This place is yummy for fast food truck. The tan tan broth was spicier than most, but delicious. The noodles were perfect. It was filling and great for a quick cheap bite to eat in Waikiki. The child portions were perfect and my kids ate all of their miso ramen.

To naysayers that authentic ramen can’t be done in a food truck, Kamitoku begs to differ. Located off Beachwalk in Waikiki, one discovers a little oasis of food truck paradise with Kamitoku being one of six adjacent trucks serving everything from curry Loco Moco to shave ice to Japanese rotisserie chicken concoctions. The focus of Kamitoku is on beef ramen, which may not be as trendy as the pork tonkatsu or chicken-based varieties, but definitely holds its own with respect to beefy cousins Vietnamese phở and Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Options here include wild(their best seller), lite(presumably less wild), tantan(spicy sesame paste), miso, and cold(Nyaengmyeon’s hipster counterpart). Being my first visit, I went with their gold standard, the Beefy Wild, and upon first sip of the broth, I was almost knocked over with an uppercut of umami. Talk about beef ramen gone wild. This bowl packs enough flavor and heat that nearly resulted in me lifting my top up for joy(don’t worry, no photos will be uploaded; better to slurp and enjoy the scenery of passersby heading to the beach instead) Breakdown of the Beefy Wild Pros Broth(a tad oily which I suspect is from the addition of butter but the overall aroma and lipsmacking richness works for this dish) Noodles(thin and springy with a nice finish) Vegetables(good crunch and flavor with the bamboo, spring onions, sprouts) Cons Egg(tad overcooked from soft boiled, which is my preference) Beef(overly salty perhaps from my piece being on the butt end, talk about receiving the literal short end of the stick) Aside from some issues with consistency, service was quick and professional. Credit cards accepted and the overall product is brick and mortar ramen worthy! A return visit is inevitable. Pro-tip Ample seating with additional options for good eats in neighboring food trucks. 10% discount for first-timers checking in on Unilocal app.

With all the well-rated ramen places around, one would think a ramen truck wouldn’t be the first choice… but yet again Unilocalers prevail; this place is amazing!!! –Beefy wild ramen: delicious broth, tender chunks of meat, perfect egg and noodles O. O about $ 10 –Galbi bowl: this one sells out fast because it’s so good, I love the way they season the meat, about $ 10 This is located among a bunch of other noteworthy trucks, check it out and you won’t go wrong!

I had the beefy wild and highly recommend it. The beef itself is worth it. The broth is very tasty, too!

not your traditional tonkotsu ramen… but very good i had the beef wild ramen which is the most popular choice and it comes in a garlic broth, maybe a little spicy but u can add sriracha. beware it is very garlicy and peppery so if thats not your thing id opt for another variety. noodles are very good i have no idea if they make it themselves but had good texture. i think it was a little over 10 $ for the bowl and it is kinda small but worth it. will try to go back before i leave

I’ve been on a ramen kick for the last few weeks and I’m so glad that I found this place! Tucked in the Pau Hana Market only a few feet away from Waikiki beach is this gem. I’ve never had ramen from a food truck before but Komitoku exceeded my expectations. When you’re here, you gotta go for the BEEFYWILD! Trust me, you won’t regret it. It was a bit oily but the garlic soup was extremely flavorful and the toppings hit the spot. The service was great and because we were there for lunch, there was no wait. If it’s your first time, take advantage of the 10% off check-in deal. I will be back for more if there’s time!

We stayed right across the street at the Embassy Suites. I was hesitant to come back here to the food truck park as we visited in August but ate at the shrimp truck. It wasn’t good so I immediately wrote off this truck park. Well, we had walked everywhere and have eaten at so many high end restaurants in waikiki, we just wanted some hot noodles without getting the car from valet and driving again. Found them on Unilocal and after the reviews, said let’s go. Glad we did. It was the only truck that had a line. It went by pretty quickly. My son and hubby ordered the spicy beefy since a lot of the reviews said it was awesome. I ordered the beefy wild and loved it!!! The bowls aren’t very big so I was able to eat it all and roughly 9 bucks a bowl is pretty decent. Kimchee was a rip off though as it is in most places in hawaii of you’re not at a Korean restaurant. We will definitely go back.

I was skeptical at first about buying food from a food truck. I ordered the Beefy Wild and it is now my favorite ramen! The porky Gyoza is pretty good, too.

As a born and bred Japanese person, I didn’t think I would be eating ramen in Oahu, especially out of a truck. I went here because I needed to have dinner alone and I wasn’t feeling like getting out of Waikiki. The beefy wild ramen is good. Is it good enough that I would plan my meals around it? No. But it’s good enough considering the location. Pros: The broth is good. Rich and garlicky. If you are used to tonkotsu(pork bone) broth, it is not as heavy or oily. Cons: $ 10 for ramen is kind of pricy for me!

Beefy COLD! I love this dish, the broth is rich and light at the same time, and the noodles are soft and slightly chewy. The meat and egg is just delicious, and the bamboo, mmmmmm i love it! Also tried the Beefy rice bowl, that is a hearty bowl! It’s portions are big and you have the option to get it small! Overall this food truck is wonderful! I saw that a lot of famous Japanese celebrities visited this truck, like Ayumi Hamasaki!!! The workers were wonderful and the service they gave was excellent! Definitely a must to try out this food truck!

I got the beefy spicy ramen today and it was delicious. It had a good amount of extras in the ramen and the spice was just right. I mixed the two spice options. The gentleman working was delightful and kind. I’ll be back for more tomorrow! This is the way to eat in Waikiki the food trucks have great food, nice service and great prices!

Pros Broth: the beef broth for the beefy wild ramen tasted great and you definitely get that strong taste of garlicky goodness, however I didn’t like how it was more on the oily side. Beef Topping: The slices of beef used as a topping for the beefy wild ramen was my favorite part. It had a great savory taste and the meat fell apart as you bite into it. Cons: Noodles: Other than the broth being oily, I also wasn’t a fan of the noodles since it was overcooked to my taste preferences.

It was so nice to have ramen a block away from our hotel! I would recommend the miso beef ramen. The soup comes out hot and super thick and flavorful. It definitely more beefy flavored than what I’m used to, but that’s what they’re known for.

Needed something to hold me until dinner. Also nice they have seating areas. I will be spoiled when I get back to NC. Very good dumplings. With the weather back home, I am afraid to come back.

I was craving for ramen and decided to try this ramen truck in Waikiki. The broth was pretty good and I had the«Beefy Wild» which was yummy beef garlic broth. The noodles were pretty good and they also have Keiki sizes. It opens at 11am but you should come around 1130⁄12 because the owner usually preps everything and starts bit later.

Let me just say, definitely worth the long @$$ walk from our hotel for delicious Ramen! Not to mention gotta love that it’s in a food truck lot so you can look around and see what’s for dessert(shaved ice…). We ordered the Beefy Spicy and the Beefy TonTon(TanTan???)…something like that anyway. It was about $ 20 for the two of us and the bowls weren’t significantly large… but surprisingly enough was just enough to fill us up and leave room for dessert. Not to mention the broth was so flavorful and had just the right amount of kick. I have 2 things that were frustrating, but I don’t know that they have control over them 1) someone was getting trained on working a food truck — not a huge issue and honestly just a part of doing business 2) lack of lighting in the area. OMG it was hard to see. The only lights that were provided were from the the surrounding buildings and from the food trucks themselves. Honestly, I’m surprised that I didn’t trip over my own feet given how klutzy I am. Oh and if you were worreid about seating(whole food truck parking lot thing), don’t worry about it! They have plenty of picnic benches for seating. To give you an idea of how much we enjoyed the food, the walk back was 1 mile — not something that we wanted to do after spending the whole day walking everywhere… in flip flops…

Absolutely phenomenal beef bone broth, likely my favorite broth in the islands and it’s served from a truck! Reasonable pricing for Waikiki and with great/friendly service, put this on your to-try list. If you’ve disliked Tonkotsu broth from Japanese ramen places before, this is worth a fresh try because gyu-kotsu broth is a lot less gamey. Tried the beefy miso which is a lighter version of the Beefy Wild and it had a nice depth of flavors from beef, beef bone, and a variety of vegetables and seasonings which are so well blended likely from boiling(not simmering) heat and long duration. The beef char siu was tender and similarly apparently seasoned over a long period. Only one slice in the plain order, wish I’d ordered another… We did get an extra egg order, but I prefer it a bit more yolky. I suspect they cook it thoroughly because they have to prep before opening and don’t want to risk them being too raw. Egg noodles and other toppings were good, but the star here is the broth. I got an extra order of rice afterwards just to soak up the beefy goodness. Haven’t tried the donburi and kalbi yet, but definitely will.

The owner is very kind. I asked for one of his spare beef bones to take home for my pit bull. He politely said yes & I was won over right away! I ordered the kalbi beef bowl and it was so full of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the beefy wild and it was also perfect! Good food will return

You come into this crowd of food trucks tucked in an obscure corner. There are five to seven of them surrounding two columns of picnic tables. You see the ramen food truck and the light bulb goes off in your head– this is it, dinner time! I walked up the stair to order at the food truck window and I had no trouble at all picking which bowl of ramen I wanted for me and my friend– tan tan men and beefy wild ramen. I paid almost twenty bucks for two bowls of relatively small ramen and that was with the 10% off coupon from Unilocal check in. Now onto the taste of the ramen– the tan tan men ramen has a broth made of sesame and beef. Personally, I love tan tan men ramen and it’s my personal favourite that I would always get. This bowl came with a scoop of beef and plenty of bean sprouts and some green onions. Rather skimpy on toppings and the quantity was pretty small. Although I was somewhat full at the end, it was kind of expensive for what you get, especially compared to Goma Tei Ramen at the mall. Taste wise, it wasn’t as spicy as I wanted and the broth was flavourful with beef and there were definitely layers of flavour there. The beefy wild ramen was alright to me, but my friend liked that its broth was definitely beefy, which was the aspect of the ramen that I didn’t like. She got more toppings such as an egg. The noodles in both dishes were okay, they were made of egg and wheat I believe. I wished they had more texture, more chewiness, and for the tan tan, I wished it thicker to support the ramen. Service wise, it’s like a cafeteria where you pay up front and you pick it up. I don’t think I’d be back because I found a better ramen at Goma Tei and while I DIDN’T get food poisoning, unfortunately my excrements turned a little red/red orange from the sesame oil. That was just weird.

PS: If you are planning to come here with your family of 5+ like ours and driving a minivan, this review is for you! Location(3⁄5): The location you are going to DOESNOT only have one food truck but multiple ones! This location is not minivan friendly. Right across the food trucks place is a public parking area with low ceiling 5’9″. They charge $ 1/hour. Their parking spots are so tight that the whole parking area could barely fit 2 or 3 cars. Since there was a metal bar on the ceiling, two of us had to get off our van to hold the bar up for the car to drive in smoothly. They have one the most ancient paying method I have ever seen that is the box looking very much like a piggy bank! There are also few street parkings since it is a small ally behind tall hotels. Aside from that, it’s walking distance to downtown Waikiki and the beach. Services(5⁄5): They are extremely friendly and quick! Besides selling noodles, they also sell Japanese plastic cartoon masks! Random but why not?! Food(4⁄5): We ordered one order of all the beefy noodles and a beefy tan tan. Man, I’m digging that beefy wild a lot! So much richness and flavors coming out a small bowl of beef ramen. Although Honolulu’s temperature is hot, eating a hot bowl of noodles this good is OKAY! Yesh! It’s OKAY for you to sweat because other people drinking the same flavorful soup around you are also sweaty like you! #yourenotalone! Here is the price list: — $ 9.75 per plastic cartoon mask — $ 9.75 for beefy miso, lite, wild and cold — $ 6.75 porky gyoza — $ 11.75 for beefy tan tan Add toppings: — $ 1.50 extra noodle, menma, char chiu, egg boiled — $ 1 for green onions, bean sprouts Definitely come back here for MOREANDMORE! Cheap, solid and local! I like!
