. Go for the 49ers– light and hits the spot when craving a sweet breakfast.

They have at least a couple of these. The other one is older. So, I’m pretty sure that this was not the Original one. You come here for breakfast. It is popular among the locals. Therefore, the wait is long; at least half an hour. I waited over an hour with a large party. The Dutch Baby takes a half hour to prepare, so if you have to wait and want one of those, order it while you wait. It’s a German type pancake that taste more like a dessert than a breakfast. Pancakes were quite good and quite large; Hawaiian large. Hence its popularity. They have a senior menu for those older than 50. Sheesh, only in Hawaii I become a senior. Parking is only the street or in the garage, which you have to pay. Free on Sunday though.

Perfect place for a delicious breakfast or brunch. The Apple pancake is worth the wait! Put it down next to your name on the waiting list and it should arrive during your meal. It’s so good, I’ve never tried the Dutch baby. The Apple pancake has just the right amount of caramelized sugar, cinnamon and apples, within a crêpe/popover type of pancake. So yummy! We like the Swedish pancakes, which are a little thicker than crepes and served with sweet, tart lingonberry jam and butter. It’s kind of expensive, though, so I’ve learned to make these at home, and enjoy my AP instead here. As someone who loves fluffy scrambled eggs, I really like the way they make their omelettes so fluffy, they’re almost like a soufflé. Maybe I’ll figure out how to do that myself one day. Until then, I’ll be here washing down my fluffy eggs and AP with hot chocolate with whipped cream. Happy sugar rush!

Come here for the Dutch Baby! So fluffy and good, and it comes with powdered sugar, lemon wedges, and powdered sugar The service on the other hand… I think our waitress was Dianne?(The name on our check) we sat there and waited 30MINUTES with no water, and when I asked, she looked like she didn’t care. She didn’t apologize, instead she said«I gave you bigger water glasses»… When we looked around, they were the same size as everyone else’s. She then dropped off our food and said no word to us and didn’t Check up on us… Once again, no apologies either. The food was okay. My bf said the corned beef hash and hash browns taste better at zippys and tasted frozen. The 3 stars was only for the Dutch baby. I’m a waitress and never tip 10%, but this lady seemed like she didn’t care.

I had finished church with a friend of mine and so we went to grab some breakfast. Apparently this is a happening spot on a Sunday. There were couples, and families waiting along with us. The wait was about thirty minutes. Once we were seated we were greeted right away by a sweet waitress. I ordered coffee and it was very good. I perused the menu and settled on bacon, sunny side eggs with hash browns. They did not skimp on the bacon. it was plentiful and my heart and stomach was smiling as it went into my mouth. The eggs were nice with my fork crushing the yolk and having it’s wonderful juices ooze onto my hash brown. I sprinkled a little salt and hot sauce. This basically hit the spot. Everything was right on the money. The place reminded me of my friends grandmother cooking homemade meals. I left satisfied with a smile on my face. Great customer service

We came here for a late breakfast on Saturday. It was around 11:30am and the wait was about half an hour. There’s always a wait for this place. I haven’t been here in about a year. I’d rather go to IHOP because they have the different fruity pancakes, which I like. The hubby wanted to come here for a change. He always likes to get an omelette with pancakes. He got the cheese omelette which he said was fine. He didn’t like their pancakes though. He didn’t think they were fluffy enough. I was ok with their pancakes. I asked for a side of haupia syrup and I was good to go. I ordered the bacon and eggs breakfast with hash browns. I like my eggs over easy and it came out perfect with the runny yolk. They serve the thick slices of bacon here and it was salty. It’s not my bacon of choice. I prefer my bacon thin and crispy. I really didn’t care for the hash browns either. It wasn’t crispy. I like hash browns made from potato shavings. They serve the patty style here. The ladies working here are super friendly. They refill your drinks and see you if need anything. As with most breakfast places, you take your bill and pay it at the cashier.

This place was horribly disappointing. My friend and I planned to do some yoga nearby and wanted to grab breakfast beforehand, so we found this pancake house on Unilocal. When we first walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a cold burst of air and sat down feeling like we just got thrown into a refrigerator. We were not exactly greeted with warm and welcoming customer service. I swear the women who work here just hate tourists… or guessing by the temperature of the room have just been experiencing lots of hot flashes. We ordered their most popular items, the Dutch Baby and Apple Pancake. Then we were warned that they each have 20 – 40 minutes of baking time. That’s ridiculous! But of course we are never in Hawaii so YOLO. Maybe it’s worth it. In the meantime, we sipped on our tasteless and weak coffee and ordered a side of Corned Beef Hash to eat in the meantime, which ended up coming with the rest of our food and completely defied our objective of ordering that in the first place. When the food came, I was underwhelmed by the Dutch Baby, which is an oven-baked German Pancake. It needed so much butter and powdered sugar to add flavor, but perhaps that’s because I’ve never had it before. The waitresses probably got offended that my friend asked for syrup, because they never brought it to us. I will say that the Apple Pancake is pretty good for the first few bites. It is baked with fresh apples and corintji cinnamon glaze. After awhile, I started getting a stomachache because it tasted WAY too eggy and undercooked. My friend and I ended up needing more time to digest this unsatisfying food and went to a later yoga class. Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone, local or tourist. The food and service are atrocious.

I love to eat here. I come here once a month or more. I love the oven-baked German pancake. I’m not a big pancake eater but this place makes me love pancakes. Parking is free with validation. U can enter the parking lot from Kapiolani Blvd. drive up to second floor and take a ticket. You can park anywhere after the parking booth. Take the elevator down the the G floor(ground) and Walk through parking lot to your right. Take the door into the building, and walk down the hall. You will see the restaurant to the left. I also like to eat the breakfast special. It’s your choice of meat & eggs with pancake or rice or hash browns or toast. The staff is also friendly. It’s been the same staff for a long time. Love this place. Our waitress was Didi this time and she has worked here for 26 years. So, everyone knows each other and it’s like family.
