Location: Sushi Shohei is a fairly new vendor at Shirokiya, Yataimura Food Court on the 2nd floor. Located next to the refrigerated cabinets, Toyo Sushi and Fukumusubi. Sort of the geographic center of the second floor. In Japanese«Shohei» is a given name… I’m guessing it’s the name of the chef. Sushi: Mostly traditional rolled maki sushi and some negiri sushi plus miscellaneous items like buckwheat somen. The nigiri sushi appears to be made with an interesting modified technique which I have never seen before. Seems to be made in a sort of long piece that is then sliced into traditional shaped nigiri pieces. Different but it works! This may be done to speed up production, however, each piece is carefully crafted and decorated for excellent presentation. Addendum: Nigirizushi is what this called… I think. See my photo. Vegetarian: The other thing that I really like is the fact that there are many vegan/meatless/eggless items. Lots of selections with just daikon, cucumber and other vegetables. Again see my photos. I normally would have gone strictly vegan for lunch, since it was available, but, I let temptation get the best of me. I wanted to try the decorated sushi assortment. Prices: Excellent prices here! I had a nice light lunch of sushi plus a separate bento of vegan maki like I just described for less than $ 9. This small sushi counter is worth checking out and I recommend it.
